What a wasted sacrifice of a life if it is done for Nigeria the way it is now! Go and ask Yaradua, Bankole, IBB, Ibori, etc if they will sacrifice their life for ANYTHING especially Nigeria! Even after stealing the country blind, will they sacrifice anything? So, it is the poor, perpetually beaten-down every day Nigerian whose life was sacrificed a long time ago that should be asked about sacrificing himself again? I will wager that if it were based on what a country has done for its people, some foreign countries have done a lot more for Nigerians than Nigeria. Besides being born in Nigeria and having family in Nigeria. . .can you point out anything else? Some things that a country should do for it's citizens which will make you fight and sacrifice for that country: 1. Equality before the law 2. Your security is guaranteed and security agencies WILL act if you were under threat. 3. Education - Nigeria pretends to fund education. . .well, in my experience. . .what do you think of a country that gives you the opportunity to study and obtain, perhaps, the most advanced knowledge on earth. . .on a funding that takes care of YOU. . .not just school fees. 4. A country where you have real opportunity for advancement if you have what it takes without knowing ANYBODY or asking for CONNECTION. 5. A place that your work. . .just regular work nothing special. . .is enough to make you live very comfortably without stealing or begging for contracts 6. A place where your vote and opinion counts 7. A place where the best of health care is guaranteed whether it is a minor or major illness 8. A place where you can live a normal life even at night without having to be in your house at a certain time. 9. A place where you are free to criticize the government (even President / Prime Minister) openly and you will be heard and not killed at night. 10. A place where if you entered another country as a visitor, they will respect you because of the country's passport that you carry 11. A country where the cops and soldiers are really friendly and you can walk up to them, ask any questions, take pictures and be treated with respect and dignity. 12. A place where almost everything really works. . .power, road, telecommunication, water, gas, etc. . .and you can see where your taxes are going year in and year out! 13. My bad. . .I almost forgot. . .where you get government checks cut out for you every quarter (or thereabout) ![]() |
Way to go MEND! Hope MEND is reading this or someone will be able to ask they read it: 1. Isn't there a way to expand covert operations to Nigeria's root of the problem: Thieving leaders? I am sure you will get a lot of help. . .as a lot of people can instantly identify with this major problem. 2. Do not issue press announcements before attacking any high level target like Aso Rock and the National Assembly which actually only is a shelter for Nigeria's biggest thieves destroying the Niger Delta and Nigeria by proxy. Let us wake up someday and the whole place is gone to dust with the carcass of bastard thieves as meal for dogs and the birds of the air. 3. When will IEDs enter the offensive against this massively corrupt behemoth of a government? When the convoy of Yaradua, Bankole, Jonathan, Obasanjo, Ogbulafor, IBB, Waziri, Ibori, etc. . .runs into this trap and gets blown into shreds. . .at last, the thieving leaders in Nigeria will wake up to the reality that their time is near! 4. Completely cripple every oil export Nigerian leaders have and still use as an avenue to feather their nests. When we are down to MINUS level, may be we will be able to think then. Plus, the environment will get a break and all the looting fronts of oil companies can be sent back to where they came from! |
Nigerians are NOT negative because they analyze and comment on issues in their country which are 99% NEGATIVE. Or, do you think by superficial coloring of NEGATIVE to POSITIVE (surface re-branding), it will suddenly become positive? |
^^^^^ You are far away. . .good for you. . .what about your family?? Well, they may also be far away. . .but that is besides the point. If 0 (ZERO) oil revenues will mark the tipping point for Nigeria's failed leadership and bleak future. . .so be it! What is the point in remaining on a JOURNEY to NOWHERE. . .only directed wherever the WIND (empty-barrel leaders in this case) blows? Since you are able to judge on whether this is a stupid thread, you should look at the meaning of stupid. . .there you will find yourself! Never judge people you know NOTHING about! Well, since you are so apt to defend the government position and looking at the way you write, you may as well be one of the hired and paid bloggers of Bankole, Aso Rock and the band wagon of jesters who. . .like the ostrich. . .buries its head in the sand, what happens to the rest of the body? |
becoomrich:This goes off topic, but seeing the map above, I pictured taking the moment (clockwise and counter-clockwise) about the structure and it seems it will still have serious equilibrium problems until Nigeria's foundational problems are resolved. It will NEVER be a stable entity, both from a political and 'physics' standpoint! |
Please wake me up when we reach MINUS 1.2M bpd! When will MEND package some powerful 'akara' to Aso Rock, National Assembly, Yaradua, Obasanjo, Jonathan, Ibori, Ogbulafor, IBB, Odili, Imoke, Bankole and the hordes of thieving bastards making every effort to ruin that nation and perpetuate poverty in such a rich country? |
debosky:@Debosky. . . Yes, I agree it depends on where you are actually. However, my comment was more about the ones that pre-judge and really have the usual stereotypical views which are informed not necessarily by their own personal experience. . .but what they have heard from a friend or what they have read in the news. For example, someone hears how a lady, say in Australia, was scammed by a Nigerian guy. . .even without reading or reflecting on the details. . .forms an opinion. . .it sounds weird but it is so real. |
@ Tpiah. . . tpiah:I should point out that the issue is not with the browser itself. . .and I use multiple browsers at home and at work. This issue comes-up at work because of access restrictions that have been placed on such websites. . .remember that most big organizations run enterprise networks that have all kinds of 'toys' to monitor and control everything that happens on the network. Having worked with those toys for a long while. . .I am in no doubt as to what is happening but what can be done about it when I know the kind of news that is coming out of Nigeria? Sometimes, we may think that these people don't care or don't know but the reality is they know a LOT of the current issues and unfortunately, what they HEAR and SEE is BAD news! At home, of course, everything runs fine. . .so since I noticed that access was blocked to Nigerian sites (e.g. Nigeriaworld.com), I just wait till I get home before accessing any such site. Well, as for the ladies thing. . .though I know all kinds of crazy things happen in the dating arena, I am specifically referring to people who have not necessarily dated a Nigerian guy but they hear 'stories'. . .which they may not care to verify or just conclude based on the stereotypes that has come to live in their heads. However, there are still a lot of others who will not pre-judge solely on that issue. |
Poster. . . You are not alone in your experience. . .Naija is worse than a NO NAME brand: 1. Last time I purchased a ticket on Emirates to Nigeria, they wouldn`t accept a credit card payment. . .you know why! 2. If I typed any URL into your browser that has `NIGERIA` as part of the website name, it is blocked from my computer (even a newspaper website). I know what happened but who do you question about it? Another crazy one: 3. You even meet a nice lady and she`s so into you. . .drop the name Naija. . .and she`s gone. . .LOL (Well, some will go but NOT all will just because of that). If you`ve got a real foreign accent, they may not believe it. . .and even ask if you are serious. . .like asking you: `Really. . .?`. Some people may say `na today`, `no biggie`, etc. . .wait until it happens to you personally and see how the easiest things in the world for others become so difficult for you because you are from Naija! Well, if you are going anywhere, better carry your foreign passport until you get to Nigeria`s border, where they have no choice than to accept the passport (yawa document ) but Naija passport for most countries only attract NEGATIVE attention! Imagine you are the only person the German Shephard dogs are sniffing even when you no even carry fish or bush meat! . |
Will ANY human being see this video or even contemplate the contents of this video and still make utterly FOOLISH and STUPID comments justifying the barbarism on display here? This is a SAD country! |
ammamat:@ Ammamat. . . I know this could be very tough for someone who meant well in a relationship but how do you expect this guy to be the same after such a heart-wrenching break-up? Well, it is up to the poster to make his decision but one thing is certain: these relationship scenarios thrown up by women only turn men into 'monsters'. . .and everyone knows what a 'monster' will do sooner or later. |
@Angel. . . Your sister, even you , can meet Naija guys anywhere: Naija, where they are plentiful and 'manufactured' to 'perfection' lol, Canada, US, UK, even the most remote places on earth, you can be sure there is a Naija guy there!Well, there are so many good things to find in a 'correct' Naija guy . Make I no list am now , but hey, if you ladies are heading north of the border (it's summer anyway). . . then holla because they plenty for here o but I go recommend only the 'correct' ones to your sister! Guarantee infinitum! ![]() |
Fantastic exchange just before the half time! Naija is playing much better, if I am not dreaming oo! ![]() |
If MEND pulled this off without letting them know, it would have been a GAMECHANGER for Nigeria! Kai. . .how did they publicize their plan until the thieves got an idea of what was in the offing? You bet some of the thieves will now start randomly avoiding their normal sessions (yet getting paid and stealing money) if they know their violent end is at the door! @Blackspade. . .good plan! I hope MEND does just that. . .they should also get them a bit comfortable in the ND so the intensity of the JTF hunt can mellow down a bit. Then, using the element of surprise. . .set off at least three powerful bombs activated remotely by phone, satellite or timing at Aso Rock, National Assembly and the military base at Camp 5. Hopefully, maximum damage is effected on all the high level targets in Aso Rock, NA and a complete destruction of the military camp, and then they can all vaporize so any hunt for them is just a wild goose chase. . .they can bank on 'being back for more of the action' in future. Then, civil society can up their pressure on the useless ruling cabal with even more strikes and demonstrations by regular Nigerians. That will be a real game-changer and the lesson will be clear: time for a change has really come, either peacefully or violently! Nigeria cannot just continue on this path of destruction! |
Let Yaradua face the fact: he wished to meet with Obama in America and would have been super glad if Obama had come to Nigeria. Well, Obama chooses not to mingle with low-lifers and goes to Ghana, yet Yar'dull cannot sleep. Perhaps he can arrange to go and meet Obama in Ghana by force? Then, he can also go with the JTF and Okiro Police and ensure that no other Nigerian meets Obama except him! It is not difficult to know if a man, even a president is brainless! Did anyone remember Yar'adua saying at his last interview that no president has called him to say they are scared stiff to come to Nigeria? That is a most stupid and brainless statement to make by Yaradua if he expects any president to call him before avoiding Nigeria and snubbing him. You can't blame the stupid man because he has never seen a travel advisory on any website before! He thinks every president is joking around pretending to be running a country (and still claiming to have provided 5000MW only if there was gas to power it) when it is clear, even to a toddler, that he is doing NOTHING? |
^^^^^When a man points his finger at one person (some people), he is usually too stupid to realize that the other four are pointing at himself. . .you are 4 times the dumbo you think others are! |
I was reading the thread - Re: Mend Should Blow Off The Oil - and after my contribution I wanted to add this idea but thought to make a new thread for it. . . ======== Can MEND find a way to take their bombs to Abuja where it is really needed? IEDs are so necessary to change the balance of the game and Nigerian madness since oil was discovered and since the stranglehold of corruption and taking easy money got a hold on Nigerian leadership. While Yar'adua and his team of killer JTF zombies are planning another genocidal attack in the ND or anywhere in Nigeria, a couple of powerful bombs suddenly go off in Aso Rock, the Senate and important government buildings all in Abuja. Some of the soldiers, zombies without any real sense, rushing to take on the 'militants' run into IEDs, Bode George, Anenih, Andoakaa, Waziri, Jonathan Goodluck, Turai Yaradua, IBB, Obasanjo, Bankole, Ogbulafor, Oyinlola, Akala, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Okiro, Imoke, Ibori, Odili, David Mark, etc while at their 'keeping it in the family' business of evil and corruption and driving to the said meeting run into IEDs or get blown into oblivion. . .with little collateral damage in the form of everyday Nigerians. . what a great news day that will be! Imagine all the JTF killings going on in the ND being called off immediately as now the 'government' will now have to fight an invisible enemy on its own turf! This may not be the 'best' way to revolutionize Nigeria but the next corrupt governor, president, EFCC chairman, minister, senator. . .will have seen a sample of what lies ahead. . .and this will give the civil society another one-up to mount pressure on the ruling cabals it is time to do what is right for Nigeria! Let everyone work for a honest and decent day's wage, spend 'OUR' money on the human and infrastructural development projects desperately needed in the respective states. . .elect a true leader with a real brain who can inspire the country to greatness and see the LOT of Nigeria change in a few years! Hoping and begging our thieving leaders to change has not worked and will not work for as long as they get away with it! It is not that I like to advocate violence but let's face it, the corrupt ruling cabal in Nigeria has and will deploy extreme force and violence to protect their stolen billions and perpetuate themselves in power to our detriment, why should they expect to be treated differently? Your thoughts? |
If it were possible to actually 'blow' away the oil so that there is no more oil to sell, steal, bunker, destroy the environment, etc. . .that will be really great! Once, the 'eye' of the government that has no brains / refuses to use their brains to plan and truly move the country forward clears. . .Nigeria will, at least, have another chance to make progress! |
^^^^^ I have no doubt you are severely incapacitated in your ability to use any of your few remaining brain cells, even at a most basic level. What a disaster of a human cadaver! Worse, you mentioned that you are the president of a Nigerian association in your enclave? YOU, your ilk of bigots and blind tribalists are the reason why NIGERIA is covered in SHAME all over the world today! Is it too hard to learn with all the years you have wasted on earth that viewing NIGERIA with a parochial mirror of tribe is ONE of the biggest reasons we CANNOT make progress? Imagine if Nigeria were all your own family and your only preoccupation is to always use your narrow mindedness to view and analyze ever issue, when is the family going to ever make progress? You should bury your poor head in shame, same as the people who glorify tribe while neglecting the main issues. You're a disappointment of a human being and you need to change for your own good and the good of your children and children's children! |
^^^^ Please let us not distract the thread. The information and posts on Nairaland, like Youtube, may have come to stay 'forever'! @Ikeymann. . .gracious of you to respond that way. My post has been modified. |
^^^^ You nailed it right! The poster, apparently, has a set mind and not really looking for open-minded discussion. Anyone who has been paying attention to Nigerian politics and politicians in and out of the country is so on-top of the issues. . .it is difficult to pull wool over their eyes! |
Anyone paying attention will easily see that Farida Waziri is acting out a script here. . .more like a drowning man clutching at a straw. She came on Channels to make this allegation more because she, in concert with the machinery of the corrupt federal government, are trying desperately to put a dent on Ribadu so as to take winds out of his sail before his address/participation billed for May 29, 2009 (Democracy Day) at the London Metropolitan University. I hope Nigerians are looking beyond their nose and not falling for this sucker hook, line and sinker! |
The most important question I have and it will do this debate some good is. Is it possible the be within the sovereign Nation Nigeria . . . with the Army maintaining the territorial integrity of all our country and yet you want to have natural resources in your backyard all to yourself. (take note of the word Natural resources, it means that your forefathers did not plant those resources). @Oyb_MEND. . . I am assuming you meant this a serious question, hence my response: The answer is a resounding YES! With the barrage of information sources available to us these days, you would have known that Canada, US and several other countries also have oil but I will focus on these two: Canada (majorly) and US (passing reference). The US has oil reserves and oil fields Texas, Alaska, Louisiana, Kansas, Michigan, Pennsylvania, etc and yet the US Army maintains the territorial integrity of their country. Till date, oil is being prospected in some of the other states and I think I read about North Dakota not too long ago as one of such places. In Canada, there is oil in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Newfoundland and Ontario and even if I cannot speak authoritatively about any one of these, I can speak about the Alberta Oil Sands. The forefathers did not plant the oil there, yet the Canadian Forces oversee the national integrity of the country. However, note that these two countries run a true federal government and not the caricature federalism Nigerian ruling elites have foisted on its people. The oil does not belong to the whole country in the sense that Nigerian leadership must steal the resources of the area and leave them high and dry. That is wickedness and it is not done in other places of the world. It's funny that Nigeria copied a system of government only half-way where it suited and protected their selfish interests but not all the way where fairness and justice is guaranteed for all. |
Good discussion going on here. . .but please don't type in all CAPITALS. . .it is considered shouting and being rude to those you are communicating with. To your 6-point suggestion, all the Nigerian State has to do is to implement (2) - True Federalism - ceding total control of ALL the resources of each state entirely to its people and it's government. That will quickly birth all the rest - resource control, infrastructural development, human capital development and immediate end of the ND conflict. But it will do more: it will encourage HEALTHY competition among the states of Nigeria and each state will strive harder to develop their states and provide a better life for their people. States with stupid and visionless governments will quickly be left behind while the serious ones move ahead. This will create a lot of problem for those useless governors as their people will come after them and force them out or make them perform. Meanwhile, Nigerians who are mostly productive and smart will move to progressive states and help to further build it with their skills and knowledge. Nigerians who live abroad and foreign companies will, in time, move and relocate their businesses to those progressive states where there is power, security, good roads, good recreation opportunities, good healthcare and a responsive and cutting-edge government. In a few years, all the different states would have signed mutual agreements with other states on issues they wish to cooperate like healthcare where anyone from the cooperating states will get good and "free" healthcare among signatory states, intelligence-sharing, trade agreements, etc. Any of the unproductive states will be left behind and Nigeria will be effectively strong and a great country it was again! The Federal government will have limited responsibilities which it can shoulder more effectively: protecting the integrity of the national boundary, representing the country at international agencies / conference / meetings, collecting taxes from all the states and ensuring that no state cheats it out of the taxes. With these and more happening, watch how Nigeria's image in the world will change so drastically that Nigerians and foreigners will start applying for visas to relocate and visit our country. Imagine that only 1 Million Nigerians and foreigners visit Nigeria in one year and they all spend $1,000 dollars while here, that is $1 B that goes into the pockets of regular everyday Nigerians, talk less of the airlines who will be kept ever so busy ferrying people in and out year round! I could go on and on! |
Now, considering all those HUGE figures (yet with a lot of underground stealing) are OIL MONEY from the Niger Delta, how appalling it must be for the marginalized and poor people of that area and most parts of Nigeria who work so hard to make less than $2 dollars a day or try so hard to get a job but cannot or try so hard to start and run a business but that also fails! You would think for all the money mentioned here, the subjects are engaged in so much high level, intellectual process that adds value to a raw material or process by production, hence they earn so much but sadly, that is not even remotely the case! Nigeria needs such a radical revolution otherwise, DOOM is so unavoidable! |
@Post. . . A rejoinder to Joshua Ocheja has been posted on SaharaReporters and I agree mostly with the comments of the respondent: Hello SaharaReporters: Permit me to write a rejoinder to the fellow Joshua Ocheja on the topic Re: Yar'adua's Midterm Report Card-Sahara Reporters as published on your website on May 24, 2009. For starters, let me state that I have neither been asked by SaharaReporters (SR) or any of their agents to write this piece nor have I any personal interests in the said organization. This is, essentially, my personal opinion which may or may not be shared by others, to each his opinion. The tone of your write-up lacked any objectivity as you were really desperate to communicate your irritation, by the truth portrayed by the report, to SR and their readers. The same measure of name-calling and attacks is what you deserve for the measure you mete out to others shall you receive. Apparently, you are incapable of objectivity in your reasoning and hence, your write-up is what it is: an embarrassing joke. Did you have the sense or decency to propose an alternate score card for your failure president Yar'adua? No, but the very spot-on assessment by SR is unacceptable to you because it does not suck-up to Yar'adua, like his coterie of sycophants and hangers-on are wont to do, with shouts of "ranka da de!"? What value have you added to the very necessary subject of discussion broached by SR? Zero! Nada! Zip! You should be ashamed of yourself for whatever education or enlightenment you think you have is a waste - go back and request for a refund of your time and school fees! Rather than addressing the issue of the failure of the student president, or asking some introspective questions or making an alternative proposal assessing this sleeping administration, you shifted grounds and asked a dumb and irrelevant question: "What is the problem with SaharaReporters?" There is no problem with SaharaReporters! Rather, what is the problem with Joshua Ocheja, the blind defender who is incapable of any rational thought and progressive ideas regarding an issue of discussion germane to the progress of Nigeria today: Yar'adua! Or, do you presume that everyone is a "follow-follow" zombie like you without any capacity for independent and sound thinking? The whole rejoinder is here: http://www.saharareporters.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2840:reyaraduas-midterm-report-card-sahara-reporters-a-rejoinder-to-joshua-ocheja&catid=81:external-contrib&Itemid=300 |
@Biina. . . Setting-up another unnecessary, unprofitable back-and-forth argument? I am not interested in being drawn into a time-wasting banter but it is clear to anyone with the ability to reason that Dokubo was "reporting" an exchange and he is saying it LOUD: Yar'adua and the others listed talked to MEND. If you are their spokesman and defender, that is your cup of tea but I need no consultation / advise from you to make a thread or choose its topic. Do not distract the thread with your grand-standing, I-big-pass-you and over-sabi arguments. |
The only thing Nigerians fight for everyday is how many igbos, Yorubas, hausas, ijaws etc in this and that office and not how many qualified people there. I am sure that there will be quota system in Nigerian hell for those that will head there.
Thank you for stating it so plainly! Unfortunately, some people with all their education and enlightenment, fail to see that Nigeria and Nigerians are only playing a LOSING game with sectarian, tribalistic and ethnocentric reasoning! Even if all Nigerians do everything else within their power to make progress but with tribalism, all those efforts are dead on arrival. The saying "United we stand, divided we fall" has no respect for race, tribe or creed! Look at our history, our present with tribalism and you need not be a soothsayer or have a crystal ball to predict the future of Nigeria. |
The posting could be done by Non-Nigerians and Nigerians alike on the BBC website as provided by the poster. Perhaps, a lot of Non-Nigerians and people who do not have any stake in Nigeria have little or no motivation to post hence, most of the comments made are by Nigerians. |
When Nigeria and Nigerians begin and continue to think as NIGERIANS and not TRIBES or SECTIONS, then we WILL make meaningful PROGRESS as a country. Until then, the country and every Nigerian is on a losing streak. |
biina:@Biina. . . Apparently, you fancy yourself as being able to decide who read this article and who did not, and that this was supposed to be some attention-seeking or controversial post, which of course, is not. If anyone doesn't understand the article, it may have been you because: 1. The thread topic is essentially from the actual interview itself and not from my personal inference and Dokubo stated that Yar'adua talked to the man he attacked. So, it is wrong to say the post is sensational, get an understanding of the entire interview. . .no one is falling for anything here because there is nothing to fall for! 2. Neither you nor I were privy to the events mentioned here and the interviewee (Dokubo) employed "reported speech" by putting out the things he was told by Tompolo. The statements he made in this interview are not a "secret" and he did not say them quietly in his room, so if Yar'adua or his agents have a defence to make against these allegations, why not wait for them to man-up and make their defense? |
