Now all my billionaire uncles don vex finish... we will now be doing damage control.
When issues happen on site, so far people don’t die, always learn to give it some time.
Take it off your mind for a while and watch things fall into place.

To say you still chop twinskenny’s N65k few weeks ago shows you have a good heart if you learn to control it in temporary moment of madness like this one.
That he committed such amount into your hand despite the issue both of you are having shows that he has respect and trust for you.
One thing I’d never do is to allow my emotion becloud my reasoning.
If you remember what I said when this issue was raised. I said “Do you want to be right? Or you want your job to be completed?” From all indications your action is shifting towards the former than the latter even though your main goal is to get the job out of the way.
I know some of my peep here who have been in one issue or other like this would understand why you acted the way you did. It’s normal to get mad but don’t stay mad.
Sh*t happens.

Kenny said he did not get a dime from d project, for christ sake BELIEVE HIM, and focus on getting d job done....if you find out otherwise, then you can expose him, but get the job done first! That should be your number one priority....Do you know what micgray and kenny can achieved if they both cooperate and focus their energy and connection on getting d borehole guy to do what he has been paid for? I was pissed this afternoon because the borehole guy is chilling somewhere, why una dey disturb us here.. That is not how to solve a problem.. |

I gave this guy d job because i saw d work he did for some people, just about 10 mins walk from my site... I am saying this to let you know that artisan and nigerians generally are increasingly having this mindset of NOTHING GO HAPPEN... michlins: Good morning everyone. This was what happened.
When she made contact, I asked her if she wanted a commercial door or personalized door and she chose the later. I showed her samples and she made a choice. When I told her the price, she called me on phone to negotiate and I explained in details what materials I will work with and I specifically mentioned plain pan.
She was part of the building process as she receives daily update on what I was doing which includes more than two pictures at a time. After painting the doors, that's why she started the issue. I was still explaining to her on WhatsApp why the door can't have the design on the back but she rushed here. The reasons are as follows;
The size of pipe is 1½" and that design takes up 1¼" so there's no space at the back to do anything else.
Another thing is weight. Already that door is very heavy as it is due to the materials which are basically wrought iron. 14mm wrought iron was used to make the design. Adding more weight will affect the frame and hinges.
I even gave her an offer. I told her if anyone else will do that same door for 80,000 in Lagos, I will dash her 50,000 for inconveniences. The only reason I wanted to do the job for her at the price even with significant looses was to advertise my business here and around her estate and I told her that even before I started. Calling me a fraud and cheat wasn't what I expected.
At this point, I regret taking the job. AT this point, what readily comes to my mind is the word of a popular novelist, OLIVER GOLDSMITH. "We stoop to conquer"...As a biz man, you really do not need all this shalaye, are you trying to "win" you customer or you're trying to impress we the onlookers, you dont even know 99% of us here...Reach out to her and "stoop to conquer".....If you have done so, please do it again and reach out to people who can do it again in your behalf....Michlin is not a CHEAT...Things were clearly misunderstood, it happens all the time in your line of business... This situation can be remedy, if both of you really want to. |

DMechyy: - Nobody deserves to drive Uber - There are better things you can do with your life - Create a job, and be a CEO -As a young graduate, you should be applying to well paying job - Stop being an ant.
Let me give you street update.
* Nobody deserves to stay hungry *The Nigerian factor, and experience affects everything.
Have you ever met a KPMG graduate trainee, or a Banks graduate trainee? Or your juicy oyel company recruit?
No, they dont work 9am to 5pm. You work 4am to 12am, sometimes, you dont have time for brunch.
You see people getting paid 40k per month, working harder than the above listed group. Have you met all this delivery bike riders, they do such risky job for peanuts, and work into the nights!
This position has been over flogged. Drive with a goal. And a mindset. I am driving for 2 years, and intend to raise 7 million, to fund xo xo and xo hustle. Markus Villig has only one head, started bolt when he was 19, and he is just 28 ,sadly life don score you first goal by being a Nigerian and living in Nigeria. The truth is, you are you! not Villig, you have an idea that keeps you awake, pursue it. Being an ant or working at KPMG will only keep you being an ant. You will never fufill you that way.
There is dignity in Labor, you should never be ashamed of what you do. There is nothing wrong in being a bolt driver! It is rewarding, it puts food on the table! You are a tough guy, That's who a tough guy is, you wake up to drive, show up, and provide for your family. And not everybody is going to be a Zuckerberg.
In all, let's remember this, dissenting views and variety makes the world go round. Respect other peoples opinion. There is no need for the cussing and bad blood, it is too much negative energy.
This life no hard. Be peaceful! This is the real STREET UPDATE... Not the textbook mechant!!! I will like to read more comment from you... |

If you quote 100k to finish a job and youre paid, ENSURE you finish it! What about labor charges...my bricklayer quoted 200k for labor, i told him to charge me based on d number of blocks, which is d standard around the area, he insisted that he doesn't do that, well i paid him, did d job to about 90% and started asking for more money, unfortunately have paid 100%, na so e abandon job o.. diordaves: There are clients that are bad market. This you should know. So to filter out bad market, next time these are processes you should carry out before moving to site:
#1. If the client is from Nairaland, look up for how long they've been on Nairaland. If they've been on Nairaland for a good length of time, take some comfort in that. Good information about their personality will be here on Nairaland by their posts and the forums they frequently visit. Be wary of those who register today, today to contact you for work. Just be wary. It doesn't mean this is not possible. Just be wary because you don't know jack about them. ALWAYS research your client upfront before accepting any job. Ask them for their name. I will come to 'name' again in point three.
#2. Be attentive to the way they address you or talk to you in messages. Be wary if they are unduly and unnecessarily harsh in their communication to you. As if they are doing you a favour. It is not a favour. It is a working relationship. Yes, you are soliciting for work, but you have a right to be addressed with some respect and kindness. All that ORDER to come to site or forget the job is not necessary. It is a tell-tale sign of a tortuous job and a potentially difficult client going forward. And there are difficult clients out there. I speak as a client.
#3. ALWAYS ask for a mobilization fee BEFORE moving to site. This is standard and good practice. Any client that argues with this na bad market. Move on. I have said previously in researching the client you should ask for their name. If you ask for a mobilization fee and they agreed, make sure payment is by bank transfer and that the payment account details match with the name the client told you. If the bank details don't match for some reason (maybe the client is abroad and they don't have a Nigerian bank account), ask more questions about who made the payment and ask to communicate with whoever made the payment. Your client should KNOW you in true colour and same as you.
Don't be desperate to please to land a job. On the flip side, if a client asked you to come to a site that is so far away for investigation or consultation with a potential view of awarding you the job, ask for a reasonable non-refundable fee in lieu of the cost of visiting the site and tell the client that this fee is non-refundable if you do not get the job eventually but if you got the job, this fee is included in the final fee. Hmmn, artisan is well covered here, but what about client... Am also scared and worried about you the same way you are about me, and its my money that is involve.... Artisan is also a stranger to client, the same way client is a stranger to artisan... I have contacted a builder on NL outside lagos b4, chatted for like a week or so, everything went on smoothly, we agreed on price, i made preparations for accommodation and i was sincerely ready to kickstart d project then until he ask that i should send money for him and his artisan for transport, and also that his artisan is saying he must get an upfront so as to leave some cash for his family, na so i vex, everything broke down and we both moved on... I was recently scammed then so my alertness was still very high, eyes still dey red.. You see all this stuff you wrote there, na naija we dey, it wont really work if followed religiously, there must be a balance, somewhere.. Remember we are both taking risk, both client and artisan. #myExperience. |

n3xt: This is 0.55
I can confidently tell you a good installation will give you 100% peace of mind. I used 0.35 gauge on two of my personal build over 9 years ago. We’ve not had to do any maintenance on the roof since it was installed.
Though, we may be quick to say 0.35 gauge a decade ago is the same as 0.50 gauge now. The truth remains there are folks who did their install about the same as mine that have had to replace, repair and reinstall their roofs.
I know someone who replaced his roof almost 3 times in 4 years.
It’s actually an installation issue not really the gauge.
______
Though a lower gauge will most likely have nail point leak issue faster than higher gauge but that doesn’t make it more vulnerable. Can you recommend someone that can do a flat roof for me.. Someone that will do a good job. |

abefeabebi: Great house, just to share my experience so far in this hustle. Started this hustle around September without any experience in e hailing at all, I was lucky to see a tokunbo car for 2million on HP from a family friend. Corolla 03 to be precise. am working in a government school, so I only work on weekends and I was able to pay 1.5m for the car within 11month after paying 500k up front before taking the car. Today am signing my car paper as owner right now. Now I can say I am financially independent, bcs with this am rest assured of seeing something meaningful every weekend.
Thanks to Mr Felicity for giving some tips back then, and thanks to others that share their experiences here all the time. I don't joke with this thread,I always use this thread to relax every night for the past 3years even ever before joining the hustle,it's really helped me so much.
Now we move, slow and steady Congratulation brother.....Now is the time to double your hussle...You know what, just assume in your head that you have not FULLY paid for that car, continue to work as twice hard as before, depending on your age though.. You know what i'll do? I'll set another MILESTONE from today, it could be a land, it could be another car, etc Just set a target for yourself, the same way you set that target of 1.5m which you have made today! Remain focus, prayerful and you shall be bless, in no time! And being financially independent, bros i don't think so, not yet! |

You see falling over themselves over 30k npower n probably less than 150k frsc job.
I wish us all well. Honestly, they dont know and i wish they dont learn it the hard way.. Like i said earlier, someone rejected a 100k job offer from me because he prefers driving, he makes more and he's on rental.. If you think those riders you pick up everyday are doing better than you because they're on shirt and tie, with d figures i see here, then you're a joker.. Better take this hussle very seriously, because you are actually earning more than most of us in Victoria island/Ikoyi/Lekki/Ikeja...and if you think its stressful due to malaria/police/lastma wahala on d road, come to the OFFICE and see bigger wahala.. You wake up on ur own time and term, you decide where to drive to, you decide to park and take lunch, at any time, anywhere, you CLOSE anytime, and you decide to work or sleep the next day. Great flexibility, dont lose it.. Hustle and get your own CAR.... Read my post for the last one week, i have lost about 70k within d last 6 days, just because my office cant give me just 3 hours to quickly go supervise a proj and some boys i put on it. But you, you're making d money and yet highly flexible.. Again, FLEXIBILITY, dont lose it for peanut.. Well, I picked the woman saw marina but told her “ma’am I can’t park around UBA oh but I’ll park inside oando”

Madam was so happy to the point she gave 5k to petrol attendant to fill my vehicle come see drama and cry of joy… This is so loving to hear, you have proved to us that not all Nigerians are criminals...May God bless you abundantly for this. I remember one of my few trip on uber as a driver, a lady forgot her two phone, one samsung and one iphone, very expensive gadget like that. It was around 9pm and that was my last trip for the day...I did not notice until the next morning when i was about to step out, i saw over 50 miss calls and several text messages on both phone, my personal line was switched off tru out the night. First prob was trying to figure out which of my rider. I called her, returned her phone, if you see prayer from her, her parent, brother etc..Since then, we have been friends, one of her brother works with us now and shes the biggest customer in one of my wife's side hussle. I could'nt have traded that for two stupid phone! When you do the right thing, it comes with one INNER peace and rest of mind..Don't allow any one package fraud to you as "lesson" as one boy did earlier. |

dapotemi: Please, i was just inform now that the guys that will dig my soakaway are requesting for 45k last....It will be 12 by 8.....depth will be 10 ft.. Please whats the average price for this....They will also use the sand to fill some shops am erecting just beside it. All is 45k..Location is mowe. About a week ago, i ask this question and got a positive feedback that its ok... Well, the guy strated work on tuesday, he was paid 20k at d end of the day, to balance 25k at d end of his work, got a guy beside my site to help monitor him and i paid him 5k, just to monitor.. My digger no show face since he finish work on tuesday.. Hes not picking his call.. Someone saw him and they ask him why he has not gone to finish his work, he told them the ground is too hard... I gave this guy d job because i saw d work he did for some people, just about 10 mins walk from my site... I am saying this to let you know that artisan and nigerians generally are increasingly having this mindset of NOTHING GO HAPPEN... We need them (i cant dig soakaway even if you give me one year), we must devise a new method to face this new challenge, its increasingly worrisome. |

micgray100: I understand you bro.. that is why I am asking for a refund of just 100k .... if twinskenny brings in his 35k tracking money and we have people like you on the forum that can help with 50k... matter don settle... I will count my remaining losses... like I said earlier.. This is a lithmus test for us all here on this forum... we should avoid it so it won't be a trend on this forum where artisan will collect money and tell you to go and bring your police.. You are angry Engr, and its within your right to be... And from what i have read here so far, its obvious you are not willing to part with any extra fund.. To the house, you see, perhaps engr is not happy even with the level of work done so far, if he does not like d work done, it might be difficult to ask him to pay more, maybe he just want to count his loss, collect what he can and move on.. Twinskenny, truth be told, you really mess up sha, one thing is to give a referral, another thing is to COLLECT money for the job... People go this far only if they have a cut or percentage, but you claim you have none, so why do this.. The truth is, you are responsible for this contract and you shoukd do everything to redeem it, even if it means paying 100k to micgray. We must be responsible for our actions and inaction and i wonder why d ELDERS here are beating around d bush.. Micgray, pls be ready to make concessions, you should be used to stuffs like this, its common in ur proffession... Make una forget Police abeg, they will only complicate matters, atleast at this stage. |

n3xt: Why is it that we hardly see a client ask their contractor/subcontractor/artisans “Is money the problem?”
I know I’ve had to deal with issues where the client tell his contractor “Shebi, you saw it before you gave me estimate?” “I paid you what you asked me!” “That’s my budget.”
Let’s reflect on this.
________
If you buy iron rod at N100k per ton last month and the same cost N200k this month, would you buy it or tell the supplier that’s what you budgeted for the project and you’re not paying more?
If you DIY your project and one of your tool of trade got faulty in the process, will you spend additional cost to repair the faulty equipment/tool or chose not to shift ground until the equipment maybe fixed itself?
Why then do we dramatically hold different standards for owner-managed projects and contractor-managed projects?
_________
Before you say contractors/professionals should know, “How many of us knew the cost of steel will go up by almost 80% in just 6 months?”
How many of us knew the price of 9 inches block will increase to N300 + in less than 8 months?
Let’s stop fighting each other and start dealing with the harsh realities of the Naija economy.
__________
Happy New Month! Its practucally a TRUST issues.. Trust deficit is on the rise, especially or in relation to owner/contractor/engineer... We dont trust, even ourselves.... If you quote 100k to finish a job and youre paid, ENSURE you finish it! Most especially if its a small project that can be done with within a very short time, maybe in big proj we might have to consider some kind of variations.. So my job wont suffer, had to pay extra. The tin pain me sha....The problem is TRUST. |

Uniquewise: I got so many Mentions! Both negative and positive! I was occupied all day yesterday, couldn't even come to WhatsApp until late in the night.
It's all good though. Most importantly is that this helps me to improve my services to people.
And here's saying THANKS to everyone, friends and foes and "criticize-ers" (both those who call me out genuinely in order to see positive changes, and those who do so because they can't help being who they are, lol).
Special appreciation goes to Afolabyte, this man here helped me see something I wasn't considering prior to him asking for stuff via Whatsapp. I'm glad I took his advice, and Yes, he was very nice in his approach.
And Oktane, I don't know you, but Thanks for believing in me.
Good morning everyone, and I'm ready to serve us today.
I got lots of nice new stuff for sale. Pls reach out and make your enquiries.
WhatsApp Only. 08133056804 I like your CONSISTENCY here...You're really showing off and i like it... I also love the fact that you're responding well to criticism....One thing that is sure about you is that you have been given us quality stuff, and very nice products..I have criticize you here before (check my old post to confirm,,lol); but nevertherless, you're doing well. I once had a chat with you for a small product that you told me it has been discounted already; i know i can get it cheaper elsewhere, so i moved on, instead of coming here to knock you down! Perhaps you dont know; some of the nice stuff you put here are damn expensive to be refer to as a clearance product; but i know you can be lost in the euphoria of getting the right prices for all the items you post here (you post ALOT you know); and might not get some things right; but nevertherless; research more on those prices; talking to the REAL OWNER as if you are the one buying from them, price it really well knowing fully well you're coming to re-advertise on a CLEARANCE thread; its a win-win situation; if everything is done right! Madam, please continue to thrive....And to everyone, the truth is most of this product are actually not very expensive; it's a problem of revenue, we are not making ENOUGH money, yes, all of us! That's why most thing appear expensive..May God in his mercy lift all of us, higher and higher...#OnlyPositivity |
