Big wahala. That room does not meet codes.

Which of those indian rooms in downtown Toronto meet code? I don see person wey divide him living room into two and decided to rent half out as a "room". Isn't that just ridiculous? This is one very sad thing about Toronto and other big cities in Canada. Accommodation is such a big issue and is one of the biggest challenges new immigrants face.

Good news for international students in Canada. More reasons for many to want to come to Canada to study. Last last, a student on scholarship working in Canada while studying will still be making more money than a bank manager in Nigeria cheesy

Foreign Affairs / Re: Biden: Putin Wasn't Joking About The Use Of Tactical Weapons In Ukraine by CountVersailles(f): 11:33am On Oct 07, 2022

Lol.

Let's forget about the nuclear threats for now, the westerners can continuing peeing in their pants for now cheesy . But let focus on this sentence i got from the entire news. It says:

____
'Russian officials speak of the possibility of using tactical nuclear weapons after suffering massive setbacks in the eight-month invasion of Ukraine'
______

The funniest sentence i have seen in decades.
Russia just annexed a whole 4 region off ukraine amounting to like 15% of the entire ukraine region. BUT
Guess what? the hypocritical, delusional western medias who are still living in denial or just outrightly off-reality of happening still thinks the ongoing 'special operation' is suffering massive setback. cheesy grin

Oh you western apologists and chearleaders, Let me educate you on the gains of this four regions annexations:

The Donetsk region was Ukraine’s industrial center, accounting for 20% of the country’s industrial production. It is rich in mineral resources, having the fourth-largest coal field in Europe.

The Luhansk region is an important transport hub and is known for its metallurgy, machinery and agricultural industries. It has metallurgical enterprises, chemical and pharmaceutical plants and several coal mines

The Zaporizhzhia region, meanwhile, is the center of energy supply and produces 25% of Ukraine’s electricity. Three powerful energy producers are located in the southeastern region – the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the largest nuclear facility in Europe, the Dnieper Hydroelectric Station and the Botievo wind farm.
It also has a number of large industrial and mechanical engineering facilities.

The Kherson port region specializes in shipbuilding and is known for its resorts and agriculture. Besides, the entire Azov Sea will also become a part of Russia.

So my people, where is the 'massive setback so far' in this? If it is this same type of setback Nigeria is experiencing right now economically, then we wont still be wallowing in a third-world country tag.

Shalom.

People like you are the scum of the earth, the rape apologists, the justifiers of unjustifiables. Why you do it is what I often ask? To sound intelligent? You sound way stupider. To feel like you belong? Putin doesn't care one bit about you. He doesn't even know you exist. If you think this makes you get any special favours, I'm here thinking just how deluded you are. The world doesn't need any more people like you

Good day Guys.

Please and please I’m trying to decide on which country to apply for student visa. I have gathered a couple of funds and this would be taking my whole fortune. I’m looking for the right country to travel to where I can study and easily get jobs to pay the rest of my tuition, pay bills and still support my parents at home.

Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
Are you even in your right mind? How will you take your whole fortune to go and study in another country? And if you run out of money what will you do? STart scavenging around? Na una dey come back here come dey complain about japa. No plan. Zero thinking. Using your whole fortune to relocate. Hunger that will torture you is still doing press-up.

My friend sold his school with 150 student paying 600k per annum with a gross income of 90m per annum and a net income of 40m . His wife successful convinced him to Japa to the uk with visa .now he can't live to the standard he left in Nigeria and he planning to reverse Japa .don't sell your successful business to Japa to the Uk . millions of uk citizen's are also facing hard time . The school have serious growth potentials ! Developing nation are Haven for smart enterprenures cos under development bring opportunities.
Obviously a made-up story. How much did he sell the school? A school making a gross income of 90m will go for no less than 1bn, if you consider this a house paid over several years. WIth 1bn, he can live happily ever after in any advanced country. So, obviously this is a lie and it's either the school wasn't making a gross income of 90m and you are just lying, or this didn't happen at all.

Your friend clearly doesn't know how records work, regardless of his "good" travel history with loads of stamp. Because they didn't stamp it means they don't have a record of it in their systems? People that can keep record of what weather was on a particular day of the month will not have a record of why they rejected your friend? Continue.

Thank you for your post. I've tried to tell the man, but he won't listen. Nobody has his time to be coming here and giving people breakdown of what they are earning. Most people don't even have the time. I know several people who are doing well, very well. Some are even on nairaland and are reading this thread, but they won't be bothered to reply or provide a breakdown. What exactly is the purpose? For someone like me, the amount of money I've saved in just 4 months, I couldn't have saved back in Nigeria for a year. And that's just savings. And back in Nigeria I was earning a very good 6 figures a month. But who has time to be explaining.

Lool. You're right but that's religion for ya. grin

Normally wouldn't even have any issues with it. What gets me worried is how they make it sound improbable to accomplish just by having regular human perseverance. I know some of them will still come for this post and say "how is it your own problem? What concerns you with another person's way of attributing wins". What concerns me? Because that's the major reason you guys end up putting these pastors (who help you see the visions) on a pedestal, such that they can nearly dictate anything to you and you will do it, including dictating to you which husband to marry or which husband they saw in a vision for you. Then because you have always felt you owed your success to them or to their preaching or to what they tell you, you can't help not following the commands they issue.

Meanwhile, all over the world, there are people perservering in different fields and achieving great things without having to douse it with Jesus's approval or support, much less a pastor's approval.

I can easily imagine OP will go to church and do thanksgiving, effectively crediting their pastor and their church with an achievement that would have been impossible had he himself given up.

I know many of you still won't see the sense in the post sha. But it's okay. You will be fine. The first step is leaving that box they've constructed around you in Nigeria.

Travel / Re: It Is Impossible To Save $30 (₦9,540) Daily In Canada by CountVersailles(f): 5:54pm On Sep 28, 2022
naijaboy99:
Good afternoon folks! The purpose of writing this trend is not to discourage Nigerians from traveling but to reveal some interesting facts that might shock Nigerians in regards to staying back in Nigeria. The Nigerian dream is not dead like most of us would think or argue. Opportunities abound here like in every society. Financial success is what most folks dream of both in Nigeria and western societies.

I am using Canada and America as a case study because that is where most Nigerians love to migrate to. It will surprise most folks reading this trend that 85% of Nigerian immigrants living in those countries are unable to save $30 daily. What is more surprising is that $30 in the US. when converted to the naira is between ₦ 12,900 (official bank rate) or ₦20,850 (Black market rate) then for Canada ₦9,540 (Bank rate) or ₦14,2200 (Black market rate)

I have noticed majority of Nairalanders are either job seekers or those with jobs earning between ₦50,000 to ₦200,000 monthly. To them the amount I quoted is very high and enough reason to Japa (the current trend) but for those who have hand work or into businesses, it will come as a shock to many of them.. A bolt driver, if we have any one here can help us confirm, is capable to making ₦15,000 daily after all expenses when you drive with your own car. Most 10 passenger yellow buses drivers make over ₦20,000 daily. The average daily profit for an average booming business in Nigeria currently is over ₦35,000 daily. Please note the word average. I know we can all agree that people who sell plumbing materials, cement, electrical gadgets, furniture, rods, chemist stores, truck drivers, woods, pipes, flour, bag of rice etc can easily make over ₦20,000 in profit daily.

I will say again that the purpose of this post is not to discourage anyone or look down on people living abroad, but to open our eyes to the fact that Nigeria is not bad as we might think. The problem is that most Nigerians don't believe in this country. No matter how much they make they always feel there is somewhere else better till they get there and find out the real truth.

Nigerians in diaspora can join the conversation and let us know if it is possible to make the amount stated ($30daily). Then Nigerians down here who are engaged in the kind of work I listed can also come and tell us their experience. God bless Nigeria and her citizens!

There is a lot of problems with your points. Before stating them, let me tell you a story.
You see, there was once a boy in Nigeria who loved to program. That’s all he wanted to do. He started doing this a little early and was trying every step of the way to be better. On the other side, he was trying to get admission into university, but couldn’t make the JAMB cut-off for some of his desired institutions. This was turning out to be a problem for him, as his parents continued to pile pressure on the young boy. He kept failing JAMB and was nearly at the point of giving up. Soon, he started tell his parents that he wanted to leave the country to try education options abroad. Since his parents did not have a lot of money, this was turning out nearly impossible. After several trials and basically using a rogue agent that managed to work things out for him using a jumble of documents here and there, he managed to get a visit visa to the US. The boy took off and started hustling in the US. His visa expired, but he continued staying on illegally until someone he managed to regularize his stay after several years. Remember, he still hadn’t gone to school. But fortunately for him, he kept on with his programming efforts and after a while managed to secure his first programming job in the US after several years of working in restaurants. Nobody asked for university qualification from him. He could do the job and so they gave it to him. He started working his heart out, coding everyday and became even better. His programming skills improved a lot because he was working in a fast-paced company. Today, this boy is working with Google and earning a fat cat salary. Please note that this boy still hasn’t gone to school even today.
Why do I know this story? It’s simple. The boy is my brother.
I ask myself everyday if he would have been able to achieve this if he had stayed back in Nigeria. And the answer is a very big NO. First, they would have asked for his education, which he didn’t have. And he was already at a point of complete demoralization in NIgeria from failing JAMB that I don’t think he would have survived one more year.
Why am I telling this story? Because in all this analysis that you put up there, you are removing the critical component of available opportunities. Even if it is possible to make this money you are quoting in Nigeria (which I don’t even think it is, and that’s why I’m not arguing from that perspective), I want you to tell me how many such opportunities truly exist. Or in fact how many people will get those opportunities. You are talking about a country where nobody even gets that dollar at the official rate you have quoted. Somebody who has absolutely nothing is likely to continue to have absolutely nothing. If no one has somebody to buy a car for them to do Uber, where do you thnk they will find the money? They are more likely to go and steal to get the money that they are to go to a bank. Which bank will even give it to them?
If you go to America today and you want to become a truck driver, it is TOTALLY UP TO YOU to do it. The resources will be presented to you and if you don’t do it, it’s your decision. You are hardly hampered by any societal construct that makes it impossible for you. You are literally walk into any bank (if you are legally staying) and get the resources you need to start out. You can take a loan and go to driving school and then figure your life out from there.
I can’t emphasize even more how important this is. Forget all these naira you are quoting. It is meaningless when there is no opportunity. Absolutely meaningless. If you are looking for a reason why many people are corrupt in Nigeria (of which many are), this is your reason. The absolute lack of opportunity. It pushes people into becoming the monsters they have become.
I rest my case here.

Pls ooo my people, I want to ask a question. I was having a discussion with someone who was nominated by a particular province. According to her application, she mentioned a particular city in the province where her sponsor stays.

Now, the bone of contention is that she will not be staying in that city indicated in her application but another, however she will maintain same PNP province.

Is it right?

I told her she MUST stay compulsorily in the city and province indicated in her application but she is saying her sponsor said it is not mandatory she stays in the city, however it is a must she must reside in the nominating province.

How true is this?
She doesn't need to stay in the city. She just needs to be in the province.

Many will resist and may later regret. My aunt who wanted her kids to study in the west tells me how she's regretting because people advised her to give birth to her kids in USA but she refused because she wanted to have her mother/maids with her. They told her to do it for her kids but she refused now she is struggling to pay their fees due to exchange rate issues.

These things happen.
Plain and simple. The reason most times for many of these men who will provide excuses from today till kingdom's come is the fear of failure. Many of them think themselves brave or courageous, but deep down they are sissies who are scared of failing (or even studying at all) for IELTS. They don't want to be embarassed in front of their wives. Some are even worse in that they forsee their wives getting a high IELTS score and they fear they will test way below their wives. And are therefore scared of the consequences this will bring. Or disrespect. So they drag their feet regarding writing. Or they don't even want to write at all and tell their wives to do everything that they will accompany jeje. Weak hearted men who can't rally their family to achieve an objective. They feel so comfortable in that 6-figure job they have managed to get and do not want to aspire for more because they know they can't measure up to what is in demand in the global world. I have no respect for such men.

the volume of your posts here is mind-boggling, yet i'm the one loitering. Once again, slow your role! Your positions and assumptions are wayyyy off. I have already stated my ONLY reason for considering travelling earlier. Conquering the world and having that mindset is what I'm preaching and living, but that isn't what the wave of Nigerians are doing. They want to just get to the white man's land. Which is why many won't even mind doing jobs they wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole at home. And end up with humble, uninspiring lives. This is what most settle for and are ok with (you said so yourself), as long as it is in the white man's land. I never can quite understand that. Ciao!
And what if people want to live humble, uninspiring lives? We know una type. Life doesn't start for people like you until you start driving range rover and oppressing your fellow countrymen. That's what gives you an idea of being 'rich'. To see others staying poor.

Those are the kind of people who go abroad and are continually held back by their primitive success back in Nigeria. They can't compete on the world stage and they are satisfied with the mediocrity they are champions at back in Nigeria. We see them here all the time. Always complaining about how they were earning big back in Nigeria and can never get over that while they suffer in their survival jobs in downtown Toronto.

You must really be living in la-la land thinking that everyone was "struggling" in Nigeria before they left for Canada. So, apparently, it looks like you had a relatively comfortable life in Nigeria, but decided to emigrate nonetheless. In fact, una try. I wish you goodluck, because people like you na nostalgia no go make you think of how to better your life in a new country. You better dump that nostalgia and move on to actually differentiate yourself in a new society that doesn't care if you were earning big back in your home country.

let me add just for the sake of clarity that I wasn't "struggling" one bit in Nigeria before I moved. I was earning a very comfortable six-figure per month. Not per year, aunty. Per month. And thankfully, I'm also not "struggling" now. Still managing to save way more than I was earning per month back in Nigeria. But nostalgia didn't get me there. Neither did continual labouring over the thought that I was "enjoying" back in Nigeria.
