Well, science fails and no scientist pretends about it. Scientists don’t claim raising people from the dead or growing limbs as many religious nut heads do in Nigeria. Point is science fails sometimes, many times even but these are what they learn from to come up with solutions you guys always seem to give your genies and pastors all the credit for, even though religion has failed throughout history in times like these. The Pandemic is as a result of negligence and failure to prioritize research into viruses as Bill Gates explained in his TED talk but nonetheless, people are working hard at it but it isn’t the religious people Nigerians give all their money to. Something so obvious and a nation is too spellbound to see. The best you, or anyone could do is to listen to the real heroes, the virologists, epidemiologists, and doctors and nurses in the field putting their lives on the line, so as to try as best to mitigate this disaster, given the constraints Nigeria faces. Stay at home! and try to convince those around of the pending disaster to take precaution. femi4: |

The only hope at this point is that it doesn’t kill the majority of people, that’s if it doesn’t mutate into a more virulent form or re-infection turns out worse, because we would’ve been looking at humans greatest threat to survival, which in some ways this still is. Can’t stand those conspiracy theorists, it’s just stupidity on steroids. ornicus: |

Some do and others don’t but what has that got to do with these professions? I don’t but at least I’m not deluded into thinking my chances are greater than somebody else because of some genie in the sky I fantasize about. Haven’t you guys in Nigeria prayed enough? The Vatican is shut, Mecca is shut, doesn’t that spark some tiny nerve in your brain about how useless all these prayers are against real world problems. Spain is country with history deeply rooted in Christianity but guess how many died yesterday, almost 500. You think those guys don’t pray and don’t love God? Italy has the Vatican, the rock on which Peter was laid allegedly, guess how many died ... you think they didn’t pray or love God? Aren’t the Imams, Sheiks and pastors all waiting for scientists for some solution? Why are they not healing people anymore? Or has God stopped collecting tithes? But no, you, in third world country with almost no functioning healthcare system but biggest religious auditoriums, are better off than all those people catching the virus falling sick and needing respirators. If you still don’t get it then you are helpless. This pandemic is exposing all deficiencies in every system including Nigeria. Our glorification of ignorance and stupidity over education and in turn healthcare is slowly becoming Nigeria’s undoing. Look how they celebrate an illiterate and man with apparent signs of dementia as president, the consequences are about hit really hard. Take education seriously and fund schools and universities No! How could you when you still can not see the value, rather pay pastors 10% and keep building mega auditoriums, praying for solutions inside, and funding pilgrimages. Winter has come! and it hurts me as well because we will all feel it this time. Iykenuwa: |

In one of the hot zones in the US and we all know there’s much more to come simply because Trump administration was lax about the situation and the CDC delayed testing and rejected WHO test kits that was in other countries several weeks before. The incubation period is what deceives a lot of people. The people infected by the third case in Nigeria and all those in the plane who most likely refused to self isolate would start falling sick two weeks later. Imagine the ripple effect. Lagos would be a feast for the virus! What every country has realized is that they are already behind and are taking drastic measures to mitigate the spread but let’s talk about economy and imports and bank balance, welcoming those from those countries to come do business. Only fools think countries that are shutting down don’t value economic growth. Smh for some comments here. Nairalandmonika: |

Lockdowns are for containment. I never mentioned lockdowns but from the way the NCDC allegedly misinforms the people, and the government and people like yourself are going about it a lockdown would become inevitable. And at this point if it’s only the economic impact and economics you romanticize about then you must not have heard about Covid19. Please educate yourself. sexylassie2: 1 Like |

I suspect Nigerians would just be heartless. After being in flights with many people and crossing many airports. Man! And I’m sure they’ll be attending parties and gatherings. All the new cases around me have been asymptotic. The data about cases is often two weeks behind the real situation. Well, Nairalandmonika: 1 Like |

The Nigerian thing about being broke and poverty being the worst of the human condition is a really problematic notion. People survived world wars, and various kinds persecution without any conception of financial status. First, people would not all go broke if they changed their lifestyles for 6 weeks to 3 months. People grow food they eat and can eat in Nigeria much more than these countries you seem to think have so much money to afford to shut down their economies. These measures had only become necessary! Every village I have been to including the one I did my NYSC did not seem to have what to eat as a problem, even when they didn’t have money for WAEC fees. Question for you, if Nigeria declares war or was at war against say Cameroon would you advocate leaving borders open for your business and finance rationalizations when the rival armies could invade through the open borders and massacre everybody at one fell swoop? What is more important then... food and safety or bank balance? It is a pandemic and many countries have started implementing war time measures because the projection doesn’t look good at all. Many countries including African countries are learning from the Italy ‘mistake’ and Nigerians seem to be partying ... I sincerely hope I’m overreacting sexylassie2: |

But you people closed the border for months on na or have they been reopened or is it when it is about saving the lives of people you now rationalize about the economy? Didn’t you guys say closed borders promote local production? So why not produce the gloves and sanitizers and gadgets locally? Or weren’t people feeding their families before the Buhari government shut the borders ever since? It is damn glaring from countries that have their healthcare systems currently overwhelmed by CoVid19 that they never took it seriously, like you are doing here until their parents and grandparents started dying and no room for any other operations in hospitals only Coronavirus. If they could do it over, it would be a shutdown early because once it’s in ... There are many rural communities in Nigeria with just nurses if any at all in their clinics. This thing you’re rationalizing away about economy is capable of wiping out villages of aged people if left unchecked. Currently, there are not enough doctors in Nigeria and 9 out of 10 fresh graduates are taking exams to leave the country. You really don’t know what this is, check the numbers in Italy how it has progressed in days and yet to peak in a country with world class healthcare system. They now choose who to treat and who to let die Well, hope you won’t be the person traveling up and down to go see your parents and aged relatives because you are young but ask the Italians, even young people get taken into ICU and need oxygen. sexylassie2: 1 Like |

When it unfolds like a pack of cards, it would be you that’ll beg for restriction then it would be too late. Is it not people that are alive that do business? You wanted a vibrant economy and prosperous country yet elected that illiterate. You think Italy France Spain New York enjoy shutting down their countries, they don’t like investors? Which foreign expatriate would come to Nigeria if people start dying at the rate the Italians are dying? Just be here forming economic expert. Nothing like most important belt anymore in boxing. Wladimir Klitschko wasn’t considered any less of a champion without the WBC, neither is Joshua..besides the WBA is the oldest and an argument could be made. Fury isn’t more recognized as a champion. Where did you get that from? He is recognized as the better heavyweight that is also a champion. Joshua is still the big draw. shadrach77: 3 Likes |

Often times it’s usually a get to know you kind of thing. If you’ve got any research experience, you should be prepared to talk about it. No problem if you don’t, just be prepared to talk about your research interests (you could read a few papers) and how and why you want to do research with them. You don’t have to ask questions about funding, as you’re still being considered for an admission. Asking about how international students are supported is not out of place, besides, ‘supported’ is a more inclusive term that could mean anything including finances. Try to be as relaxed as possible, as it usually English speaking proficiency they look out for especially when the fellowship includes a teaching assistantship. the GRE or TOEFL isn’t as reliable going by their experience as it’s often being hacked in some countries. Search on Google for tips as well. Good luck! omomayelakesi: 1 Like |

dislike sneaky requests. Ask yourself how would what you have written here be of any help to others when they read much later when you’ve got what you’re after. If there’s anything I regret is responding privately to people who couldn’t even out of common courtesy to share their admission and funding decisions and steps they took from then on, they just ghosted...bunch of selfish people steady lurking around to always take take and TAKE Your previous comment asked for PhD schools, now you’re asking people to help you/a guy to make a decision on funded offers. Tell a guy to share which schools are offering what because people who do also know how to keep secrets but you are here because they were foolish enough to put up their embarrassing scores grades and even average school admissions. By the way how is any of this your business sef...Are you his father? Let who has time and data tell you and a guy what to do about top school, average school and stipends. Faloh: 6 Likes |

If you cannot find the responses to the questions you had from what I’ve written, then I’m sorry, I cannot help with your comprehension. What is the arrogance you talk about when you’re the only one asking the same questions different commenters continue to respond to but hey! You know better about boxing and Wilder’s record right? Why haven’t other boxers disputed it? lexy2014: |

Dude stop arguing and making yourself appear foolish. You have a smartphone google journeymen in boxing and how much they get paid Boxing is based on hype (promotion is the professional term) You build a fighter by creating ideal records and resumés and it is what every boxer does. Not necessarily the boxers but what their team does for them so they don’t take fights they feel would hamper their records. Get it? They don’t challenge Wilder’s high KO and win record because it is the sport and he actually fought people (boxers? Yes but not contenders or aspiring contenders) So when people say ‘padded records’ or Wilder fights ‘nobodies’ or ‘tomato cans’ it isn’t literal because they actually fought recognized professional boxers. You only get offended by these terms only when you know little about the sport. Start with the google search Hope you understand why Wilder and his team never thought about fighting any of the Klitschkos even though he was still building records at the time but in contrast AJ took a fight against the former unified champ Wlad in his 19th fight something very unusual in boxing nowadays. Wonder why Fury or Ortiz thanks Wilder? it is for giving them the fight because the sport is usually about avoiding people that could knock you out of the park. So you should know why Wilder never fought Joshua or Parker or any of the guys Joshua was fighting or Fury avoiding the Klitschko rematch or why Pacqiao vs Mayweather lingered on for years... too many lexy2014: |
Sports / Re: Tyson Fury Vs Deontay Wilder 2: Photos As Fury Finishes The Unfinished Business by CptCharlesVane: 10:50pm On Feb 23, 2020 |
I like AJ but AJ doesn’t stand a chance against Fury. Styles make fights so I don’t see AJ touching Fury. Can’t see how. AJ’s got shorter reach and his recent victories were off the jabs against shorter opponents likewise Fury but Fury is a masterful boxer that does everything better, he moves like a middleweight, huge, has an incredibly long reach and great IQ to make adjustments. Fury would dominate AJ way more than he did Wilder, who at least fearsome right hand to keep Fury at some distance. Many people underrate what it took Fury to dominate Wlad away in Germany. Fury capitalized on his reach and size to dominate Wlad like a school boy and because it went the distance people think Wlad never came prepared. Joshua barely got a win against aging Wlad, I would’ve bet on Klitschko winning the rematch but it’s heavyweight boxing you never know the punch that’ll settle it but we can always predict who’ll win on points if it goes the distance. salford1: |

You can easily get a clean record in boxing. For instance, Arsenal unbeaten premier league record is a stellar achievement that isn’t in the same breath when it comes to boxing. There are many mediocre boxers with good records. People forget Wilder’s been fighting in the years of Klitschkos’ dominance but hey! He’s been knocking out everyone he faced right? I’ve read your subsequent comments and realized you don’t really know much about the sport of boxing. Take this as a teaching moment and learn about the sweet science rather than argue. lexy2014: |
