mkmyers45: But clearly he was not....he was the only man which was saved in that city no? Abraham was still alive...so was Abraham's father and a host of othersTake your time to read Genesis 13 properly...Abraham and Lot weren't in the the same city. So Lot still remains the only survivour of the fire that ravished sodom and gomorrah. mkmyers45: Care to post it again? Here is it...take you time to read it and you would agree with me. Genesis 5:4 4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters: Although the bible didn't tell us where cain's wife originated from, but its is obvious that he married his sister. Remember that Lot slept with his daughters... Genesis 19:31-36 One day the older daughter said to the younger, "Our father is old, and there is no man around here to give us children—as is the custom all over the earth. 32 Let's get our father to drink wine and then sleep with him and preserve our family line through our father." 33 That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. 34 The next day the older daughter said to the younger, "Last night I slept with my father. Let's get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and sleep with him so we can preserve our family line through our father." 35 So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in and slept with him. Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. 36 So both of Lot's daughters became pregnant by their father. Even though lot was drunk, truth is that he slept with his daughters, and that single act enabled the world regained its population after the fire of sodom and gomorrah. Also in Genesis 29:10-12 When Jacob saw Rachel daughter of his uncle Laban, and Laban's sheep, he went over and rolled the stone away from the mouth of the well and watered his uncle's sheep. 11 Then Jacob kissed Rachel and began to weep aloud. 12 He had told Rachel that he was a relative of her father and a son of Rebekah. So she ran and told her father. We can also see in this passage that Jacob also married his cousin, who also is a blood relation. Now back to the issue of cain...the bible told us in Genesis 5:3-4 When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. 4 After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters Now since the bible didn't actually specify who cain's wife was as I stated earlier, it gave us reasonable facts that she was indeed Adam's daughter. Adam was 130 years old when he gave birth to Seth. And had other daughters...now Adam lived for a total of 930 years before departing this world. Now its very possible that during that space of time...cain possibly took one of his sisters and married her. Why that verse looks confusing is that in verse 16-17 of Genesis 4 So Cain went out from the LORD's presence and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden. 17 Cain made love to his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was then building a city, and he named it after his son Enoch. It told us of how cain got married and but didn't emphasize on the identity of his wife. But its very obvious that he didn't leave God's presence alone...pointing out one possible fact that he took his sister along with him, and ended up marrying her. I posted it before and I'm re-posting it for a second time so please take your time to read it properly this time. |

tope3x: This is a typical IBO man's hand... specifically CHINEDU or EBUKA,or CHUKWUDIThis is the Religion section, not politics section so don't come into here with your tribalistic comments. |
mkmyers45: ROFL....You clearly arent getting my are ya? Where was abraham when all these was happening he was in a city no? was it not mentioned? I talked about egyptians because of your reference that destruction of Sodom reduced the population of the world whereby they were other greater cities at that timeAnd why do you keep mentioning Egypt? Abraham Left Egypt in verse 1 of Genesis 13. And came to the land of canaan. Abraham and Lot parted ways...Lot later moved to the plains of Jordan and Abraham remained in Canaan. Now from my previous posts, I didn't mention Abraham because during the destruction of sodom, apart from Abraham's Intersecessory prayer which he made for them, in Genesis 18: from vers 23, he wasn't mentioned in verse Chapter 19 when sodom was eventually destroyed. So I made my reference about Lot based on Chapter 19 of Genesis which qualified that Lot was indeed the only man in the world. mkmyers45: Sorry, I meant this: Cain was said to have gone to the land of NOD right? Who was with him in that land? Can one man build a city? The bible didn't lay much emphasis on that particular issue. If you take your time to read my previous post...I answered that question from what I felt happened using other passages of the bible as references. |
Having read your write up, I consulted my bible for answers. And guess what...I found just what I was look forbelow is my comment Proverbs 14:7 Stay away from a fool, for you will not find knowledge on their lips. |
Niflheim: @acidiosis,a bishop is simply a man who opens a 'bigshop' and then calls it a church.Products on display may include tapes, cds, bibles(jewish fiction),olive oil and handkechiefs.Sometimes if you anger them you may end up with a slap on your cheek(oyedepo)but on the other hand if they like you too much you may end up with their di.ck in your butt cheeks(bishop eddie long).I wouldn't joke with things I don't understand if were you... |
mkmyers45: MtswwwI used that as a reference to answer the question. And note they were not Egyptians the children born to lot through his daughters became fathers of the nations of Moab and Ammon. Its now clear to me that you people read a line in the scriptures, close your bible and challenge christians for explanation. True sodom and gomorrah was just a city, but during and after its destruction, if you read your bible properly as you should do, you would notice that the bible never mentioned any other city. The bible concentrated on just Lot and his daughters vers 31 of Genesis justifies my statement One day the older daughter said to the younger, "Our father is old, and there is no man around here to give us children—as is the custom all over the earth. Thus I maintain my stand of them populating the world mkmyers45: Who were those in Noah in the land of Nod? Abi only him was building a city?Could you please rephrase this question...didn't quite get you clearly, so I wouldn't make any comment until I understand the angle of your question. |
FMK: guys please i am not stupid but I need someone to give me lightness in that matterFirst, I would like to use the passage Omo Alata quoted to reply you. 4 After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters Now since the bible didn't actually specify who cain's wife was as I stated earlier, it gave us reasonable facts that she was indeed Adam's daughter. wiegraf: No. There's no conclusive evidence for such. Though some people look at reincarnation I believe. Or some sort of dream (like those from the movie 'inception'), among many other options. You atheists on this forum should know that It’s hard to move forward when you don’t know where you’re headed or why. Your answer to my question simply shows that you people (atheist) are even more confused than most christians. If you follow the believe of some people including you like I bolded here some people look at reincarnation I believe. Or some sort of dream (like those from the movie 'inception'), among many other options. Then it shows clearly that you're heading towards nowhere. Allow me to further more stress that God’s plan gives us (his children) the answers to life’s most basic questions like, Where did I come from? What’s my purpose here? And, What happens when I die? Knowing the answers gives us hope and helps us find peace and joy. You should also know that your life didn’t begin at birth and it won’t end at death. Before you came to earth, your spirit lived with your Heavenly Father who created you. You knew Him, and He knew and loved you. It was a happy time during which you were taught God’s plan of happiness and the path to true joy. But just as most of us leave our home and parents when we grow up, God knew you needed to do the same. He knew you couldn’t progress unless you left for a while. So he allowed you to come to earth to experience the joy—as well as pain—of a physical body. One thing that makes this life so hard sometimes is that we’re out of God’s physical presence. Not only that, but we can’t remember our pre-earth life which means we have to operate by faith rather than sight. God didn’t say it would be easy, but He promised His spirit would be there when we needed Him. Even though it feels like it sometimes, we’re not alone in our journey. At least we christians have a strong believe on that matter. You atheists don't. If I sit ten different atheists and ask them this question, I strongly believe that they would give me ten different answers. To be honest, I'd rather believe in the biblical definition than some reincarnation Or some sort of dream like those from the movie. Such believe sounds ridiculous. Thus I come to a final conclusion by saying you guys are all confused...if not, prove me otherwise. |
I just need your candid opinion on that issue |
Sorry for interrupting the debate |
@All the atheist... Do you believe in life after death? If yes, please explain. If no please explain. |
Goshen360: For instance, go through the video on this thread, Here. You will weep for this generation if you have the heart of the Gospel. Some of the the people in that video are "supposedly" called Christians of one church or the other. When I watched that video, I shock my head. You should no that in christianity, not all christians actually know the meaning of christianity. Its so sad to see that most atheists see christianity as a absurd religion because of the attroities associated with christians. I would try to the best of my knowledge to clear the air once and for all, so permit me. From my research, I've discovered that there are three kinds of christians. They include the christians on paper, the religious christians, and the born again christians. Now allow me to explain them to you 1. The Christians on paper: These are the most dangerous kinds of christians. They only display their christian status on forms, during interviews and probably any where its required of them to do so. This specie of christians are people like you and I, they have very little knowledge of the scriptures because they feel the bible and the things of God isn't relevant to them. Most of them go on to becoming pastors no thanks to the high rate of unemployment in the country. Now when a half baked christian, who is possibly. poverty stricken claims to have heard God's calling and starts a congregation...what positive impact can that church bring to the common man out there? How many souls can that church possibly win for God? Remember God said in his word that in John 15:6-7 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. They annoying thing here is that when most of this so christians who end up as ministers, pastors, etc, begin to display the worldly traits in them such as love of money, love of alcohol, women, sex, and other works of the flesh, people atheist to be more specific...tag the whole Christianity as a clownish religion. Sad isn't it 2. The Religious Christians: Majority of Christians fall into this category. They go to church 7 days a week 54 weeks a year. In fact the whole 365 days, they are in the church. Most of them even pay their thite and donate freely to support the work of God. Now the problem with this specie of christians is that most of them live in secrete sins. You hear cases where a committed brother in the usher impregnated a committed sister in the choir. They also drag the name of God down the mud. A few of this specie end up as pastors...some eventually become more serious with God, while some end up in one scandal or the other. 3. The Born Again Christians: These are the true christians. The ones christ was speaking about in Matthew 13:23 But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown." They are the ones that know what the christian race is all about. They are the ones that know is christianity is mainly about sacrifice. They are the ones that are willing to die for their faith. Thet are the ones that are ready to empty their accounts just to ensure that the gospel is preached. They are the true Christians. So when next you see an atrocity committed by a supposedly child of God, you must no that such a person falls in either the first or the second group of christianity I mentioned above. A true child of God would never use his father's house as an avenue for money making. |
Please help me tell them |

plaetton: Did I hear "religious folklore?"Religious folklore from my definition, consists of the “sayings” that sound like they come right from God’s Word but actually come from man. They sound great, but when you try to live by them you get into trouble. Here are some of the most common examples of “financial” religious folklore. 1. “God helps those who help themselves.” Have you heard this one? Is this what God says? No! God says, “I delight in helping those who can never help themselves” Ecclesiastes 9:10). 2. “Money is the root of all evil.” Is this what the Word says? No again. This has to be the most misquoted verse about money in the Bible; probably found in man’s book of “First Opinions.” Remember, Paul didn’t say money was the root of all evil, he said, the love of it was what caused all the problems. It’s not the money you have to worry about; it’s your attitude about money that gets you into trouble (see 1 Tim 6:10). 3.“Poverty is spiritual.” Is this what the Word says? 4. “Riches are the evidence of God’s blessing.” Riches are not the evidence of God’s blessing. They may be one evidence, but they are not the evidence. Here’s the fallacy of this example of religious folklore: If you try to apply this criteria to Jesus Christ, He simply does not measure up. Jesus was not “rich” in that he never accumulated material wealth. In fact, the scripture says other men and women helped supply His way. However, don’t ever think that money wasn’t important to Jesus. Think about it. Jesus and His disciples had to have money to buy the essentials of life and to give to the poor as they traveled around the countryside. Money was important enough that Jesus had a treasurer...remember Judas (Ecclesiastes 5:10)? You must note that I used that term because most people didn't believe in the The Apocryphal, Or Deuterocanonical Books. They see it as a relegious folklore wiegraf: No crazyman, you did not reply my second post, which was related to the first. If you weren't going to you should not have asked.I'm sorry, the questions are just too much...I would take some time to reply you...don't be offended. |
mkmyers45: Even humans need servicing and all.....infact they need it more than machines so? My system was once on for months...a human cannot do that can he?Funny how ignorant you sound...so because your system was on for months, that makes it superior to humans. If I may ask you...how long have you stayed on this earth? Can you compare your the lenght of your stay on this planet to that of your computer system. Stop falling my hand biko. mkmyers45: where is in the bible was this recorded?I John 21:25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written. Also, The fifteen Apocryphal books which the Roman Catholics have included in their Bibles, come from a collection of about eighteen or more books written during the Inter-testamental Period. This period of four hundred years began with God giving the last book of the Old Testament which was Malachi. The Inter-testamental period ended with the coming of Christ and the writing of the New Testament. During this four hundred years God sent no prophets to Israel and was silent giving no written revelation. The word "apocrypha" means "of questionable authenticity." These are called non canonical books because when the canon of Scriptures (the sixty six books of the Old and New Testaments) was accepted by the early Christians they recognized that these books contained spurious material and therefore were not inspired of God. Other names for these books are "hidden" or "deuterocanonical" books. These books are also called "pseudepigraphal", meaning "false writings" to designate them as spurious and unauthentic books of the late centuries B. C. and early centuries A. D. These books contain religious folklore and have never been considered inspired of God by biblical Christians from the earliest times of churches. Some have referred to these books as the missing books of the Bible and conclude they are new discovers which are part of God's revelation. Nothing could be further from the truth. The sixty six books that comprise the Old and Testament are God's revelation to man and when John completed the Book of Revelation, God's word to man was complete. God has not added to His revelation since. The content of these spurious books shows them to be inspired of man...not God. It is also noteworthy that the Roman Catholic church which is a false church with false doctrines and pagan teachings accepts these books as scripture. Further, some of the cults including the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Mormons, also accept them as scripture. No biblical Christians or churches have ever accept them as such. The fact is there are no lost books of the Bible. These books or writings from the Apocrypha that the Roman Catholic Church claims are inspired are Tobit, Judith, Wisdom of Solomon, Ecclesiasticus, Baruch, 1 & 2 Maccabees, Letter of Jeremiah, additions to Esther, Prayer of Azariah, Susanna (Daniel 13), and Bel and the Dragon (Daniel 14). Three other Apocryphal books in the Septuagint, the Prayer of Manasseh, and 1 & 2 Esdras, are not considered to be inspired or canonical by the Roman Catholic Church. These books were not accepted by the Roman Catholic church until 1546 in the Council of Trent. Therefore for over 1300 years, since the inception of the Roman Church in the fourth Century, even they did not considered them inspired. If you ask me, I accept that those books exists, therefore proves that some years are actually missing in the bible. mkmyers45: Provide the scripture here....we are discussing and i requested itAccording to the Bible evil became a reality in the very beginning with the first couple (Adam and Eve as you and I know). Sin produces evil. Gen 2:9 The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God instructed Adam to eat of the tree of life and nearby it was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that he was to avoid eating from or would receive death. Gen 3:5”For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” We find when Eve and Adam ate from the tree and God said they had become as one of us – “knowing good and evil. God would have eventually instructed them on evil but now they learned of it by experience, something God did not intend. Later we see God comment on the spread of sin which resulted in wickedness in action and evil in thought. Gen 6:5 “Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” God had to judge the earth because of this pandemic of evil from sin. After the flood immediately offers up a sacrifice which is pleasing to the Lord “And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done” (Gen. 8:21) I've posted it before, and I would post it gain. mkmyers45: im waiting tooI went to refresh myself. Sorry for keeping you waiting. |
mkmyers45: You are failing my hand...Supercomputers at NASA have been up and running for years without ANY human control...Is there someone in an ATM controlling it?You're also falling my hand...because even the so called super computers, and the ATM was actually installed by a human...its being maintained by humans. If they are as super as you claim, they whey do they still require humans to ensure that they work effectively. mkmyers45: You are falling my hand again.....The bible clearly shows the earth to be 6,000 years habaYou're also falling my hand again. If you take your time to open your bible, you would notice that it admitted that there were actually some lost years which were not recorded. The bible didn't follow the earth year by year, it only concentrated on important areas. That's why I gave my up quest on seacrhing for the earth actual age. mkmyers45: I have to laugh at this post seriously.... Gen 1:1-4 God worked and created things for two days in darkness before creating the sun par he created light(which you can't tell me where it came from)....so what darkness was god wandering on? This story is very wrong on various counts....Absence of cold is what? Heat and cold are all subject to temperature and me and you know that temperature is always present so you can't say whether heat or cold exist because they are all expression subject to explaining temperature conditions...That's my scientific explanation...I decided to avoid using quotes because most people had already began to frown. So if you need a biblical explanation on who created evil, then start another thread and I would be honored to use my bible to give you desired answers. mkmyers45: So i ask again and please answer in one word who created evil? From scientific explanation, evil simply means the absence of Good. |
Delafruita: ".a question about santa shouldnt be too difficult to answer unless you have no sensible responseFine I have no sensible response about santa. I didn't study his origin so it would be foolish if I decide to explain his origin. I would end up embarrassing myself. So bear with me on the santa issue. |
MacDaddy01: This Crazyman has become a confused man.Its obvious that you're the one in confusion here. You said God sent Jesus to kill himself. I out up that passage there to prove to you that Jesus mission on earth wasn't to kill himself but to save the world. So I guess that you're the one in confusion here not me. plaetton: @crazyman:God repented that's why he gave us his son Jesus as our direct passage to him. In John 14:6-7 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." |
mkmyers45: Computers can think on their own and make decision without external effects...Outpour of emotion dosent mean something is smart instead emotion is a weakness of humans....it makes humans do irrational things...And can you explain to me how they can think and make decisions on their own without a human being present to control it. For the fact that a human is present and controlling it to think and act shows that the human brain is much smarter than it. Its a simple fact...I need not elaborate on this issue any further. mkmyers45: You seemed to avoid my question on the age of the earth hmmmWell like I said earlier, I cannot give you a specific age of the earth. The bible its self didn't give a specific age of the earth. It (the bible) told us that many years were lost and those lost years were not recorded in the bible. So I gave up my quest of finding the earth actual age and concentrated more on my salvation. Therefore I would suggest that you do the same. mkmyers45: Q3. Who created evil?Let me share a little story with you. A university professor challenged his students with this question. “Did God create everything that exists?” A student bravely replied, “Yes, he did!” “God created everything?” The professor asked. “Yes sir”, the student replied. The professor answered, “If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and according to the principal that our works define who we are, then God is evil”. The student became quiet before such an answer. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth. Another student raised his hand and said, “Can I ask you a question professor?” “Of course”, replied the professor. The student stood up and asked, “Professor, does cold exist?” “What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?” The students snickered at the young man’s question. The young man replied, “In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-4600 F) is the total absence of heat; all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat. “The student continued, “Professor, does darkness exist?” The professor responded, “Of course it does.” The student replied, “Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact we can use Newton’s prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wave lengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn’t this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present.” Finally the young man asked the professor, “Sir, does evil exist?” Now uncertain, the professor responded, “Of course as I have already said. We see it every day. It is in the daily example of man’s inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.” To this the student replied, “Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not like faith, or love that exist just as does light and heat. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God’s love present in his heart. It’s like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light.” So I guess I've answered your question. wiegraf: Me too! Me too! Answer mine ogaBut I thought I was through with you. ![]() |
MacDaddy01: Yaweh sent Jesus to kill himself.Mind you, God didn't send Jesus to kill himself. Its obvious that you're not properly grounded in the scriptures. In John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Here its very clear that God sent Jesus to die for the world including sinners like you. He obviously didn't ask him to kill himself. So when next you read the bible, pray to God for proper understanding. |
mkmyers45: Are you insinuating intelligent design? Do you know that a super-computer is smarter and faster than human brains? was it designed by a supernatural beingBut that same super computer which you claim is smarter and faster than the human brain was created by a human. And mind you, it does not have feelings, does not have emotions, cannot think, cannot cry, and cannot exhibit half of the qualities of the human brain. So can you now possibly tell me that it is smarter than the human brain...? mkmyers45: Many people argue over the existence of santa; even gifts are dropped on trees every year to prove him but does that make him real?My thread was started on the existence of God and not santa. So I don't really have to answer that question. Thanks. |
plaetton: Have you been reading your bible? Ever heard of Moses,Joshua, Judah, David,Elisha, Elijah, etc.?That was in the old testament before christ came and abolished the law of moses. Can you show me any passage in the new testament where God asked someone to kill. |
wiegraf: He also created Satan, why? Was that really necessary?Satan like I explained earlier is a being that God uses to test the loyalty of his people. If you take your time to read my previous posts, you would notice that I've answered your remaining questions. |
wiegraf: Basically, if you claim god is benevolent, kind, omnipotent, and also all knowing, then why is there evil/suffering in this world. Omnipotent means he could have built one without thousands of kids dying tonight from hunger. Even if you invoke free will, omnipotent would mean he could give us free will and still give us nice things, like children who don't starve to death, or prevent genocide.Actually I didn't quite get your question that's why I answered it with biblical quotes. Now I think I quite get you. People suffer as. Result of disobedience just like I stated earlier. I know that most people find it very difficult to believe that God who said he loves his creations can actually allow them fight and kill each other without him doing anything. You must note that the earth is dominated mainly by the forces of darkness...evil dwells on the earth and you and I are fully aware of that. Now to you question. Its not God's wish that his children should suffer. People suffer as a result of the path they choose. In as much as there still some iota of good in this world, people prefer the dark side. Take Nigeria for example, we are one of the most religious countries in the world, but ironically, we are country with one of the highest crime rate. God like I stated earlier created man to obey him. He kept us here on earth with satan to test our loyalty towards him. He knew there is evil that's why he kept us here. And he has given us the necessary weapons we need to overcome evil. Its now left for you to either succeed or to fail. |
