TravelRe: Why NRC Increased Abuja-Kaduna Train Fare by COMPAQ(m): 10:05pm On Dec 04, 2022
High cost of diesel globally is a problem caused by many external factors such as covid, energy transition, rebound of global travel, Ukraine war etc

How ironic!! smiley
An oil-producing country complaining about "High cost of diesel"

How much more shameful can it be??
There is nothing shameful about it. It is economic reality. Nigeria does not control price of crude in the global market. Even as an oil producer there is something called opportunity cost. I cannot have the opportunity to sell my crude at $90, onlybcome sell at $30 for the sake of cheap local diesel.

8 years? APC members need mental and psychological check up.
Amaechi also dualised the following roads:

Stadium Road
Rumuomasi road
Trans Amadi road
NLNG Road
Odili Road
Air force base road
Old Aba rd
Woji road
Ikwere road
NTA Mgbuoba road
Rumuola road

And quite a few more I can't even remember now. Amaechi schools were also top notch until Wike and and and messed it all up.

For me, Amaechi was the better performing governor of the two.

They’ve already sold NNPC , have you seen any change yet?
Another uninformed Nigerian. NNPC has not been sold. It was just converted to a Limited Liability Company to stand on its own, instead of being run as a Ministry of government.

So they no longer contribute to FAAC or Federation Account like an agency like Customs or FAAN might. Instead they pay taxes like every other oil company. Likewise Ministry of Petroleum no longer pays their salaries. The salaries are paid inhouse with their own revenue, so no longer budgeted in national budget.

The same thing happened with Epcl petrol chemicals in eleme, Port Harcourt for example was sold all in the name of privatization for effectiveness.
Still today I have not seen the usefulness of that privatization.
You guys are so ill informed! That's the problems with Nigerians, they refuse to take the time to educate themselves, even with google at their fingertips. I wonder what you all do with your phones? Just aimless senseless chat and videos that kills your brain. A google search will tell you that the former Eleme Petrochemicals is now Indorama Petrochemicals and that company is doing fantastically well last I checked.

Its not as common as billionaire entrepreneurs and founders, but it can happen.

The current CEO of Apple Tim Cook was not a founder/owner like Steve Jobs. He rose through the ranks and became CEO. With his executive pay (which includes bonuses and stock options), he is now worth $1.8bln. No be career be that? Afterall as CEO he is still an employee.

There was a time I studied in the UK. One day, I got into a car with some friends, (church things), and we went on the expressway. I noticed all the painted lines, with very thick paint. And I asked them, how come their own paint is still on their road? Our own Nigerian paint don clean comot tey-tey. They just replied that road lines are there, because it's regularly painted there.
Though this image is google maps, it is exactly as I saw it back then.
Its also because in Nigeria in most cases we use normal paint. Whereas abroad they use thermo plastic paint that it hard and stays on the road for much longer. Its only JB and a few other bigger road construction companies that use the proper thing.

However, when it eventually fades off, they renew regularly. Also they drive in the lanes a lot more over there, so the tyres don't rub against it as much, compared to here where we drive anyhow. Our weather is harsher as well.

Ireportlive:
huh

We need digital toll gate system

UK, US, UAE all have digital toll gates that pays private contractors to manage Federal roads

A normal human being shouldn't be pained by paying N300 naira to service every 50km of Federal roads he passes

Nigerian Infrastructural deficit won't be tackled if we keep thinking Niger Delta "Oyel" is the only means of financing infrastructure

.
True that! I'd rather pay N500 toll to drive on a smooth, well marked, privately managed Lagos Ibadan expressway than drive on a pot hole riddled version managed by the FG. Whether it should be or not is another matter, but reality is that in Nigeria, what belongs to government belongs to nobody. The minute the road is completed, no body in the Ministry looks at it again until it falls apart and its time to award another contract.

Oh oh ask me o! We Nigerians are just proud for nothing. We offer nothing to the world except Yahoo, yahoo, fraud, scams, drugs, cults etc. But we want to be forming creating our own airline when we are not even organised enough to manage roads, and drainage, street lights etc.

Are we saying we don't have the money to float a carrier or we are too incompetent to manage it hence the cold feet we are developing.
Both. Nigeria is close to broke. Spending $1bln on an airline right now shouldn't be our priority. Now that we don't have Nigerian Air, is there anywhere in the world you want to go to that you cannot?

And yes we are too incompetent to manage it properly. Evidence abounds around us already.

savcy:
If oil is the principal exchange commodity of the country, and the assumption is that the value of our currency is tied to the price per barrel of oil, how come the Naira plummets in value arbitrarily, and without explanation, all when the price of oil is high? What sort of economy are we operating? A country that celebrates BLACK MARKET fx rates to the detriment of her OFFICIAL fx rates cannot be taken seriously. We're still joking with our fiscal policy with the BDCs still around. Redesign notes, raid BDC offices... All will amount to nothing on the long run. When all is said and done, and the dust settles the hydra headed demon called the BDCs would again rear up their ugly head and wreak financial havoc. Jokers!
The reason Naira depreciated even during high oil prices was because of unparalleled crude oil theft, which caused a lot of shut downs. For an extended period in the last 3-6months, no single drop was exported from Forcados Terminal and Bonny terminal -2 or our biggest terminals. So of course the country was not earning jack from there, hence our oil production dropped to as low as 900l barrels per day. For a country that should be doing 1.6mln to 1.8mln per day. Calculate the loss of 700k barrels per day for the past 10months at an average of $105, then see how much foreign exchange the country was loosing.

This is the first time in my adult life that the currency has depreciated at t time of high oil prices. We normally suffer depreciation when there is a crash in crude oil prices.

After this, the next one we need is the line to go along the Lekki axis. Good enough the Lekki road is pretty straight from Oniru axis.

I think that one is called the green or yellow line in the LASG rail master plan. That will greatly help the traffic in that axis if implemented well.
