Year 2020, I think around may according to his parents because I can't recollect, this neighbor of ours and close friend to my sibling was into cultism.
There's was a cult clash at ikorodu that year and he lost his life, I wasn't told I was there life when police released his corpse to his parents and I was even part of those who digged the grave he was buried. Two years ago oo..


Now, this is year 2022, I saw this boy at orile, he wanted to board the bus I was in with my girlfriend. Immediately we both saw each other I wanted to scream but I couldn't I don't know how. But everyone in the bus saw my reaction, this boy disappeared on that spot.

This isn't a made up story, if there's any nairalander at orile bustop around that time will testify to this.

Omo! I still can't believe what I saw, I cried till I got home, my girlfriend was shocked and speechless as well. How did he do that? How did he disappear in midst of people? Why is he not dead? There's obviously something spiritual about this that I'm not told.

His mom has been hospitalized since we got home and I explained everything that happened. He was her only child. This is so disheartening and scary as well

It's been a while I was here. So, I'm back for another review and rating. This time, it's for the newly released Glamour Girls, which is a PlayNetwork production, with a collaboration from Netflix, so you know, money was not an issue. I will be reviewing what exactly Play Network used this excess funds they must have gotten, to do.

Plot:

We follow the luxury lives of a group of women who make money off of wealthy men. Lies, deceit and betrayal are part of the ingredients to this life.

Review:

To be honest, if the plot seems vague and empty to you, it's because that's what the entire movie was; vague and empty.

While I expected the movie to tank, from the moment I learnt of the cast, I did not expect it to tank this much. Mo Abudu must be sighing in relief, that this shambolic production doesn't have her name on it. Honestly, I saw this movie for 46 minutes, and the entire time, I was waiting for it to start. 46 minutes in and nothing had happened. Where do I even begin?

Dem say make we try dey talk good, before we talk bad. So, the good from this movie? Uzor Arukwe, Lynxx, and James Gardiner. Beautiful men, very beautiful. Lovely African men.

Another good? Well, at least we are once again reminded that a lot of people who live luxury lives are not doing it on their dime or on the back of legal dealings, so, if you never blow because you're on the straight narrow, no feel say na only your head dem no wash. Na just road you no know, and some of those roads are not nice.

Phew! Let us now get into the nitty gritty of it all...

Let me start with casting, because like I said, from the moment I saw the cast, I knew this movie would not bang so hard. Sharon Ooja as Emmanuella, this lady is one of those people that I'm conflicted on; can she really act, or is it pretty privilege? My conflict was not resolved by her performance in this movie. There were moments I thought she was doing too much, and moments she was doing just fine. In total, her performance was decent, but not quite AMVCA Best Actress level. Nse Ikpe-Etim as Donna, while being a boss lady, was a bit too stiff. I have never seen Nse give such a poor performance, and I have to blame her co-stars for killing her vibe, because Nse can do no wrong in my eyes. Toke Makinwa as Lulu, chai! Toke should please, stick to those short YouTube videos she does with Falz, she had possibly the worst performance of the four ladies, her character just seemed like a caricature. There was a scene where Nse, Toke and Sharon were gathered at Donna's (Nse) house, the delivery in that scene was so poor, I cringed the entire time. And then Joselyn Dumas' performance was like she been no collect complete money for the film. It lacked any kick to it. Even when Jemma (Dumas), was broken by her boyfriend, Alexander's (Edozien) actions, it still did nothing. Thank God for her chemistry with Lynxx sha, it was a saving grace, because we got some intense, seggsual something from it. Possibly the only pair that brought what I imagine the producers were going for, as far as on-screen chemistry went.

Where the women tanked though, the men somehow held their own. Uzor Arukwe's brilliance need not be reiterated at this point, because we can clearly see why Nollywood dey rush the guy like hot puffpuff, but once again, he brought some comic relief playing Lulu's (Makinwa) Igbo husband. His mannerism and speech was nicely delivered and very believable. Femi Branch, is another actor who can never be caught slacking. I truly enjoyed his portrayal of Kunle, Emmannuella's (Ooja) 'sponsor'. Gardiner as Zeribe, played the tough bodyguard with a soft spot for oga's babe appropriately. We could have gotten more as far as chemistry with Sharon Ooja was concerned, but I'm not sure who to blame for this failure between himself and Sharon. I got what they were going for, but whatever chemistry rose at some points, would quickly fall, like a poorly baked cake. Taymesan as Tommy was decent, although he did not have to play a challenging role, and neither did Ejike Asiegbu tbh.

This is the first movie production I have seen Lynxx in, we hadn't heard much of him since he decided he was a born again pastor, and secular music held no interest for him anymore. Imagine my surprise that our MOG was playing the charming, seductive and very deceptive love interest of Joselyn. Ladies and Gentlemen, yes, I am a simp for Mr. Lynxx. Please, I don't have much to say, but filmmakers, call this guy. He's got the IT factor. Thanks and God bless. I look forward to seeing more of Lynxx on screen.

Now, to other things; plotline, sound, editing. PlayNetwork used money they should have used to hire a good scriptwriter, to travel around the world. When Donna (Ikpe-Etim) got into some issues, we saw her jetting to Beirut and Berlin, for what? We no know. They sha gave them money, and they used it for trips. The plot was a whole mess of parts that did not align, so, the editing was clearly questionable. The settings were good, albeit lazy, because seeing luxury in Nollywood doesn't hold the same excitement as before. Na aesthetics we go chop? The sound was also poor...just hold remote with you, because it got very loud whenever the soundtracks were on, and then low, when the actors were speaking.

We saw so many scenes that we could neither make sense of, nor justify. So many unanswered questions; what did Lulu's husband see when he went through that door? What led to the death of Alexander the Accountant? How did a third flash drive magically appear for Donna to steal $6 billion? And why were they playing "You're my honey bunch, sugar plum..." In a boxing scene?

We may never know the answers to these questions, and we honestly pray Play Network does not feel compelled to answer them with a sequel, because we will revolt.

This movie was a waste of time, a disservice to the memory of the iconic Glamour Girls of 1994, and a poor attempt at a remake. They should have used all that money to pay ASUU to call off the strike.

Watch/Trash; The story is sweeter when someone else gists you, but you can watch for Lynxx .

The thing that upsets me more is when we start narrating our experiences of been dealt with toxic parenting from our fathers some people will be saying, we were products of manipulations of our mom. but that's a lie... they just don't know our pains.

Here are the attributes of my father, don't know if it's redpill or not.

1) My father swear for us at any slightest provocation (he uses word like, YOU GO DIE, YOU GO USE YOUR MOUTH RUB GROUND, WITCH and so much more) imagine as a kid growing up till this day and this man still uses same languages on us his children.

You don't dare have an issue with a neighbor in the presence of my dad which he's aware of, because the next morning he be sitting with that same neighbor and talk ill about you in your presence ( how many times my mom has quarrelled with people because of him...but before we know it, him and them have reconciled. my mom would be the bad person in the town)

3) IS WITCH A GOOD NAME TO CALL YOUR CHILD?

This man has called us witch to the extent the whole area is looking at us as one, he has literally made us look bad in the presence of people. compare us with other people.
he has spoiled us with his bad tongue. full area gossiping telling people their papa self dey call them witch...belike them don confess before.

4) MY FATHER HOLDS HIS BROTHERS CHILDREN IN HIGHER REGARDS THAN US.

you need to see the way he's happy whenever they come around, especially when they give him money like 5k, 3k ... prayers uphon prayers on them.

Please i need advise

I have been dating my girlfriend for some years now. She became an orphan recently, so I decided to open a shop for her so she can start earning something for her not to turn herself into something else since no family support.

Though she also invested all her savings into the business and I supported her also with the little i can. I thank God her business has been doing well and developing gradually.

But her behaviour has really changed seriously towards me. She hardly dail my number to check on me, she also goes out with any guy or men, she also password her phone, i cant even touch her phone, she will flare up. She will say it's nothing that she is just catching fun. I do overlook all this just to make peace rain.

Something happened yesterday that make me feel so bad. I told her I'm coming to visit her in her shop that if any food seller pass her shop, she should help me order food. So when I reached her side she told me to bring money that she can't use her money to buy food for me. I felt somehow inside with her response. I had to give her the money to get it because hunger dey wire me seriously.

So after I'm done eating, I was gisting with her but she is not responding, she was pressing phone, then a call entered and he told the man she is in her shop, that the man should stay at the junction that she is coming to meet him, she stood up and told me to be looking after her shop till she comes back. I was really dumbfounded and shocked, I coundn't utter any word as i don't want to talk or do anything silly as people are plenty around her shop. She left me there, I stood up also and left the shop. I really felt bad and sad. This is a person i have really tried my best for since she lost her parents. I'm planning to send her packing from the shop first, but my bro said i shouldnt try it that it's childish for me. He said I should chill for now. please I need your advice on how to go about this.

NOTE; I rent the shop for my MUM just to use it as her second shop to store her goods. Though the shop is too big, so i told her to let us split it into two, my gf can use the other half.

I have a girlfriend I am meaning to propose to during the festive period, she's everything I want in a woman except few exception which might be a hindrance to the proposal.
Gist is, my babe is a graduate but lack of work made her to learn fashion designing, she's done with the training and she's very good with what she does.

After marriage, I have told her that I'll assist in her business, I'm planning to get a bigger shop space for her and equip it with modern day machines, tools and tailoring materials goods to help make her work lucrative. I'm budgeting about 1.2-1.5m for this.

The issue now is that, 3 days ago, I asked her what her role would be if eventually after marriage she gets the shop, equipments and all, where she would come in in terms of responsibilities in the house. Her reply was she doesn't want to assume any responsibility and that it's my duty to cater for the family and she can only help & I shouldn't make anything compulsory for her. So many thoughts came through my mind. One of it was that, where the proceeds of her investment would be going to if I should shoulder all the responsibilities in the house knowing fully well that she makes money.

I rang my mum and told her of her response, I was shocked that she backed her saying that I shouldn't have asked her to foot anything in the house that it was my sole responsibility as a man to cater for my family my wife inclusive. My dad too, same thing. Even told my gf mum about it too , she giggled and said I shouldn't have asked her n that it's my duty to provide for my family. They all sounded foreign to me. Or am I the one not understanding?

My question now is, why invest that kind of money in her when I'm not sure of getting little or nothing in terms in return help to run the family. That sum of money could get me 4 brand new bikes and 2 neatly used Keke Napep for transportation business. I'm sure I'll be getting returns from these investment weekly or monthly basis.

I don't want who wouldn't have any sense of responsibility at home after investing in her, even if she's covering 10% or 5% I wouldn't mind. Mere helping doesn't go down well with me, she might have and decide not to give out. I rather not invest at all and expect nothing from her.

I don't know if I'm the one over thinking this things or my parent and her mum aren't seeing things from my perspective or am I being inconsiderate?
