The era of bandits taking over Army bases should be a thing of the past! I still cannot understand how bandits are attacking an Army base for 5hours and their is no air support! In fact, we should have drones in the air circling around major conflict areas 24/7, such that if bandits are reported, the drones can be there in say 30minutes. If the drones takes out their vehicles from the air, they cannot run, then we send choppers with heavy machine gun to mop them up and finally the troops an emerge for final death.

Byaktar drone is like just $5mln. Na $100mln for like 20 drones Nigeria no get?? In fact I hear there is a Chinese one for like $2mln.

Spending $1.2b just to build an infrastructure that generates 700 megawatt shows you how much of a criminal Nigerians actually are.

In other countries where there's low level of corruption, $1.2 is enough to build generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure for 1000 megawatt of electricity.

Don't be too smart by half! A considerable cost of construction is logistics.

Other countries have well established and efficient port, road, rail transport systems which ensure equipment that is imported can get to a site in the hinterland in matter of days.

In Nigeria I can imagine the logistics nightmare of getting those turbines from Apapa port to Zungeru.

So to just slap cost of same project in US or Germany on Nigeria isn't very smart.

We should also have purchased 20 of the of the Turkish Bayrakter drones, and which can stay airborne for like 27 hours and carry 4 smart bombs with surveillance cameras.

I'd deploy 5 to the Niger Delta to tackle bunkering and illegal refining sites, 5 to the Gulf of Guinea to tackle pirate attacks on ships. 5 in the North West and 5 in the North East and the remaining 5 on border patrol to counter smugglers.

Each one costs $5mln, so total cost with munitions and training would be maybe $120mln

I thunk we overuse this State of emergency phrase in Nigeria now. What exactly does it mean for Nigeria when we have a broke, corrupt and incompetent government? At least in US we know it means national guard will be deployed and federal disaster agency will get involved. Here we don't even know how to deal with basic problems of roads, rail, drainage, traffic etc. Its now disaster!

I see Tinubu avoiding presidential debate sef. The few times I hear him speak at gatherings sef, he seems to be rambling and slurring a bit. It's clear that his cognitive capacity is diminished. He will be another vegetable in office like Buhari. I would have voted for a Tinubu of 15 years ago. Not this vegetable before us now!!

Having a jetty at that location is a very good idea.

It will be nearing completion until the elections are over, then they will stall the project for another 4 years. It is only foolish people that fall for such gimmicks.

It takes Lagos state more than 12 years to complete a fully functional railway terminal whereas Anambra initiated and completed an airport in 8 months which is already operational.

I guess the railway workers are more worried about urchins that will be defecating on the tracks or the absence of owomida in those areas once it's operational, SMH.

You were initily making sense until you said an airport was initiated and completed in 8 months!

Do you think governments in California where you have wildfires every year have emergency homes for people to relocate to? Or states in the hurricane belt like Texas, New Orleans and Florida?

A few years ago when I was in houston, and a hurricane was threatening to come our way, the government told residents to be prepared to leave of the warning came. We had packed emergency supplies in the boot of the car and made arrangement with my sisters who lives like 3hours North of Houston. US government didn't provide anywhere for me or other residents to relocate to.

And in 2017 or so when Katrina hit Houston, people relocated to friends houses, churches, and stadiums etc. Govt did not give them house to relocate to. Though the govt emergency response in US is far, far better than what we have here.

So stop these types of comments as though govt does everything for everyone abroad.

Of recent times a number of press releases from the Lagos state government have made comments saying that one third of Lagos is under sea level! What exactly is the science that backs it up? If parts of Lagos is under sea level, then where are the dykes that are holding the water back?

We just like to make silly, unsubstantiated comments in this part of the world to mask our incompetence in dealing with floods.

All we need is to keep existing drainages free from refuse at all times. We don't even need n new ones. In some parts of VI, you won't even know that drainage is in some areas. All totally blocked!

Which one is slave mentality!! I'm a realist not a sentimentalist. I am constantly thinking how to make more money and invest wisely for the future. Not wishing for things to become cheaper and for Nigeria to go back to how it was in 1975! Those days are gone and ain't coming back.

Even in America there is normal gradual inflation, even if its 1%. What $10,000 will buy you in 1975 America, you'll need like $18,000 today!!

My father told me long ago that never pray for the price of things to come down, but rather pray that you will always be able to afford it! And that's my mantra.

So between the two of us, its clear I'm the one who has something reasonable to pass on to my kids, while you will likely pass on your same poverty mentality!!
