I don't think Igbos should bother with some of these attention seeking sniping going on in these pages. If I understand the premise, he claims that some Igbos claim certain SS groups as Igbos as a prelude to grabbing their lands and "oyel".

I am Nkwerre from IMO state and apparently people have been calling us Igbos for hundreds of years but nobody has come to grab our lands yet just because we agreed to be called Igbos. People equally call Ngwa Igbo but I don't see other Igbos coming to grab Ngwa lands ( or Aba for that matter) and Oil since they agreed to become Igbos. The argument is too ridiculous to discuss.


A less naive approach would be to start by asking, "what defines a community of people as Igbo?". Definitely, it can't be the present administrative Bantustans (apologies Asari) now called "states" created by various reincarnations of our enemies starting from the British who dismembered the Anioma (into what is today Edo, Delta, Anambara, IMO and Rivers States) or the post-war hacking off of parts of our territory to deny us oil revenue.

Originally, I used to think that if a community spoke an Igbo dialect then the community was Igbo. However, it is now time to change that definition to a more arbitrary one to stop the continuous insult by people who are in the true sense tangential to our common aspirations as a people. For me now, Igbos are only those who overwhelmingly affirm to be such.

But then, you talk about the SW voting Buhari who promised to shred the national conference report. Only a silly person would expect a north westerner or north easterner to implement any confab report. But then, was GEJ going to also implement the report?... NEVER. It is also only a silly person that would have believed that GEJ had the political will or courage to implement the report.

The election was purely a case of choosing between 2 unsound candidates, but while one had the political will to fight corruption, the other not only did not have the political will nor courage, he did not also give a damn about the existence of corruption.

Finally, I am arguing with someone whose reasoning is beclouded by the emotions of hate, and anger and disgust over the defeat of GEJ and emergence of a person he terms mumuharri; I would be silly if I expect any sensible or balanced arguments from someone who is emotional. Goodnight!
You're simply being diversionary. If you go back to the very beginnings of my posting history, I have consistently supported the break up of this abomination called Nigeria. In fact I can't think of any popular pro-Biafra poster who suddenly started supporting Biafra because an Ijaw man lost an election. This is simply part of the long series of lies against the Biafran struggle from the 60's.

Mumuharri is simply a symptom of what is wrong with Nigeria. I have stronger feelings towards the clown that calls himself my state governor(Roaches) than Mumuharri. However when I was opposing Okorocha before the election people like you were accusing me of hating him because he was aligning with the North. The results are becoming increasingly glaring. There is no comfort in being right.

Regarding fighting corruption. When Dullarpo fights it we will see it. There is zero evidence that your hero understands what corruption is let alone fighting it. His records at NNPC, PTF and as a former Head of State are far eloquent than the false robes you folks attempt to don him. Yet again, there is no comfort in being right.

Regarding if the SW wants regional rule, they have always called for regional autonomy in every single national conference so what do you have to say about that?... The 2015 election between GEJ vs Buhari had absolutely nothing to do with a support of regionalism or not because both GEJ and PMB showed absolutely no commitment to that cause. GEJ organised the national conference simply as an election/political tool.

I don't buy the familiar "leadership is the problem" explanation. It's too shallow and lacks any empirical rigour. The SE is part of the Nigerian system and systems follow structure, while individuals modify their behaviour to suit the system. There is a famous psychology experiment called the Stanford Prison Experiment. Young men were divided into the roles of Prisoner and Guard and put in a prison-like environment in the basement of the Psychology Department at Stanford University. The study was meant to last two weeks. But the brutality of the Guards and the suffering of the Prisoners was so intense that it had to be terminated after only six days.

The study provided a graphic illustration of the power of situations to shape individuals' behaviour. It has been argued that the Guards acted the way they did because they conformed blindly to their assigned role, as did he in his position as Prison Superintendent: Guard aggression … was emitted simply as a ‘natural’ consequence of being in the uniform of a ‘guard’ and asserting the power inherent in that role. Furthermore, because the Guards could not help themselves, they could not be blamed for their actions.

Scholars have used this simple and powerful account to explain the atrocities committed by very diverse actors – from the suicide bombers who flew into New York’s Twin Towers on 9/11 to the American torturers at Iraq’s infamous Abu Ghraib prison.

The LGBT are not asking for gay marriage from Biafra but at least for a non repetitiveness of the draconian law of the Nigerian government by the Biafran State.

I remember what made the Biafran movement to fail in 1967.
The refusal to treat the OSU's in the land with dignity and self respect and so it is said that they saboteured the whole mission ( I do not know how true this story was though).
Thank God Igbos views of Osu's have changed and they are gladly treated with respect.

Now how will Biafra treat the LGBT?

An average Hausa or Muslim man can do anything for the sake of Islam. Such "perverted" behaviour is permitted to further the cause of Islam.

This is a fair question. However, we don't have a Biafran state yet and your question can't really be answered as of now. I will suggest that Biafran activists should think carefully (with some originality) before answering this question.

One key issue that has turned me off Nigeria is the institutionalised lack of respect for the rights, feelings and sensibilities of perceived minority groups. Over the years (especially the last 16 years), the discontent amongst these groups have occasionally frothed over and exploded into occasional outbursts of anarchy and violence. The central government's response has been a combination of bribery and heavy handed repression (euphemistically called "carrot and stick" by its proponents).

It occurs to me that while it's very apparent that various minority interests may have a common cause for the creation of a just society recognizing the inalienable rights of all, the reality is that these minority interests are acculturated to deal with one another through mutual suspicion. The result is that a common front is elusive and the current repressive order persists. A case in point is the recent online altercations between Biafran activists and those from the ND.

Personally, I'm a libertarian. I believe in a very limited government. I'm aware that a large percentage of Biafrans are conservative Christians and their faith may color their views on sexual orientation. However, I would argue that the state is better served if they should restrict their religious sentiments to their private lives and accord all minority groups (as far as they don't interfere in the rights of others) those same rights we are currently demanding from the Nigerian state.

You were probably living under a rock when Mumuharri dumped the last confab report in the nearest shredder he could find. You were probably on vacation in some alternate universe when the Arewa unceremoniously rejected the same report. Recently the Nigerian Senate approved the last of his Cabinet picks, but only after the president admitted he hasn’t figured out exactly which portfolios his new ministers will be given.
This one made me laugh until tears started coming from my eyes. After taking 6 months and almost succeeding in getting a cabinet, he's not figured their portfolios yet.

I read with great joys that the Report of the 2014 National Confab of has been rejected by the Norther Leaders.

Stake holders in Nigeria who were not blinded by emotions during the heat up of the confab can recall that the North (Islamic North), castigated the confab because they were not in charge of it.

One of their own even threatened that his people will pull out of Nigeria and join his kindreds in Cameroun.

Well, the confab went ahead and the North "lost" much ground. This report if implemented will weaken the centre. A situation the North does not want to hear.


Jonathan was myopic. He thought he could fix Nigeria. He thought he could bring some change. He thought he is a magician or a super man who can mix oil and water. I keep asking, what do we have in common with the Muhammadan emirates of the North?


The north owns Nigeria! The north has spoken and it is binding to us all.
The rest are slaves! The north has rejected the confab report and that is the end of it all.
It was also the north that rejected the Aburi accord and that was the end it.

Assuming it is the South East that rejected the confab report will it be the end?
If it is the South West or the Niger Delta that rejected the report, will it make any difference.

OBJ called for a constitutional conference, towards the end, Niger Delta walked out. The dinner went on as if northing happened.

When the North barks, Nigeria quake. I hail the north. Bravo!

However, let me state clearly that the days of ignorance and fear are over.
We, the peoples of the Biafra want out of this fraud.

The rejection of the report is good for our course.
That is why hail the North for the rejection.
A big Thumbs UP to able Northern Leaders for living up to our expectations.

Now that is the exact defeatist attitude that will continue to keep us backwards. Who told you it is only the Igbos that are not trusted?.. Do you think the yorubas trust the HAusas and vice versa?... DO you think the middle belt or SS trusts any other group in Nigeria and vice versa?... It would do us good to understand that nobody trusts nobody and there are no brothers in a jungle. In politics, if an alliance must be formed, the terms of agreement have to be agreed in such a way and manner that the benefits to both sides are known before hand; it is like a simple contract. There is no way in which a proper political alliance would be formed between 'A' and 'B', and then after 'A' rules, he hands over power to 'C.' This continuous paranoia of Igbos have prevented us for ages from forming proper alliances and that is exactly why we cannot produce a president. But instead of coming back to the drawing board to strategize, many minds have given up and believe the only way out is a divorce. That's unfortunate!

I don't buy all these bridge building, superior politics nonsense. The benefits never go to the ethnic groups involved but solely to individuals. Buhari is the second Katsina indigenes elected as president in the last 8 years. How has that benefited the common man in Katsina?

Nigeria is structurally dysfunctional. Instead of thinking about how to correct its basic defect, you're thinking about how one individual that bears an Igbo name will take his turn in raping the common will. You should be talking about building a better nation where the ethnicity of an individual is secondary to his ideas and general competence.

So it's only Igbo posters that reply differences of opinion with insults? You engage in this kind of selective observation and imagine that describing your behaviour as hypocritical is an insult. If oil is the issue, there are loads of oil in Ngwa, Egbema, Ohaji, and billions of untapped natural gas in Anambra.

Biafra won't be a repeat of Nigeria obsession with oil. Many top world economies do not have a drop of oil. The most important asset is our brains, not crude oil.

How on earth do claim any one, especially in this 21st century?,Whenever I heard this statement, it makes me shudder. These tribes are not just manufactured, they has been there thousands of years unclaimed, so how do one claim them now.
