Romance › Re: My Aunty's Husband Wants To Marry Me. He Says He's In Love by Cuddlemii: 2:05pm On Jul 27, 2012*. Modified: 5:49am On Jul 28, 2012 |
Amya: And for calling my Aunt a b.tch, I have reason to believe that shƺ sees other men when he's not around. I never told him or anybody. Plus the kind of friends shƺ hangs out with are of questionable character. Portharcourt girls! shƺ didn't go to school. . . . Don't have a job, just hang around the net all day looking for men? Her best friend has been married to 4 white men in the space of two years!
I'm well educated and I work. How much lousy change can the stupid Akata drop sef. Both of them should carry their wahala and go sef. I ain't telling nobody! Amya, you keep contradicting yourself with your comments. You have given the pieces to all the missing puzzle already! What is your business with if your aunty is a b.tch or not? She found herself a husband, go find yours, simple! You should never have had bbm chat with your uncle(ur aunt's hubby) from the very beginning, what does your aunty's husband want to entertain you with in a chat? Its easy to know a man with intentions based on the chat frequency and tone, you were carried away enjoying the attention and LED HIM ON. If you simply did not like it, trust me you would have insulted him or ignored him or said things like, "i am busy so I didn't see your message, uncle i have things to do, take care, uncle my aunty loves you bla bla bla". He would have gotten the message and backed off! There is something called discipline and integrity, if a man smells that in you, he won't offer you trash! For example, if you chat with a guy, he either ask you to phuck him or date him based on how you present yourself. Why did you even bring this to nl? There are some things you don't need advise for because all you needed do was to have done the right thing even if its to delete his contact, that would have been my first step. Based on previous threads you have created, I think you need to outline your goals in a relationship and set standards for yourself. Else men would use you! The chopping his money part was very degrading and has given an impression. Only God knows what you have been feeding that man with about your aunt if you can mess her up on a public forum filled with strangers. Do the right thing! |

Pharoh: With hindsight, i believe the debate would have been conducted differently but its all good that we have the chance to learn from experience as it is the best teacher. There are some arguments coming up which needs to be addressed and i should say that the debate might have been rushed. I am following the original threads right now and the originator really had lofty ideas but the normal distractions eventually influenced the final structure. I think the coordinating team should be expanded to include more people for behind the scenes deliberations. I will try to drop one or two suggestions before the next debate so that we will not have some of these arguments in the future.
Says me initially but i guess my assumptions were wrong and you realy have a good memory you know.
I am doing okay and you?, been away for a while due to some issues but am back now and congrats for being a mod, hope you do well and bring changes to your section of influence. Thanks, I hope you come support the section with ideas too, seem you came back pregnant with ideas. |

Pharoh: This was a wonderful thing to do ( wanted to do stuffs like this as well ) and thanks to everyone who made it happen and to the project coordinator ( don't remember me again i guess ).
Hope we can all take a retrospective view of the past events and see how we can make this debate better going forward. In my personal perspective, i think shymexx should have not been banned if he did not break the debating rules ( was there any rule concerning plagiarism before the debate commenced? ) and also i think some posters will like to make some suggestion to the debate and or see how it can be expanded and reorganized with adequate inputs.
Thanks everyone and keep the discussion going but with less fighting please . Says who? How are you? |

coogar: this is fraudulent....5 judges minus the judge that stepped down...yet 3 results were presented! my simple arithmetic tells me 5-1 = 4. what is this blatant fraud perpetrated by Nigerian judges?
then again, that was supposed to be the semis.... that newacca mauled shymmex does not mean he would obliterate coogar... he won his round, i won my round....shouldn't there be a clash between the 2? I didnt receive all the scores on time. I have updated it. Sorry about that. |

Breezy047's Arguement breezy047: Good day ladies and gentlemen, my honourable panel of judges, co-debaters and my fellow audience.
For some time now there has been deliberation over the topic ‘Godfatherism is the major cause of corruption and developmental crisis in Nigeria’ and I am here today to debate AGAINST this motion. I have succeeded in making this deliberation as brief and comprehensive as possible and here we go.
1. Look beyond Godfatherism. Almost everyone here that is carried along with this present trend of politics in Nigeria will agree with me that to solve the current problem of corruption and developmental crisis in this nation, you will need to look BEYOND Godfatherism. As Godfatherism is only a VEHICLE whose engine you will need to look beyond to catch a bare sight of the DRIVER. My arguments are extensively presented below.
2. Obasanjo as a case study. As you know, when Obasanjo came into power in 1999, he promoted elite corruption to the extreme where only almost a few elite had access to the wealth of the state at the expense of the ordinary people and He changed the modus operandi of godfatherism suddenly. Under his nose, the Adedibu-ladoja (Ibadan), Saraki-Lawal (Ilorin) and Uba-Ngige(Anambra) saga occurred. The culprits were not properly brought to book according to the standing laws of this nation. Now it is no secret that the President 'Obasanjo' at this time clearly allowed and permitted this trend only to favor his own political PARTY (that was in power) and its obvious egocentric ends. Because this party was desperate and largely interested in devising means to circumvent the ordinary law and rise above every citizen, policies or constitution that may stand in their way. This party was desperate to remain in power forever and that is clearly one of the major reasons why the 1999 constitution was amended in section 308 to provide IMMUNITY for political office holders. And this is not the end because this moment I openly put it to you that Godfatherism became a tool in the hands of this PARTY that had already or beforehand if you like defected the law and laid a massive foundation of inappropriate political structure. And as you follow, this leads US to the reality of the hideous fact that Godfatherism is only a tool or a toy in the hands of a desperate GIANT that feeds on and thrives with corruption, self-interest and a desperate lust for power. Hence you quickly realize that Godfatherism as WE see is not the problem here as it was merely polished by greater element and forces which serve as the foundation to the nation’s political crisis.
3. Babangida and Tinubu as a case study. The Babangida regime (1985 - 1993) practiced Godfatherism and it achieved a vast sum of development because of strict disciplinary measures taken. Now this present regime also practices Godfatherism but development is stunted. This reveals that the Godfatherism cannot rise above the law except when greater forces allow it to. Also as we know that Godfatherism is presently practiced in the politics of Lagos with Tinubu occupying the role of the Godfather, yet the state has witnessed notable amount of development in infrastructure. Now the political party that installed the present Governor of Lagos has been noted and observed by sundry to be a keen achiever and has executed better administration than the present ruling party. Though they practice Godfatherism too, compared with the ruling party, the state within the grasp of their rule has achieved significant development. If through inappropriate political structure one party uses Godfatherism and some other means to achieve corruption, would it make any sense to lay blames on these means and leave out the source? Not so? The political and developmental problem goes deeper than Godfatherism. There is a whole lot of rot beneath the lid.
In conclusion, If Nigeria as a nation is ready for a change in its political situation, it must be ready to look beyond Godfatherism. It must be ready to address the foundation of these problem, such as the inappropriate political structure, the ethnic divide/issues, the elite corruption and a host of others. |
