What is the total budget for this project?

How much spent so far?

LMAO You rant like a woman on her period. Who goes on an anonymous forum to brag about their feats in real life if not a miserable nobody? It's very obvious your frustration goes beyond any of the points I made here and you have some deep seethed hatred for your country. Whatever protests may be directed at the ideology or structure of the country it's never been specifically about the name which is what this whole discussion started from. Of course, you've moved the goalpost again.

Your whole gene pool hasn't accumulated the mileage that I have you mo.ron (slaves included). You're so sensitive you're making threats on an online forum because someone doesn't agree with you. Do your worst you shameless senile old man.
Alright. Thank you.

Age doesn't profer wisdom. If you are as old as you claim and still as stupid as you sound then truly you've wasted your existence. You keep moving goalposts from one end to another which tells me you're an old fool who isn't above arguing for the sake of it. Regardless of the provenance of the country's name, is any region actively disputing the name? Is that not the crux of the argument. But no, now it's about semantics with you. Shameless dakiki.

Culture › Re: Five Weaknesses Of The Igbo People by Dancebreaker: 9:01pm On Mar 25, 2023
This OP has generalised way too much.

In a better organised modern society, Igbo can-do spirit is just what you need to be innovative, creative and build successful businesses. Innoson and Coscharis are good examples, against the odds.
You don't need to kowtow to anyone to succeed. Igbo have more than enough common sense to cope anywhere they are.

I know of Igbo in every society I have ever lived in who have adapted greatly to the local culture (language, food, norms) while also preserving Igbo culture.

We should stop blaming our systemic failure on Igbo.

OP is obviously writing this because of presidential election. The fact that Obi got over 6m votes is evidence that Nigerians, especially the youth disagree with you.

Whoever becomes president of little benefit to any tribe in 9ja, unless he truly works to make 9ja work for all.

Then name it after a landmark or something in your country. Anything tangentially related to your country.
Would everyone accept Olumo Rock, Aso Rock, Idanre Hills, Yankari, Sambisa Forest, Oguta Hills, Ogbunike Cave, Benin Moats or Osse River as the basis for Naming 9ja, for example? grin cheesy
Would Yankarians, Osserians or Ogutians be a name Nigerians would have been better inspired by?

You underestimate the complexities of African countries combed hurriedly together by colonial masters.

Geographical expression countries, as Awo once said, have a long way to go. Sugar-coating it for convenience won't help anyone.

That name too go be scam. She nor wan reveal. What if she cleared the man's apartment of property before leaving? I remember cases similar to what OP just wrote back in the day.

The lady is hiding something and would not want to ever face it. To play victim is easy but the truth is always a bit different.

OP has made the first step. Try to link up with Igbo organisations. The dad's pic might help.

Good luck!

Don't be surprised that Bissau people currently have easy access to money in their bank accounts while 9ja don't. So football failure is just another symptom of systemic decline into the abyss.

I have long said that it is only to those who are serious that big population is a blessing.

Yeah. It's really strange how Ghanaians chose to name their country after an Empire that has literally nothing to do with them though.
Benin Republic named former Dahomey after Benin Kingdom/Empire. Though Dahomey is also roughly in the Bight of Benin coastally.

Akan/Asante or Ga-Adangbe would have been too divisive so they chose a more neutral historical name.

If Nigeria wanted to change its name in 1960 or 1963 upon becoming independent or republic, Arewa, Oodua, Benin, Oyo, Benue, Nri or any name attached to one region or ethnicity would have been unacceptable.

Well, I don't know quite much. He could have probably started at the basic before processing further. But generally, schooling in abroad is much easier. Do a student who's doing quite well in a Nigeria university will do far better in abroad.
It depends on circumstances. Economic support, personal attitude, ability, etc.

When people go abroad, most come to realise that they need to do well. It focuses their mind. In 9ja, without mentioning tribe, you see how well traders of a certain tribe do outside their region. It's got to do with being more serious and hustling more tenaciously once you migrate from the "comfort" of your home. Mostly anyway.

What you consider top uni abroad may not even be in top 50 in that country but still rated hundreds of places above any 9ia university because the research impact of our universities have greatly declined since the 1970s/80s.

My cousin got admitted into one of the best universities in USA to study engineering. Someone who couldn't pass his jamb here in Nigeria.

Did you even realise that Nigeria doctors from top Nigeria schools can compete well against UK and USA doctors? That's why there's massive brain drain from Nigeria
How did he then get into the university? Grades for admission to top unis are quite clear, no long leg. Top unis abroad for some course also require additional exams.

By top uni what is its world ranking and US ranking? People always cite how a less smart person was admitted into a top school abroad. Which school?

If you tell me that some people with poor attitude, poor circumstances or inadequate support in 9ja didn't do well in 9ja studies but excelled abroad, I will understand.

Passing medicine and dentistry exams anywhere in the world is evidence that you are a top talent, so remove Medicine, Vet and Dentistry from it. Even Law, some science courses and Engineering in some 9ja unis. If you select the best in any environment, they won't represent the general population.

By the way, I am telling what I have seen. That question you asked I could easily have answered over 25 years already from seeing it.
Education › Re: Second-class Upper Is Overrated In Nigeria By Deji Yesufu by Dancebreaker: 9:49am On Mar 23, 2023
Bashet:
I don't believe it's overrated. In fact, I rate good grades (First class, 2nd class upper) from Nigeria top universities and even second class lower but if it's second class lower, it has to be good courses. Also, I rate Nigerian top universities than degrees got from outside of the country. I mean top Nigerian universities, not those universities that admit without passing your Jamb. I even think passing one's jamb should be a requirement for job occupation. I say this because some universities in Nigeria admit students regardless of their jamb marks.

Back to why I rate Nigeria's top universities over schooling in abroad.

There was my uncle's son who always failed his jamb until he had to send him to study engineering at a university in abroad to avoid embarrassment. That being said, if the said child graduate as one of the best graduating students from a school in abroad, of course I will rate him because he or she is among the top cream.
Dude, not top foreign universities. Top foreign universities in the West attract the best students from across the world. What chance do you have to test yourself against students on national scholarship from Japan, South Korea, Brazil, USA, Canada, India, Russia, South Africa, NZ and so on at UI, Uniben, Unilag, OAU, ABU, UNN?
In top 30 UK and US universities you do.

How many profs shaping body of knowledge and discovery get to teach in Nigerian top unis compared to top Western unis?
How many Nobel Prize winners do you get to see in your lecture theatre or tutorial in 9ja top unis?

Oh boy, say what you know well enough and leave the rest. Don't generalise, biko.
If you say most 9ja people going to study abroad do not attend top foreign universities, I will agree.

Even at that there are certain attitudes and behaviours you acquire abroad. The realisation that it is about acquiring the knowledge and skills to perform in real life. Not just cramming to get a grade.

I just got fired from my job yesterday and I have no idea why, just out of the blue.

Any advice to help with this. I cried on my drive home because I really enjoyed working there and the pay was good. I guess that's what I get for trying to ever make something of myself.

I try to make an honest living as a young man trying to enter the workforce and this is what happens.
Is it time to become an unemployed once again?

I feel bleeped. Life is bleeped. I just wanted a nice house, a wife and a little savings I'm the bank. Guess that's not happening
Dude, sorry about that. Sorry because you enjoyed doing the job and it paid the bills.
Life has just given you lemons. It's time to make lemonade with it.

After "grieving" the loss of the job, you have no choice but to dust yourself up. Relax for a few days. Cool your head. Reach out to people. Old friends and course mates, etc. Be honest about your situation to people. Some may not genuinely empathise with you, but don't worry.

Manage your savings well. Cut costs wherever possible. Look at areas of employment you may not have considered before. Leverage on your talents, experience, interests, even hobbies to make a living. Even tech if you were not in tech before. Even teaching that many frowned upon is offering Japa opportunity to some now.

Being young is even a opportunity. You can still learn and adapt quickly with less commitments currently. Good luck.

My sister this is the truth. He is confused and depressed about the situation. He he has no energy or desire to face the world. He is yet to accept reality. Depression and addiction/problem gambling are two serious issues.
He also feels emasculated not providing as he used to. He is definitely not happy about it.

Keep supporting him so that he doesn't go into something he might regret just to make quick money.

Also to ensure that his situation doesn't rift you guys apart.

As it stands, he might need counselling.

You have made some good points in your post. Especially houses to be rented out, no need overbuilding them with huge pillars and all. Unless you are in "de luxe" market niche. Just ensure good quality and make it functional. Let it be spacious outside and incorporate more nature/trees/flowers to make it more liveable. Families with kids will really enjoy it.

Hopefully, you will get bigger appointment.

Amen.

Prof. Akin is quietly doing a great job. Very versatile dude.

Beyond health care, he works and research in environmental conservation.

Minister of Environment or Science, Tech and Innovation would be a nice fit.

What is meant to happen will always happen. Accident is almost always inevitable. Whether the driver had listened or waited or not, it would still happen. But we must all be cautious even as humans. I pray for those injured to recover speedly in Jesus name. Amen
This is a VERY dangerous mindset.

Everyday Health and Safety experts are working around the clock worldwide to find ways to minimise risk.
Please read more widely. The improvement in transport safety alone daily improves safety of all forms of transportation.
In 9ja people travel on boats in waterways without life vests, some knowing fully well that engine of the boat is faulty. When fatalities and injuries occur, na so God want am. Haba!

Wearing seatbelts, observing road traffic signs, avoiding intoxication while driving and servicing vehicles correctly save millions of lives. Through risk reduction.

Simply put, if the driver had waited and let the train pass, the accident would not happen. Over religiousness is not helping us. I wonder why there are no timed barriers that open and close to safely allow cars pass cross the train track. In Ikeja for that matter?

Heaven helps those who help themselves.

And please let us stop all these blaming on men for issues that a woman has. If she is not into sex, men! If she she has a dry vagina, men. If she is not in the mood, still men!

Men are blamed for every fvcking thing a woman does and for her problems.

Jeez.
My brother abeg tell them o. This idea that everything is a man's fault helps nobody. It is abdication of duty. A valid ground for divorce even.

Let nobody try to fool with Hollywood script of romantic nonsense about marriage. Marriage is hard work, sacrifice, conscious effort and compromise.

The woman is an adult and should know that sex is among her duties as a wife.
Yes, she told OP that she doesn't like penetrative sex but did OP promise her that it will be a marriage without sex or once a month thing?

There are too many men and women that have no business with marriage BUT marry to tick the box. Because they believe society wants it that way.
There lots of things men do for their wives and family that they'd rather not do but have no choice.

OP, probe into her past. Any history of rape, abuse, etc?

Once the baby comes, you will need to look at things carefully. Months after delivery. For now, not much you can do.

Then go for counselling. Otherwise your marriage may not survive it long term. Good luck.
