He wiegraf I started this thread as a result of our uncompleted discussion here. https://www.nairaland.com/1034919/things-atheists-really-hate/1#12020565 So allow me answer your questions. Please feel free to address the problem of evil then. Now you must note that evil didn't originate from God...you may ask if God created all things, and confessed with his own mouth that they were all good, then where did evil come from? Could it be that God is evil? Truth is God didn't create evil, therefore God isn't evil - evil started as a result of man's desire to choose sin and selfishness. God gave man a choice, and man took advantage of that choice to go contrary to God's command just to satisfy his own desire...I would liken that to selfishness and disobedience. Therefore, if you throw away all the sin and selfishness in this world, the world would be a better place for you and I. what have atheists done to you?Atheists haven't done anything to me...or are you sensing any form of hate in my replies to you people? You people haven't done wrong to me in anyway so I bear no grudges against you guys...like I said earlier, God gave us a freedom of choice, and its up to you to choose what to believe. And, are you willing to throw away all the contributions the heathen atheists have brought to your life? If yes, I'm assuming you're willing to do that just because they have different beliefs to yours, is that correct? ThanksTrue you guys have brought up theories doubting God's existence. But that isn't enough to prove that God doesn't exist. I choose not to believe atheists when I took a proper look at their lives. Now look at it this way...christianity is a religion, christians love and worship God. Now somebody would take the christian bible, read it from beginning to end and mark out all the passages he feels are controversial to him, spend a reasonable amount of his life researching those passages, and draw a conclusion by telling you this God you guys claim to worship doesn't exist. If indeed he doesn't exist, you wouldn't go through all that stress to prove it to us. Because, there are people in this part of the world that worship stones, idols, snakes, etc. Why don't you atheists go and tell them that its ridiculous to worship all that? Why are you so obsessed with christianity? What is it you guys have seen in christianity that makes you spend all your life researching? Mr Anony, your views are also welcomed in here...thanks. |
wiegraf: Please, feel free to address the problem of evil then. Don't forget you were the one who made the challenge. Also answer the other questions in my earlier post, ie, what have atheists done to you? And, are you willing to throw away all the contributions the heathen atheists have brought to your life? If yes, I'm assuming you're willing to do that just because they have different beliefs to yours, is that correct? ThanksI have a low battery right now...so I might not reply you at the moment. But its a challenge and I've seen your question. I just hope that your colleagues won't come in massive numbers to chase me out again. I would definately reply you when I charge my phone. Thanks. |
wiegraf: You still talk like that crazyman? Despite the fact that you don't have the answers?I had answers but you guys bombarded me with so many questions that I had to run for my dear life...I believe that in a one on one challenge, would fare much better. Cheers ![]() |
Kobojunkie: Abeg go siddon . . like Nollywood stories are in anyway unique . . abeg make me hear word for that one.Stop being paranoid...that I used that statement doesn't actually mean they have to be unique...its just an English term. That statement is a simile...I used it to liken her situation to what we see in nollywood movies. I don't have to begin to explain how house girls get married to princes and all that before you see the how similar they both are Kobojunkie: I have an aunt who happens to be american and has been married over almost 30 years. She too had to leave her family to marry my uncle, and she ain't writing no long stories of it either.Really? Care to give me the gist ![]() |
Is Seun also an atheist ? This is serious Nairaland definately needs a revival? |
Just for clarification, people who engage in such practices aren't christians...they are people whom the present state of the country has dealt with seriously. So having tried all means so succeed and failed woefully, they see the house of God as their ultimate ticket to riches. Therefore I wouldn't call such people christians. |
How hard is it to abandon a toxic family member What is the fact she is white have to do with love Let me get this.....she is white in Nigeria and disowned by her parents means she love her husband Do you know there are many women who are with their husbands fkr a long time disowned by their parents beside her![]() Oh of course you dont....she is special because she is white and stood up to her parents.....what a great fucking accomplishment for the oyinbo community!!! Madness!!
You're getting it all wrong. The reason why cases of Nigerians in similar situations don't get their stories published is because we're already used to hearing their cases, therefore publishing it would make no sense to us including you. But for her...her story is special. Its special because people see it as a rare occurrence. Take a look at Quintuplets...don't people give birth to twins every second? But haven't you noticed the kind of publicity that is made when Quintuplets are born? Now do feel its right to protest the kind of publicity they get? Would you say...after all women give birth to babies everyday so why should they (Quintuplets) be treated specially? Why must a governors wife pay a personal visit to mothers of these babies...is it because they are more in number than the regular ones? Can you honestly make such argument? My dear her case is one in a million...you can even see the evidence glaring in your face. People are already publishing her story on Nairaland, facebook and different blogs...therefore, you would just have to accept that she's indeed special
Coogar and crazyman (if you're not one and the same because your reasoning is similar)
Look at our usernames properly...we're not the same person...coogar and crazyman doesn't sound similar to you, or do they?
Stop embarassing nigeria. The country already has a bad enough reputation as it is.
Funny that you saw that as an insult...if you read what I posted properly, you would notice that I pointed out a fact not an insult. |
Next time, take your time to compose a sermon (you never can tell the soul you would win for christ)...I saw a similar post on te front page...but its good anyway...thanks for your efforts. ![]() |
And emm...no word for Nigerian women in similar situations. |
and any word for nigerians who are also in tough situations due to marriage but decide to endure?
I would start by making reference to similar cases that happened in the past.1. Martin Luther King...he possibly wasn't the first human to start a crusade about injustice, but he was and is still remembered today because he was a black man, and those he fought against were whites. 2. Tiger WoodsIsn't the first human to play the golf sport...but he entered the legend books because he was a black man who kept on defeating whites in one of the sports they invented and probably knew best. 3. Nelson Mandela isn't the first man to fight against a tyrant government...but he's remembered today because the tyrant government which he fought against were white people. Now allow me to say that Crystal Ellis Owonubi isn't the first and wouldn't be the last woman to endure that magnitude of insults, rejection, same etc...but she would be remembered by you and I because she's a white. When a white hen hatches a blue chick, people take pictures and the hen and the chick, and automatically, the hen becomes a celebrity...but does that mean that it is the first hen to hatch an egg, of course not...it simply gained its recognition because people expected it to keep producing white chick or at last a similar colour. Same is the case with the woman in question. So agree with me when I say she deserved some credit and therefore should be celebrated. |
@CrazyMan, if i took over the church, i would simply ask all the miracle and deliverance seekers to go back home and would turn the premisis to an institution of higher learning and all other branches to vocational study centers.
You didn't answer my question. ![]() My question was what doctrine do you feel should be preached and why? |
So does everyone else who have endured many years of hardship while married....her situation isnt as unique as some people want it to be.
True..but at least show some concern, raise and eyebrow...how many whites can actualy endure what she did in the name of love? How many young whites girls can abandon their families for an Africian? Her story is the type you see in nollywood movies...if you ask me, I'd say more of fiction, less reality Thus, I still maintain my stand that she has every right to be celebrated.
She should be happy if she made that choice to be happy. No one can make you happy but yourself that is fact of life.
Alrigh that's a true fact...I agree with you. |
She did go through a lot... But she pointed out one important fact...she's happy. So I guess that settles it. Marriage if you ask me, is about finding a partner you can endure for above 5 years, amidst hardship, hatred, poverty, mistrust, jelousy, anger, peers etc. So, If she endured hers for 12 years, then I feel she deserves some credit. I wish her well. |
Good morning my fellow workers in his vine yard... ![]() Allow me to wish you all a happy new month. And my prayer is that God who brought us into this month of September would see us through. I just felt urge in sharing a word with you all, that's why I opend this thread. Today's topic is Serve With All Your Power. And the bible passage we would be looking at is Genesis 31:1-12. Jacob heard that Laban's sons were saying, "Jacob has taken everything our father owned and has gained all this wealth from what belonged to our father." 2 And Jacob noticed that Laban's attitude toward him was not what it had been. 3 Then the LORD said to Jacob, "Go back to the land of your fathers and to your relatives, and I will be with you." 4 So Jacob sent word to Rachel and Leah to come out to the fields where his flocks were. 5 He said to them, "I see that your father's attitude toward me is not what it was before, but the God of my father has been with me. 6 You know that I've worked for your father with all my strength, 7 yet your father has cheated me by changing my wages ten times. However, God has not allowed him to harm me. 8 If he said, 'The speckled ones will be your wages,' then all the flocks gave birth to speckled young; and if he said, 'The streaked ones will be your wages,' then all the flocks bore streaked young. 9 So God has taken away your father's livestock and has given them to me. 10 "In breeding season I once had a dream in which I looked up and saw that the male goats mating with the flock were streaked, speckled or spotted. 11 The angel of God said to me in the dream, 'Jacob.' I answered, 'Here I am.' 12 And he said, 'Look up and see that all the male goats mating with the flock are streaked, speckled or spotted, for I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you. As we enter this ember month, may it be a time of amazing testimonies for you. This is an amazing testimony we must learn from Jacob. Jacob said, "And you know I have served your father" Verse 6. Mark the word, "And you know". I.e this truth is not hidden that I have served your father with all my might. You must also note that...despite all the unfavorable conditions given to Jacob, he did not compromise his integrity. He still put in his best. I emphasized on this highly priced quality about Jacob, therefore I charge all christians on Nairaland and in the world at large...serve with all your might. Put in your best, irrespective of weather you're appreciated or not. The rule or rather God's rule is to give your best. Why most of our christian brethren fail in their endeavors, is that most of them feel they are not adequately compensated. Most of them or rather majority of they prefer cash and other worldly goodies than rendering good services in the house of God. In our passage today, Jacob proved to his in law and his wives that he had a good moral up bringing...one which lacks in so many Nigerian christians. What makes one a child of God is not the name, but the acts. In our world today, the spirit with which many believers serve their bosses and display at their place of work, is appalling (in the sense that they who are believers still exhibit the fruits of the flesh) as mentioned in Galatians 5:19-22. The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. They forget the fact that after ones family, the next place one must display his christian up-bringing is his office. Paul exhorted the brethren to serve their masters as though they were christ Ephesians 6:7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, The ultimate question here is...can people as well as your conscience vouch that you serve with all your might? If God must rise on your behalf, you must check your attitude here. Laban changed Jacob's wages ten times, yet it didn't change the quality of service Jacob rendered even once. I also want you to note that inasmuch as Jacob was striving hard to win the heart of Laban's daughters, we also as christians must strive hard to ensure that we exhibit that christ like nature so that the world may see christ in us and learn to love him too. Now God saw that Laban was cheating Jacob I mean it was very obvious, so God gave him and idea to apply without supporting stealing or cheating. What happened in that passage was pure wisdom applied by Jacob which of course was given to him by God. So if you ask me, I'd say it wasn't deceit. Verse 12 And he said, 'Look up and see that all the male goats mating with the flock are streaked, speckled or spotted, for I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you. Now (to my fellow christians)what is the testimony of your lifestyle outside the church? Do people see and know you as one that puts in his best in anything you're given to do? Can they vouch for your integrity? Below are prayer points. 1. O lord help me put my best in whatever I do... 2. Father visit me with favour in my work place. 3. Any power set to deny me what is mine, lord give me and idea to apply without stealing like you did to Jacob in Jesus name. God bless you ![]() |
A doubled deck tricycle is a wonderful creativity...but I doubt it would survive Nigeria roads. |
sholay2011: Hello. I am by God's grace a christian. I just read about one Pastor's encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ and the revelation of heaven and hell that was shown to him. After reading, I fell into a deep thought about those things I'm currently doing that were maybe mentioned amongst acts that could get one to hell.Yea true God wishes us to have an expected end...I agree with you here. sholay2011: So, this begets my question of 'does God already know those that would end up in hell, no matter who they are now, maybe pastors, elders, prostitutes or a pope?'I believe that we're all inhabitians of a sinful world...in Romans 5:23 it said for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Now compare this verse to Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Now from the second passage, we're told that the wages of sin is death...and the first passage has clearly told us that we're all sinners. So if we're all sinners, and the wages of sin is death, then I believe its right to say that we're all destined for death and hell, not minding your social status which may include you being a pastor, a pope, an elder, a prostitute...But this can be reversed if we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and saviour. And that was the reason he came to earth. He came to change that destiny. So once you accept him, your destiny of a condemned life is automatically change to a destiny of an everlasting life. John 17:1-3 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. sholay2011: If not, then what should we say about Judas in the bible? If he didn't betray Jesus Christ, would He have been crucified, dying for us? Though, his role was evil in nature but maybe he was fulfilling purpose or something.Judas entire role in christ's ministry on earth, was to fulfill the prophecy of the prophet Jeremiah...therefore every thing he did, had to be done in order that the scriptures might be fulfilled. Matthew 27:7-10 So they decided to use the money to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners. 8 That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day. 9 Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by the people of Israel, 10 and they used them to buy the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me." So the idea of if he didn't betray Jesus should be ruled out, because Jesus himself knew that without a Judas, his mission on earth would be incomplete. sholay2011: Then I remembered God's purpose is always for good and not evil; but if one's destiny is not to fulfill his or her actual purpose?Since you're already a christian, I would recommend the whole book of Romans to you...if I begin to post step by step replies to your questions here, I wouldn't be done by day break. Therefore, since you're not an atheists like some of my brethren here (may God change their hearts), I would suggest that you to take you time to read the whole book (Romans) I believe it would grant you most of the answers you seek. Good luck. |

Burnt officies can be replaced, properities can be re-bought, buildings can be re-built, but lives can never be duplicated. We should be thankful to God that no life was lost |
Its your thread so state your facts and what you feel should be doing that they aren't doing. You can't possibly critize someone when you yourself lacks proper solution to whatever problems you feel they're facing. My question to you... If you are asked to take charge of that particular church, what kind of doctrine would you feel should be preached? And explain why it should be preached? |
invectives: The issue on ground right now is,she is about to deliver and there is no money to register for ante-natal and delivery.as a christian,i want to give her my tithe anonymously,so she can have a safe delivery. If she dies simply because you refused to help her, how would you think christ would feel? You're a christian so I would take my time to explain certain things here. Tithe if you must know isn't meant for the church only, tithe is a form of gratitude you give to God for providing you financial support therefore it certainly isn't restricted to the church only. I know people who pay their tithes to orphanage homes, some use it to sponsor the less privilege with their education, others prefer to give it to their pastors. The point I'm trying to bring out here is that if you have the opportunity to assist someone, do it...christ spent most of his days on earth preaching about charity. So I believe that we christians should also learn to work in his footsteps. |
Matthew 5:43-48 "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. I also agree with Mr Anony here...help her cos Christ told us to show love to people regardless of their faith in him... |
Avicenna: ^you need to tone down the insult. If you want to debate people, certain level of respect has to be established. Please help me tell him... |
The OP: Thoughts, opinions.Thoughts and opinions on what? obowunmi: Whose religion? What religion?I believe the op's question has been answered. If he still needs views, then he should rephrase and be more specific. |
angiemartinez: calvary greetings IJN.First you must not cultivate the habit of using abbreviations to represent christ. Take you time to type out his name...and am sure he would be proud of you ![]() angiemartinez: Why is it that females dont cover their hair to some churches? Pls bible scholars help me with verses where it is mentioned to cover hair to church. Its mentioned in the bible, but if you ask me, I'd say it doesn't really matter. My knowledge of christianity tells me that God is not interested in your outward appearance. What he values most is your heart. So even if you put on a scarf and cover yourself from head to toe...if you don't give him your heart, it still won't make any difference. Also its sad to see that most pastors who should be winning souls for God, are busy playing simon says with their members. Christ's death on the cross was to redeem us so the main goal of every preacher is to ensure that christ's death wasn't in vain and not to constantly give their members all sorts of dress codes... Finally, I would therefore suggest that you spend more time seeking his face and studying his word and forget about all these dos and donts pastors. |
Goshen360: Now you agree that the beginning means when God created heaven (space), earth (matter) and in the beginning means time right?Permit me to share my views... Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. This was the beginning of creation...the bible did not specify or rather differentiate which of the heavens God actually created. But from my own view, I believe that verse is a brief summary of how God created the old world... My fact was justified in verse 2 above says the spirit of God was hovering over the waters. That verse didn't mention any form of heavenly being because none of them existed then. It later told us in verse 26... Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." 27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. The us God was referring to came after Genesis 1:1 which also proves that they (angels) didn't exist as at Genesis 1:1 If you have any contrary opinion, you may share. Thanks. |
typical xtian cowardly answer. We Pagans can give better answers.
And what answer do you want me to give to you? If I type from now till daybreak, would it convert you into christianit? If you choose to believe there is no God, its up to you...I'm a groomed christian therefore I can only debate based on the scriptures. You can't possibly expect me to convince you that God when you made up your mind into believing he doesn't |
truthislight: I dont stand on any other info outside the bible and as such i dont like going beyond what is written. That settles it then ![]() |

Scientifically, it made a little sense...but who is this topic directed at? Is it christians? Is it muslims Is it atheists |
I'm not an atheist, I'm a christian...so as you have your beliefs in atheistism that there is no God and that Christianity is a religious folklore, then there's no need for me trying to convince you. You've choosen a path and i wish you well in the path which you've choosen. |
