Most Nigerians are lazy to read thus leading to their poor understanding of what development is all about. Before any government can make an impact in Nigeria, Nigeria has to undergo massive industrialization the like we are seeing in china. It is only through this that we can create Millions of jobs for the poor and solve many of our problems. The problem with Nigeria is technological and economic backwardness which cannot be solved without undergoing industrialization. The civil service economy we inherited from Britain cannot defeat poverty. No amount of promises from politicians will suffice, without massive industrialization Nigeria will remain poor and be taken advantage of by unscrupulous politicians. I know many people will argue that Nigeria is rich because we produce Millions of barrels of oil daily, but what they don't factor in is our huge population. We are a large country and can't depend on oil revenues alone to to end poverty. According to a report, the oil industry in Nigeria generates more than 80 per cent of Nigerian government revenues but provides less than 1 per cent of total jobs. What this means is that natural resources exploration does not always generate enough jobs. The advantage of industrialization is that it creates entirely new cities and improve the existing ones thereby creating Millions of opportunities for both the government and the people. Anything short of this, qqqqqqqqqqq we will continue to move in circle with harrowing poverty many.

China is very peculiar case.
You just don't know what to say.

The communist socialist government have been phenomenal.
The level of development the communist party has done in China on every sector in the past 30 years have been astounding.
Maximisation of everything.

Even the western civilisation is stunned.
You just can't argue with the results.

Any party that can grow the country so quickly from utter poverty, to the greatest industrial power in the world deserves credit.

That is all I can say.

U must be very reasonable to have known this. Most Nigerian youths are in total darkness which explains why they write nonsense on nairaland.

Even the great Chinese can not produce aircraft spare parts, this old men are just looking for people to kill

The Chinese do produce aircraft parts. In fact the Chinese have a well developed aircraft manufacturing industry. The Chinese produced their first jet fighter in 1958 and have since gone ahead to produce all types of fighter jets that today China remains the only country after the US and Russia to have produced its fifth generation stealth fighter. The only area in which China is lacking behind the US and Europe is in the commercial airplane field dominated mainly by Boeing and Airbus. But with successes CAMAC has made in the production of its ARJ21 and C919 planes, I think China is now well positioned to compete with America and Europe in commercial airplane category. What I am trying say is that China actually manufactures its planes.

Politics / Re: CAN Backs Placing Of Nigeria On Watchlist By US by Damod88: 2:43pm On Dec 23, 2019
Religion was intiatially conceived to make human beings moral but has now become the evil that humans must avoid because its purpose is no longer morality but rather to cause division among humans. The CAN spokesman talked about nepotism and religious favourism in government as though he is any better.I don't know of any Nigerian who is not nepotic and favouristic. Those of us who have been looking for jobs know better. Even in the USA there is nepotism. For example, President Trump has his daughter and son in law as adversers. The Brazilian president has his son as the country ambassador to the US. So it seems nepotism and favourism is innate in humans. Althoughl I hate nepotism and favourism because I have been a victim, but to think the said CAN representative won't do the same if given power will be mistaken. I think it is high time we corrected the wrong impression that Nigeria is a country of Muslims and Christians only. In fact there are more Nigerians practising other religions than we think. That other religious groups are not so well organized like the other two doesn't mean they are not large in number. So if CAN think the rights of the Christians are violated, does CAN also think that both Christians and Muslims have been violating the rights of religious minority with impunity in Nigeria?

I doubt if you know the meaning of illiteracy. You see people like you always say a country of brains being ruled by illiterates and forget that everybody has to be functional in his or her role for the country to move forward. Buhari your always consider illiterate is not the only leader we have. As a matter of fact anybody who heads a particular organization is a leader in his or her own right and whatever she or he does can either make or mar the country. The problem I see with Nigerians is that almost everybody is deficient in his or her role. If you think the president is poor in governance probably because you think he is not well read, then what about those who are highly read and are worse than the president? You see the problem with Nigerians is that we tend to see Nigeria as a country to be taken advantage of and not as a place to develop and be proud of. In order world we are not patriotic and always have a poor sense of nationhood. How on earth do you think Nigeria will develop when everybody seeks to outdo the other in looting the country to the stone age? For Nigeria to develop everybody must be up and doing which I doubt will ever happen with the misformation going on in the country.

helinues:

So the constitutions also dont allow them to build roads, provide portable water, increase the security, improve the state educational sector, inviting investors to invest in their respective states..

Na so our constitutions wicked reach?

don't mind Nigerians. They always blame the constitution which is not the human beings who make decisions. The truth is that no matter the system of government we adopt we will always find it difficult to develop because, as Claude Ake once said, development has not always been on the agenda of Africa leaders. Development is not something you play with as we always do in this part of the world. Even the famed Karl Marx once said that industrial development was a matter of life and death.Countries who are serious and know what they are doing will continue to make money off unserious ones such as those in Africa. China is making a lot of money from dangote refinery more than what Nigeria is making. For instance, more than 80 per cent of the steel used in the construction of the refinery comes from China,in addition to hundreds of Chinese engineers doing the construction. You see when you don't invest in your people they become economic liability that millions of Nigerians have become. African leaders are poorly educated to understand the geo-politics of the world. This is the reason they have adopted the neo-liberal economic policies of the West, which in its entirety call for aggressive privatization of state assets and non interference in the economy by the state. In other words they are saying African leaders should not site industries and leave everything to private individuals. Now tell me how a country with such large number of unemployed and poverty stricken people going to survive if government does not play a role in the economy? I understand that Nigerian government is grossly inefficient in management, but leaving the establishment of industries to private individuals only will not help grow the nation. This is exactly what China rejected which has seen China develop so quickly. Some of the biggest corporations in china today are government owned. Corporations such Sinotrucks, XCMG,JAC motors, JMC motors, Hiense,FAW motors, foton motors, ZOOMLION construction equipment company and many others are state owned. The companies, in addition to creating millions of useful jobs and revenues for both the people and the government, have laid the foundation for technological development of both the country and the private sector, as many people who have previously worked in those state owned companies have gone on to establish their own companies. Example of such company is SANY heavy equipment construction company, which happens to be the six largest maker of construction equipment in the world. With the government being serious in its understanding it has a much bigger role to play in the industrial modernization of the country, Nigeria will continue to be underdeveloped with harrowing poverty for the majority. No private individuals in Nigeria have the capital and technology to do much. The government has to lay down the foundation for industrial development.
Politics / Re: Gbajabiamila: Nigeria’s Tertiary Institutions Lack Capacity To Solve Problems by Damod88: 8:27am On Dec 20, 2019
For those old politicians saying that Nigeria has to be restructured for development to come, but what they don't understand is the fact that Nigerians lack the necessary intellectual capacity to build a modern and prosperous society. The preconditions for building a modern industrial civilization are the quality of education a country gives its citizens and also the determination of its leadership to make sure resources are mobilized towards industrialization at a rapid pace. All these are absent in Nigeria which makes development seems difficult. It doesn't matter who becomes the president or the governor, Nigerians are intellectually backward to provide sound leadership for the nation. For you to understand my argument you just have to take a stock of what even the younger ones are saying on a platform like this. You will feel sorry for Nigeria when you go through what Nigerian youths discuss on social media daily, it is as if there is no a medicum of rationality in us again. No matter what anybody is saying as regards Nigerian development, the fact remains that we are not capable of building a modern society with prosperity for at least 80 percent of the population. We lack the capacity for enlightenment and scientific rationality which are needed for modern society. Even if the country gets broken up into different parts today, the underlying issues of poverty and bad leadership will continue to predominate because as a people ,Nigerians do not have the rationality and intellect to solve problems. What is going to happen henceforth amid all this is a brazen continuation of the scramble for power for personal aggrandizement. Since government remains the only truly dispenser of forture in a resource-rich country like Nigeria, politics will continue to be a do or die affairs with all the consequences that will follow. It will be a mistake for anybody to expect Nigeria to move toward a mature politics, instead we are still going to witness more political killings and all sort of electoral fraud because for a politician power is the ultimate. Africans are just too uneducated and weak to compete with America, Europe and Asia in anything.

The Uighurs have been fighting the Chinese for over 400 years for an independent state in the territory known as xinjiang in Chinese. Don't make a Christian versus Muslim kind of thing because both religions are culpable in terms of crime against humanity. The Christian West want Turkey to take responsibility for Armenian massacre but do not want to take responsibility for over 55 millions people killed in the Americas during the European conquest, or the millions of Africans who died while being transported across the Atlantic Ocean. Christianity and Islam are the plaques of the earth.

Chinese authorities didn't throw the Uighurs into concentration camps. Concentration camps for the western media is to make the situation look horrible because the idea of concentration camps we have was what Hitler did in second World War.You should ask yourself why the same western media Ozil referenced is not covering the Isreali's atrocities in Gaza and instead focus on Uighurs in China. The West sells huge amount of weaponry to Isreal and Saudi Arabia for use against the unarmed Palestinians and Yemenis but chides China for trying to re-educate potential tools for extreme ideologies. If Ozil is serious he should first criticize the British government for selling weapons to Saudi and Isreal which they use in Yemen and Palestine. The West is pursuing a geo-political game with China and will do everything possible to paint China in bad light. The media attention given to Uighurs in China doesn't mean the West love Muslims, in fact it is quiet the opposite. The West is known to have had anti-Muslims policies ever since the moors of North Africa were driven from Spain while the Chinese have accommodated Muslims for centuries. There are mosques older than 600 years old in Xi'an,the capital of the ancient song dynasty.

China doesn't hate any religion. In fact what China is against is religious extremism as seen in the world today. Islam has been part of Chinese identity for at least one thousand year. The Uighur ethnic group in Xinjiang autonomous region of China are not the only Muslims in China. China has several minority ethnic groups who are Muslims such as the Hui Chinese, the Kazaks and others. Ever since the conquest of the area now known as Xinjiang in Chinese by the Qing dynasty , the Uighurs ,Who are the largest ethnic group in the area, has been fighting for independence from China. The independent struggle has taken a religious dimension with terrorists, largely supported by America and Turkey, waging religious attacks in major cities in Xinjiang, and even in Beijing's Tia'namen square and in Kumming Airport. After these barbaric attacks ,the Chinese government has began to prioritize security in Xinjiang by tackling the root causes of extremism and violence. The Western governments which have been bombing and killings millions of Muslims in Iraq, Pakistan, Somalia, and in Yemen are now calling the Chinese government's measures to safeguard its territory from extremism human rights violations ,just because they are looking for a way to undermine China's rapid economic development which defies all their economic theories. For your information, Islam has been existing in China for over a thousand year before the Americas was discovered. In the northern Song dynasty, Muslims from the Middle East and Africa settled in the song dynasty capital, known then as Chang'an, but known today as Xi'an. There is a popular quarter in Xi'an known as the Muslim quarter with vibrant Muslim cultures such as food. There are mosques over 600 years old in China, so it is false to say China is against Islam.Although the Chinese government is essentially atheist, but it still tolerate religions in as much as such religions do not threaten the existence of the Chinese state. What China is against is religious extremism and saparatism. China never experienced religious war witnessed in Europe and the Middle East, as all religions in china coexisted harmoniously. So it will be foolish of anybody who does not know the history of China to say China is against Islam.

So journalists should be treated as Saints even if they engage in unethical journalism. In case you don't know some of the journalists we have in Nigeria are paid journalists doing the bidding of their pay political masters.People should know the difference between ethical journalism and journalism done to smear people's names for political purposes. In future when some of you grow up and begin to take part in politics you will understand what I am saying. Some politicians will engage the services of journalists to smear your name by carrying false story about you. The media organizations are dangerous, they can either make you or mar you. That a person is a journalist doesn't mean he has all the freedom to write whatever he or she deems fit, afterall there is limitation to freedom of speech. It is not Buhari that punch is trying to ridicule but the sanctity of the office of the President of Nigeria which will continue to be even after Buhari leaves office. By calling Buhari president one is not only respecting Buhari as a person but also the sanctity of the highest office in Nigeria. For instance, punch will not refuse to address the monarch of Ife as Ooni of Ife even if the monarch goes against the provisions of his monarchical constitution. I urge punch to refrain from unreasonable journalism and focus more on issues that are more important. Punch has the right to express its opinions on any matter but by trying to sound petulant shows how grossly politicised the newspaper has become.

That's what democracy is all about. In a typical underdeveloped country like Nigeria where the people are poor and less educated, political leaders often embark on nonsense and call it development in the name of democracy. What we don't understand as regards democracy is that it is only a political system and not an economic system.Democracy does not mean that we will be able to create enough wealth for ourselves as people sometimes think. Those who have benefited from so-called democracy in Nigeria are the rich and their cronies while leaving the poor people to their fate. For you to grasp my argument, India at the time of independence was much richer than China, which was embroiled in a civil war. The Chinese after the war chose not to follow democracy because the majority of the population were poor and uneducated, India on the order hand inherited the British paliarmentary democracy. Although the Chinese made some mistakes initially due in part to the rigid application of communist political economy, but they quickly reversed course and adopted a more pragmatic economic system through a mixture of both private and government ownership of means of production following the coming to power of Deng Xiaoping in the seventies. The Chinese also encouraged Europe, America and Japan to invest in China thereby bringing into the country the necessary capital and technology that the Chinese badly needed to modernize their country. This period in China economic development was called "reforms and opening up era" which also saw the establishment of several special economic zones in Shenzhen, Shantou, Pudong, Zhuai, Xiamen and Dongguan. Whilst China was busy building infrastructures and encouraging the developed countries to relocate their labour intensive industries to China, Indians were busy arguing in their parliament over nonsense such as religion. The Indians did not bother about economic development thinking that since they had democracy they had everything.Today, four decades after economic reform , China has emerged from an economic backwater to the world second largest economy lifting in the process an estimated 800 millions people out of poverty. India on the order hand remains trapped in poverty while still debating in the parliament while China has moved on to fourth industrial revolution .The GDPs of both India and China tells the difference in level of prosperity between the two Asian nations who started their economic modernization at the same time but with different political systems. In 2018 China GDP was 13.2 trillion dollars while India GDP was 2.7 trillion dollars.

As regards Nigeria, our leaders do not have any economic blueprint to move us out of poverty. They will continue to create more poverty while we continue to be hypnotized about the ideals of democracy. I am yet to see any substantial investment Nigerian government has made in the lives of Nigerians. It may interest you to know that Nigerian political leaders are only interested in government to loot and to further underdevelop the country.
