How won't education standard fall when jamb cut off down south is 300, but up north its 120!

We have way too many people in university that have no business being there. Mostly up north ,but also down south. If you go to state universities in particular, you see alot of people that have obviously been admitted just to make extra money from fees.

We have icpc, police special fraud unit, efcc and now Buhari formed another arm just for corruption and still corruption is still here. Now ordinary to obey traffic laws we need a special unit and many special units

That unfortunately is the way we are in this country. Nobody does their job. Yet they want to be paid and don't want to be sacked.

Not withstanding that things are hard, if education is considered important ,securing N67k over the course of 1 year is doable. Both by the parent and the student too. In the 50's our parent hacked, sold firewood etc and still schooled and made it.

Valid point! Cos in truth how many people can afford even N2k return daily? That would be around N40k per month. The cost one is avoiding in lagos, is it even up to N40k per month? Might be useful if the family can be in ibadan with lower rent and cost of living and then oga comes Friday and goes Monday.

Did you know that Americans borrow "student loans" to pay more than this covenant school fees just to attend university. Many of them never pay their loans back fully till death.

Yet we finish school, get government job and still refuse to resume early to work or attend to our fellow citizens unless they give us bribe.

It's not the country, it's the people.

That is very correct. The average American graduate finishes school with $50k to $80k in debt, which they pay back for upwards of 10 years. You would need to have a pretty good earning job and a lot of discipline to pay back in 5 years.

is it public universities with lecturers using same notes since 2010 that are not glorified secondary schools smh. Go to LinkedIn and see where products of private uni are. The creators of paystack were private uni graduates. No be by private or public university. Both are kuku sub standard

No mind am. 70% of the new intakes by Shell in the last 5 years or so in their finance department have been from Covenant. And the rest mainly from private universities. So if you like be castigating them, but their products are obviously deemed better than public university products.

Nigerians don't think sha. They should be using the airline pricing model where first class tickets are used to subsidize the coach tickets. Rich people will pay any amount for comfort on the train... so charge them 10,000 naira so you can make the coach tickets 500 -- 1,000 naira.

Monkey people.

Why this doesn’t work is that the rich can easily put their Prado on the road for a short trip like Lagos to Ibadan. The distance is not really that long. On the other hand people typically fly because it’s along distance not easily covered by road.

So let’s do a it of Economics 101. And let’s remove the fact that this train service is located in Nigeria or is owned by FG. Let’s just apply basic economics.

For a project that has just been completed for billions of dollars, the fixed cost and variable cost remain high. Therefore it is understandable that prices will be high in the interim for early adopters. As the rail line makes money and fixed costs are recovered, the marginal cost of operations will reduce as it will only be the operating expenditure that needs to be recovered. Besides the real economic value of a rail line is movement of freight, not passenger traffic.

This same thing applied to telecoms. As at the today the base stations are all in place and the license is fully recovered. All we are paying for now is cost of maintenance of the masts (diesel, electricity, security) and manpower costs. Which is why the real cost of telecoms has fallen sharply over the years. Consider that N1 per minute today is cheaper than N1per minute 3years ago if you consider devaluation and inflation.

We do not even have a rail line from Ibadan to Abuja. neither Kaduna to Kano. So how exactly does the line from Kano to Niger make sense huh

I know one of the biggest developers in Lekki, he's a Nigerian. Sijumoto, one of the most popular developers in Banana Island is a Nigerian too. So I don't know where you come up with your info from, simply because Chagoury is the one handling Eko Atlantic.

Banana Island in itself was created by Lebanese. Sujimoto is just buying land and developing properties there like any, other rich man can do. The concept and execution of Banana was by Lebanese. That’s what he’s trying to say. We Nigerians actually don’t have the discipline, vision and patience to create something like Banana. Asides night clubs, most of the nice businesses and fine dining restaurants in VI are owned by Lebanese. Mega Plaza, LG, Chocolate Royals, Crust and Cream, Park and Shop, Stallion Motors, Kia Motors, Cactus and many more. We find it difficult to run businesses for more than 3 to 5 years before it starts to fall apart, especially business that require brain power, coordination, planning and well timed execution. That’s we are only good at trading, buying and selling, import and selling. We don’t create anything.

Yea, I've been eagerly awaiting when Dangote builds his headquarters (he has the cash to build something truly spectacular). Total ENP is also planning a building called "La Definition" in Eko Atlantic to house its employees. Facebook is planning its HQ in Ikoyi I think, but it hasn't been announced yet. Folorunsho's Famfa oil is also building in Ikoyi.

Some of the indigenous oil companies such as Amni Oil have decided to go to Eko Atlantic instead of Marina. Here is the prototype of their tower. It is right next to Alpha 1. Construction expected to start in 2021.

How much does Amni Oil have that they want to build that?

Marina district used to be the heart of Lagos, and still hosts the city's most iconic towers. However, there is a stunning lack of investment in Marina compared to other areas such as Lekki, Ikeja, and Eko Atlantic. In fact, many of the iconic buildings are laying abandoned with no attempt at renovation or rehabilitation.

Marina is strategically located in between near the mainland and near many of the banking headquarters, so why is this distinct being so heavily neglected by property developers who haven't build any skyscraper here since the late 80s?

It is abandoned because of traffic and markets and area boys. While there is traffic everywhere in VI and Lagos, but if you get stuck on Lagos Island, particularly Broad street on the market side it can be frustrating. Also the human traffic, filth etc doesn’t make the environment look nice for many corporate head offices that want a posh environment. It’s only the companies with huge investment in Head Office building like UBA, Wema Bank, Union Bank and FIrst Bank that remain there.

Unfortunately any attempt to redevelop Lagos Ilsand will fail because of the many ancestral homes there. They will not sell and besides even if you were able to get like 5hectares, corporates will still not buy it because there will still be slums, markets and area boys near you. Except the ENTIRE Lagos Island is taken over and redeveloped.

Abuja is perhaps the only proper city we have in Nigeria. The rest are all slums including lagos. If care is not taken though, same thing will happen to Abuja. Thank God El Rufai restored some sanity to that place.
