The president said in the letter that even some of the projects that were crucial for the attainment of his Seven-point Agenda had been slashed or completely removed from the budget, disclosing those affected included provisions for power-related projects critical to the attainment of targeted 600 megawatts by the end of 2009; allocations for the Multi Year Tariff Order (MYTO) which he said was critical to the ongoing power sector reforms.

ROTFLMAO! Crassly incompetent, bastard, SOB, foolish, super-duper-retarded Yara-Zero giving a pathetic excuse for failure. . .LOL. You FAILED a long time ago, so why pretend it is the budget that will derail your phantom JOKE 202020202020? Any half-brained toddler can very easily see that you FAILED long before arrival, not just on arrival. I could wager anything of value to argue that your supposed 'education' is a big fat JOKE (obtained by family name influence, bought-paid-delivered, let-my-people-go?) and all that 'chemistry lecturer' bull-crap don't even fly because you have no substance to even teach in an elementary school for special needs children! With all the resources at your disposal, what do we get? EXCUSES, COMPLAINTS, WHINING, FAILURE! Gosh you will not last one week in any real work environment even if they only produced fura de nunu, tuwo or even stones and you are 'PRESIDENT'? You're half-dead because you are so unproductive in an assignment for which you chose the terms of reference for your MISgovernment, set the agenda, select and allocate resources. . .yet you failed. . .what EXCUSE should keep you ALIVE for ONE more day in that position where you have been pissing around as a pathetic fukcing loser asking for PITY?

A FAILED president like you will not only produce and preserve a FAILED state status for that country. . .but drive it on the FAST LANE to utter destruction. When the head fails, everything about the body literally fails. . .failure president. . .wanting to go to G20. . .LOL. You have NOTHING in common with ANY of the humans there and I bet if they wanted anyone to 'attach', they will rather prefer a photo shoot with a half-brained toddler to a ZERO man like you!

I bet most people can recognize a FOOLISH leader or a businessman when they encounter or read about one! Would any SANE human being consider loaning out a dime of his money, interest free, while also hoping to survive and finance his existence from loan money from someone else? Well, Yara is only an slowpoke if he ever considered giving any loans and looking to get another loan from the World Bank.

Politics › Re: Would You Give Up Your Car For A Bicycle? by CyberG: 6:45pm On May 13, 2009
@ Topic. . .

I won't literally give up the car because it will come in handy when the winter kicks-in again or when I need to go out at night. . .maybe clubbing. . .or for whatever situations that happen for which a car is ideal. However, right now, the car is PARKED for good and hope I don't have to use it except I need to.

Looking at some of the comments here, it is obvious most Nigerians in Nigeria will think it ridiculous, below their status, dangerous, etc to ride a bicycle especially in a place like Lagos and other places. Well, yes, because Nigeria's road system and general infrastructure is almost completely collapsed and a lot of people's thinking went along with the collapse. A young person who never saw anything really work in his life (in Nigeria) will find it difficult to grasp how anyone suggests a bike can be ridden for 20 miles in a day in Nigeria.

Well, I ride a bike everyday (now in the warm weather), except when it is gone for a tune-up or something, and it is about 9-10 miles one way from home, so a total of about 20 miles a day. I cover that in about half an hour (one way) and I do not always go on the bike trail throughout my journey as I sometimes ride on the main road. Well, the attitude of the car driver is not anything that can be imagined in Nigeria. . .maybe for a long time. Any vehicle seeing a bike on the road will immediately give you so much following distance, or do a lane change, and basically treats you as a "vehicle" at that time. For the life of him, no car driver will ever try to `show-you`for using the road with "real vehicles" and they never born anyone who go hit you and think say he go get away with it. . .but you fit try sha and see what happens. At any uncontrolled intersection, no car will struggle to go before you. . .in fact he will stop well before you get to the intersection. On the bridges, you have dedicated bike tracks and bike trails for road terrains that are not good for a bike rider. If you have a real long commute. . .bike to a train station or bus stop, hop-in (with the bike) and continue at your next convenient train stop. How hard is that? (NOTE: There are still the occasional crazy and inexperienced car drivers, so YOU must equally be careful, protect yourself and exercise discretion ALWAYS)

Benefits of biking are lots and it was listed in an earlier post. . .to which you can add yours and see if it makes sense. However, status symbol is a ridiculous reason not to ride a bike. . .because who cares about your status? "This is not the UK, US or Canada". . .stupid excuse. . .another reason why Nigeria will still be a joke playing. . .catchup (after 2020) when those countries perfect the technology for personal helicopters:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wd99ziWFF7Q&feature=related

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f09_yvcASLM

The guy riding the bike could have a bigger house, bigger car(s), more money than you could ever imagine, etc. . .not minding that your "big" car or SUV is just a burden he wouldn't even take as a gift!
Politics › Bigger Scam Than Haliburton $180m? : Ajaokuta: Yar’adua Agrees To Pay $240m by CyberG(op): 8:21pm On May 12, 2009
Here is a story I just read from SaharaReporters. Isn`t this another stupid decision to dole away and steal Nigeria`s money? This country seems to break it`s record of evil, shame and corruption every single time! By the way, how come the Nigeria-based newspaper houses have not thrown this out there for Nigerians to read?

=================================================================================

The London-based Indian businessman who acquired the Ajaokuta Steel factory and stripped it of its assets is on the cusp of receiving a $240 million windfall from the regime of Umaru Musa Yar’adua.

Investigations by Saharareporters revealed that Yar’adua has signed off on a memo prepared by the notorious Attorney General Michael Aondoakaa. The memo calls for Global Steel Holdings Ltd, a steel giant owned by Mr.Pramod Mittal, to receive $240 million. “This is a bizarre development,” a top official of the Yar’adua regime told our correspondent. “Mr. Mittal’s purchase of Ajaokuta was a scam to begin with. To now pay him with Nigeria’s hard earned cash is to suggest that Nigeria doesn’t know what to do with money.”

The memo, approved last week by Yar’adua, calls for paying close to two hundred and fifty-million dollars to Mittal's GSL so that the company would forego the “share-purchase agreement”. It also would permit the Indian businessman to retain control of Ajaokuta as a concessionaire.

In interviews with numerous contacts within the government and the private sector, one consensus emerged: that Aondoakaa is pushing the gargantuan payment plan for purely selfish reasons. One of them stated, “This is yet another occasion where Aondoakaa’s greed is driving government policy in a direction that will cost Nigerians dearly in financial and other terms.”

Our sources revealed that Mittal had been at daggers drawn with Aondoakaa following the latter’s delay in delivering on a deal to convince Yar’Adua to reverse the federal government’s cancellation of the concession granted the company on Ajaokuta Steel Company. Aondoakaa reportedly asked for and received $6 million from Mittal to persuade Yar'adua to change his mind about the concession.

Yar’Adua had on April 1, 2008 cancelled the concession granted the Indian steel company on Ajaokuta Steel Company by his predecessor, Olusegun Obasanjo, in 2004.

In canceling the deal, the federal government stated that “Instead of investing external funds on the completion of both projects as expected, GSL embarked on massive borrowing from local commercial banks, pledging the assets of Delta Steel as collateral…GSH owes Nigerian banks $192 million…President Yar'Adua has ordered the criminal prosecution of indicated officials and promoters of GSL for asset stripping.”

The GSL then filed a lawsuit at the International Court of Arbitration, Paris, challenging the Nigerian government's decision. The company claimed it had invested over $500 million in the steel plant. GSL also accused the Nigerian government of not giving it “promised support.”

Aondoakaa packaged his memo to Yar'adua as a deal to save Nigeria's face as a friendly "international business destination". But a source familiar with the case described the memo as “a carefully concocted falsehood and misrepresentation.” The source added: “Nigeria’s case is extremely strong and it’s Mittal that should be looking for ways to settle Nigeria for his company’s well-documented scams. To begin with, the concession deal called for him to bring in capital from abroad. Instead, with the collusion of Obasanjo, he turned around and raised money from Nigerian banks. Why then did we cede control to a foreign investor? We might as well have sold the plant to a Nigerian group.”

In approving the memo, Yar’adua empowered Aondoakaa to set up an inter-ministerial committee comprising the Bureau for Public Enterprises (BPE) and other relevant agencies to look into the fine points of the new concession for Mittal.

A highly knowledgeable source in London told Saharareporters that, soon after Yar’adua’s approval, Aondoakaa began negotiations with Mittal to discuss “a sharing formula for the $240 million the Indian businessman stands to receive.”

A technical expert with GSL confided in Saharareporters that Mittal did not invest any money in Ajaokuta. He also stated that, if and when the new deal with Aondoakaa is resolved, the company is unlikely to invest anymore in the project since they already stripped Ajaokuta of its valuable assets.

The latest scam by Aondoakaa puts paid to Yar’adua’s earlier promise to prosecute GSL officials for engaging in “asset-stripping.”

Aondoakaa used that initial threat of prosecution as leverage to extort $6 million from Mittal.

Romance › Re: Nigerian Girl Vs Namibian Girl by CyberG: 10:09pm On May 08, 2009
So, I realize this topic is relatively old but I couldn't resist making a post.

@Poster. . .

You probably have taken a decision and hopefully the one that worked out best for you. If I were in your shoes, under the same circumstance, I WILL pick the Namibian girl! She kept it straight from the beginning and apparently also ticked most of your boxes. . .the other one, naija girl, was still 'gaming' you until the push came to shove? I am NOT surprised. . .and this is not about NAIJA girl bashing at all. It doesn't matter how hard people try to cover an issue, rename (re-brand, is that familiar) a problem or situation, it is the SAME. . .and I bet guys can see through all the typical naija girl BS they have to deal with all year long living abroad.

Personally, I prefer to date a naija girl and I usually have the same feeling you expressed. . .because she is 'NAIJA' you just want her (though there are other things you will definitely like too). Till date, the WORST dating experience I have ever had living outside Nigeria is a Naija girl and I have several Nigerian friends who report the same. . .NAIJA girls need to clean-up their act. No re-branding of their image or 'dogo magana' or playing the victim of naija girl bashing will change the general perception of their attitude as soon as they are out of Nigeria. Some, undoubtedly are still good, but much more than 50% fall in the other category which is statistically significant. Poster, abeg carry Namibian girl under the circumstance before looking at the opportunistic, double-minded, long-throat Naija girl. grin grin
Politics › Re: Nuc Proposes N150,000 Tuition Fee by CyberG: 7:54pm On May 08, 2009
Good IDEA on paper  but impracticable considering that most parents who send their kids to Nigerian schools don't make N150,000 per month. The ones who make millions per month send their kids to school outside Nigeria and doesn't the NUC know that?

I read a proposal by the Nigerian Rally Movement which proposed some new ideas. . .perhaps NUC should take a look at that proposal. To free-up money for education in Nigeria, the HUGE GOVERNMENT and BIG USELESS SPENDING MUST be removed. When Nigeria begins to save billions of Naira per month from it's inefficient and over-bloated government and it's hangers-on, the GOVERNMENT can finally get a clue as to what it is to FUND education in NIGERIA. . .not the JOKE they have been playing for YEARS. When government has truely fulfilled it's obligations. . .no one will complain or have a problem with asking parents to pay higher tuition because the over-all quality of the educational system and quality of life of NIGERIANS would have improved considerably from what it is NOW.

A situation where a NIGERIAN student, gifted and smart could hardly get a MEANINGFUL (even any) scholarship in NIGERIA but here. . .he has FUNDING (scholarships) sufficient for the entire term of his education. . .even to doctoral levels will call to question the BIG JOKE of funding of education in NIGERIA.

Kobojunkie:
If you are never willing to do anything because you believe "THE GOVERNMENT" is all powerful, why bother whinning about "THE GOVERNMENT"? This is sort of like whinning and blaming all one's problems on God, when one is not willing to confront the problems or even God.
What is the "whining" comment about. . .me? You? You're already taking it personal and already bringing "God", "blame", "whine" into this discussion? You should read my post and my point is unambiguous. . .so, don't distort it. . .stay on the issue. . .my post it is there for ALL to see. Didn't you read my post in agreement with Blacksta's "consideration"? I agree there are is little I can do physically from here. . .much like most Nigerians abroad and some at home. . .but continuing a CONVERSATION on issues can NOT be described as you mentioned: "never willing to do anything".

In case you still don't get it, and you should because we are not talking about some other western countries here, the PEOPLE (party) who just ROBBED this election away is "THE GOVERNMENT". . .synonym for the PDP. . .the party that controls the "NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT". You may argue that if you like and whoever wishes can take that up with you.

So, you are suggesting suing the woman for announcing a result she was coerced/influenced to announce by the PDP? Which court will hear the case in Nigeria and do JUSTICE like that done with the case of Yaradua and others too numerous to list. . .especially when the President has GREAT INTEREST in the outcome of the case? (I admit some cases have been decided and hailed by Nigerians as fair but how many times has any court in NIGERIA decided a case heavily influenced by a sitting President. . .now add an overly-corrupted Attorney General. . .ever gotten any JUSTICE and FAIRNESS?). Is there anyone that is not aware of that. . .otherwise. . .state a precedent case in NIGERIA.

My point: the "GOVERNMENT" (PDP) will not and can not ask the woman to spill any information and suing the woman is an exercise in futility. . .because, by the "books", she did "her job". She is appointed and not elected. . .and she reports to someone. . .who reports to the President. She may be subpoenaed to "talk" in some western country but in Nigeria? Let's wait and see.
Politics › Re: Mrs Ayoka Adebayo - Signing Her Shame Warrant by CyberG: 8:37pm On May 06, 2009
Anyone still waiting for the 'GOVERNMENT' to get any information about why she initally resigned and who are the 'PEOPLE' behind it??

I said it then. . ."The more you look the less you see". . .but well when the 'DETAILS' are finally released, please wake me up to read it. . .in case I miss it. What a shame of a nation! sad sad

blacksta:
wetin else man go do - i am about 3500 miles away - i am seriously considering funding a rebel group
Kobojunkie:
You can put that money into better use, IMHO, by funding a group that will take this case and treat it as it would have been if it were out here in the West. Sue her for information. Sue her and make it about her and how she reneged on pledge to the Ekiti people. With proper backing, you could raise hell for her and potentially for INEC as a whole, so that we would at least avoid a repeat of this in Ekiti.

@Blacksta. . .

Gosh. . .I am even more miles away. . .but you are not alone in your thinking. . .

@ Kobokunkie. . .

Sadly suing this woman in Nigeria will NEVER fly. . .you know why? The 'GOVERNMENT'. . .is already at the court where the case will be DECIDED and if the worst came to the very worst. . .you think any 'spoiler' will be left breathing?? And guess what. . .the case will NEVER be resolved. . .much like all the cases we know today.

(2) GIRLS who have been banged maybe by ONE guy or not so much as the ^^^^, usually tone down their rhetoric. . .depending on the circumstance, they hope to marry a VIRGIN guy. . .if possible.

(3) GIRLS who have persevered and, by tooth and nail, kept their VIRGINITY, hope to meet someone who is equally ONE so they can have a tit-for-tat kinda thing, you take my V, I take your V  grin grin

GUYS who do the girls in (1) above, usually will want to marry girls in (3). . .'scared' of their 'handiwork'  grin

GUYS who do the girls in (2), hope to marry (3) or (2)

GUYS who are in (3) often times have not had much opportunities or bungled all them opportunities, mostly!

My unscientific prediction is that more guys will not meet a virgin in their life before they get married. . .while a less number will DISVIRGIN most of the girls. . .which they won't marry. . .hoping to find a 'better' one in future! @Topic. . .first thing after seeing this topic was to laugh at the first post but this is not a laughing matter.

uche777:
We have no other alternative than to condone the evils deeds of our treacherous leaders in govt
Maybe one day God ll deliver us from this dilemma. As for now we have to live in abject penury n poverty till the Messiah who ll take us to the Promise Land comes.
@Uche. . .I don't mean to pick on you but PLEASE, why is it that everything in NAIJA, it is GOD that we mention first? How can we be waiting for God when HE himself, for such a long time, has been waiting for NIGERIANS (human beings) to do things right! GOD will never do for a man that which he has given the RESPONSIBILITY and ABILITY to do! Gosh, I admit I have seen people who ask for alms over here (and this is just a province, not the whole country). . .they are very few! But that is not all. . .all of the 'beggars' are paid welfare and taken care of. . .if they have anything called abject poverty it's their CHOICE, mostly. Why can't Nigeria even do SOMETHING worthwhile and stop calling on GOD for the most basic things other countries have been able to do? Nigeria has so much natural resources, impressive human resources, the climate is great for planting almost year round. . .how can GOD be expected to come and do what again? Assuming he will do anything else, what have WE done with what we have had for YEARS??

Sir Kay:
If you're tired of naija, where do you want to run to?

Are there no evil in other countries? The other day na KATRINA, later na RITA, only God knows what next it'ld be for the Americans. No matter what is happening in Naija, let's just keep on praying for her peace daily please. What is happening in Iraq daily is far far less compared to Naija own o. At least we still dey see rice and beans chop, even if it's not as regular as expected. There are some countries that war, famine, hunger, insecurities are the order of the day o.

All, let's thank God for keeping us in peace, though not always and at the same time pray for God's peace always.
All una wey wan be ANDREWS make una no check out o. cool
@Sir Kay. . .you make a valid point about natural disasters in other countries. . .can you imagine what will happen if any of those calamities. . .which man has very little / no ability to control were to happen in Nigeria? In some of those countries, yes they are not perfect, but my goodness. . .we see how they respond to almost ANYTHING. . .I am sure GOD himself sees how they respond to the smallest harm to anything. . .a baby in an accident, an old man in a collision, even animals. . .early this year. . .some hundreds of birds died because they landed on a tailing pond. . .belonging to an oil company in Canada. . .OMG, it was in the news for several days. . .in Nigeria, if all the birds were to die. . .would the government (or anyone) notice and so something about it. . .holding the company responsible? So, my point: some people do everything they can do to solve their problems. . .not waiting on GOD. . .but we wait and wait. . .can you imagine if good food was served on your table and after all the trouble of cooking it. . .you now wait for someone (wife, mum, girlfriend) to come and put it in your mouth. . .chew it for you and swallow it. . .that is what we do when we say it is GOD this. . .GOD that!

Finally, let me assure you I love Naija. . .was back last year. . .plan to be there again this year. . .but what a load of stress reading all the terrible news? If Naija was only 15% what it is to live elsewhere (places we like to visit / move to) and getting progressively better. . .few Nigerians will wish to live outside Nigeria. However, the Naija we all love. . .home is home. . .has sent thousands to their early grave. . .no one will ask a question and after the usual noise. . .it is forgotten. To get a good job, trouble; to sleep in your house with two eyes closed, trouble; go out at any hour of the night, danger; you're smart in school and you should get a scholarship, most of the money would already be stolen and shared; you wear Nigerian green color, soldiers will kill you; you refuse to give N20 roja, police will kill you; you dress in your isale-apoti (decent clothes), kidnappers / robbers will get you, you drive your car while the naval ratings are blaring their sirens (not an emergency or going to war), you may as well be beaten to death. . .what does the government do. . .NOTHING! Everyone can shout until they are blue in the face. . .nothing ever comes out of it!

So, how can we ever say it is GOD that will do this or that. . .why don't we deal with what we CAN deal with and let GOD worry about the ones we can't? In the foreign countries Nigerians travel to. . .it is very possible to get a very good job without knowing anyone, you see the cops. . .you can walk up to them and have a chat about anything that interests you or ask a question, they will answer with smiles, I have talked to soldiers and naval men in their military tanks/vehicles. . .they will answer all your questions. . .even take pictures with you and tell you what they do and how any military equipment you see works. . .even let you play with it. . .if you wear their branded military gear. . .no one will harass you. . .they appreciate you and see it as patriotism. . .the list goes on and on. . .almost inexhaustible! The "war, famine, hunger, insecurities" you mentioned can only be avoided if NIGERIAN leaders begin to do the right thing before everything finally "kaput". . .otherwise. . .when the country goes belly-up (I pray not). . .it will not be GOD's fault but OURS!!

Well, no need to fight or argue over history. . .I suppose Nigeria has / should have an archive - National Archives where all the history of the country is preserved? Well, my guess is if it does exist, it probably does contain only marginal information, exists on paper but not substance or has been cannibalized and holds little or no meaningful information representative of our history today.

Otherwise, anyone should be able to go and read it and even access it online. But well, most of the things being said here are most likely written in history books of not necessarily a Nigerian man perhaps a foreigner (white)?? The shortest pen is longer than the longest memory. . .I know we don't write things down but believe more in being told stories by the elders. Problem with this is, overtime, the story is changed, details forgotten or mangled destroying the truth of the story.

I will be happy to read and be pleasantly surprised whenever the real stories are released.

@Kobojunkie. . .

"I really hope the government forces her to reveal what transpired. Cause I can not wait 15 years to learn this one ooo!!"

The woman can't and won't reveal anything. . .hence she claims not to have resigned and still in the INEC family after meeting with the 'government'.

Call it pulling wool over our (Nigerians) eyes or the more you look, the less you see. . .it's the same thing. He who choses and pays the piper dictates the tune!
Romance › Re: Why Naija Guys In The Diaspora Go Home To Marry by CyberG: 4:55am On Apr 30, 2009
Interesting topic! First, if I were to meet a Naija lady that lives abroad and not the usual attitudes which are so typical of them, then I will be more than be disposed to the idea. However, I do think Naija guys will keep going home to get married for as long as our ladies are what they are now. Two of my friends here (Naija men) traveled home to get married. People will always do what they want but there are some points I wish to make:

1. Naija girls have the most attitude of all - this is one topic that comes up among guys here - and the consensus is the same. This is not to stereotype every Naija lady but this is what I have practically seen myself. . .the "stuck-upiness" is always so telling. . .and I agree not all Naija ladies are like that. . .but way more than 50%. . .which is statistically significant to form this opinion.

2. Naija girls develop an attitude so fast. . .almost as soon as they step anywhere away from Naija. . .just listen to their accent and see their attitude. . .you can almost calculate how many days she has spent 'away' from Naija. Imagine someone like that trying to pretend she's been away for "so long". . .and before you know it, she starts using all the slangs she hardly knows the real meanings of and how some of them do not constitute decent language. Is it not common for ladies to say: "well, I am single and loving it", "I don't need any man to complete me", "I am single by choice. . .who needs a man anyways?" All these attitudes are developed so fast by Naija chics. . .some ladies reading this can not but agree to some extent.

3. Some ladies may argue that Naija men are afraid of strong independent women and that is why they run home to get married to Naija ladies. . .well, there are lots of such ladies in Naija too but I, personally, will be more than interested in such a lady wherever she is. However, that attribute that should only accentuate the man's interest in the lady more. . .does the opposite as the lady gets is so conceited and the man soon comes to know she doesn't give a Bleep. . .bla bla bla. . .how can a man marry such a Naija lady with that kind of attitude?

I have a friend who has this situation with his wife (both Naija, married abroad) and my friend often tells me that her attitude is that of 'I don't care one way or the other. . .I can take care of myself. . .so divorce, breakup, etc. . ."I don't care"'. Would any sane young man who has got his ducks in a row let some "diasporic" naija lady pour sand in his garri all in the name of marrying here??

Not all Naija guys who go to marry in Naija will be successful. . .but under reasonable care and diligence in searching. . .I will wager that the odds of success are much better than a Naija lady going to marry a Naija guy in Nigeria. . .regardless of how 'exposed' he may have been in Naija. . .I don't have to expatiate much for any one to see the point here.

4. Well, it's all good and to each one his own. However, with this attitude which might only increase as years roll by, Naija ladies should also be ready to live the westernized lifestyle to the hilt - you cannot put up all the westernized attitudes and still expect to be have true Naija men by your side expressing their interest and wanting to treat you as a queen. . .that which ladies wants so badly.

5. Finally, let me say that as Naija men, we also have our own fair share of contributions to this situation but that will be for another time. This post is long enough already. Well, if a Naija lady wants to buzz me. . .don't be shy because I am not. . . grin grin
