Christianity EtcRe: Is Alcohol Consumption A Sin by CrazyMan(m): 12:25am On Sep 04, 2012
plappville: Alcohol events recorded in the bible resulted to negetive outcome. The bible n no were prohibits drinking neither did it promoted it. The book of Provarb gave some warning though.

Job 1:4-5
4 And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.
Allow me to further prove it with this passage...

 Those who linger over wine,
who go to sample bowls of mixed wine.

31 Do not gaze at wine when it is red,
when it sparkles in the cup,
when it goes down smoothly!

32 In the end it bites like a snake
and poisons like a viper.

33 Your eyes will see strange sights,
and your mind will imagine confusing things.

34 You will be like one sleeping on the high seas,
lying on top of the rigging.

35 "They hit me," you will say, "but I'm not hurt!
They beat me, but I don't feel it!
When will I wake up
so I can find another drink?"

frosbel: I agree.

Timothy took a little wine for a stomach ailment and Paul asked the believers do not drink excess wine but to be filled with the Spirit.

For any Christian who takes wine, if this puts a stumbling block before a weak believer he should avoid it.
True!

FamilyRe: Spirituality In Deciding Your Spouse....is This Applicable To Marriage Decision? by CrazyMan(m): 5:19pm On Sep 03, 2012
By Spititual consultant...there are two kinds of pepole that by this identity. Since I have little knowledge of them you're referring to, I would reply you with both.

If we looking at a herbalist as the spiritual consultant...

I believe we've passed the age where we run to dirty looking old men in bushes for solution to our problems.

You're a grown man...if you feel you love your girl, then propose to her...if your family members frown at your decision as you mentioned, then ask them to present reasonable facts why you shouldn't continue that union.

If they begin to refer to the prophecy or vision seen by an illitrate, poverty stricken, misguided and fraudulent person bearing the name tag spiritualist...then I believe you wouldn't need a prophet to tell you to end such conversation and go on with your choice.

I believe your success lies in your ability to make the right choice and not in a self acclaimed spiritualist vision.

If the spiritual consultant is a pastor...

Then this thread should put you back on track.

This post shows clearly that mods just hit the ban button without proper verification of the crimes being committed by members.

First the guy gets banned for having a sense of humor...he makes a protest and all he can get is I THINK...isn't that ridiculous? I bet that even the mod that banned him doesn't even know his offense.

Secondly the so called Ikenna or whatever couldn't even come in politely and explain to pDudd the reason why he got banned...why must another mods who didn't ban him be the one to state his offence? I percieve rudeness and arrogance of the highest order by Ikenna...

We blame the Nigerian police daily for unjustly arrests whereas we practice worse here on Nairaland.

Seun your mods need proper orientation or they might end up fustratating all your members out of this forum...then I would see who would be left for them to unleash their power on.

Christianity EtcRe: The Greatest Miracle In The Bible! by CrazyMan(m): 10:07am On Sep 03, 2012
The story of shadrach, meshach and Abednego...I feel is the greatest miracle in the bible.

Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual 20 and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace. 21 So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace. 22 The king's command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, 23 and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace.

24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, "Weren't there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?"
They replied, "Certainly, Your Majesty."

25 He said, "Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods."

26 Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, "Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!"
So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, 27 and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.

28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, "Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king's command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. 29 Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way.". cheesy

Delafruita: i have noticed that atheists and agnostics know more about the bible than most christians.
Don't try to wriggle yourself out of this, cos you still haven't answered my question.

Delafruita: go to exodus(i wont give you the chapter and verse).you'd find a verse that reads "and the lord repented of the evil which he was about to do to his people"
I want you to tell me the chapter and verse in the book of Exodus as you claimed above where God perpetuated evil?
Christianity EtcRe: Why Do Christians Ask Silly Questions While Claiming To Be "BELIEVERS"? by CrazyMan(m): 8:38am On Sep 03, 2012
Why do you call them silly questions?

Is it wrong for a christian to request for better explanation on areas of the scriptures he/she doesn't properly understand?

Don't you ask your lectures questions in schoo?

Don't graduates still ask questions about their areas of specialization in for proper understanding, can their quest for knowledge be classified as silly?

Are you not aware that the world itself is a question?

finally what is your definition of a silly question?
Christianity EtcRe: Born Again, What Does It Mean? by CrazyMan(m): 8:24am On Sep 03, 2012
Take your time to read this passage, and I believe it would be much clearer to you.

John 3:1-12 Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him."

3 Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again."

4 "How can someone be born when they are old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother's womb to be born!"

5 Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

9 "How can this be?" Nicodemus asked.

10 "You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "and do you not understand these things? 11 Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. 12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him."

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

Christianity EtcRe: How Many Days Did Christ Stay In The Grave by CrazyMan(m): 11:38am On Sep 02, 2012
Delafruita: jesus was crucified on wednesday.

tuesday was the day of passover i.e. 14th of nisan and that was the day of the feast of passover.he was betrayed and brought before the highpriest during the night.

on wednesday at around 3pm he was crucified.

the next day, thursday was the first day of unleavened bread which is also a sabbath(a high sabbath).you can see reference to that if you check mark 15:42-47 and also read mark 16.

friday, the women bought the spices since the high sabbath was past

saturday was the weekly sabbath and they rested

sunday they visited the tomb and he had risen.so it was 3 full days and 3 full nights just as jonah was in the belly of the fish.

N.B. i would soon start to charge for my services
This is the first time we both agree on something... undecided
