19CannyMum: It's advisable to do dental stuff in Nigeria. Our dentists are actually good especially in govt hospitals and there's a lot of ripoff here: you don't know if you actually have a problem, or if they just want to chop your money.
Solution is having employer paid health insurance that'll cover like 80%. Alternate solution is you might qualify for provincial coverage for such if you're below the poverty line.
Another solution is checking if the dental schools or colleges in your city have a program whereby students will work on your teeth for practice. Usually quite cheaper.
PS: sorry about the toothache.
The quote for 4 removals is clearly a rip-off. Typically, dentists would remove the tooth deserving the most urgent attention or maybe 2. Sometimes, removing just 2 solves the problem. I know there are a few cases of 4, but I've never seen that before. When no be the whole mouth dey pain...
The man, named Larry Odigie, from Benin, Edo state, was arrested when he went to confront a mattress seller to ask for his money back.
Odigie was paraded alongside a second man, Victor Jacob from Benue State, whom he had sent to buy the mattress.
Odigie, said he returned to Nigeria for his sister's wedding and has been carrying the gun around for his personal protection because of the insecurity situation in Nigeria.
He explained that on the fateful day, he sent Victor Jacob to buy him a mattress. However, when Victor returned with the mattress, he was not pleased with the quality so he returned it to the store.
However, he said that when he asked for his money back - 54, 000 Naira - the mattress sellers were not forthcoming.
Odigie's demand for a refund is said to have caused a scene and attracted people who then searched him and found a gun on him.
Odigie, who said he relocated to America at the age of 9, insisted that the gun was not to harm anyone, rather it was to protect himself.
He added that he's a medical doctor in the United States.
However, the vigilante and police officer who paraded him accused him of being a criminal.
Odigie kept insisting that he's innocent and asked them to check the gun to see that it has never been fired.
Video of the arrest and parade of the US-based doctor is now making the rounds online, with people sharing the opinion on the matter.
First and foremost, it is highly unlikely that this guy is a doctor. He's not a doctor. Secondly, he's definitely also not a criminal. Unfortunately, if you put yourself in a situation like this in this country, they WILL make you a scapegoat. No matter who you are. They'll rubbish your life. I guess that's what the dude is facing right now. You are at the mercy of a mob. They can even kill you sef and nothing will happen.
How did he travel from America to Nigeria with a gun though? That can't be possible. I don't think he brought the gun from America. But I think he may in fact be based in America and just claiming ignorance that he didn't know guns are not allowed in Nigeria. Well, at least, not allowed for the poor man.
I don't like things like this. You guys just endanger people's lives because you want to show off your car's speed? Are you guys just nuts or what? if only this country was a more serious place, jail is the best place to put people like this.
irijuola: My little gist. Before I left Nigeria to Canada, I had been having occasional tooth ache. However, even before the thoughts of travelling came into my head, I had always promised myself that I will do my dental surgery whenever I travel abroad. I reach the 'abroad', settle down small, I kon start my dental journey. So last week I started using my dental insurance. I went for X-ray, general cleaning and scaling. The doctor told me that the reason for my tooth ache is impacted wisdom tooth. Also, the x-ray discovered 3 cavities in my teeth. Another appointment was fixed. This week, on Monday, I went for the appointment and I had my cavities filled and my teeth whitened. lols. Anyways, I was referred to a Consultant regarding my wisdom tooth removal and I was told the consultancy fee will be $165 CAD. Appointment was fixed for today, Friday. Na so I carry myself and my teeth go the dental clinic. I filled some forms and waited for the doctor. The doctor came in, checked my teeth and gave me my bombshell, gbagaun! You'll be removing 4 wisdom tooth! How many tooth go kon remain for my tiny mouth laidis! The doctor didn't spend 10 minutes with me and my $165CAD consultancy fee finished. Just laidat. I for consult google, mtchew . I kon gather liver ask am say when will the removal be done. He said you'll be given the quotation by the nurse/receptionist. Okay o. Tankq. I go see the receptionist and she gave me another bombshell. She printed my quotation and i had to adjust my imaginary glasses when i saw $3800CAD. She said so when do you want me to fix your appointment. I said, padin! . I respected myself and told her to give me the hospital info card, that i'll will call to book appointment whenever i'm ready. Presently, I am soaking my toothes in the blood of Jesus. Wherever you are presently, help a sister. Extend your mouth of prayer to my toothes. . Abi make i cum nigeria kon do am ni . Flight go and come = $2000; Toothes removal = let's say $500CAD. Now, confuse is confusing me.
Any better advise?
I removed 2 wisdom tooth in Nigeria for like 12k or something. Where you think say dentists in Canada dey get money buy mansions? That wisdom tooth removal is like one of the easiest things a dentist can ever do. Na like routine since a loooot of people get that problem. But trust Canada na....
Ikwerreland: I really don't understand this US government.
So because Hushppupi named Abba Kyari as one of the beneficiary of his loot automatically makes him part of the said crime?
Abba Kyari does not have any case with the US government, even if he has to answer any case it should be with the Nigerian government.
That he Abba Kyari benefited from the loot through the bribe he received from Hushppupi does not mean he joined Hushppupi to loot.
Will the US government also order the arrest of all hushpuppi friends he spent the money on, going out for party, gave free money, and companies he made purchases from because they all benefited from the loot like Abba Kyari?
America should better respect themselves.
You don't understand how the justice system works and are demonstrating the naivety characteristic of a Nigerian who excuses inappropriate behaviour simply because "I didn't know!"
Did you read the part where Hushpuppi described "the job" to Abba Kyari? Or the part where Abba held Vincent because he interfered with "the job"? He is just as complicit as Vincent in defrauding the Qatari businessman because he aided Hushpuppi in that endeavour. I honestly pray he's eventually arrested and jailed. He's a criminal who deserves whatever comes to him
BiafranDel: I thought a masters degree is mandatory to be eligible? Does the other certificates get the same points as a masters degree? How do I research about the particular certificate that would fit my profile better. Also, please does the 3 years working experience need to be a professional job that is as well related to one’s undergraduate course of study?
Check out this computer science certificate they call BCS certificate you can get in less than 6 months. Or an online certificate from University of Toronto or Ryerson, etc. They all have certificate courses in their schools of continuing studies. Can be completed in less than a year for some. And no, you can also use 1 years nysc. The job doesn't even have to be related in any sense to your undergraduate degree.
BiafranDel: Please how do you guys manage to have a masters degree plus 3 years working experience all before 30 to be eligible for express entry. Please Is this express entry dream feasible for someone who gets his BSc at 24?? Is that age too late?
Get one of these many certificates to quality for two or more certificates. Or better still go back to school and finish masters by 26/27, then apply. People have done it successfully.
Alchemist01: Are the following allowed when travelling to Canada from Nigeria?
Fried meat Groundnut oil Dried fish
Why are you stopping at Fried meat and Groudnut oil? Why not bring in a live goat? Wouldn't that be just nice! There's no goat in Canada to kill and eat o, so you really should.
Juliusmomoh: You only had sex with her once. And the next she did was telling u that she's pregnant after several weeks... Is anyone thinking what am thing?
No mind am.. The guy get mind Bleep for theologian school.

I'll never stop asking why we have zoos in this world. Zoos are some of the most humilitating places around, comparable in every sense to gulags, dungeons, or any denigrating human invention one can ever imagine. Why would humans consider it desirable to put animals in enclosures and then charge people money to go view them? That's just unfair. The animals are not in their natural environments, and one can't even ask if they are happy or not. Why then would humans continue to keep them in these places locked up? Sadly, only few are asking questions, and as a result this persists. I believe people need to stop going to these places and maybe they'll shut down eventually.
Reserves make more sense. Natural reserves where animals can drift around in an environment more suitable for them, thrive like normal, and are not locked up should be encouraged. This has the advantage of saving their environment, especially when poachers are punished.
Please tell me, why would you prefer to visit a zoo and give power to these criminal enterprises?
don4real18: Some months ago, I was supposed to get married to a lovely lady (Alias-Celia) whom I thought the universe made just for me. I find it unfortunate that this beautiful story was just never meant to be. This write-up is my story. ______________________________________________ Five years ago, while we both stared at the moon sitting in my compound and telling tales of our childhood, I studied her profile. She had a perfect-shaped jaw with rounded edges, full lips, and her ability to smile with so much ease. Her skin glowed against the moonlight, and her aura filled with so much innocence. It was no surprise when I finally popped the question asking her to be my girlfriend.
Four days later, I got a yes as her reply, and it became a beautiful relationship. Our companionship was a show of true love, or so I thought. She taught me to be a better kisser, and I made her be a better lover. We did almost everything together, and when challenges came, we solved them even though she was stubborn; A bit more than me.
Many moons down the line of love and sometimes distrust, she was to relocate to the FCT, the state where her family resides. I knew I was going to miss her, and it wasn't easy letting her go.
We did part ways at the airport, and ever since then, we were always on calls. I did notice later that I did most of the calling, and as time went on as it must, the regular calls became once in a while, and soon, it became longer.
I did play a little with other girls and tried getting into a relationship with others, but it just didn't work out. Perhaps, I wanted the kind of love that they could not give in return. It was no surprise when years later, my calls with Celia became regular and, I didn't mind doing most of the calling.
Soon, I traveled to Abuja, and she didn't seem enthusiastic about seeing me, even though my love clawed at my heart with a renewed burst of energy. This time, I decided that I wouldn't let go. I stayed in FCT for a while, I met her family, and I guess her feelings returned.
I returned to Lagos to continue working, and some months down the line, I was in Abuja again to see the one that I loved. We agreed that she would have to come to Lagos, and some months after I left Abuja, she arrived in the rowdy Lagos.
She met my family, and I popped the question, "will you marry me?" in a romantic atmosphere, and she was so happy that she was going to spend the rest of her life with me.
We made plans until the event of Corona took place, and it greatly affected my business. I became broke, but that didn't stop me from traveling to 3 different states to meet her family members and her pastor in FCT.
We did agree that we were going to have a small wedding, and the day of the introduction came, and I traveled with my family, spent a lot of money on hotel bills, etc. It did go well, and that was when it started.
She reneged on our agreement on the size of the wedding. She told me that she wanted to have her dream wedding although she had no money. I could not bring myself to spend so much on a wedding only to end up eating hand to mouth in my marriage. It became a back and forth argument. Her dad wanted it small, but her siblings wanted it big. My mum did try to advise her, but she felt my mum shouldn't have a say in her wedding being a supposed generation Z.
I did have to look for ways she would be happy without spending too much. Then the counseling issue came, and I was informed to come back to Abuja by her pastor. It was inconvenient, so I told her to recommend virtual counseling because I'm not ready to go and spend a lot staying there. She was mad at my response, saying that it was disrespectful, suggesting such to a supposed man of God, making it disrespectful to God.
I did try to let her know that we could use the money to do something else, but she was adamant. After some time, I did succumb to her demand, but she felt that it should not have led to an argument in the first place and decided to call the wedding off. I tried calming her down and even suggested that we postpone it, but she wouldn't budge with a reason so petty. It hurt at first. It made me lose focus for a while, but I guess I've pretty patched up now hence my decision to share with you all.
God bless us all.
You effectively bored your readers with your "deeds", abi na "dids"?
THis is the perfect scenario for women. THey won't admit it, but I'm sure this is what over 90% of them want. They crave it like bees craving honey. It's like jackpot. There are literally millions of women out there who will never mention to their future partner that they did something like this in their past.
kunbeeee: Hi Guys, I'll be travelling to canada for study next month. Although my school is in Ontario, I plan to stay in winnipeg during the fall session. The fall session is online and I have family to stay with in winnipeg. I'm wondering if I can go straight to winnipeg once I land in Toronto or if this would cause issues for me at Point of entry. Any opinion or advise would be appreciated.
AirBay: So the milk you grew up with is now rat poison Except you were born and bred in Canada sha
Naija ppl forming Canadian accent after 2days in canada
I'm sure there are many things you grew up with in Nigeria that you now find are bad practices in Canada. You'll probably ignore that and continue bringing your milk from Nigeria, anyways. I don't want to engage you in unnecessary arguments, but it baffles me that you do not realize this your dependence on Nigerian milk is simply brain conditioning. Yes, even your brain can make you do bad things without you realizing it. Just sit back for a minute and look from the outside. Tell your brain to readjust itself, and you'll see why you are approaching things wrongly bringing possibly bad milk from Nigeria to Canada. I'm sure you do not realize that things like poor quality feed, lack of adequate regulatory supervision, inadequate diary infrastructure all contribute to the production of low quality milk in a country like Nigeria. But instead, you'll probably go into a fit after reading this my response now, thinking "how dare she tells me this!?"
RELAN2446: Quick one please, can I carry powdered milk with me to canada? What I'd the best way to carry it? Is it advisable to carry it with the can?
What's the point of carrying powdered milk all the way from Nigeria to Canada when in reality the food standards in Nigeria are way poorer than they are in Canada? I'm honestly very curious about why you would do this.
Honestly, if I were hamilton, even I would retweet their monkey pictures. Nothing bad in being a monkey who has won 7 world championships, over 100 poles, 99 race wins, pretty much head and shoulder above every formula one driver in history no one can even compare at this stage. Yes, I'm a monkey. I'll just laugh it off. When people find you are ways better than them, they resort to abusive tactics like this because they think it gets to you. Nonsense!
itwillendinprai: Apt!!! Thank you and God bless you. This is my major challenge as I wasnt prepared for the back to back case studies and assignments after missing several weeks of lecture. The stress is killing, I've been depressed severally but have managed to keep pushing. Thank you again.
I understand your situation very well. But I feel like you are not asking for help, which is probably how you did it in Nigeria where it worked for you. Canada is a different environment, and the study method is completely unique. If school is challenging for you in Canada, ask for help. You will definitely get the help you need. I recommend that you watch this lady's video here who was studying computer engineering in the US. Sadly, if you don't ask for help, nobody will know what is going on and your failure will be put to unseriousness. If you do ask for help, chances are you will get favourable treatment.
itwillendinprai: Please family, I honestly need your clarification on this matter as am on a very tight corner now.
I arrived Canada in May with a student Visa, I paid my first semester fee before coming and recently paid for 2nd Semester fee with the intention that I'll complete my program. However, as a mature student with unique situation and a child here, It's been too much struggle for me and it's already affecting my grades.
Lately, am beginning to consider other easier or better options of getting PR without violating the terms and conditions of my study permit, one of which is the Pilot program for Child Care giver/Personal Support Worker.
1.) Please does a study permit holder qualify for it?
2.) If yes, are there any implication? Like, misrepresentation issue?
3.) Is there any other better option for me as I realized am not ready for studies now considering the stress I went through before coming here to face study stress again.
4.) If it's possible, which province is more favorable as am willing to relocate anywhere to achieve the PR/Citizenship dream?
5.) Is it necessary to withdraw my husband's SOWP application to avoid misrepresentation issue?
6.) I still have plans to go back to school, but that will be after settling down, this time as part-time
Please I'd really appreciate your contribution on this matter so as to make the right decision on time before losing my 2nd Semester fee as there's deadline for withdrawal.
Thank you all in advance.
Many graduates coming from Nigeria usually underestimate the amount of work it takes to do graduate school in developed countries like Canada and the US. Contrary to what most people think, graduate school in these countries is actually very difficult. Usually there is a lot of assignments and homeworks, and this is not something the Nigerian student is used to. Besides, most of the concepts are not discussed at a high-level, but usually a more detailed often difficult low-level filled with maths (for STEM) or lots of readings (for Management). This can be a very big problem for the Nigerian student who isn't used to this method of study. But the good news is that if you do not give up, you will succeed. It may appear difficult, but if you put in the required effort, ask for help from your professors or from fellow students, you will eventually understand. My advice to you is to dig deep within you and find that extra effort to succeed. Don't give up. Having a kid is not an excuse. There have been many people like you who made it eventually through graduate school. You just need to tell yourself that you can do it.
