They just cited some shady technicality about wind reading to rob her of her second world record time.

The verdict us that a record time of 12.12 secs, is maintained for her.
Nothing shady about it. Educate yourself! When wind speed is more than +2.0m/s then speeds are not ratified as records. She had a +2.5m/s in the final.

Oga. 100 litres cannot run a 60/80KVA generator under full load for 24 hours, not to talk bigger generators.

Also consider that the generators may not be new, thereby fuel consumption may be higher.
True! In my estate we use a 100kva gen and it uses 10litres per hour, so that would be 240 litres in a day. A hospital would probably need a 1000kva gen, which might use like 50 litres per hour.

But to say she has no prior history of success shows you don't follow athletics. She was the last Diamond League champion in 2021 I think and won a medal at the Tokyo Olympics. She also won a medal at the 2019 World champs in Doha.

Telecoms prices are being regulated they dont increase tariffs arbitrarily like power sector.

Telecoms dont receive grants from the FG and CBN like power sectors do.

Telecoms invest in infrastructure, they build masts, power them to run and secure them.

Mention one significant assets built by Power sector, they have increased tariffs with no significant improvement in supply, they sre still being subsidized by the government till today. They dont provide tansformers , wont fix broken poles . All they know is to collect for services they dont render.

Only an idiot will call the complaints of the failings of the power sector beer parlor gist.

The body set up to regulate the power sector is useless (offcourse the collect 1% of the gross revenues discos collect)

They donot obey govt directives to ensure that at least 50 percent consumers in their respective zones are metered.

For Telecoms you can see what you re paying for, but for the discos its a racket.

Face it the Power sector has failed woefully partly because the people who run it are incompetent and only interested in stealing from customers.

You are only making this irresponsible statement because you benefit from the corruption that fuels the Discos.
Telecoms prices are pseudo regulated yes, but the point is that it is cost reflective.

The fact that they don't receive grants is evidence that the telecoms sector tarrif are cost reflective. In case you don't know, grants are basically a subsidy.

Most of the infrastructure was built between 20 to 10years ago. Yes they may still upgrade from time to time, but the build out is basically complete. Therefore marginal cost is very low, and which means average cost will continue to drop as scale increases. This is why tarrif is same despite devaluation cos average cost also falls. In power on the other hand, as at privatisation, there was an existing massive infrastructure deficit. Profits and cash flow need to be in place before further investment can be made. Power sector investments need to be made with power purchase agreements in place. You don't just build plants without specific customer in place. But the imbalance in the sector, poor regulation etc prevent that from happening.

Anybody who reads my analysis and yours and has anything resembling a brain will not agree that I'm stupid, rather quite informed, intelligent and analytical.

There is no racket. DISCO cannot supply when national grid keeps breaking down, gencos don't supply, gas lines are down, customers don't pay etc. Where will the cash come from? There is no free lunch anywhere.

Having said all this, that is not to say Discos May not have their own issues, but it's not just their fault and in my opinion not mainly their fault. I would blame discos like 30%.

The only privatization that worked in Nigeria is that of Telecoms, PHCN failed and NNPC will fail too.

Telecoms worked because the right people were involved, there were no cronies.

The last two failed because the assets were sold to cronies.
As far as I'm concerned all this talk of being sold to cronies and incompetent people is mostly beer parlour gist. Any proper student of economics and business will know that there is a lot of difference between the telecoms sector and power sector.

Telecoms companies were given free hand to set their prices, electricity companies were not.

Telecom tarrifs have always been cost reflective, electricity tarrif have not been.

By the nature of telecoms (a virtual product), you cannot steal it or avoid paying for it. Electricity is often consumed without paying or outright stolen.

The marginal cost of providing telecoms service to extra 10,000 people once the infrastructure was rolled out is pretty much zero. To supply electricity to new 10,000 people will always require new infrastructure (poles, wires, transformers, more generation etc). Hence why the tariffs needs to be cost reflective.

Telecoms are not burdened by any middle man. Mtn sells directly to customers. Electricity is burdened by Too many players. GENCO, DISCO, TCN, NBET, GAS COMPANIES, etc and can only be as strong as its weakest link.

Besides NNPC has not been sold, so what are you talking about? Hence my beer parlour gist!! Too many people are uninformed in Nigeria about how things really work, yet we all feel we are well educated. Hence why so many people cannot be employed by multinational companies.

kernniejay:
Going by your analysis and logic, if a Professor in Nigeria spends N700k per annum on rent, and he will have 1.3m left for the whole year, have you considered the cost of fuelling his car and generator on daily basis, cost of school fees of two children in the university (and probably another two in a private secondary school), cost of cooking gas and cost of electricity (which are provided by govt in the US at a subsidized rate), cost of foodstuff which is racing at alarming speed every week and other factors like other dependants (e.g. Aged relatives or parents etc) which is usually not the practice in the US, if you convert all these costs to dollar and compare, you will see that Nigeria is a hostile place to survive.
Guy which electricity and gas is subsidised in US? Who is feeding you trash? I'm in houston as I'm typing this and petrol is $4.50 per gallon (that's N497 per litre using official rate of N420/$). My last electricity bill was over $200 for June cos its bloody hot at the moment. Hotter than normal. So Hvac is overworking.
My car insurance is $115per month and property tax is about $4500 annually and mortgage is $1850 monthly? Are bills in Nigeria this high?

Professors in Nigeria should earn more no doubt, but please do not compare blindly to America.

*MODIFIED*

2,000,000 monthly grin

As at 2019, Nigeria had about 11,877 professors (though this include both those on private and public higher institutions).

That means; monthly, the government will pay 2,000,000 x 11,877 = 23,754,000,000. That's over twenty three billion naira monthly.

As at today, Nigeria produces about 1.2m BPD of crude oil (Our main source of income, excluding mineral resources from the north which I don't know why they don't mention it. Only God knows where that money is going to). Using the official exchange rate of about 414 naira/dollar,
If 1 barrel is about 93 dollars, this becomes 1,200,000 x 93$ = 111,600,000 per day

that's a total income of 111,600,000 x 414 = 46,202,400,000 (Nigeria's income from crude oil).

THEN; 46,202,400,000 x 30 days = 1,386,072,000,000. This is over 1.3 Trillion naira monthly.

Boy o boy, This country is making money.

SUMMARILY, THE GOVERNMENT CAN PAY ASUU COMFORTABLY.
First of all not all of Nigeria's daily crude production belongs to Nigeria. Nigeria operates JV and PSC structure and in most cases the Government take ranges from 45% to 65% of the crude.

Secondly even if we assume government takes 50%,not all of that belongs to FEDERAL GOVERNMENT!! It will still be shared at FAAC to all tiers of government.

How do you want to share it? You want to run cable to 200 houses? Or which WiFi modem has enough coverage for 200 houses? That many devices across 200 houses will degrade the speed to becoming almost unusable.

Point of correction, it was never a project by Muhammadu Buhari!

It was a brainchild of GEJ which his administration paid the contractors to handle just before Buhari was sElected into office.

Let's state facts the way they truly are!
That's a big lie!! GEJ did not pay any contractor anything for the project. Funds were mobilised and paid by Buhari from the Sovereign Investment Fund and I think some Sukuk bonds before the work really took off. The work has barely stopped During Buhari tenure, albeit a little slow, but that's the case with projects in Nigeria due our terrible logistics systems.

Just imagine the kind of questionable people that bought these discos. Nigeria is in a total mess. I can bet everything that apart from Abuja and Lagos discos. Others didn't invest anything to upgrade their assets.
I think it has less to do with the people that bought the assets and more to do with the many structural issues in the electricity sector among which include a non cot reflective tarrif, massive electricity theft, incapacitated, TCN, people not even paying their bills, poor legal framework etc

All this talk of questionable people buying the assets is just cheap beer parlour talk for the uninformed. Nigerians typically cannot analyze real issues and like to proffer shallow reasons for the issues we have.

Govt is social service not profit making venture. That's why we need competent people at the helm of governance. They know how to balance the book.

The solution to Nigerian electricity problem is complete decentration of the whole system- generation, transmission, and distribution. The burden on national grid is not sustainable and will eventually collapse. No matter the tarrif or fund pumped into it.
The Nigerian exclusive list is a joke. It's the main hindrance to Nigerian economic prosperity.
I repeat, No Nigerian can afford the real cost of electricity. It's laughable to think tarrif hike will solve electricity problem.
There is nothing fantastic about the real cost of electricity. Even if its N800 Kwh, its better than running generators that cost thrice as much from a Kwh basis.
