Hahaha, you fell into it headlong several posts ago. Your grandparents joke indeed. You seriously think that would give you a soft landing, right? So, it was your grandparents that came to the conclusion that I'm Yoruba, right? Keep telling yourself that and you just might believe it.

BasketMouth has apologised for his gaffe, you can remain here defending what cannot be reasonably defended. I'm through with you.

aux409: lolz! Very funny joke! U shldnt be alive for cracking this funny kind of joke! My grand parents once told me a very funny joke that tribalist like u wwuld end up been raped buy randy camels! He said it and it was so funny that my local dog had to go and rape the nxt door yoruba girl who happened to be the sister of one faceless dabossman on nairaland. Lolz! Lolz!! Lolz!!! Funny joke
There you go again. I've just painted an example of what could be considered an expensive and tasteless joke and you took offence as is evident by you calling me a "tribalist" when you don't even know if I'm Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba. That is the exact effect Basket Mouth's tasteless joke had on people who don't think rape is a laughing matter.

Not every joke is funny after all. Even comedians need to be socially and politically correct. i bet if a Caucasian called you "black monkey" as a joke you wouldn't be laughing at the punchline either. Oya, call me racist. I just might be white.

aux409: one question: are u a victim of R..PE?
I'll answer you on a more serious note. Thankfully, no! However, because of my line of work I have met victims, and some are just children. It can destroy a woman and scar her for life. It can send her to an early grave if not properly managed. Bro, pray it never happens to anyone you know or care about, cos you won't think it's funny.

That's my final word to you..., on a serious note.

Can't even believe some peeps are asking what was wrong with the joke. I;m not one to advocate for the cancellation of his endorsement deals but that joke was so wrong on many levels. So some off you seriously think that everyone would consider it just a joke and would not see it as a dating code of conduct. If the girl no gree after movies, chinese and so on, r.ape her. so, what happens if some guys decide to fast forward the r.ape to 2nd date and it's your sister or daughter he took to the movies or Mr. Biggs? It's so agonizingly hard to be a Man Utd fan at the moment, but I'll never stop supporting my team.

I don't think Moyes will be fired either, at least not midway into the end of the season. They may reconsider if it's an extremely woeful season, like say finishing in the lower half of the log.

Drogba has no business in the top 3; not for 2013. Yahaya, yes for his club and country during the world cup qualifiers and of course Mikel for his performance in the Afcon win, the Europa League win, world cup qualifiers and confed cup.

I do believe Enyeama should have been in there too. It seems Caf has no regard for its flagship tourney and euro league performance is more important.

homesteady: Did you not see her tweet?
Yea! That's true! You have a point! They should tolerate her until she sleeps with all the pastors, and share all her nude pictures to the church members!
I'm not one for shutting the house of God against anyone because you do not know what day or what message will convert the one that is called a sinner. I'm sure even you did not give your life to Christ the very first day you stepped in church or have been perfect since. I remember witnessing a young lady turned back at the gates of Deeper Life Church in Gbagada way back in the early 90's simply because she had earrings on and wore make-up. I felt so bad because for all you know that may have been a broken soul seeking refuge being turned back by mortal men who think they know more than God.

You have asked severally if the churches others attend is a den of prostitutes and robbers, but how do you know there are no robbers or prostitutes in your own church? Or can you truly vouch for every single member of your church? Do you know what they are up to everyday of the week when they are not in church shouting "praise God?"

I'm sure no true Christian or church will condone what Cossy does, but is it shutting her out of church that will bring about her conversion?

To be honest, I'm not a fan of mobile phones, especially for calls. Like Mandela, I'll say "don't call me, I'll call you...," on my land line. tongue

rhymz: You are q lier, which Nepa charges you 9k every month for 10 days supply.....nigga I live in Lagos too in a 3-bedroom flat apartment, I don't pay 9k as Nepa bills.....I doubt if Egbeda or idimu or iyana ipaja has costlier apartments than surulere where I live, so what's your point.
I'll be the bigger man and not resort to insults. I'll simply state the facts. Nepa rations power in my hood. They have a one day on-one day off load shedding timetable going on. The so-called one day on is barely between 8-10hrs long yet I get a bill of between 8-9K a month. If you find that hard to believe, I'm sorry but I can't help you.

As for the rent issue, Nairaland has a property section. Visit it and see for yourself how much they pay in those neighborhoods.
Business › Re: Confessions Of A Ghana-based Nigerian Youth by dabossman(m): 11:30am On Dec 27, 2013
In my opinion, I don't think the OP is being objective. Ghana-Naija sentiments aside, I don't know what the going rates are in Owerri, but a 3-bedroom flat even in places like Egbeda, Idimu, and Iyana Ipaja already goes for over 300K. Nepa\Phcn or Discos charge me about 9K a month for roughly an accumulated 10 days of electricity, so I'm guessing if I had power 24\7 it would be just as much as the 30K the OP's friend pays monthly in Ghana.

If it's not conducive for the guys business, then I can understand, but the living cost is not different from Naija. Haba, the average Danfo driver probably spends more than N600 daily on feeding at Iya Sidi's joint.

Started reading Jeffrey Archer's False Impression yesterday. I actually bought that book in 2010 along with Dan Brown's Da Vinci code and John Grisham's Playing for Pizza, both of which I read back then. Haven't been reading novels lately because of my busy schedule at work. It's good to know I can still seat back and enjoy a good paperback.

Now my e-books collection, maybe I will get round to that after I retire. The volume is massive.

Thanks to cashless transactions. I saw several of these crazy queues this morning as I tried to get some cash to go shopping with my babe. I just drove on straight to the shopping mall, picked all the items I wanted and paid with the POS machine. Even hospitals, filling stations and churches now have POS.

rudedough: I think we should let the EFCC do their job. What is wrong with investigating a petition? Nigerians and their irrational mentality.

There is a reason why i don't want to have anything to do with that country.
The problem is with the double standards of the EFCC. Where were they when the Oduahgate saga raged. Did they invite the minister for questioning? Did they call on Cosmas Madueke of Coscharis for questioning? That is what makes Nigerians complain. Let justice be fair to all, not lopsided.

That said, everyday for the thief, one day for the owner. If these lawmakers are guilty of any fraud, let them face the consequences. One day it will be time up for other polithiefcians.

Christianity Etc › Re: Christmas Is Idolatrous And Unscriptural - Pastor Kumuyi by dabossman(m): 4:25pm On Dec 23, 2013
engineerd: SO by extension celebrating EASTER is Idolatrous? You might give scriptural references to back EASTER, BUT it seems SADISTIC to only celebrate the death and not life of one of the DIVINITIES of GOD.
I put it to Akpan10 and co. that Jesus never asked us to celebrate, mark or commemorate Easter too. Nowhere in the Bible was Easter mentioned. What Jesus asked us to do was observe communion in memory of His death. And he didn't say it was a particular period. He said "whenever you break bread and drink this wine". Paul even said "as often as you do this" which could be everyday if you so choose.

The same Roman church that instituted Christmas also instituted Easter. So why the double stands? Or can anyone point out the word Easter in the Bible?

Also note that Easter is also very commercialised now. Just google Easter images and you will find more images of the Easter bunny and the Easter egg than you will find of the wooden cross. Should we also scrap Easter for this reason?

Oluwalana64: BIBLICAL PROOF AGAINST CELEBRATING DAY'S.
GAL 4 VS 10-11; Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain. Is dis nt clear enough 4 we CHRISTIANS. Y cnt we read our Bible 4 once. Apart 4 its idolatrous origin-wich is enof 2 disbunkd it,what else do we nid? God is purgin its church 4rm paganism brot in by d Catholics. Its time we obey d Bible line upon line, precept upon precept. We ae nt to mix paganism wit Christainity. Even in Isreal-d Home of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,Christmas is not Celebrated! Once again, I state it openly nd without no equivocation,CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS IS PRACTISING IDOLATORY! Little children, keep thyself 4rm idols. Amen (1 John 5 vs 21)
And I'm guessing when you have to fill forms that ask for your date of birth you write "not applicable". I also trust that you don't have a calendar and never use one, otherwise you might also be guilty of observing days, times and years.
Christianity Etc › Re: Christmas Is Idolatrous And Unscriptural - Pastor Kumuyi by dabossman(m): 3:42pm On Dec 23, 2013
I can tell you categorically that in some ways even Deeper Life Church has done what the Roman Catholic church through Constantin did many many years ago. In the early days of Deeper Life even up to the late 90's, owning and watching TV was considered a sin. The television was labelled the devil's tool and it dare not be found in your home as a true Deeper Lifer. Some who had one hid it in the secrecy of their bedrooms. Even the internet was not spared when it made it's advent into Nigeria.

Today, in Deeper Life the same TV and Internet are being used to propagate the Gospel. They have found a way to turn what was considered evil or pagan to a positive use for Christ. The same way the early church converted a pagan celebration to one that would focus solely on Christ, his prophetic and immaculate birth and the reason why. He came to earth.

If not for Christmas some people, especially children, around the world would never hear the story of Jesus virgin birth in a lowly manger. They would never hear of the wisemen men who brought symbolic gifts or of the attempt on his life by Herod. Or pray tell, how many of you evangelise to the world using the story of Christ's birth as much as Christmas does?
Christianity Etc › Re: Christmas Is Idolatrous And Unscriptural - Pastor Kumuyi by dabossman(m): 3:00pm On Dec 23, 2013
ginaaskia4: I agree with Pastor Kumuyi. Nobody know when christ was born. In many villages, during the celebration of christmas that is when they are involved in difference kinds of idol worship, dancing with their village masks, many people get drunk, some are poison etc. Just because of christmas.
And they don't get involved in these activities during Easter, weddings, baby naming ceremonies, house-warmings and so on. Should we stop celebrating Easter too? Many people go to enjoy themselves at the beach, easter concerts, clubs and beer parlours. Shall we then erase the death of Christ from our memories too?

Yet they have their main service on Sundays. Was it not the same Romans that substituted idol worship with Christmas that substituted Sun worship with Sunday services. I respect Pastor Kumuyi but truth be told, even his name is of pagan origin; "Ikumuyi" as is my pastor's name "Odukoya". Does that make them ungodly?
