Spacopendragin:
Price regulations should be paramount in our economy..before this capitalists kill all of us with price increase in the name of profit maximisation...
Dude it doesn't work anywhere. What works is an efficient economy and competition to hold the price steady or reduce it. Having said that, even with the above if the fundamentals of the market shifts I.e much higher energy costs, it may need to be passed on to consumers.

Its all very simple economics.
PoliticsRe: Anybody Caught Selling Cement Above N2,500 Will Face Full Wrath Of The Law - CPC by COMPAQ(m): 12:16pm On Nov 09, 2020
Since when is cement price regulated that CPC will say that those selling above N2500 will face wrath of the law? Government is full of stark illiterates.

If the END sars caused a back log of supply to many states, it is natural that demand will exceed supply and as any one who studied basic economics will know, the price will rise. As things normalise, the price will also normalise.

What govt should do is work towards removing barriers that cause bottlenecks in the supply chain. For eg, if rail were working, this might not have happened. That is why there is a clear link between infrastructure and having an efficient economy.

The government says it has no money, yet its not for COVID, FG and states would likely have sent Muslim and Christian abroad for pilgrimage.

We know that the real pilgrimage FG was interested in sponsoring was the Muslim one. The Christian one was only added after complaints of favouritism. Reality is that both should be cancelled.

And if you check properly you will find that there is still budget in 2021 for pilgrimage.

Sad.

I remember "The President" Ibeaubuchi's fight vs David Tua.

They set the record for most punches thrown.

Both of them, hard hitters. I watched Tua more and his left hook was something to see.
In fact, that fight is a mini classic. After that fight Ike was lining up for a world title fight before this happened.
PoliticsRe: El-Rufai: Nigeria Near Limit Of Capacity To Borrow by COMPAQ(m): 9:56am On Nov 06, 2020
omenka:
Buhari keeps skirting around an obvious solution to our many problems in a most irritating manner. I just dont understand what is wrong with him sometimes.

We can't afford more borrowing Mr President, the reasons are far too obvious, and so are the solutions.

The fastest solution to our myriad of financial troubles is to DRASTICALLY CUT BACK ON EXPENDITURE OF POLITICAL OFFICE HOLDERS!!!

Those of us who once fervently supported the ascension of Buhari to presidency did so with the firm belief that FRUGALITY would be his presidency's guiding principle- extreme pruning of the cost of running the government.

Do away with the excess cars and presidential air fleet.

Do away with unnecessary purchase of reusable stuffs such as new kitchen utensils in yearly budgets when we know these items can be used for a decade without going bad!

Do away with excess allowances. It is sacrilegious one earns allowances in mundane stuffs running unto hundreds of percentages of ones salary. Haba!!

Cut back on these things at the executive end and put extreme pressure on the legislature to tow the same path, and if they dont, they'd have Nigerians to answer to.

These are very simple stuffs I thought he could do, things that would have significantly improved his job approval ratings, but then, baba bungled it.

So mighty disappointed!
Honestly, like you I had high hopes for Buhari in his first time. I admit I voted for him, but by the first 2 years, it was apparent I had made a huge mistake.

The guy has zero intellect to run a country!
The guy is heavily ethnic and religious intolerant!
The guys is slow and ineffective!
The guy is not in charge of his government!
The guy has zero emotional intelligence to feel the pulse of his people.

Unfortunately PDP did not do itself any favours by bringing Atiku against Buhari, as many had the opinion that he was tainted by corruption, at least according to Obasanjo.
PoliticsRe: Ossiomo Power Plant Begins 24-Hour Power Supply To Facilities In Edo State by COMPAQ(m): 11:14am On Nov 05, 2020
I am not sure if the idea that individuals can get power from the plant is correct. Edo state government had better check with NERC first.

What I remember is that to but power from a producer, it cannot be less than 1MW or so, and no individual can buy that, except you stay in a fairly large estate and the deal is consummated as an estate.

Hausa can never ever represent Nigeria outside the shores of this country. Yet they want to keep ruling us.

In a working system where they can't play their ethnic and religion card they're practically useless.

Congratulations to the Igbos and yourbas...we Southerners should unite and wrestle power from the North.
Valid point and well said. America is a country that values the intellect. Unfortunately most of our northern politicians don't have academic intellect. All they know how to do is cut deals and display their tribal bigotry.

CastedAyo:
On-Air Personality Daddy Freeze has nominated rapper Falz as his choice for the 2023 presidency, Igbere TV reports.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the broadcaster shared his thoughts on why he chose Falz and also asked his followers to mention their preferred candidates.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CHH-KTShrNv/?igshid=12wzwge45m5kv

Falz has been at the forefront of the #EndSARS protest against police brutality which started on October 8 and continued for about two weeks before being hijacked by hoodlums.
It would never work, because he would never win. Let's stop kidding ourselves. What I would prefer for Falz, sowore, obi, Kingsley moghalu, fela durotoye and Co is that they contest for senate or house of reps. The path to getting those tickets won't be so difficult and then from there we can access what they are contributing to the political discussion and perhaps from there they can grow in 10 years or so to running for presidency.

The police only came to work before to set up roadblocks and harass innocent Nigerians to release N500 for them when papers are not complete, reporting an incident in the police station etc. The SARS and mopol take much more than that.

Now that they see that the mood of the people have changed and it will be less easy to do that (at least for now), they are not interested in coming to work.

Bottom line, the work they were coming before was for their own benefit and not for the benefit of Nigerians.

What is at the expense of Nigerians? MTN provides a service which you pay for. And you pay for it because you enjoy the service.

So why this mindset of "at Nigerians expense"
Toyota sells in USA, Benz sells in Japan and Ford sells in Germany. Glo operates Benin Republic. Dangote operates in more than 6 African countries.

Its called Global trade!!

envoymedia:
Gombe State Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Aishatu Umar Maigari has lost three of her brothers to a ghastly motor accident.

IgbereTV gathered that the motor accident occurred on Saturday, October 31, along Gombe-Kano road on their way to Kano.

The deceased were: Usman Umar Maigari, 30; Al’amin Sani Abdulkadir, 30 and Abdulkadir Umar Maigari, 27.

The were buried in Gombe on Sunday, November 1, according to Islamic rites.

Meanwhile, Gombe Governor Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has commiserated with the Commissioner and her family over the loss.

The Governor, in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Ismaila Uba Misilli, lamented the unfortunate loss of ''these promising lives at a time the state is tapping into the vast potentials of its vibrant young men and women for the progress and development of the state. ''

He said the loss was not only for their immediate family, but the state and the nation at large.

"Governor Yahaya, on behalf of the Government and people of Gombe state, extended his deepest condolences to their father; a seasoned administrator and elder statesman, Alhaji Umar Maigari, their sister, Dr. Aishatu Umar Maigari who is the state Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation and the entire members of the Umar Maigari family over the huge loss, praying Almighty Allah to comfort them and grant the deceased Aljannat Firdaus." the statement reads.

The fact that mobs were able to burn down 205 police stations nationwide shows the uselessness of our policing situation. This would have been impossible if our police had been properly funded and equipped. No proper riot gear, no rubber bullets, no pepper spray, no tear gas. Nothing, nada. All police men could do was to run away and leave the police stations behind to be destroyed.

Garrison JUNCTION FLYOVER Port Harcourt has been completed.
Where did this concept of painting bridges and kerbs black and white come from? Not sure what aesthetic or value it add. Yet we continue to paint in the manner nationwide as though our lives depend on it.

Why not leave it in its natural concrete colour or just whitewash it and place reflector signage on it.

Buhari

What is wrong with the president? Properties and lives are been lost and yet nobody is been held to account. Is the country now a Somalia or Afghanistan where there was no law?

Or is it because the things that are happening is not in the north hence his deliberate behaviour to ignore the South?
What is all this rubish? They are killing law enforcement agencies and no any reaction from government but if the police retaliated now, you will see a massive video online crying extrajudicial killings. Are the police not humans? Don't they have families?

Now my advice to the police is to start fighting back. Don't look while these hooligans kill and Miam you. Return fire for fire
What about the boy in Yaba that was lying on the floor and shot in cold blood?

What about the other video of the guy standing that a bullet hit on the head?

Or those killed at Lekki toll gate?

Surely all these people had families too.

The government is to blame for this anarchy.

We need an 'O to generate movement in Lagos.

Similar to what happened in Kwara for Saraki.

I think its about time we had a change in Lagos. We are being taken for granted.

I do agree with Seun Kuti. We need to fight for the following:

#EndPoliceBrutality
#EndIncompetentLeadership
#EndEducationalDeficiency
#EndBadRoads
#EndCorruptPoliticians
#EndHealthDeficiency
#EndNASSCorruption
#EndHighCostofGovernance
#EndNepotism
#EndCorruption

and many more

The worst of us is ruling the best of us. The average LG Chairman is a tout, because it's mostly those with NURTW connections that become LG Chairmen. How can such people be in government when we have intellectuals and professionals all over the place.

What is even worse is that slowly, these people make their way up to State Assembly and Commissioners. Fortunately, we haven't had their type as Governor yet, but that could still happen with MC Oluomo.

Nigeria needs the best brains to chart a path forward. Buhari and his government are an apology for the kind of brains we need to get Nigeria moving. Those in NASS are even worse!!

#EndSARS protesters have narrated how their act of kindness moved an Abuja traffic warden to tears, IgbereTV reports.

According to one of the protesters, Victor Daniel, the traffic warden was scared and wanted to run for his life after he saw the crowd approaching him. However after they stopped and explained that he had nothing to fear about, they went on to give him drinks, food, fruits, groundnuts, contributed money for him, took selfies with him and also encouraged him.

The Facebook user further revealed that shortly after the protesters left, the man bent over shyly and cried.

Can't an accomplished politician prosper in peace again?

A man that singlehandedly built Lagos from scratch doesn't deserve to own a mansion. Now I know how backward people's reasoning are in this part of the world.
What nonsense scratch did he build Lagos from?? Did we not have Marwa before him who is also acknowledged to have done a good job? Or Lateef Jakande? You are a classic example of what is wrong with this country. How is a governor in a poverty stricken country like Nigeria, who was only comfortable before he became governor, not rich, suddenly ablebto afford a mansion of this nature.
