This thing happens in most countries, so it is not unique to Nigeria. American president, Trumps, appointed his son in-law as his adviser on Middle East matters. Also the newly elected president of Brazil has appointed his son as Brazil's ambassador to America.Democracy is a fraud. |
Sleemut09:All these are not achievements. Governors have been doing these things right from 1999.During the governorship of Adefarati in ondo state, the state government paid for my neco fees. What we need in Nigeria is real development which will tackle poverty and backwardness. If you know how backward and underdeveloped Nigeria is then you won't be celebrating this nonsense in the twentieth century. U can't become developed without a sound industrial and scientific base. |
Emmy3:The constitution says secondary school leaving certificate or its equivalence. |
Emmy3:So because you have three degrees you think you should be paid more. There are people without any Certificates who earn 5 times more than you earn. That u have all these certificates doesn't mean you are going to be rich. And if u want to be the president you can start contesting now. Buhari contested many times before he was elected in 2015. |
Many people rely on what others say without themselves finding out the truth about what they're made to believe. Such people are not different from animals. |
This shows how unintelligent most Nigerians are. How can a nation that desperately needs foreign investments to growth its economy be calling for the nationalization of existing foreign ones?So ,if it happens today that Nigerians in China are being treated badly, then the Nigerian government should also nationalise Chinese investments in the country. Those calling for nationalization ,especially the politicians, are saying it to impress gullible Nigerians that they are patriotic, but in reality they know that Nigerian government cannot do it. Should the government do it, the consequences will be more damaging than tsunami. It will send the signal that Nigeria is not save for foreign investments and that the government can ,at the slightest provocation ,seize such investments. This will ultimately destroy the Nigerian economy without any hope for local substitutes for seized foreign ones, because this is a country whose leaders and technocrats have been deceived by American politicians and economists that the government should not be involved in business. And for those who are saying that the government should nationalise South African investments in Nigeria in response to the destruction of Nigerian investments in South Africa, what these individuals should know is that South African companies in Nigeria were duely registered in South Africa before the came to Nigerian market. In other words, these are corporate entities duely incorporated with legal rights to sue and be sued, there are infact legal entities. There is definitely going to be protection for these companies unlike a small store operated by a Nigerian trader living in South Africa .The only Nigerian businesss that can enjoy the same reciprocal protection from South African government are the large Nigerian entities like dangote, Glo, and the banks that are duely registered in Nigeria. Well, I don't know if these Nigerian companies do have presence in South Africa, but if they do you would probably not hear them being attacked ,or was it reported that Nigerian corporate entities were attacked in South Africa? The stores burnt and looted in South were owned by individual small business owners who are not rich enough to either register or operate as a corporate body. It is going to be difficult for so many of these small business owners to get back to business. I watched on television yesterday a Bangladeshi trader crying after his store was looted. He was appealing to the government to come to the rescue of traders whose stores were affected. I think the south African government should help some of these traders get back to business even if it is going to be in the form of loans with low interest rates and repayable after some significant period of time. Now coming home to Nigeria, how are the store owners whose articles of trade were destroyed in the reprisal attacks going to be compensated? We should not forget that here in Nigeria properties worth millions of naira were also looted in the reprisal attacks. |
DateMynd44:Mugabe was no doubt one of the most educated leaders in the entire world. He had three university degrees from three different universities. In addition to that, he was a great reader who was inspired by great revolutionaries in history, like Karl Marx, V. I Lenin, Mao Zedong and others. The truth is only few African leaders compared with Mugabe in terms of knowledge and ideology. Why do you think he was so hated by the west? It was due to his understanding of history and the conspiracy of the western world to keep African underdeveloped forever. The problem of Mugabe with the western world was not one of democracy as they tried to make us believe. The problem stemmed from Mugabe's anti-imperialist agenda and his doggedness in pursuing the land redistribution policy. He refused to be caged like Mandela which was why the western media attempted to destroy him. During his time as Zimbabwe president, he renamed the country from his former colonial name, Rhodesia. He also renamed the capital city from its former colonial english name to an African name. All these radical policies did not go well with the western world. Lack of democracy in Zimbabwe was just a pretext to sanction and ultimately destroy Zimbabwe's economy. The underlying reason was that Mugabe was a radical anti-imperialist stateman who came to power through a revolutionary struggle. Despite all the mistakes,he will forever remain a great African leader who remained truly committed to his political ideals even till his dying days. |
Why are Nigerians making the xenophobic attacks in South Africa look as though Nigerians are the only victims? Citizens from other countries were affected as well ,yet we have not seen other countries doing half of what Nigerian government has done in sending an envoy to South Africa. The problem with many Nigerians is that they don't understand how international diplomacy is being conducted. There's is nothing Nigerian government can do than to summon the South African ambassador to Nigeria and lodge a solemn representation. Even asking our ambassador to Africa to come home might not be necessary because it could make addressing the issue more complicated. A solemn representation with the South African ambassador to Nigeria is the first thing to do. There are going to be consequences for both countries if the issue is not resolved diplomatically. For example, if the issue gets complicated leading to severance of diplomatic relations, it will definitely affect other areas of cooperation between the two countries. There are thousands of Nigerian students in South African universities who are going to be affected by any break down in diplomatic relations. The two countries are interdependent economically, with South Africa having a clear edge in terms of technology and industrial productions. What do you think will happen should the two countries decide to end all relationships? Definitely Nigerian economy will suffer more than South African economy because the later has more investment in Nigeria. As things stand now, we cannot afford a strained relationship with South Africa, besides there will be no basis whatsoever for such since our territorial integrity has not been violated by South Africa. The issue is xenophobia which requires dialogue between various African governments and the government of South Africa.Nigerian youths need a lot of education to understand international diplomacy. many people on this platform are too poor in reasoning that they easily become preys to political manipulation. |
StrikeBack:Whoever claims he/she is a billionaire in Nigeria is a criminal. I will recommend this book for you to get an idea of how African wealth is being looted by foreigners in collaboration with their African partners;"The Looting machine by Bourg Tom". |
Onarabu:Most people who claim they are professors in Nigeria are unreasonable. There's is difference between them and the gullible ones on this platform. |
Revenge and reprisal attacks on South Africans is the best solution. All these talk talk won't stop them, we have to make them realize nobody has Monopoly of violence.[/quote U should realize that there are more Nigerians in South Africa than South Africans in Nigeria. Besides the Nigerians in South Africa are easily identifiable because of their number, how many South Africans have u seen in Nigeria? |
MaNyEsq:Are all the tribes in Nigeria not black, don't they hate and kill one another? |
Arsenella007:Leadership is all about diplomacy, rationality and communication. I understand so many of you are still kids which explains why u reason the way you do. How is Nigerian going to hurt south African economy when South Africa has a more developed economy than Nigeria? South Africa has more investments in Nigeria such that if they pull out of Nigerian market the economy will come crashing down. Do you know that mtn puts food on the table of millions of Nigerians? Do you think the president is foolish to the point that he start closing South African businesses in Nigeria?Only fools do that in response to an issue which could be solved diplomatically. No reasonable leader engages in an unnecessary trade war like Trump. |
davodyguy:Although I respect ur opinion but I disagree with your assertion that Trump is making life difficult for the Chinese economically. The two countries are suffering from tarrifs, so it is not just the Chinese manufacturers who are suffering the American farmers and small business owners are crying bitterly. As regards Nigeria applying economic sanctions on South Africa, I don't think we have the economic advantage to do that. South African economy is a lot more advanced than Nigerian economy such that if we impose higher tarrifs on South African products it will only hurt our economy. All we need do is to ask the South African government to do a lot in the area of security. But mind u south Africa has one of the highest crime rates in the world, they don't only kill foreigners but also themselves. So it is going to be difficult to put a stop to it. |
syntekelite:Destroy ur own first. |
opribo:So when you attack mtn, who are going to be the victims? Almost all the workers in mtn Nigeria are Nigerians and not south africans. And for ur information more than half the wealth in mtn Nigeria is owned by wealthy Nigerians,so u really can't do much to hurt South Africa at individual level. Moreover, the south africans doing the rioting do not care much about South African companies operating in Nigeria because these companies belong to the rich white South Africans and the black political class. The rioters are poor and really don't care much about either mtn or dstv.It is unfortunate that poor Africans from other African countries are being targeted for poverty and oppression the majority of black South Africans have had to endure since the end of apartheid. For those of u who have made to believe in the mythical heroism of Mandela, the whole myth was contrived by the white to deceive you. Mandela was free on the basis of the arrangement that blacks would only enjoy political freedom to some degree and not economic freedom. That was the reason Mandela didn't make any attempt at wealth redistribution in South Africa. Today in South Africa, almost 75 percent of black population live in poverty with the majority of them living in townships of Soweto and Alexandra. Xenophobic attacks in South Africa will not stop until the government of South Africa addresses the issue of poverty and lack of acess to land for the black majority. Their inability to understand the remote causes of their economic alienation make the young south Africans think their fellow black people from other African countries are the cause of their poverty the same way poor Nigerians vent their anger on their fellow poor Nigerians in the name of tribalism . |
Nigerians are hypocrites. It is unbelievable that we can come together to condemn xenophobia in South Africa when we also indulge in the same act here in Nigeria in the name of religion and tribalism. Hausas are threatening the igbos while the igbos are at loggerheads with the Yorubas.I never could have imagined Nigerians coming together in solidarity with the victims of Xenophobia in South Africa given the fact that we also kill ourselves here in Nigeria. |
Many Nigerian youths are not educated and reasonable enough to be given responsibility. However, there are young Nigerians who are educated and reasonable enough to be saddled with responsibility. The thing is if you are young and know what it means to lead, don't wait till you are being called to serve because that may not come unless ur family belongs to the ruling elite or by stroke of luck. What young and reasonable Nigerians can do is to come together and form a political movement driven entirely by ideology of a positive nature. We should through the movement engage in community work to win win the minds of the masses. |
Elliot2:I don't know why you people keep making reference to jews whenever there's ethnic tension in Nigeria involving the igbo people. You people have nothing in common with the jews, so why don't you maintain your distinct identity as black people? The jews do not care about you, in fact they even hate black people. For ur information the oversea Chinese are the most successful people in South East Asia where their ancestors migrated to centuries earlier. But hardly could you see the Chinese claiming they are jews. Wherever the Chinese go they dominate the economy and yet the never claimed Jewish ancestry on the basis of their economic success. You people should just stop identifying with a race of which you are not part. It is disgusting doing that. Maintain your black identity and stop the inferiority complex. |
higgs:The opinions of those kids on nairaland do not represent the majority opinions. |
Ikechunna:Hope the igbos are not marginalizing the minority tribes in their states. |
Nigeria future is not bright because most Nigerian youths are foolish. Imagine idiots celebrating exercise books. If you mass produce 2 million exercise books, then per unit cost will not be more than 35 naira. Multiply 35 naira by 2 million copies u will get an idea of how much was probably spent and that if the number of students in Oyo state are up to 2 million. Any project by any government in Nigeria is just an avenue to steal. Sometimes such projects are awarded to the cronies of the politicians for their contribution to the success of the government in power. All Nigerian leaders are criminals without having the slightest love for the nation. They understand that 98% of Nigerians are foolish which explains why they often play on their psychology. No nation with such huge percentage of foolish people can be great which is the reason Nigerians keep celebrating fraudsters and criminal politicians in the name of democracy. The day Nigerians realize that democracy is the biggest fraud of the century that day will mark the beginning of their liberation from servitude. |
jakezebrax:I presume u are kid whose brain is not well developed. If you are rational and educated enough what I expected from u is disagreement with good reasons pointing out why you do not buy my opinion.Well so many of you on this platform are kids without the capacity for rational discourse. That's why it is easier for so many of you to be easily manipulated. |
RugaTerrorist:What you people don't understand is that Buhari is not the government, on the contrary buhari is only a president. You seem not to have a definite direction by making your biafra agitation an anti buhari movement. The problem you are going to face is whether your movement will still retain its current momentum once buhari leaves office. Because as I understand your movement the focus is just too on buhari and the north instead of Nigerian government. Will you still continue the agitation in this current form should next president of Nigeria emerges from your tribe? If you don't stustain your agitation while your kinsman is in power then I will believe that your biafra agitation is all about buhari and not for anything else. |
People who don't understand Biafran flag color choice especially afonjas don't know what it means. Go and look at the flag of Black Panther, Black American Liberation movement and compare it to Biafran flag. You will know that Biafra is not just a nationhood movement but to also restore Black Power. The civil war was not just a war to stop Biafra independence in literal sense, but it was a war to stop the rise of a powerful black race by virtue of its technological might to ensure balanceof power on this planet, in other words...look after and protect all other black race on this planet by virtue of their destiny "the chosen people to lead the black race." Read Ojukwu speech to African Americans in the 60s. Infact African Aemerican Black Panther adopted that flag in 1966 from Biafran flag when they saw what Biafra was fighting for and speech from Ojukwu. If you read Ojukwu's speech, you will cry. He was way ahead of his African peers on pan-africanism. We could care less if you like the color, just as you afonjas don't like the name Biafra. Biafra is coming and will come to restore the dignity of black man on this earth. And it will come from his chosen people...BIAFRANS
