KaptainAfrika: You can wake up one morning, put a call to your driver's wife and tell her you will take care of her, you prove this by sending her 500,000.00 Naira. You satiate your lust with her, and she gets pregnant as a result. This is where you rich privilege in Nigeria kicks in - you won't pay child-support for life, everyone will blame the woman and your wife won't divorce you. You read your wife's IG Post swearing for homewreckers and declaring how much your love for each other is very much strong while her tailor comes out of the shower and joins you in bed in the hotel you booked for your tryst. Note: Don't try it in the West, you will be so bankrupt ehn!
Gerrard59: While discussing with some buddies yesterday, we touched on the topic “moving back to Nigeria”. I argued that Nigeria is not safe. Sure, there are places that are pretty “safe”. However, my notion of safety is when other people elsewhere can go about their normal activities without fear. For instance, I don’t consider a place safe if one part of the area keeps suffering repeated attacks from Fulani herdsmen (like Southern Kaduna and Plateau). I don’t have to be the affected party, but others who go about their normal activities should feel safe doing them. The other guy countered that, with money, one could enjoy Nigeria. “Live in Maitama, run Lister generator and live quietly.” Also, you get to be in a place where almost everyone looks like you.
Upon hearing “…with money, one can enjoy Nigeria”, I asked him to list five things/ways one can enjoy Nigeria as long as the person has money. Surprisingly, he could not mention one thing/way. I thought it wise to throw it to the house, especially for those who are anti-Japa or those who have stayed abroad for a long time and currently reside in Nigeria.
As someone with money, what exactly does the person enjoy in Nigeria? What are the differences compared to his/her counterpart in say, Namibia or Canada/UK that also has money? How do you enjoy Nigeria provided the money is available?
P.S. I understand that the notion of “enjoyment” is largely subjective. Some enjoy going to parties, while others enjoy travelling around or even reading a book while in a park. But I believe there are some universal notions of enjoyment.
Good question. Even as a relatively comfortable or rich person, quality of life in Nigeria is still pretty low. Security remains an issue and being very comfortable could make you a target, traffic is still a frustration especially if you are in Lagos, electricity is still not 24\7 without generator or inverter, everywhere still looks like slum, filth everywhere etc.
ShaqFu: Let's hope the price will be cheaper than that of brt and they won't give flimsy excuses just because they want to increase the price like they did with brt.
What is important is that the fare is able to cover operational costs so that the train doesn't fall apart
JOemmy: I don't even think obi will continue with it he will rather prefer to use the money to link lagos to east that makes more economics sense.
This argument for the Lagos to East railway is mainly on sentiment. In reality it does not make as much economic sense. Trains are viable and profitable for goods, not passengers. Igbo people, even as often as they go home cannot make it viable. Since there are ports in Warri,PH, Uyo and Calabar, why must my goods come to Lagos port, then I use Lagos PH rail to take my goods to Aba, when they should be going to PH or Calabar port directly.
The rail is more important to head inland, not along the coast.
Akinsete19: Lol, maybe China refused to give them a loan
That is exactly what happened. China's economy has suffered a bit in the last 3years due to multiple COVID related shutdowns,so they are not feeling as generous as the used to be .
This car costs $160,500 to purchase. let's say you spent $100,000 clearing and shipping it, and a whooping $70,000 as profit, making it a total of $330,500 which is approximately N192,000,000. So where is the 335m coming from
owobokiri: The nepotistic inbreds at the EFCC headquarters are cleverly trying to use his London situation to hold him down over there while that crook at The EFCC head office sells off his choice estates to pro establishment characters from the north and Niger republic. It may sound wild to you but follow this news item going forward. All they want to do is to use corrupt judges here to seize his heavy landed properties all over the place and redistribute those to their lazy ethnic henchmen.
Really!! So his travails has nothing to do with the attempt to harvest organs from a deprived Nigerian youth!
Nigerians never take responsibility for their issues. It's always someone else's fault!
Bmaster: OGA , because you are staying in Lagos is not a good reason to see life as easy everywhere ! Go to some rural villages they still don't network mast, It's like you haven't been disappointed by network issues before ba ?
If a village is so rural and remote that it doesn't even have any network,it's unlikely resident of such village will be trading with large volumes of cash. Such villagers will be subsistence farmers for which a N10k daily transaction is likely sufficient.
Human being follow where money is being made. If there was anything about such a village that was requiring more cash than that, then people would have moved in and gsm will follow.
No one has said don't transact in cash. just that you can't withdraw more than certain amounts. Besides if the place is so remote, there is likely not a bank branch anywhere there, so what do they care about how much they can withdraw. The small money they use daily is probably kep under the mat.
Bmaster: they better revise this policy after election oo. Let's just believe it's Targeted at politicians, but if after election this continues, there will be a great destabilization of businesses in the land ooo
Which destabilization. People should learn new technology I beg. If people in the village can learn to use phones and send text, why is ussd or mobile money too hard for them? The journey of a million miles starts with a first step.
dre11: Twenty-seven days to the commencement of the implementation of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) policy on cash withdrawal, top politicians and candidates vying for…
Agent no get bank account ni? And does an agent need more than N5k for lunch? Who will be selling food on election day def? You see that people who don't mean well for Nigeria will just be using silly excuses.
cyrusmillz: Omo, so it's true that most of these celebs are lowkey pervs. What is wrong with these guys ?
Calm down. Masturbation is a normal pay off life. Other than religion that conditions your mind, there is not a lot wrong with it. It's perhaps as natural as the instinct to have sex itself.
Beedude: Fashola was right. Until the privatisation agreement Discos signed with past administration expires, there is nothing any minister or president can do. An agreement is an agreement. Why not get a prepaid meter instead. Free prepaid meter takes time but if u visit the unit in charge at any nepa office close to u, u can get an official to facilitate or fast track it for a token(make sure it is their office). I stopped using estimated billing in my house and office since 2020. We were on lockdown and electricity was poor but I still get 18k bill monthly at home and office. It was Hell. A nepa official who isn't your mate will have the audacity to talk to u becos of a bill u never used .It triggered me to apply for 3 prepaid meters and got it in less than 2 months. So stop cursing Fashola. There are so many things attached to all these Discos that so many people are not aware. I hope FG can allow state generate and distribute electricity as well. Once there is competition in the industry, things will be fine
You know most Nigerians will not get up from their chair and go to hustle for this meter at their electricity office. They are waiting for manna from heaven for pre paid meter to drop on their laps. If it's important to them, they should make some effort.
Invest4growth: Deception galore. Where will the funds to pay be sourced. You need 160 percent of expected revenue to service debt in 2023. That is Waiting for the incoming administration. Political power will become a no-go area when You consider the deep rooted issues to be confronted. Nigerians are not willing to accept deception. So parties are urged to properly dimension the issues on ground
Get rid of petrol subsidy for one. Problem. Half-solved
fkj950ax: I am also wondering how they intend to pay these salaries. 80k salary comes with pension and bonuses and 13th month and misc. Is it from the economy that has achieved negative earnings year on year and currently borrowing to stay afloat?
It's pretty easy.
First implement Orasanye report. Close some agencies and merge others. And sack useless, unproductive staff. Left to me over 3years those on government payroll need to reduce by at least 30%.
Second, minimum wage should cater to lowest workers only. Someone earning N500k a month should not be adjusted for now. That helps to close the gap between the bottom and the top earners.
Third, we remove subsidy. That frees up some cash.
Fourth, We reduce other wastages in government. We can save tens of billions by being very intentional in reducing overhead and admin costs.
Labour party and its daft presidential candidate will just be spewing figures around like an amateur.
Is this achievable economically and financially? You want to wreck the country down. In a country where continous payment of subsidy is taking a toll on the country.
Labour party think we are all fools who dont know how things works. It is more like telling a kid you will buy aeroplane for him/her . How?
Stop raving like a madman. How about we get rid of the subsidy and use that to pay for the increase minimum wage. Besides an increased minimum wage doesn't need to go to everybody. And increase minimum wage is only relevant for the lowest car of staff, not directors and ministers and all. Those types of stuff can have their salaries caps at the current level.
COMPAQ: Are you minding him. They think crude oil is free. Why would NNPC give crude to refinery for free and forego the chance to earn $80 for it? Natural resource or not!? When is not like its unlimited in the ground. The only benefit of local refining is jobs, industrial development, less import and its benefit on Naira, and no shipping costs.
Or you think Shell or Chevron will sell their share of the crude production to Nigerian refineries at less than global markets abi?
Nigeria being a major oil producer or not. She doesn't control the price of crude..if we had working refineries fuel prices will still be close to what we have today . excluding the inflation attached to it due to scarcity

SirJerrie: Mister, What exactly are you saying? This has Absolutely NOTHING to do with Opportunity Cost Nigeria was the leading oil producer in Africa as of 2021. Oil production amounted to roughly 78 million metric tons in the in the country. How can you complain of "high cost" on your own NATURAL RESOURCE?
Nigeria has three state-owned refineries, NONE of them is functioning...
And you say Opportunity Cost?
So because something is a natural resource means we should fritter it away abi! This has everything to do with opportunity cost. Thatbis basic economics. The opportunity cost of cheap subsidised petrol or diesel is the hospitals that aren't built, schools, roads, bridges, airports, ports etc that are not built to make Nigeria competitive in the global stage.
Curious345: This is proof ,that you are a stark illiterate. So so sorry to expose you .. study to show yourself approved ...
You have said nothing that makes sense yet. What exactly is your point. How about having an intelligent conversation instead of resulting to childish insults.
donsheddy1: The challenge has always been how to get paid in this nation. The country is just frustrating all efforts to get money for services rendered.
Job they've not provided yet they keep getting life so unbearable for hard-working Nigerians.
Na must say we all must japa to survive?
Any suggestions will be welcomed right now.
Cant you open a USD domiciliary account in Nigeria and have them pay to it?
Alternatively, how about you open a bank account in the US and have them pay into that. Though tobdobthis, you will likely have to be physically in the US.
LEXYNIL: The Teranga lions are well motivated and ready to tackle any opponent in this on going FIFA World Cup 2022. It's clear that they don't rely on any player in their team even without the likes Saido Mane and others because they strongly believe what they will do in today encouter to beat the three lions of England. Goodluck to the Africa Champions as they are eyeing quarter final stage in the tourment.
