May i know why u (nt nigerians pls) hate Jonathan so much. I genuinely wanna know, cos me thinks dat his only crime is being meek to a fault. The guy is just abusing d bible saying " turn d right cheek", n dats why he has almost been slapped to death by evn d weakest of weaklings & lowest of lows in d society.
Bro j is not meek or weak, he just doesnt ask rashly....he is on track, though i woukd want to see him privatise everything

Sweetlemon: Another new tactic from GEJ sycophants! Let me tell you something you guys have refused to get into your skulls. Majority of people complain about GEJ cos of his anti-masses policy. At this stage in Nigeria nobody wants to know if you have "good intentions" all they want to see is CHANGE! They want to see the results, they want electricity, jobs, security, and better living conditions! GEJ should stop chasing after rats while our house is on fire. Let him stop all these petty petty things like University name change and concentrate on how to improve electricity. Even if power supply is the only thing he can do, even if he wants to introduce coconut bread or change Uniport to Patience Ebele Jonathan University, people will still love him! Trust me, it doesn't take much to satisfy an average Nigerian, the reason why people have intensified their criticisms is because we have endured enough pain and we can no longer wait till we are 6 feet under till we learn to say "enough is enough!"
You need more exposure to what is going on...if you are talking a a lay man/woman i can appreciate but if you what more facts on what is being done to change the situation, they can easily be gotten, no pro lem we are facing can be solved with a magic wand, they will take time and money to put in place..

jason123: See your life?! cheesy. Must you run around calling the Yorubas as if they stole your wife? Someone like you should know what it means to include them here, an Igbo thread! You started the whole tribal war on this thread, why?!
Well, this reply is for you. See an Igbo man educating you:
Jason how on earth can we talk about tribal politics in nigeria without bringing in the yorubas....that discussion will not be complete...is what i said fact or not? Yorubas vote with herd mentality, do we also what igbos to start herd mentality voting also?

In 9ja delta we can never vote for a president from an ethnic party, be it igbo or yoruba simple
PoliticsRe: We Own APGA, Northerners Will Determine APGA Leader - Alhaji Sani Shinkafi by DaLover(m): 7:48am On Jun 03, 2012
Onlytruth: Er, I just remembered one more truth about APGA, I mean the ORIGINAL APGA, and it is that APGA was formed to be a national party. In fact one of Chekwas Okories main grievance against Victor Umeh and current APGA leadership is that they could not take the party outside of SE.
This may be what Shinkafi may be alluding to, but with the wrong words.
APGA is supposed to be a national party, but with HEAVY Igbo influence. cool FACT. cool cool cool
The only problem I see in APGA for now, is Victor Umeh and whoever is backing him in APGA.
If it was formed originally as a south east party..it would be difficult to sell it outside the SE...i believe they shouks just remain in the SE, or join another party to form a more national looking party....having a SE base and pretending to be a national party will not fly.
PoliticsRe: We Own APGA, Northerners Will Determine APGA Leader - Alhaji Sani Shinkafi by DaLover(m): 7:14am On Jun 03, 2012
Dede1: Please disregard the treachery of the lagcity, the moronic thread initiator, who stupidly formulated a thread title opposite the remarks made by Alhaji Sani Abdullahi Shinkarfi about the APGA and ownership. APGA was a national party not sectional or tribal party as rightfully stated by Shinkarfi. The title of the thread runs contrary to the facts stated by the national secretary of APGA. By the way, ACN is not a national party. So it is matter of misguided endeavor to put APGA in the same pedigee with a tribal party such as ACN.
While i agree there is mischief in the topic of the post...i think apga was formed as an answer to the ethnic politics of the SW....to me its a big mistake by the SE to go down this path......
On the ground today it may seem the yorubas are reaping the benefits of ethnic politics and herd mentality voting...but if anyone bothers to look at the bigger picture nigeria ia still a backward country....and ethnic political parties playing at the national level have a big role to play in this....
Apga should come out clearly and say what they are...an igbo party has no business contesting for the presidency of this country, a hausa man from kano should not be a member of an igbo party etc
PoliticsRe: We Own APGA, Northerners Will Determine APGA Leader - Alhaji Sani Shinkafi by DaLover(m): 7:01am On Jun 03, 2012
Andro Blaze: Though I frown at ethnic baiting, this is quite a sensible reply to the people who blame "Yoruba" for there inabilty to tie there own shoe laces.

The truth is it is chrystal clear the region that has always followed the Nigerian script without a whimper since 1970, and yet that same region that is not known for anything other than following the status quo feel they have the right to blame Yoruba for all there woes. Every single challenge to the Nigerian staus quo has either arisen from the SW, North and now even the newly emboldened SS. What actually has the SE contributed to steering Nigeria out of the path of doom??

Oh well, let this thread continue, and they continue blaming "Yoruba" for all there woes.
Challenge status quo? How? Your post needs further explanations

This is about APGA and north, so why bring yoruba to this? Phocking ibo bigot!
I did it because the reason why APGA was formed was to imitate what the yorubas are doing....dont forget that the yorubas are the undisputed leaders in ethnic politics...
For example the AG..action group evolved out of a yoruba cultural society.

PoliticsRe: We Own APGA, Northerners Will Determine APGA Leader - Alhaji Sani Shinkafi by DaLover(m): 1:30pm On Jun 02, 2012
Apga is clearly trying to be an igbo party....but how come shinkafi is a member of the party?
It is not a crime to have an ethnic party...but it is a crime when you try to sell an ethnic party as a national party......the greatest mistake igbos will make is to try and behave like yorubas in politics.....it is not their way and can never be their way....they are republican and competitive....this is why the British trusted them the least...
Yorubas in spite of their so called education will vote clannishly for anything with a yoruba stamp....notice that the only time they ever voted for a party with a national spread was when the president was a yoruba..after he left the seat..they quickly returned back to their voting ways...
Apga is an attempt to behave like the yoruba.....but i dont think the igbos can be cowed to vote clannishly.

hillsate: I am beginning to think either the president is bewitched or his advisers are.
Its now i understand why Reuben Abati refused to release an advance copy of Mr president's speech to press men as is the tradition. The president knew the change of the UNILAG name would be met with opposition.
Naming any national edifice after anyone as a mark of honour should be a thing of joy if there are no political undertones to it. Why not name the National stadium, UniAbuja, national Hospital after Abiola.
Why is GEJ always forcing things down our throats without due consultation? Is this a military rule?
Fuel subsidy removal met opposition, Renaming of Unilag met opposition, increase in electricity tariff is meeting opposition. GEJ is so unpopular in the north, he's adding to his unpopularity in the southwest.
Truth is that there is nothing wrong with subsidy removal, renaming of an edifice after anyone as a mark of honour or even increasing electricity tariff if only first things are done first.
if the north put their acts together and de-emphasise religion or regionality as the focus of their campaign and move a step further by putting a christian candidate as the northern candidate, GEJ will stand no chance in 2015.
There is something wrong with GEJ.
Please what are the first things that need to be done firsthuh And how will they be done...Who is really top blame..is it those that want the satus to remain or the person who is trying to inculcate practicality into our very existence? So many people want the good life but delude themselves that it is easy to come by...The easiest things to do is seat down and criticize, ask bola ige...when it comes to practical ways of solving issues a lot of us haven't the faintest clue......

GEJ has his issues, but I will always pick him over Buhari and Ribadu...anytime anyday

PoliticsRe: Jonathan's Plot To Disunite The Southwest by DaLover(m): 11:56am On May 31, 2012
NorthSharp: It is not fair or reasonable for anyone to accuse Yoruba individuals or groups of 'not liking themselves' because they oppose this ill-advised decision, just as it would be unfair and unreasonable for anyone to accuse the Igbos of 'not liking themselves' when they vehemently resist any idea of renaming the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, after ANY Igbo personality!

Zik and Ojukwu were arguably the two greatest Igbo leaders in the history of Nigeria, yet no FG could dare rename the 'University of Nigeria' after either of them, neither at their deaths nor subsequently!

In fact, the Igbos so much cherish the name 'University of Nigeria' that many of them would interpret any suggestion at renaming the university after ANYBODY as being a 'conspiracy' to deny the Igbos the prestige of having the only university in Nigeria that bears that unique name: 'University of Nigeria'.

To a lesser extent, the name 'University of Lagos' also enjoys similar prestige of being the only university that is so uniquely described as the university of Lagos; so apart from its excellent academic reputation, the university also enjoys being so uniquely associated with the most important, most popular, most vibrant city in our country - Lagos.!

So the questions that may come to mind are:

1. If the GEJ govt could not dare rename the UNN after even the GREATEST IGBO personality (Ujukwu) AT HIS DEATH RECENTLY; with all the apparently genuine respect and admiration president GEJ personally has for the late Ikemba as witnessed at the latter's funeral; and with all the brotherly and neighbourly goodwill that apparently exists between GEJ and the Igbos, then how come GEJ found it so imperative at this time to rename UNILAG after MKO Abiola?

2. Why would GEJ want to immortalize the name of the late MKO Abiola with the re-naming of one of the 5 first generation universities in Nigeria after him, yet he could not think of according the same respect and privilege to the late Ikemba, for whom he apparently has even much more respect?

3. Did the FG make proper consultations, with all the relevant stake-holders, before taking this step? How widely did they consult, if at all they did?

4. Could there be some people somewhere, not necessarily GEJ himself, who are not comfortable that UNILAG was the only university that is described as 'University of Lagos', therefore they want to see it so re-named, maybe just after anybody, or anything, as long as their ill-motivated goal is achieved?

I have immense respect for the late MKO Abiola, mainly for his well-known, and nationally spread, philanthropic work and for the prominent role he played, and the ultimate sacrifice he made, in ending military dictatorship in the country; yet as an alumnus of UNILAG, I do not support renaming it after him, for the same reason that the Igbos would resist any idea of renaming the UNN after anybody, no matter how much they respect that person!
What about UNIZIKhuh?

Beaf: There are already a few federal universities named after individuals. Unlig is far from the first, for example we have, Ahmadu Bello University, Obafemi Awolowo University, Bayero University, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University etc.

The simple truth is that ACN people find it embarrassing since they define themselves as an ethnic group (rather than a national party) and feel wrongfooted because they have done absolutely nothing to immortalise the name of Abiola. Its just embarrassed politicians venting because they have been exposed as not very caring.
Guy you are so on point.....

PoliticsRe: 2015: North Banks On S’west To Stop Jonathan ! by DaLover(m): 11:14pm On May 22, 2012
Gbawe: The SW will still have to vote for a candidate. You judge the mood of the SW totally wrongly ,in my opinion, by continuously speaking as if Yorubas will only be "motivated" if a Yoruba is vying for the Presidency.

This is the one region where folks perhaps feel most content not to hanker for the Presidency for many obvious reasons that includes how the SW, relatively, is a very politically sophisticated region. For good or bad, this region "enjoyed" the Presidency for 8 years 'undisturbed'. I suspect no Yoruba man will accept a 'poisoned chalice' knowing fully well he will be unable to deliver because of lack of peace stemming from a divisive Presidency.

Forget all the "zoning is dead" public noise. No one can lead Nigeria without peace which comes from the system genuinely accepting a Presidency as 'fitting' and equitable. Nigeria is still an abberation politically and it will do us well not to forget that.

The way forward, for folks like Atiku, is obvious from their current noise and machination. Pronounce zoning as dead publicly and simply negotiate with another major ethnic group (eg the Yorubas) to 'rotate' the Presidency. With so much bloodshed and with the current Presidency showing no interest in moving Nigeria closer to true federalism, this arrangement might appeal to a SW that will fathom that Fashola as VP virtually guarantees a Yoruba Presidency in the not too distant future. This is my opinion and everyone is free to provide their own as long as we remember that it is those not involved with politics who get the most emotional. The politicians themselves are rather pragmatic creatures who will follow 'permanent interests'. The political position of the SW ,towards 2015, is regionally the least rigid and most open to compromise for far too many reasons than needs to be belabored here.
Please what is your definition of true federalism? from what I understand, what AC is preaching as federalism is quite different from my own natural understanding?

secondly how can GEJ even begin to move for true federalism in a house where majority are naturally against it...that amounts to initiating a failed project....remember core north plus SW reps who will vote it down hold the majority numbers.
PoliticsRe: Alison-Madueke Inaugurates Africa’s Largest Oil Vessel In Delta by DaLover(m): 11:06pm On May 22, 2012
karpentar: FENOG is an oil and gas Pipeline Engineering, Design, Procurement and Installation firm. Currently, they are bidding for an oil pipeline project valued at over $700mln. Available information indicates that FENOG presented the lowest bid and will more than likely secure this lucrative Contract with Shell Portharcourt.

At the peak of the Construction works, not less than 5000 skilled and unskilled manpower will be deployed. There will also be volumes of sub-contracting activities to be implemented by at least 50 minor contractors. The vessel recently commissioned by the Minister will be handy in executing the critical aspect of the $700mln project- the "Bonny River Crossing" (that is pulling 30 and 24 inches pipeline across 3.6km Bonny River). In the past, such multi-million dollar and complex project would be done by the likes of Wilbros, SAIPEM, DAEWOO, etc. But with the push on Nigerian content, these opportunities are now passed on to capable local contractors such as FENOG, KAZTEC or NESTOIL. Its a good news for Nigeria and a positive step forward.

What you don't know ask questions, instead of exposing avoidable ignorance in an open forum and if you have issues with the Minister, create a new post for that and vent your whatever.....
@Bold, they are not ignorant, they actually know what they are doing, the real truth is that these set of people cannot handle the fact that some major progress is being made by this individual in this area...but they can't come out openly to attack the development...so they vent their frustrations on the nearest 9ja deltan....the Honorable minister herself....

See what one of the idiots wrote below, this is the first thought that could come out of his head when he read the topic...imagine the goat-like reasoning!!!

Demdem: I rejoice with the management and staff of this company. This is good news. Kudos also to obj administration who also rooted the local contents policy, the result of which we keep On seeing everyday.
