This country is a real travesty of justice. Never seen a country that like to chase shadows like Nigeria. Boko Haram and herdsmen the cannot stop or catch, yet they have all the time for end sars.

Another reason why the stadium should be privatised. If the stadium we ere being used regularly and generating income, would weed be an issue in the first place?

NLC will soon come out against plans to concession the stadium, yet their own members who work there add no value to the facility. Does the stadium not have a groundsman.

I've said for a while and I'll say it again. If all these new train services are left in the hands of the government they will all stop functioning by 2025.

Nigeriabis the worst country to leave services for government to manage.

The best way is to privatise railway services in Nigeria. Let the tracks be owned and managed by one company, while other companies own and run the service itself. Similar to how many airlines use the same airport and pay landing fees etc.

Government is going to ruin these railways and we will be paying loans for what isn't even working.

Bullet trains are not in use everywhere and there is nothing wrong with the types of trains we bought.

Its not about exiting recession. Recession is an academic construct, defined by mathematical formula that does not mean much to the average Nigerian because their is no linkage.

What interests Nigerians is how the economy improves to the extent that infrastructure improves, jobs are created and people have more money to spend and their quality of life improves.

Foolish and regressive policy. Everyone knows that fuel price is responsible for high transportation costs and not import duties. If fuel price is slashed today, the effect will be immediate unlike the duty reduction whose effects is dubious.

Very well said. I struggle to see the correlation between the levy and daily costs of operating the vehicle. The levy is one off, but costs of doing business such as fuel, maintancence, etc are daily.

Having said that I do support the deregulation of petrol though. But the point is the government need to be smarter. Having good roads and also effective train services may be more useful in the long run for efficient transfer of food products across the country than reduction in levy.

It's possible that the bursar is right while the union is wrong. Perhaps they have been collecting illegal money which the bursar stopped and they hate him for it.

Kemi Adeosun had a similar experience with ministry of finance staff then when she stopped bogus allowances and they were up in arms against her, but she prevailed because she was right legally.

If you want to have a truck... you must plan where to park it. It is not for the FG to provide parking.... we always look for the FG to provide everything. Their responsibility is to provide the highways..... and to enforce the no parking rules. This is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to invest in truck parks.... but we can't see such opportunities.

This is part of the incompetence of FG. So tanker drivers are now more powerful than the laws of the land? Parking heavy trailers on the road has become the norm all over the country, wrecking the roads, yet the FG just turns ablind eye. Like Fashola said, if trucking is your business then plan for well designed trailer parks along expressways that do not deface and destruction the road and do not cause a nuisance for other road users.

Passengers in an Abuja-kaduna bound train lamented after their train broke down on the middle of nowhere for over 2 hours without any help coming from Railway cooperation.

The visibly distraught passengers had no option than to disembark from their coaches, wilt some sitting down on the rail tracks as they patiently wait for technicians to come fix the train.

Government should remove itself from running these train services otherwise by 2025 mark my words, it would have fallen to pieces.

So just like that because senate requested and president agreed, a road just changes from 2 lane to 3 Lane overnight!

No serious analysis was done with respect to vehicle flow on that road, long term demands etc. That axis already has train planned, which should be the long term focus for passenger and freight, yet the senators selfishly wanted it expanded to enjoy their luxury vehicles.

Totally agree. Nigerian government has to find a way to restore a semblance of law and order. The more these touts are emboldened, the more they disobey the laws of the land and become uncontrollable.

I am getting more worried now. After the END SARS thing, the masses have now seen that police really have no way to stop them except shooting. And if 50 police come up against 1000mob, police can only but run away.

This will embolden mobs and criminals, especially now that police morale is at an all time low.

And its the people that will bear the brunt of the mayhem on the streets.

Nigeria is now beginning to suffer from the under investment in the police. No rubber bullets, no pepper spray, no tear gas, no riot gear, no hot water cannon etc to disperse crowds. So only option is to use bullets or run away. Not good for our police.

In the America and Kong Kong protests, police almost matched protesters and with equipment they could hold their ground.

Well its not bad, but certainly not worth N1bln in my view. Maybe because its ikoyi. I have seen houses with far better exterior and interior in Pinnock Beach, Victory Park and Ikota Villa.

Issues I have with it:

Interior layout and design is poor.

Lighting fixtures are not modern

Dark light switches against light painted wall does not exhude class

Kitchen could be better

Are those really blue and green LED light fixtures all over the place?

Wardrobes are just wood work placed on the floor. Not properly integrated into the wall.

Inverter system looks out of place where it is as though its an afterthought. Not sure why someone with a N1bln house is afraid to blow his gen.

Doors look poorly done.

For N1bln house i might as well have central air con with vents all over the house. Split units all over the place are ugly.

Windows are also ugly old school sliding, as opposed to quality, modern casement windows.

How can any sane government and people allow N1trn to be spent on subsidy, yet education, health, police, road budget combined is not up to N1trn.

I am yet to see anyone on Nairaland who buys a phone for N50k and is selling it for N40k. Or in the auto section, i am yet to see any Nigerian who is selling 2015 Toyota Camry for N4mln after buying it from US for N5mln!
