I was educated on the extreme diversity of the North by my gateman 3 years ago. I called him abokii one day and he humbly corrected me that he is not Hausa, he called the name of one tribe in Taraba State where he is from. But Northerners no blame us ooo, Y'all speak the same language Shuuuuu.... NL don de redflag abokii? |
Nigerian students shine in Dubai by Gbenga Ojo, October 20, 2016 at 12:00 am STUDENTS of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) in Delta State, put up a remarkable performance at the just-ended yearly Technical Conference and Exhibition – PetroBowl competition – at the World Trade Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirate (UAE). It was organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). Five universities won tickets to represent Nigeria at the African regional contest held last March, at the University of Benin (UNIBEN). Of the five, only FUPRE, Niger Delta University (NDU), and Igbinedion University, Okada, made it to the event through sponsorship. Delta State University (DELSU) and Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) could not make it. Thirty-two universities participated in the global contest. FUPRE got to “Elite 8” by defeating two world-class universities – University of Manchester in the United Kingdom (UK) and University of Houston in the United States (U.S.). the institution eventually emerged the fifth Best Petroleum University in the world. Petro Bowl Competition, initiated in 2002, is a platform for student-chapters of SPE to exchange ideas on latest techniques in the petroleum industry. They are asked technical and non-technical questions about oil exploration and best practice. FUPRE has represented Africa three times. In 2014, it emerged African champion in the regional contest, and represented Africa at the World Petro Bowl in Amsterdam, Netherland. Also last year, FUPRE represented Africa at the global contest held in Houston, Texas. The team leader, Stephen Ibrahim, a 500-Level student of the Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, told CAMPUSLIFE that his team members gave their best performance and brought their experience to bear in the contest. Coming fifth in the contest, he said, would give the team a leverage to review its performance and come out stronger in future contests. A member of the team, Bilau Adeniran, also in 500-Level Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, said he was proud of the team’s achievement. He said: “I show my deepest gratitude to Almighty Allah for everything. I am proud of my team. The competition did not give us victory only but also made us a family.” SPE is the largest individual-member organisation of serving managers, engineers, scientists and other professionals in the upstream segment of the oil and gas industry, with more than 168,000 members in 144 countries. The Society has 368-student chapters across the world. http://thenationonlineng.net/nigerian-students-shine-dubai/ |
blackprowler: Easy guy, I feel you. I follow up on shell eco-maraton, where energy efficient vehicles are produced and the most energy efficient car(actually a tricycle) can actually accommodate one person and truth be told, you were correct when you mentioned "carry 3 human beings" because the weight differential would be better a nightmare for the said tricycle and how much energy does say two solar panels transmit to how many batteries. What got me laughing was the no engine part, haba! What moves the tires then, how would you change gears? WiFi or Bluetooth? ![]() I believe a friend of the guy or his relation who doesn't understand the workings of engineering put up this thread here as as a publicity stunt...... But unfortunately for them, we have thinkers here. |
shamecurls:My thoughts exactly, and I seriously have doubts that student did that project alone. Either way, nice innovation. Proud futo alumni |
I kinda like what this dude did. ![]() |
Has the world gone mad? What is dis? ![]() |
Guy thank God say the thing no explode for the middle pocket(you know? Center of Gravity). Na service of songs we for dey plan now. |
@OP, I am so disappointed. I used to be a fan of yours, I follow very few people on nairaland, cos I chose sensible people only. Your posts here used to be engaging and intelligent, but for this particular post, it's clear something terrible has destroyed your sense of reasoning(I mean no insult). Check yourself, and retrace your steps before it's late, advice no be curse. BTW, I just unfollowed you. I know you will care less anyway. |
Praise the Lord!!! Finally, Nigeria can now breathe a sigh of relief. |
tosyno1990:Thanks for the information. |
I had an uncle who studied this course in the UK, he is late now. I'm surprised to hear that it's been offered here in Nigeria. I would like to know the universities that offer this course. |
crisycent: NIGHTMAREOO7:Y'all puking and calling human beings like yourself pigs makes me wonder what extraordinary things you have done with your lives. SMH |
vivalavida: in fact I no comeback this December again. ![]() |

Forget about the long story, the man is just insecure. Inferiority Complex is a serious psychological disorder. If you like change the number 7 days a week, person wey go cheat go cheat. |
Chelsea ndo oooo this is f**king hilarious. I'm opening an account with access bank tomorrow morning.... . Damn!!! ROTFLWKMD ![]() @vivalavida get in here bro. ![]() |
This government should sale Aso Rock and the National Assembly Complex. Mtcheeeew! Nonsense! Clueless, unserious, fo*lish, zero brain government. So putting national assets for sale is the solution for the mess Nigeria is in now, as a result of useless policies that the same government put up in the 1st place? And they used dangote to sale it 1st so it won't be like it was the government's idea and APC zombies have jumped into the bandwagon. |
Liar Muhammed on the move again .....smh.. .. APC, God dey watch una |
This is just scary |
9jalyte:God bless you plenty plenty for this assessment, these zombies believe all Nigerians are dullards like themselves. Obasanjo inheriting $3billion in the federal reserve and buhari inheriting $30billion comes to mind. |
When will you zombies ever learn? Always playing the blame game. OK, what have your president achieved with what he has?
|
HtwoOw:Interesting analysis, but I'll leave the attached picture for you to ponder on. AND the list of this government's incompetence goes on and on. Imagine a minister for state of agriculture saying that rice will get to #40,000 a bag and his oga who earlier wanted this country to import grass from Brazil instead of food for human beings to eat, opened his mouth to say "Nigerians eat too much rice, that's why it's expensive". Clueless government.
|
Braden102:now I'm hooked, been seeing this type of building designs lately, and I must say they look simple, neat and nice. What's the average cost of building something like this with the OPs description /taste? I'm kinda thinking in that angle right now. |
This man should be speedily rushed to a psychiatric institution especially that for the chronically mad. HABA! !! |
