Indeed. Hopefully we can now afford more recent cars. Like 10 years ago quite a number of Nigerians could afford new cars, especially if you worked in a bank or oil company. But with devaluation and these import duty and import levy, accord of N5.2mln in 2013 went as high as N17mln in 2019.

Recently the 2020 Finance bill was passed by NASS and signed into law by Pres Buhari.

The bill contained provisions reducing vehicular import levy from 35% to 5%.

I am waiting for all the car dealers here to begin to reduce the cost of their comparable vehicles in the months to come.

How many trillions of Naira have the NDDC & the Niger Delta governors received in 20 years, that they couldn't develop the Niger Delta? Large proportion of the money was embezzled, the leaders have no vision, except for Akwa-Ibom state where we see the government investing in industries, airline, local production, etc... that is what visionary leaders do.
Except Akwa-Ibom state, all other Niger Delta governors and the successive NDDC management have been visionless!

Well said. The people of the South South and South East should take a good hard look at their governors for a change. The only city in Rivers State is PH, yet with all the money Rivers state gets, hard to see where it goes.

Train is less about human travel and more about cargo freighting. Rail lines dedicated to passenger traffic barely break even globally. Freight is what can sustain a rail line and make it profitable.

Does e.money pay any tax? Either personal income tax or property tax. If I were the state tax chairman, he'd be paying no less than N5mln a year as property tax for an "ultra luxury" residential property.

Not all suffering is financial. The stress of this country will kill you before your time even if you have money.

This is the real issue. The sustainability of Nigeria is up in the air. I know a lot of well to do people that could live comfortably in Nigeria but are still moving. Executive Directors in banks, oil company staff etc.

The main thing that would make me relocate now is security and long term viability of Nigeria cos the country just doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

The only reason why this money was not stolen is because it was aloan from China. And not the type of loan where they disburse cash, but the type of loan where the value is agreed and then the Chinese contractor does the work to specified standard.

That is the reason why the work was done quickly, so that China can start counting the loan very quickly. If it had been handled directly by the Ministry via contracting, it would never have seen the light of day.

Point I'm making is that it has less to do with Buhari or even Amsechi management skills and just the nature of the loan.

It is totally insufficient. To put it in context, Texas in USA has a budget of N48trln, for a state with 29mln people. And there counties (like local governments) have even bigger budgets than Lagos State. Even the CITY of Houston alone, with population of 2.5mln has a budget of N2trln.

So money available within Texas in totality for development, infrastructure etc will exceed N100trln.

I find is surprising that in Lagos lorry drivers stop themselves with public infrastructure, yet they are not made to pay for the public infrastructure. They just come And tow their vehicles and they are gone.

What we need are smart traffic lights that change frequency of green, Amber and red lights based on the flow of traffic and time of day.

It's really stupid that all the traffic lights on Ozumba all the way to Ajah all have the exact same timing sequence regardless of time of day or traffic flow.

The Solution is to open more registration centres.One centre to 50 people to do this fckin registration in open air not in closet where your staff convert into bank vault,because yu mention block sim without id numbr,your ncc staff are callin it goldmine to regis nin. If yu dont hav exploitative motive this registration is supposed to be a comtinuous exercise with no closing date.If they bloc ya sim they will unblock it when you eventually register.Is no big deal except that whn public in govt want to export citizens they cause panick and stampde for poor citizens to start bribing the govt staff to do their jobs.

And if it started under Jonathan, why have Nigerians not registered to now? I've had my NIN number for almost 5 years now.

The real benefit of this railway though is when cargo can be exited from Apapa to dry port in Ibadan. In fact the SW governors really need to collaborate and see how else this train can bring about development. It should also be easier to have industry in Abeokuta and Ibadan axis if this train can get materials there quicker and cheaper and also finished products back to Lagos market and for export.

Thats my main worry for this thing. If it stays with government, I see it being messed up within 5years. Nigerians sef are not clean. Too many people have filthy hands touching things all over the place. I tell my kids they can walk around the house without using the wall to go round corners.

Buhari doesn't have the intellectual capabilities to solve any problem in Nigeria.

While he may have been an Army General, but otherwise he is an intellectual illiterate.

Buhari has no emotional intelligence, no economic intelligence, no academic intelligence, no diplomatic intelligence, no technological intelligence! Absolutely NOTHING!

For every problem in Nigeria, I can think of a clear cut solution split into the short term, medium term and long term, based on my mental and reasoning faculty. Buhari has none of that. Thats why Nigeria is getting worse and worse.

Buhari had a crude oil price crisis in 2016. You would have thought the guy would be prepared for the next one, yet the 2020 crisis caught Nigeria even worse prepared than the first one!!

Exchange rate is worse under 6 years of Buhari (200 to 470), compared to last 30years (1 to 200)

Excess crude account depletion is worse thN ever under Buhari.

Foreign debt has increased by the most under Buhari government. Yet I am struggling to see the projects we have used it to do other than railway and airport. And if we do not monetize these assets, the loans will never be paid back.

Buhari has no clue!!

Of all the food places mentioned, not sure anyone is really thriving. They have all gone down from their heights 10years ago. Partly economy ,but partly management.

As 'good' as some of our private schools are, let your kids school abroad for 3 years and you will likely see a big difference in confidence and extra curricular capabilities.

Dangote is only surviving because he brought in Indian COO. That was the smartest thing he ever did. If he had put his children there ,it would have been the endbof his business, particularly after him.
