The commentary on NTA is so insipid. I just got bored with it and decided to watch from Arabic speaking channel. At least the commentary is flowing even though I don't understand Arabic. After how many years of football we are still stuck with this kind of commentary. Na wa o!
Hhm, commentaries where you hear things like "chester", "longish pass" and "number 3 shirted" |
I think some of these financially successful ladies need to maybe change or broaden their circle of friends. I noticed a trend recently which sort of formed this opinion. I realized that a number of financially independent ladies who finally got married after waiting almost endlessly, got married to guys they knew from many years before; probably in secondary school or university, or in the neighbourhood they grew up in. These are guys who knew them before they started earning the fat salaries. Guys who know their true person and not some perceived diva status. In some cases, even when the guy is obviously earning less than they are, it didn't pose a problem because the guy knows where they are coming from and appreciates and respects the fact that they've made something positive of their lives over time. The really key in these cases being accessibility because there was an existing relationship. So maybe these ladies need to get outside of their usual circle of friends who hangout at only the poshest of locations and mingle more with people who are not necessarily in your "social status". Let these people get to know the real you. It won't de-rep you or cheapen you. This also applies to guys who say there are no good girls out there. There are, you are just not searching in the right crowd. |
ikennahill: keshi have been a biz man, lucky for him his luck is still shining, but one day it might stop.he is the kind of leader that listen to gossip and does not want to hear from opposing view.too badAnd you know this how? Were you a former team mate to Keshi, or are you a Super Eagles player or invitee? Or did you also gather this from unfounded gossip? Please, let's leave all this talk and let the man do his job whichever way suits him. After all, if he is sacked he suffers it alone. |
Akiika: But, this Naija attitude of suck to my behind because i'm your coach or boss will not let us see that. This is how Odemwingie has been excluded from the team, he wasn't raised in the Nigerian sycophancy way....so he'll naturally rebel. Is Sir Alex a Nigerian? Etim Esin, Amokachi and even Keshi were rebels, and they were born in Naija. |
phreakabit: We have a lot of below average players in the squad (I can name them if required). I am glad we get to play a full strength Italy team. Our frailty will be well exposed. Can anyone of Nsofor or the useless Shola Ameobi be a successful/sensible/ meaningful replacement for Emenike if suspended or injured? Dike might be useful, but should be third or fourth choice. The fact remains, we have a very thin team quality wise. This is the world cup we are talking of not the nations cup. We struggle against sides like Ethiopia and Burkina Faso and people keep overlooking the signs. . . . Its time we be proactive rather than the usual reactive.I quite agree with you that we have a thin squad quality wise, but I don't see any of the players you mentioned bringing in that quality. We didn't just start struggling against the likes of Ethiopia under Keshi. The likes of Uche, Osaze and co where in the team when we were labelled "Super Chickens" @ AFCON 2008 in Ghana, they were there when we failed to qualify for AFCON 2012. Will they guarantee a great performance against Italy? I doubt it. Let the coach do what he believes is best for his team, if he fails, he'll get the boot. I've stopped putting my hopes in names as far as the Super Eagles are concerned. They've raise our hopes and failed us too many times. |
phreakabit: So old and washed up Shola Ameobi, Nsofor, unpolished Uche Nwafor and Oduamadi are better than Ike Uche? Why isn't haruna in the team?Haba, must it always be about taking bribe? Eric Cantona and David Ginola were not picked for France 98 despite pressure on the coach to do so simply because of their attitude. Even Nicolas Anelka has suffered the same fate recently. An Argentine coach (Bielsa, I think) dropped Claudio Cannigia simply because he refused to cut his hair. Alex Ferguson sold Beckham because he felt he was no longer focused on football but stardom. Every coach has his style and philosophy and no matter how talented you are you won't play for them if you don't conform. It is obvious Keshi has a defined work ethic he wants from his players and he will not sacrifice it on the table of talent alone. Not every coach can stomach Balotelli's excesses for instance. |
The truth is every coach has his own philosophy of how he wants his team to play and the on and off-field team dynamics and work ethics he expects. Not every player will conform and as such there will be friction. No matter how talented a player is, if he doesn't conform to the coaches philosophy he will most likely not get regular call-ups or playing time. It's nothing new really. Waiting to hear what Uche has to say about this though. I bet a rejoinder won't be long in coming. |
tjpoet: You all do not need to argue over this, such policy aint gonna last. Fashola-Opeifa love Lagos so much and they want so many things to work but there are things that cannot work the way they want it to work. A poor man like comfort too; no one likes to be stressed but all these policies are created to make life difficult for the poor so that the rich ones can be safe and happy.Eh, at the bolded; in many ways the rent policy is gradually becoming effective because folks looking for apartments are now beginning to seek for houses where they can pay only for a year. Even property agents are now advising landlords to collect a year's rent if they want to get tenants quickly. About this time last year I was also house hunting and after some initial gra gra from the landlord on paying 2yrs, he later reduced to a year and a half then eventually sttled for a years rent. Pronto, three apartments where immediately rented. The greater law of demand and supply took its course without the government having to arrest any landlord. You can visit the property section, people are looking for apartments where they can pay for a year. Sometimes, the people have to make the laws work, not the government. |
Here we go again! Nairalanders blowing hot and cold over a non-issue. Most danfo drivers already practice this, albeit informally. The only difference is that they don't use hours but round-trips, which they popularly call "go-come." Hardly will you find a danfo driver that works non-stop from morning to night. They usually work shifts, especially those who commute shorter distances. On the average 5-10 round-trips is what most do. The guy who comes out at 5AM usually does a number of trips till rush hour is over at about 11AM-12 noon, then hands over to someone else. He may however resume again at 4PM and work till late, and that is if he is a real serious hustler. Many just chill out at the park drinking and smoking or go home to sleep. Others exchange driving for agbero work later in the day. The bigger buses like "LT", Coaster, Molue and co who travel much farther distances i.e. CMS to Ikorodu, Egbeda to Obalende, Race Course to Mile 2 etc have at least 30mins to an hour break per trip just waiting their turn to pick up passengers. What I would like to know is how LASG wants to monitor their hours of work. I'd like to know what technology or method they want to apply. But in truth, all this unnecessary brouhaha over almost every LASG policy can be over-rated sometimes. |
We really need a big win against these Ethiopians. Let's rub it in their faces. To think they are actually dreaming of the world cup. Mtschewww... |
If only some folks would read with understanding then they would realize that the op is being mischievous with this topic. Ban indeed. The mods should trash this crap or give it a more sensible title. |
swedbase: Thats hypocritical yorubas for youI can't understand how you and gratieo will compare a case where 12 people are already facing trial with the Oduah-NCAA scandal. Has the EFCC even taken a single step into the matter? |
This fraud happened in Oyo and nobody is crying blue murder • The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Tuesday, disclosed that suspects in the alleged N5.6 billion scam in Oyo State will be arraigned tomorrow. 12 people have been arraigned in court for this crime. Maybe we will keep quiet when the same happens in this bulletproof cars aviation scandal. At least we would know that the law is taking its course. |
From some of the comments here, it is clear that many do not understand mental health. Now, except there is some other reason why she is being kept in "confinement", if it is mental health issues, she can be kept at home depending on the type of mental illness. Psychiatric hospitals actually have out-patients who just come to receive their medication and see the doctor on scheduled days. If there is a doctor that checks on her regularly and a nurse to administer her drug as at when due, hospitalization may |
0monnakoda: They are over 17 mostly. I would say the average age of that team is close to 19- 20 but this is not as bad as previously. They are a promising bunch and I hope they can move into a professiona club set-up quickly. I am sure some will already have been noticed by top clubs. Under 17 competition is not as important in Europe an I guess that is why we did not see much of Fabregas and Ramsey etc at that level. Bendtner played his first game for Arsenal at 17 so these guys need to be with clubs if they are going to make progressFabregas played U17 at Finland 2003. The name on his jersey then was Cesc. Won't be surprised if the other guys you mentioned played at the European youth tourneys. They actually have more youth tourneys in Europe than we do in Africa. |
striker9: Alampasu and Mohammed are obviously over 17yrs old,the rest are kids. The team needed experienced players, which is why Mohammed and Alampasu had more work rate than any other player[my own point of view].The Mohammed guy no dey tire at all,but I'm happy we have started playing real soccer with young talented players.I think the reason we hold some of these erroneous notions is because school sports is practically dead in Nigeria. When I was in Secondary School we had 15 year olds in SS1 who played 90mins at a very brisk pace. How old was Owen or even Messi when they started playing full 90mins? Or are we now saying Caucasians are more atheletic than Africans? |
duni04: Isn't it rather ironic that African countries keep winning these youth competitions over and over again and yet have never been able to replicate these victories at the senior level? Same reason why these players fizzle into obscurity shortly after winning these competitions. Its cos they're old! Let's not all forget what Partizan belgrade said about Taribo west's age. The main reason for these youth competitions is to raise and identify future talent and not the trophies. Its a concept Africans are yet to understand. So while the rest of the world continues using these competitions to build future teams that will be successful later on, we can continue winning them with old men that will surely fizzle out in a few years.I keep hearing this argument and its so mute. Argentina have won the U20 tourney severally in the last decade and even won Olympic gold in 2008, yet the last timee they won the world cup was with Maradona in 1986. I'M guessing Argentina have been cheating too, and Messi, Aguero, Juninho, Tevez and co are all over-aged too. This is Mexico's 3rd U17 final in just 8yrs. I'm guessing they shld win the next two world cups by your assertion. Football isn't mathematics. |
