what makes an engine smoke is usually bad piston rings in the cylinder or bad valve seals in the head.

the crankshaft is an easy one off part to change in an engine. you should only need new gaskets, coolant and the replacement crankshaft for the job.

since the engine is not a cast iron type but aluminium you will need an expert hands in opening and closing it up according to strict manufacturer clearances and specification.

if you leave the bad crankshaft invthe engine it will affect your liftersband valves and affect engine power/performance greatly and a botched job will mean you buy a replacement engine sooner.
