Aconomist:Add Defence Headquarters to that list. |
Aconomist:It is abandoned because of traffic and markets and area boys. While there is traffic everywhere in VI and Lagos, but if you get stuck on Lagos Island, particularly Broad street on the market side it can be frustrating. Also the human traffic, filth etc doesn’t make the environment look nice for many corporate head offices that want a posh environment. It’s only the companies with huge investment in Head Office building like UBA, Wema Bank, Union Bank and FIrst Bank that remain there. Unfortunately any attempt to redevelop Lagos Ilsand will fail because of the many ancestral homes there. They will not sell and besides even if you were able to get like 5hectares, corporates will still not buy it because there will still be slums, markets and area boys near you. Except the ENTIRE Lagos Island is taken over and redeveloped. |
Whoknowsme:That means you are a benefactor of corruption. Because that was why Abuja was swimming in money before. |
rossniti:Abuja is perhaps the only proper city we have in Nigeria. The rest are all slums including lagos. If care is not taken though, same thing will happen to Abuja. Thank God El Rufai restored some sanity to that place. |
iamDrRhymes:Exactly. Not seen a set of people that like to bury their head in sand and pretend all is well like Nigerians. Then when matter explode, they run helter-skelter like they had no idea it was coming. This betting thing is already a pandemic amongst the youth. |
Twelfthman:What Osaze said is actually quite correct. |
dre11:So why not plan sting operations to set them up and root out corrupt judges!? It ain't rocket science. |
LegendVibes:While it is true that she is self made, the constant reference to it is a bit childish and unnecessary. It shows a lack of humility. There are thousands of tech billionaires in America and you don't see this constant reference to self made all over the place. |
Islie:Story. Rice that you will never see to buy. Then APC will start giving out to Mc Oluomo to share. |
NwaAmaikpe:Dey there! |
This country is a real travesty of justice. Never seen a country that like to chase shadows like Nigeria. Boko Haram and herdsmen the cannot stop or catch, yet they have all the time for end sars. |
Another reason why the stadium should be privatised. If the stadium we ere being used regularly and generating income, would weed be an issue in the first place? NLC will soon come out against plans to concession the stadium, yet their own members who work there add no value to the facility. Does the stadium not have a groundsman. |
So is Banky W now claiming to be born again? |
I've said for a while and I'll say it again. If all these new train services are left in the hands of the government they will all stop functioning by 2025. Nigeriabis the worst country to leave services for government to manage. The best way is to privatise railway services in Nigeria. Let the tracks be owned and managed by one company, while other companies own and run the service itself. Similar to how many airlines use the same airport and pay landing fees etc. Government is going to ruin these railways and we will be paying loans for what isn't even working. |
Flyingngel:Bullet trains are not in use everywhere and there is nothing wrong with the types of trains we bought. |
Its not about exiting recession. Recession is an academic construct, defined by mathematical formula that does not mean much to the average Nigerian because their is no linkage. What interests Nigerians is how the economy improves to the extent that infrastructure improves, jobs are created and people have more money to spend and their quality of life improves. |
Kekereekun123:The most stupid decision of government in the last decade. Just think where those refineries would be now worth jobs created and revenue earned for government from taxes. |
ouzo1:Pictures are probably touched up. Particularly the hips area. |
ivolt:Very well said. I struggle to see the correlation between the levy and daily costs of operating the vehicle. The levy is one off, but costs of doing business such as fuel, maintancence, etc are daily. Having said that I do support the deregulation of petrol though. But the point is the government need to be smarter. Having good roads and also effective train services may be more useful in the long run for efficient transfer of food products across the country than reduction in levy. |
Yenefer:You must be crazy if you really believe what you have typed up there. ![]() |
Article doesn't say exactly what the bursar did while in office. It's possible that the bursar is right while the union is wrong. Perhaps they have been collecting illegal money which the bursar stopped and they hate him for it. Kemi Adeosun had a similar experience with ministry of finance staff then when she stopped bogus allowances and they were up in arms against her, but she prevailed because she was right legally. |
seniormallam:That's not the government's job bro. Owner of truck should find a parking spot that does not contravene the law. |
Originalsly:Absolutely right. When starting the business didn't the truck owners have a plan for where to park them? Well obviously not, but the road is not the place. FG should act for once and stop talking!! |
dre11:This is part of the incompetence of FG. So tanker drivers are now more powerful than the laws of the land? Parking heavy trailers on the road has become the norm all over the country, wrecking the roads, yet the FG just turns ablind eye. Like Fashola said, if trucking is your business then plan for well designed trailer parks along expressways that do not deface and destruction the road and do not cause a nuisance for other road users. |
NwaNimo1:So how is China able to construct bridges 10tines in length in 3years? Why is everything rocket science in Nigeria? JB should be working night and day under protection of Army for security. The bridge in the link below is 164km. Almost the length of lagos ibadan expressway and it took just 9 years!! https://www.newscientist.com/article/2183290-worlds-longest-sea-bridge-opens-between-hong-kong-and-mainland-china/#:~:text=China%20is%20also%20home%20to,water%20between%20Shanghai%20and%20Nanjing. |
MRSAWEDOFF:Government should remove itself from running these train services otherwise by 2025 mark my words, it would have fallen to pieces. |
So just like that because senate requested and president agreed, a road just changes from 2 lane to 3 Lane overnight! No serious analysis was done with respect to vehicle flow on that road, long term demands etc. That axis already has train planned, which should be the long term focus for passenger and freight, yet the senators selfishly wanted it expanded to enjoy their luxury vehicles. |
Dedetwo:Jimmy Ibrahim and his like who rape Nigerian banks and cause them to fail at the detriment of those of us with small money there are the real sithole. |
infogeneral:Totally agree. Nigerian government has to find a way to restore a semblance of law and order. The more these touts are emboldened, the more they disobey the laws of the land and become uncontrollable. |
I am getting more worried now. After the END SARS thing, the masses have now seen that police really have no way to stop them except shooting. And if 50 police come up against 1000mob, police can only but run away. This will embolden mobs and criminals, especially now that police morale is at an all time low. And its the people that will bear the brunt of the mayhem on the streets. Nigeria is now beginning to suffer from the under investment in the police. No rubber bullets, no pepper spray, no tear gas, no riot gear, no hot water cannon etc to disperse crowds. So only option is to use bullets or run away. Not good for our police. In the America and Kong Kong protests, police almost matched protesters and with equipment they could hold their ground. |
sammy329:Sanwo Olu doesn't control Army or Police. Not sure there is much he can do. That Chief Security Officer tag is just that....a tag. |

are we too stupid to convert these structures into housing? What is wrong with Nigerians.
