Itsekiri are part of the greater Oduduwa family- Ooni Ooni rallies support for itsekiri in choosing new Olu of Warri. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has called on the Oodua descendants all over the world to be in solidarity with the Itsekiri people in the choice of the new Olu of Warri. The Ooni made the call in a statement by Mr Moses Olafare, the Director of Media & Public Affairs, in his palace on Sunday, in Ile-Ife. Oba Ogunwusi urged the Yoruba nation to support their “own Itsekiri people” , who were in the process of choosing new traditional ruler, Olu of Warri. The Royal Father called on the Oodua people worldwide to find the lowest common factor that existed in their shared history, fear and aspirations. The Ooni also noted that the unity of Yoruba people will further strengthen peace and understanding in Nigeria. The traditional ruler called on Yoruba people across the country to pray and work together for its peace and harmony. According to Ooni, the royalty in the House of Oduduwa is watching events in Itsekiri land and will appreciate if the people can continue to honour and respect the bound of oneness and common with the Yoruba people. “The Itsekiri are part of the greater Oduduwa family. We cherish this great history. We shall do everything to defend and uphold it. “Irrespective of which state you find yourself either Akoko, Itsekiri in Delta, Okun, Oworro in Kogi, we are all children of Oduduwa bound by common ancestry. “We wish them peace and harmony in their search for prosperity in their ancestral land. “The Ooni is particularly keen to see the sustainability of the blood-bound relationship between the Itsekiri and the Yoruba, a relationship that had been tested and trusted over history. Generations of Yoruba and Itsekiri have the responsibility to uphold this important history,” he said. Oba Ogunwusi also wished itsekiri people well in their General Assembly event, coming up on Monday, April 5. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that the Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, joined his ancestors on December 2020. The Ooni also urged Christians to use the Easter celebration to seek love and affection as demonstrated by Jesus Christ, who sacrificed his life to save many souls. https://m.guardian.ng/news/ooni-rallies-support-for-itsekiri-in-choosing-new-olu-of-warri/ |
The embattled chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Danladi Umar, has claimed that contrary to the content of a circulated video, he was a victim of an assault by people who chanted “secessionist and sectional slogans.” PREMIUM TIMES reported how Mr Umar was caught on video assaulting a security guard at the popular Banex Plaza in Abuja. The security guard, Clement Sargwak, later told PREMIUM TIMES that Mr Umar assaulted him because he told the public official that he parked wrongly and would need to remove his vehicle from where he parked. Mr Umar, however, told PRNigeria that the video in circulation did not reveal the true situation of what happened. He did not deny asking the CCT spokesperson to issue a statement blaming the mob attack on him on ‘Biafran boys,’ a statement condemned by many Nigerians for targeting a particular ethnic group. In his interview with PRNigeria, Mr Umar appeared to double down on his claim. “Therefore, when I was accosted by the Plaza guard in a very rude manner on arriving there, I had maintained my accustomed decorum before I was drawn into an unnecessary altercation and subsequently assaulted, with this degenerating into an attack and injury by a mob that was chanting secessionist and sectional slogans,” he said. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/453177-assault-embattled-cct-chairman-speaks-claims-assaulters-chanted-secessionist-and-sectional-slogans.html?fbclid=IwAR1uBAj91jpsfKmhwOY6Lyf-ejrcgVagHExX0P2m1YpKzJOmJGw4pjP_lik Lalasticlala |
The truth is that 90% of Nigerian politicians don’t believe in God because if they do, they won’t put us in this mess. They go to churches and mosques to get votes easily because Nigerians are very sentimental with religion. ~ Chinua Achebe

The Association of Ebonyi State Indigenes in the Diaspora (AESID) has blamed the discovery of oil and mineral deposits for the recent killings in Effium, Ohaukwu Council of the Ebonyi State. In the same vein, Ebonyi indigenes in Lagos, under the aegis of Development Association of Ebonyi State (DAES), condemned the spate of interstate boundary disputes and communal conflicts affecting some communities and towns in the state, saying these have become issues of great concern to every well- meaning and right-thinking indigene at home and in the Diaspora, as hundreds of innocent people have been killed or maimed, with properties worth billions of naira wantonly destroyed in the myriad of gory conflicts. AESID President, Ambassador Paschal Oluchukwu, alleged that the situation was further worsened by the attempt by the state government, in partnership with a billionaire investor from Anambra State determined to mine the mineral deposits, in breach of laid down rules and regulations. The association maintained that it was not opposed to investors mining the mineral deposits, so long as it meets the requirements of the law, just as it asked the state government to clear the air on the need to assure the people of Effium on their safety. AESID, in a statement, noted: “Recall that we had always raised the alarm and condemned the ongoing carnage in Effium, which first started on January 22, this year. So far, uncountable number of souls, particularly of Ezza descent, have been lost to the violent attacks, which we have also consistently blamed on the state government, led by Governor David Nweze Umahi, for his inability to show leadership and live up to his constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property of citizens, as canvassed in the Nigerian constitution. “However, we have now unravelled the actual reason the state government is grandstanding, rather than bringing the sponsors of the killings to book. It has come to the notice of AESID that the discovery of some mineral deposits, such as lead, tin, zinc and some deposits of crude oil, is the main reason the Korri natives, sponsored and believably backed, are hell-bent on wiping out the rest of other dwellers in Effium and the Ezzas, who have the highest population from the area.” It continued: “AESID is miffed by the insidiously desperate attempts to favour one side against the other and perpetrate heinous violent crimes against those it feels could be an obstacle or opposition to its planned forceful and secret mining activities in Effium. This is insane and downrightly condemnable and we so do. “The said billionaire businessman, whose firm is said to be interested in the mining operations, should know better how the law provides for corporate institutions interested in tapping mineral resources in a land or community should best approach it to avoid clandestine moves that could endanger lives and property, as is currently the case in Effium. “We, therefore, insist that Umahi must act by ordering the arrest and prosecution of the a local government chairman and indeed others allegedly mentioned in this crime. “The attempts to clampdown, arrest and detain some Ezza stakeholders for voicing out their outrage over these dastardly attacks, including the detention of a member, representing Ezza South Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Chris Usulor, by the DSS is highly condemned by this body.” The statement described the declaration of Oluchukwu as a wanted person in the state as a joke.In a communiqué signed by the President, Felix Amah Nnachi; Emmanuel Chukwu; Ernest Ukpai; Mrs. Ngozi Egbo; Onyebuchi Kingsley Aleke; Emmanuel Akam; Nwuguru Simeon and Martins Eze at the end of a general meeting in Lagos, DAES asked the Federal Government and Umahi to collaborate with relevant authorities, especially the National Boundary Commission (NBC) to manage the conflicts, while continuing in the search for permanent solutions to the unending boundary dispute between Ebonyi and neighbouring Benue and Cross River states. DAES noted that the two conflicts have rendered Ebonyi citizens vulnerable, leaving them backward, devastated and hapless. While commending Umahi for his people-oriented leadership programmes, massive infrastructural developments in the state, commitment to the peace and overall development and political will to get things right, the group solicited for more proactive measures from the government in arresting or preventing further conflicts in other communities still entangled in similar experience. https://m.guardian.ng/news/ebonyi-indigenes-blame-oil-discovery-for-effium-killings-umahi-for-inaction/ |
THE apex Igbo Socio-Cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has decried the killing of scores of Igbo in Ebonyi State by herdsmen, warning that the ethnic nationality would not tolerate unjust killing of her people. The Professor George Obiozor-led Ohanaeze described the killings as “senseless and gruesome,” and added that the reaction of the Igbo youths “is a natural reflex.” In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Chief Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, said it owes it a duty to condemn violence any where in Nigeria; but warns that “the Igbo cannot fold their arms while being massacred. The Igbo love for peace is not in doubt but will not allow persons or groups to take undue advantage of the Igbo discipline, fortitude, hospitality and decent civilization.” He continued: “I still urge the Igbo youths to beat a retreat. The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo World-Wide, Ambassador Prof. George Obiozor is most disturbed about all these and has assured that the siege scenario in Igbo land cannot continue.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/04/ebonyi-massacre-igbo-wont-fold-their-arms-and-allow-themselves-be-killed-ohanaeze/?fbclid=IwAR0EJHCn_FMTnEXoQ4ym8ua1lpooKS-6ly9K_lMX2NaUtJgQfSO-7P6wghA |

Nigerian big boy sentenced to 34yrs in prison for defrauding US senior citizens, school, Charity of N2.6bn A Nigerian national living in Plano was sentenced to 34 years in federal prison for a fraud scheme that victimized multiple senior citizens, as well as the Community Independent School District and a charity that helps families of the terminally ill. According to information from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 30-year-old Babatope Aderinoye, was convicted in October of 2020, on charges of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, wire fraud and money laundering, as well as aggravated identity theft and mail fraud. Aderinoye committed the crimes by obtaining fake passports using other people’s identities. He then used those passports to set up fake businesses and bank accounts. Investigators connected him to at least 13 different aliases, 12 fake businesses and 40 fraudulent bank accounts. They believe there could be more. He and his co-conspirators used various e-mail compromise scams and telephone compromise scams to defraud the victims. They would pose as someone familiar and encourage their victims to wire funds to fraudulent bank accounts. Once the money arrived in Aderinoye’s fraudulent accounts, he would withdraw the funds and transfer them to a bank account he had set up in Nigeria. According to Fox4 News, between June 2018 and September 2019, Aderinoye stole more than $6.7 million from his victims, included a man who lost his entire retirement savings, Community ISD in southeastern Collin County and the non-profit organization Project 4031. "The types of fraud committed by Mr. Aderinoye and his co-conspirators not only have lasting ramifications for the affected victims but also threaten the integrity of our country’s financial systems," said Acting U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei. However, The FBI is reportedly still working on the case to identify potential victims and Aderinoye’s co-conspirators. In addition to his prison sentence, Aderinoye was ordered to pay nearly $2 million in restitution.

Beggars in Ibadan protest low patronage About 250 Beggars at Ibadan took to the street today, Thursday to protest low patronage by members of the public following a recent rumour that some rich men usually ‘buy’ money from them for ritual purposes. According to the spokesperson for the beggars, Imam Abubakar Abdullahi, Serikin Hausawa of Hausawa Community, Oja’ba, Ibadan, the rumour has created deep hatred for his people. Abdullahi said: “The reports that some wealthy people are buying money from beggars, including the physically-challenged people, for money rituals is not true. “As a result of the claim that some ritualists do buy money from these beggars, there has been public resentment against these innocent people. “What we know is that traders, hawkers and commercial drivers do come to these beggars who are mainly blind and lame people, to change money (get smaller denominations). We need to clear our names so that people will not be punishing us for offences we don’t know anything about.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/04/beggars-protest-low-patronage-in-oyo/ |

This is coming after photos of the DMW Records boss kissing his newly found love, Mya Yafai, leaked online. A recent post by Kemi Olunloyo alleged that Davido has been handed back the bride price he paid on his fiancee, which automatically makes his son, Ifeanyi Jr, the last born of Chioma‘s family according to the Igbo tradition of a child born out of wedlock. “Chioma’s bride price has been refunded. Joy as megaship refloated, Suez Canal traffic resumes The MV Ever Given was refloated and the Suez Canal reopened on Monday, sparking relief almost a week after the huge container ship got stuck during a sandstorm and blocked a major artery for global trade Admiral Osama Rabie, head of the Suez Canal Authority, has announced the resumption of shipping traffic in the Suez Canal,” the SCA said in a statement. Television footage showed tugboat crews sounding their foghorns in celebration after the Ever Given, a cargo megaship the length of four football fields, was dislodged from the banks of the Suez. The breakthrough followed what appeared to be a setback and came moments after the ship had temporarily settled back into the diagonal position it had been stuck in after running aground last Tuesday. Maritime data company Lloyd’s List said the blockage had held up an estimated $9.6 billion worth of cargo each day between Asia and Europe. By the end of the drama, the tailback of ships had reaching 425 at the two ends of the canal, in the Mediterranean and Red Sea. Tug boat flotilla The Japanese-owned ship had been partially dislodged early Monday, triggering immediate praise from Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. “Today, Egyptians have been successful in putting to an end the crisis of the stranded ship in the Suez Canal, despite the enormous complexity surrounding the process,” Sisi said. Egypt was estimated to have lost some $12-14 million in revenue from the canal for each day it was closed, according to the canal authority. After the 200,000-tonne ship was refloated, it was expected to take around three and a half days to clear the traffic jam of ships, Rabie said, praising rescue efforts. Salvage crews have been working around the clock. They had focussed on efforts to remove sand around the ship, with 27,000 cubic metres (over 950,000 cubic feet) cleared at a depth of 18 metres (59 feet), SCA spokesman George Safwat said Sunday Knock-on effects The crisis has forced companies to choose between waiting or rerouting vessels around Africa, which adds a huge fuel bill, 9,000 kilometres (5,500 miles) and over a week of travel to the trip between Asia and Europe. Russia offered assistance Sunday, following other countries including the United States that have made similar offers. In a sign of the knock-on effects from the Suez blockage, authorities in war-wracked Syria said the crisis had hit its fuel imports from Iran and forced it to ration already scarce supplies. Romania’s animal health agency said 11 ships carrying livestock out of the country were also impacted, while the charity Animals International warned of a potential “tragedy” affecting some 130,000 animals Lalasticlala https://m.guardian.ng/news/joy-as-megaship-refloated-suez-canal-traffic-resumes/ |
Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Saturday, denied threatening the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe. Kanu said contrary to rumours, he never insulted the Obi of Onitsha. Following the Onitsha Ado Security outfit formation, Kanu was accused of insulting and threatening the monarch. However, Kanu explained that he only advised the monarch not to allow himself and his newly formed security outfit to be used by Fulani supporter of APC in Abuja to fight the Eastern Security Network, ESN, and IPOB. Kanu made the explanation in a statement signed by the IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful. The statement reads: “The attention of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra IPOB has been drawn to the activities of mischief makers who are twisting the response of our Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to the recent statement made by our revered Obi of Onitsha, HRM Igwe Alfred Achebe concerning the formation of Onitsha Ado Security outfit. “Our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu never threatened Obi Alfred Achebe and his security outfit but only advised the revered monarch not to allow himself and his newly formed security outfit to be used by Fulani supporter of APC in Abuja to fight ESN and IPOB. “IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu never insulted the Obi of Onitsha as being mischievously misconstrued by these dubious characters and traitors in our land. They only want to twist facts for a piece of bread and crumbs from the caliphate. The fact remains that our Leader, Kanu has enormous respect for the Obi of Onitsha and holds him in high esteem. “Our Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu supports every genuine security outfit set up to protect our land and forest and secure our mothers, wives and sisters from the incessant rapes and killings by Fulani terrorists. But any security outfit set up to attack ESN cannot be allowed to exist. “All Biafrans both home and abroad must support ESN security outfit. We are aware that some unscrupulous individuals and groups including traitors are trying to use Onitsha Ado vigilante to create confusion in our land. Communities are free to form their own vigilante to protect their villages and towns from Fulani terrorists attack. “But any vigilante group set up to undermine or sabotage IPOB and ESN will end in disgrace. May we reiterate that we are not against any village vigilante or market vigilante group but if it works against ESN personnel it will surely end in disaster.” https://afnews.ng/amp/threatening-and-insulting-obi-of-onitsha-nnamdi-kanu-clears-the-air/?fbclid=IwAR1dgYOgyWG1SeXYI6UcXPJ8i1gSwkB9rOWvh8EKMDp2HR8hwAdjO6E3yOs Lalasticlala |
Speaking at the senate plenary session, Senator Aishatu Dahiru, representing Mubi Central, and Senator Seriake Dickson, representing Bayelsa West, recently made claims on Nigeria’s population figures and land mass. Here is a fact check of two of their claims: Claim one: Senator Dahiru claimed the population of Mubi North was higher than the entire Bayelsa State. Senator Dickson, who was a former governor of Bayelsa State, disagreed. Claim two: Senator Dickson claimed that the size of Bayelsa – physical landmass and water bodies – was three times bigger than some states in Nigeria. VERDICT: False. Senator Dahiru’s claim that the population of Mubi North was higher than that of the entire Bayelsa State is false. The claim is not supported by the 2006 population census data from the National Population Commission (NPC) or the population estimates published by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Similarly, Senator Dickson’s claim that the size of Bayelsa was three times bigger than some states in Nigeria is false. Records from the Office of the Surveyor-General do not support the claim. Full Text Presenting a recent bill on the need to establish a Federal Medical Centre in Mubi during a plenary session, Senator Dahiru compared the Mubi North Local Government Area and Bayelsa State in terms of population. She said Mubi, with a total landmass of 506.4km2, was bigger than Bayelsa State’s eight local government areas with a population of 1,704,515. She said Mubi has a population of 759,045, which together with the population of Mubi North (a local government area headquartered in Mubi) makes it 2,089,540 people (very much higher than Bayelsa State’s eight local government areas, with a population of 1,704,515). But how true is Senator Dahiru’s claim that the population of Mubi North, including Mubi town, is higher than the population of Bayelsa State as a whole? Meanwhile, in countering Senator Dahiru’s claim, Senator Dickson also declaimed that figures presented by Senator Dahiru were not verifiable. The former governor claimed that the size of Bayelsa, the physical land mass and the water bodies, was thrice bigger than some states in the country. “In my senatorial district, it will take me four days to go round. In my local government, Sagbama, it will take me three days to go round,” he said. But how true is Senator Dickson’s claim that Bayelsa is three times bigger than some states in Nigeria. Verification Nigeria’s official population figures are outdated considering that the last national census was conducted in 2006, being 15 years ago. However, being the only authentic data for Nigeria’s population, the figures were consulted to verify the claim. Census data sourced from the NPC showed that as at 2006, the population of Bayelsa was 1,704,515. Conversely, the NPC declared the population of Mubi North as 151,072 people as of the 2006 census. It is worth noting that population estimates were also consulted to verify the claim. The NBS published population estimates in its Annual Abstract of Statistics for both states and local government areas. The 2011 Annual Abstract of Statistics published by the NBS showed that while the estimated population of Mubi North in 2010 was 170,151, that of the entire Bayelsa State was 1,914,764. The latest NBS’ Annual Abstract of Statistics, published in 2017, dropped population estimates for local government areas. Therefore, both the 2006 census data and the population estimates published by the NBS in 2011 (being the latest for population estimates by local government areas) showed that the population of Bayelsa State is bigger than that of Mubi North. On the second claim, data from the Office of the Surveyor-General showed that Bayelsa State occupies a total area (both land mass and water bodies) of 9,059 square kilometres (km2), measuring 905,900 hectares, 2,228,514 acres and 3,538.67 square miles. Analysis of Area of Nigeria segregated by states by the Surveyor-General showed that Bayelsa State is bigger than nine states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The states include Abia (4,900km2), Akwa Ibom (6,900km2) Anambra (4,865km2), Ebonyi (6,400km2), Ekiti (5,435km2), Enugu (7,534km2), Imo (5,288km2), Lagos (3,671km2), Osun (9,026km2) and the FCT (7,607km2). For Bayelsa State to be three times bigger than a state, the state must occupy an area less than 3,020km2 (that is, the 9,059km2 area which the state occupies divided by three). Records from the Office of the Surveyor-General published by the NBS in its latest Annual Abstract of Statistics in 2017 show that no state in Nigeria occupies an area less than 3,020km2. Conclusion Senator Dahiru’s claim that the population of Mubi North was higher than that of the entire Bayelsa State is false. The claim is not supported by data from the National Population Commission or the National Bureau of Statistics. Both the 2006 census data and population estimates published by the NBS showed that the population of Bayelsa State is bigger than that of Mubi North. Similarly, Senator Dickson’s claim that the size of Bayelsa was three times bigger than some states in Nigeria is false. Records from the Office of the Surveyor-General do not support the claim. https://dailytrust.com/mubi-norths-population-not-higher-than-bayelsas-8-lgas |
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa came to power in 2015 with a strong pledge to develop Asaba the capital of Delta state. Not many people took him seriously for one obvious reason. They did not believe him. Politicians are masters of tricks and empty promises. Whether on the campaign podium or inauguration stand, they say whatever thing catches their fancy, all to deceive the “gullible” masses. Okowa particularly stirred curiosity, on that fateful day of May 29th as he took the oath of office before the Chief Justice of Delta state, Hon.Justice Marshall Umukoro. Standing with a huge Bible in his hand, the Owa Alero-born politician announced that he would forward “to the Delta State House of Assembly within one week of inauguration” an executive bill tagged “Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency Bill, 2015” The bill, according to Governor Okowa, was intended to transform Asaba into a befitting state capital. Since 1991 when the State was created, Asaba had remained nothing short of a glorified village. Hence, Deltans received the promise with cautious optimism. Successive governments in the state had tried to improve Asaba. The administration of the first civilian leader of the state, Chief Felix Ovuodoroye Ibru, now late, laid foundation for development. His successor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori also made efforts before he handed over to Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan, who built the Asaba Airport and the new government house. But then Asaba by structure and topography remained a sorry sight almost run over by flood. It lacked good roads, modern architecture and other critical infrastructure necessary for effective government business. It was generally mocked as a glorified state capital with the poorest social amenities within the six states of the Niger Delta, coming only second after Yenegoa in Bayelsa. Okowa faced the lamentable parlous condition of Asaba under the worst political climate in the annals of the multi-ethnic state. He came to power when oil, the mainstay of Nigeria‘s economy had fallen to an all-time low of 12 dollars a barrel, a hopeless situation exacerbated by huge wage bill of Delta workforce. Who can forget the economic state of Nigeria, particularly Delta in 2015 and how the Governor painstakingly tried to explain himself to Deltans. Many did not believe him, rather, he earned the uncharitable sobriquet of ”Ego Aria” (no money) by all and sundry. He was not deterred. Deploying exceptional ingenuity in managing a complex season of economic recession, the Governor rolled out a comprehensive work plan for Asaba under the template of capital development agenda. To change the face of the city, he mobilized bulldozers to strategic points clearing and expanding. By the time the machines quietened down, columns and columns of roads running into several kilometers have emerged across Asaba, decorated with giant street lights and gardens. Okowa has replicated this road magic in satellite towns and communities around Delta. A feat that had since earned him a popular nickname “Road Master”. A multi-billion-naira storm drainage system had also been put in place to solve, for the first time, perennial flooding of Asaba. Even before the project is completed, residents are already heaving a sigh of relief. The horror inflicted on residents by heavy floods each time it rained is now a thing of the past. The Maryam Babangida road reconstructed by Okowa and commissioned by Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal in March 2020 is particularly salutary given its socio-economic importance with its location in the business district of Asaba. While inaugurating the 1.88 kilometre Mariam Babangida Way in Asaba, Tambuwal described Governor Okowa as “a sound, pragmatic and accommodating leader who has the people’s interest at heart.” He added that the Governors’ Forum and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) have much regard for the Delta Governor as a man with the grace to handle difficult tasks. The Direct Labour Agency, DLA road, one of the longest roads in Asaba was recently commissioned by former Senate President and ex-governor of Kwara State, Rt.Hon. Bukola Saraki amid pomp and pageantry, another glorious feather on Okowa’s cap. If you know Asaba very well, you would know the pains residents and business owners went through on this particular road. Expansion and elongation of Okpanam road remains another achievement residents of that area will not forget. Madonna College road is another road that has helped to open up the state capital as even adjoining streets are feeling the impact of the Road Master. A Court of Appeal complex has opened in Asaba, courtesy of Governor Okowa. A development that now places the city among the prestigious league of state capitals with such legal monuments. Before now, those seeking Appeal court judgements had to travel to Benin in Edo state. Okowa had not only ended this practice with all the risk factors but also enhanced the dispensation of justice for the good of Deltans. The Asaba Airport built by the previous administration of Uduaghan came as a laudable initiative. But it faced teething problems resulting in its down grading by aviation authorities. Today, the Okowa leadership has reversed all that as the Airport is now fully functional, fitted with ultra-modern facilities and excellent tarmac to welcome big airplanes including trans – world airliners. Few weeks ago this same administration took a bold step to position the airport for optimum service and continuity through concessioning. According to Governor Okowa, the consortium would pump N28bn (Twenty Eight Billion Naira) into the development of the Asaba airport as the investors handle the concession for 30 (Thirty) years. The private managers of the airport had already paid the sum of one billion Naira to the Delta state government as revealed by the Commissioner for finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije, while the agreement will see Delta earning 100 million naira annually from the mouth-watering deal. Within the past five years of governance, what perhaps stands as Okowa’s greatest legacy so far is Delta State Civil Service Secretariat located on Maryam Babangida way. The gigantic building is a multi-billion-naira wondrous architecture. Apart from the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, no other civil service Secretariat is bigger than Delta’s in Nigeria. The elegant structure will accommodate all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Asaba. With widespread innovative projects in Asaba, dedicated to the wellbeing of the people of Delta State, Governor Okowa has set a trailblazing direction in the development of the state capital. It is worthy of note that under the present administration, more investors are coming into the state. More individuals are building private and commercial buildings, opening up the capital city. Plazas and one-stop shops are sprawling here and there. More government-private partnerships are springing up. A typical example is the Spare Parts market on the Asaba/Benin Expressway. When opened, it will bring in more revenue and service to the state as Onitsha was the go-to place. Under Governor Okowa, it is safe to conclude that Asaba is the fastest-growing state capital in Africa’s most populous nation. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/03/okowas-magic-wand-in-asaba/ Lalasticlala |
Is God really against taking Alcohol or Just against excess of It. Galatians 5:19–21: "The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: ... drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God ." Ephesians 5:18: "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to Immoral behavior. The bible was particular about it drunkeness and not against alcohol. Further 1. The Bible allows Christians to drink alcohol for medical reasons. Paul told Timothy, "Stop drinking only water and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illness." (1 Timothy 5:23 ) The Bible forbids drinking if it hinders the gospel. Paul explained in 1 Corinthians 9 that even though he was allowed to eat and drink anything he wanted, he was very careful not to do things that would hinder the gospel of Christ. He said, "Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many a possible. Proverbs 31:4-5 4 It is not for kings, Lemuel— it is not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer, 5 lest they drink and forget what has been decreed, and deprive all the oppressed of their rights. What do you think God was reallly emphasizing on? |

The Presidency, on Friday, declared separatist agitators such as Sunday Igboho and Asari Dokubo as charlatans sponsored to bully the President Muhammadu Buhari, thinking he will cower or panic. Igboho had recently unilaterally declared that the South-West was no longer part of Nigeria. During his declaration, the self-acclaimed activist said the major resources of Nigeria were in the hands of northerners, stressing that Yoruba people were being killed and their land taken over. Dokubo also announced the establishment of Biafra Customary Government in which he incorporated some parts of the South-East and South-South as part of the territory. But speaking on Friday on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ programme, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu said the Buhari-led government will not be kicked out of power by any group through blackmail. The presidential aide urged people with “strong ambitions” to wait for another two years to contest in the 2023 presidential election. He said, “I want to assure Nigerians that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is addressing multiple challenges that are facing the country, especially in dealing with security and yet we are still making progress in agriculture, economy, anti-corruption, which are the key policies that brought the party and the government to office. “It is sad for the country that opposition is exploiting some of these things. It is quite unfortunate and I want to assure that the president remains focused in preserving the security and unity of this country. “It is an established fact that all nations of the world face problems and what is expected of all well-meaning members of the society is that they should team up with the government so that together we will all fight criminality and insurgency and all that. “We accept that dissent is allowed, this is a democracy and people have a right to tell truth to government but we must be careful in doing that. Nobody can bring down the government because this is a government elected democratically. “Governments in a democracy come through periodic elections and if we have a government in office as we have, sponsored by political parties to win the elections, it is telling you that that confidence of the public is still there.” http://saharareporters.com/2021/03/26/ighoho-asari-dokubo-others-are-charlatans-sponsored-bully-buhari-%E2%80%94-presidency?fbclid=IwAR27kA-xPpmW9YQkHyLqvVOjq3bN6Uicx2q9DVPFML1tM1PCvPSsOBu1E0k |

THE Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, Christian Ita, has said there won’t be any response to the alleged outburst of the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, against Ayade. Ayade had complained about the injustice he was getting from his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, when the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, visited him on Friday. This triggered an angry reaction from Wike. “We are not responding to Wike’s outburst. We don’t have any altercation. We never mentioned Wike. We have nothing to say to him. Bala Mohammed came and the governor lamented the ill-treatment he is getting in the PDP and there was no where he mentioned Wike or made reference to Wike. We don’t know where the outburst is coming from; so, we are not responding,” Ita stated. Ayade had said during Mohammed’s visit, “Now, let me say this as a very clear warning. I am a very smart person but I carry humility. One single injustice and they (PDP) will see a new Cross River State. “It does appear that your party (PDP) seems to celebrate people who threaten and stress them. I am seated and dancing on the fence.” Wike’s statement read in part, “If you want to talk about us, come out and be bold and talk about Rivers State…I am not a 419 governor. When the Federal Government refunded us money, I came and announced it.” https://punchng.com/weve-no-response-to-wikes-tirade-says-criver/?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwAR0-WIvL6HELAVybelh9XzEBVReSEFDB8MunkNmCxbH6WOFtaFKb2YRNOws#Echobox=1616405837 |

Who are you? Who are you deceiving? Don’t worry, we will meet very soon! Thunder fire you there! ~ Governor Nyesom Wike to Ben Ayade of Cross River State. Thunder Fire You!” – Wike Tells Ayade, Says A Very Poor State Will Be Giving Budgets In Trillions The Governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike has fired back at his Cross River State counterpart, Sen. Ben Ayade. Both Governors are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Wike in a statement in Port Harcourt at the weekend said he challenged Ayade to come and commission projects and not bringing out fraudulent and unrealistic budgets for a poor state like Cross River. “If you want to talk about us, come out and be bold and talk about Rivers state and we’ll teach you a lesson… “…I am not a 419 governor. When Federal Government refunded us money, I came and announced it…some of them, they were given the same money as me, did they announce it to their state? “I challenge the one that was talking last night (Ayade), to invite people to come and commission projects. “It’s not to shortchange your people, carrying their forest reserve and sell as timber. “It’s not by force, it’s not by propaganda, it’s not by giving budget that’s unrealistic, fraudulent budgets…a very poor state (Cross River) will be giving budgets of over one trillion when Rivers state cannot give a budget of N400 Billion”, Wike said. He added, “Who are you, who are you deceiving? Don’t worry, we will meet very soon! Thunder fire them!” Recall that Ayade had earlier warned the PDP against injustice, calling Wike a 419 (Fraudulent) Governor. “Now let me say this as a very clear warning. I am a very smart person but I carry humility. One single injustice and they (PDP) will see a new Cross River state. “It does appear that your party (PDP), seem to celebrate people who threaten and stress them. “I am seated and dancing on the fence”, Ayade warns the PDP. https://paradisenews.ng/65689/thunder-fire-you-wike-tells-ayade-says-a-very-poor-state-will-be-giving-budgets-in-trillions Lalasticlala

Today in History: Chinua Achebe died. Chinua Achebe, was a renowned writer, poet, professor and critic. He hailed from Ogidi in Anambra state. His 1958 debut novel, "Things Fall Apart" shot him to prominence. On this day 2013, he died in Boston USA, aged 83. Great Igbo son. Gone but not forgotten! events. Born Albert Chinụalụmọgụ Achebe , 16 November 1930 – 21 March 2013) was a Nigerian novelist, poet, professor, and critic. His first novel Things Fall Apart (1958), often considered his masterpiece , is the most widely read book in modern African literature. Raised by his parents in the Igbo town of Ogidi in southeastern Nigeria, Achebe excelled at Government College Umuahia and won a scholarship to study medicine, but changed his studies to English literature at University College (now the University of Ibadan ). He became fascinated with world religions and traditional African cultures, and began writing stories as a university student. After graduation, he worked for the Nigerian Broadcasting Service (NBS) and soon moved to the metropolis of Lagos . He gained worldwide attention for his novel Things Fall Apart in the late 1950s; his later novels include No Longer at Ease (1960), Arrow of God (1964), A Man of the People (1966), and Anthills of the Savannah (1987). Achebe wrote his novels in English and defended the use of English, a "language of colonisers," in African literature. In 1975, his lecture " An Image of Africa: Racism in Conrad's Heart of Darkness " featured a criticism of Joseph Conrad as "a thoroughgoing racist;" it was later published in The Massachusetts Review amid controversy. When the region of Biafra broke away from Nigeria in 1967, Achebe became a supporter of Biafran independence and acted as ambassador for the people of the new nation. The civil war that took place over the territory, commonly known as the Nigerian Civil War , ravaged the populace, and as starvation and violence took its toll, he appealed to the people of Europe and the Americas for aid. When the Nigerian government retook the region in 1970, he involved himself in political parties but soon resigned due to frustration over the corruption and elitism he witnessed. He lived in the United States for several years in the 1970s, and returned to the U.S. in 1990, after a car crash left him partially disabled. A titled Igbo chief himself, Achebe focuses his novels on the traditions of Igbo society, the effect of Christian influences, and the clash of Western and traditional African values during and after the colonial era. His style relies heavily on the Igbo oral tradition, and combines straightforward narration with representations of folk stories, proverbs, and oratory. He also published a large number of short stories, children's books, and essay collections. Upon Achebe's return to the United States in 1990, he began an eighteen-year tenure at Bard College as the Charles P. Stevenson Professor of Languages and Literature. From 2009 until his death, he served as David and Marianna Fisher University Professor and Professor of Africana Studies at Brown University.

How Biafra Agitation Broke Into Factions Under Kanu, Mefor, Dokubo Over Money, Others— Intel Report. The issue which has splintered IPOB is one of control and money. Mr Kanu forced Mr Mefor out of IPOB after a faction of the UK chapter, led by Mefor, asked for an account of funds raised. The factions springing up in the Indigenous Peoples Of Biafra among Nnamdi Kanu, Asari Dokubo and Uche Mefor, are largely because of financial resources and control, according to a report by the SB Morgen Intelligence. The African-focused research firm, in its March 2021 report, which focused on IPOB, revealed that the Biafran group at the moment “is seriously fractured, with many erstwhile key members now either with Mr Mefor or charting their own course.” At a press conference on Saturday, March 13, 2021, Dokubo, a former President of the Ijaw Youth Council, and the founder of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, had said he was the Chairman of the implementation committee for a new organisation called the Biafra Customary Government. But absent from the press conference were the representatives of the Nnamdi Kanu’s IPOB, who had been vocal in the agitation in recent years. The SB Intel report stated that Mefor, formerly Nnamdi Kanu’s deputy in IPOB, and Ralph Uwazuruike, founder of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, were however in attendance at Dokubo’s meeting, fuelling fresh realignments in the agitation and the sidelining of Kanu. It said, “The absence of Mr Kanu from the meeting brings into the open a fracture within the secessionist movement in the former Eastern Region of Nigeria. Mr Mefor, Mr Uwazurike and Mr Dokubo have come together to form a 'government' with Mr Dokubo as chairman, Mr Mefor as Information Officer, and George Onyibe, a former top IPOB member who fell out with Mr Kanu in September 2020. “The issue which has splintered IPOB is one of control and money. Mr Kanu forced Mr Mefor out of IPOB after a faction of the UK chapter, led by Mefor, asked for an account of funds raised. “Following that request, Kanu abolished the position of Deputy Leader (the position occupied by Mefor), but many members of the UK chapter remained loyal to Mefor who many see as a better organiser than Kanu. Mr Mefor is also registered as the deputy director of the organisation in the UK, which means that Mr Kanu’s abolition of the position of Deputy Leader did not affect his official status. “As the membership of the group divided behind both men, Kanu raised the stakes on 3 March when he announced the dissolution of the UK chapter of IPOB in a radio broadcast. “All the sources we spoke to were certain that while he is nowhere near as charismatic, Mr Mefor is a far better organiser than Mr Kanu. From a Nigerian perspective, this means that he is more dangerous. Mr Dokubo aligning with Mefor probably amplifies the threat to the country’s oil economy, even though the bigger threat from the Niger Delta remains Government 'Tompolo' Ekpemukpolo.” The report noted that the Mefor group aligning with Dokubo would have a stronger effect on the southern region, “with the Niger Delta militants able to respond in kind to any provocations by Nigerian security forces.” “Uche Mefor, like Ralph Uwazurike, believes in non-violent agitation and the lobbying of world powers to achieve an aim that they believe the entire region that comprised the defunct state of Biafra subscribes to. This is in stark contrast with the actions of IPOB’s paramilitary wing, the Eastern Security Network, which is operated by the faction of IPOB loyal to Kanu. “Mefor’s non-violent approach is likely to gain him more support amongst the Igbo middle class who are afraid of a repeat of the scorched earth kind of war that was fought 50 years ago. Most of those who may support the Mefor group are those especially turned off by Kanu’s abrasive tactics which have earned him more enemies in high places both within South-East Nigeria and without,” the report added. http://saharareporters.com/2021/03/17/how-biafra-agitation-broke-factions-under-kanu-mefor-dokubo-over-money-others%E2%80%94-intel?fbclid=IwAR19PY9jKSWSleT6zstmt9H3g0GE-phxYPd822RCevX-lM1BrMVlvCSSzkE |
We are not Interested, Anambra state breaks out from Biafra. Nnamdi Kanu is fooling himself. Indigenes of Anambra State under the auspices of Anambra Peoples Assembly (APA), yesterday denounced the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, and his struggle for secession. The Assembly, which declared that Anambra people will participate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state, warned biafra agitators to maintain a distance from the state. According to a statement signed by its coordinator, Mazi Nnamdi Okorafor, the group noted that the people of Anambra State are law-abiding and will not be dragged along by any individual or group of persons. “I will assume that there are no men in Igbo land, if we allow a small boy to drag all of us into war against Nigeria through hate speech,” he said. Okorafor, who noted that being Igbo does not automatically translate to membership of IPOB, said Kanu is not a leader of the Igbos. ”Nnamdi Kanu is making a fool of himself, very soon his paymasters will distance themselves from him. He and his illiterate minions will be dancing alone in the market square naked. Being Igbo does not mean you are an IPOB member, neither does being an IPOB leader makes you the leader of the Igbos,” he stated. He also described Kanu as a confusionist who suggest ideas capable of destroying lives, while he left his family in United Kingdom. ”Let truth be told. But with due respect to the right thinking and illustrious sons and daughters of Abia State. Let me ask these questions, When did an Abia man become wiser than the Anambra man to warrant a confusionist like Nnamdi Kanu to order Anambra people not to vote while his Abia governor is still on seat? Why would the good, wise and hard-working Anambra sons and daughters listen to a guy man who kept his wife and kids in London come here to suggest what is capable of destroying the lives of young Anambra youths. Anambra people should not allow anybody to toy with their future and destiny,” Okorafor added. According to him; “We agree that self-determination is the right of every person or group in Nigeria, that being said. We hereby declare that Anambra state has distanced self from Biafra struggle. All Biafra activists and agitators are warned to leave Anambra and return to their various states of origin. We are too big to be dragged along by any person or group of persons. Anambra state indigenes and lawful residents will register and participate fully in the forthcoming governorship elections. http://leadership.ng/2017/06/30/anambra-secedes-biafra/

Omo-Agege is a big Disappointment. Kudos to Abdullahi the senate Leader (Video). Imagine an Hausa man the senate Leader supporting Abaribe that his bill is good and in support of it and should scale second reading because without fear or favour they should make sure the armed reflect Nigeria representation.
