Uptheante:The Bible doesn’t support the reincarnation concept that some denominations hold dear. Ecclesiastes 9:5,6 JTB made it clear at John 1:21 that he wasn’t Elijah in flesh. John only did the kind of work foreshadowed by Elijah, hence “Elijah's spirit and vigour” was upon him. Malachi 4:5,6; Matthew 17:10-12 compare Luke 1:17 |
Several translations render the Greek word ‘parousia’ as ‘coming’ at Matthew 24:3 but that rendition tends to limit the actual meaning of the word from being understood. The normal Greek word for ‘coming’ is ‘érchomai’ but this doesn't appear in either Matthew 24:3, 1Corinthians 15:23 or 1Thessalonians 4:15 rather the Greek word ‘parousia’ which means ‘presence’ does. Hence, the most apt meaning of the word ‘parousia’ indicates an arrival first, then a subsequent presence. Matthew 24:7 & Luke 21:11 show the events what would take place at the presence of the Son of man which has been happening for quite some time now. compare Psalm 110:2 & Revelation 6:2-8 |
We know the ‘park the bus’ strategy works very fine with Mourinho but when it comes to the tactical evolution of football which Pep propels, I’m afraid Mourinho just doesn’t cut it. |
livingchrist:That’s not important for now. The question haddeylium posed is still there for you to attend to. |
Good morning. nairalandankrah:Well, even Jesus said he used symbolic language in most of his illustrations. Matthew 13:10-13, Mark 4:34 Other parts of the Bible attest to the fact that some aspects of it are written in figurative language as well. 2Peter 3:16, Revelation 1:1 In fact, almost the entire book of Ezekiel features some illustrations and enactments that cannot be taken literally if it should be understood. While they follow the teachings and example of Jesus Christ and honor him as their savior and the son of God, they believe that Jesus is not God and that there is no scriptural basis for the trinity doctrine...The facts is that Jesus himself never mentioned that he was God. Mark 10:18, John 14:28, 20:17 His faithful disciples addressed him as the Son of the living God. Matthew 16:16, John 20:31 see Luke 1:32 also. Jesus is the firstborn Son of all of God's creation. Colossians 1:15-16 and God has other spirit sons including Gabriel. Job 38:7, Hebrews 1:7 Jehovah's Witnesses believe that only 144,000 people will go to heaven and that all the other people who obey God will live forever in their various countries..If I should ask you these questions: 1. What are those going to heaven going to do there? Because the Bible says they're going for an assignment. 2. At what point did God change his mind that humans should now occupy the heavens since the Old Testament makes no mention of anyone ascending to heaven? Compare John 3:13 3. The hundreds of millions of angels that God created weren't enough to occupy the heavens, so God somehow needs humans there to do what? Would you be able to answer these questions? |
Nazgul:The highlighted shows that you're hungry for spiritual truths and it's commendable. Matthew 5:3 But you see, to satisfy that urge it is essential to locate the right source because just anybody out there can claim to be a Christian. Such a person might even own a Bible and claim that he reads and uses it. Often, he'll tend to misapply and miscontrue scriptures in an effort to put up an argument. Is his example different from a mechanic who lacks technical skills and even attempts to fix a motor engine with a car jack? That's the same case with a so-called Christian who cannot use the Bible effectively. Matthew 7:21-27 The title of our thread asks, in effect: Where do we go when we die? which is a very straightforward question. The simple answers to that question are found at Genesis 3:19, Psalm 146:4 & Ecclesiastes 3:20. Meanwhile, the first question you should be asking is why we die in the first place which MaxInDHouse has already answered for you so I need not get into all of that. Romans 5:12 OP all you need to do is welcome a visit(by telephone) from one of Jehovah's Witnesses. They'll handle any other question that's bothering you. Like MaxInDHouse has already done above, another Witness in your area of local residence will take it up from where he stopped and will guide you to more fountains of spiritual truths which will in turn set you free from falsehoods. John 8:32 |
MaxInDHouse:Lol maybe we should call Emusan to help him out or that his other childish counterpart, freshboy abi what is his name. |
livingchrist:One is a literal location, the other is not. Have you answered haddeylium’s question yet? |
livingchrist:If Jesus’ spirit went to hell then it means that “hell” is synonymous to the hands of his Father, right? Luke 23:46 Let me confuse you, if Jesus’ spirit went to the grave as we have agreed, then where did his body go? Note: I'm intentionally using ‘grave’ in small letters because it has two meanings according to the Scriptures. |
haddeylium:He has to keep up otherwise he’ll lose his relevance here just as Emusan lost his. |
livingchrist:And who told you that hell is different from the forged “hellfire”? I usually thought both are the same in your churches? So it's not until you saw Revelation 20:14 where this same “hell” was thrown into a “lake of fire” before you decided to readjust abi? |
MaxInDHouse:I think it would be best to terminate discussion with this man because what I fail to understand is why someone will openly—on the same thread—contradict himself for 3 to 4 times or more. You begin to wonder if his brain is malfunctioning or whether him just wan dey whine you. |
livingchrist:Who is a “born again” Christian? Although churchgoers have several views(not surprising), one view seems to be very common. Churchgoers view: A “born again” person is someone who has gone for “altar call” and places hand on his chest to recite some words. The Bible’s view: A “born again” Christian is someone who has been born from water and spirit meaning that he has undergone water baptism and chosen/anointed by God’s holy spirit to be a Kingdom heir(Romans 8:14-17) so that if he remains faithful ’til death(2Peter 1:10), he’ll be adopted as a spirit son of God. Luke 20:34-36 If I remember vividly, it was you, Em.usan and Blabberm.outh who backed out & dodged the discussion. You fail to see how much you contradict yourself right? You claim Jesus is still flesh in heaven and yet you continue to say this too. If he didn’t need blood anymore then he wasn't human anymore after his resurrection. Period. Hebrews 2:14 Because if Jesus is still flesh then he has a corruptible body. 1Peter 1:3-4 1Corinthians 15:42-44,49 and Philippians 3:21 explains that those who will share in the same kind of resurrection with Jesus will have incorruptible, spirit bodies. If Jesus is flesh and corruptible as you claim, then it would cancel out 1Peter 1:3-4 and those who will be chosen will never have incorruptible bodies. It seems to me that John 3:6 has been giving you headache ever since. |
livingchrist:If it’s the same human life he resurrected with, then you must also accept the following: 1. His baptism at the River Jordan was a charade and a joke because that would mean he was never anointed by God’s holy spirit. Matthew 3:17, Mark 1:9 Because according to Jesus, anyone born of spirit is SPIRIT. John 3:6 2. His sacrifice was in vain and his blood was never poured out meaning our sins cannot be forgiven. Hebrews 9:22 3. He resurrected as a full human with flesh and blood and hence, never inherited God’s Kingdom. 1Corinthians 15:50 This is where your assertion has landed you. Mr livingchrist, why do you choose to overstep God’s word because of your faulty traditions? Matthew 15:3 |
Nuttella:That's because I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses, madam. The “new heavens” and the “new earth” doesn't suggest that this present earth will be destroyed(Ecclesiastes 1:4) After all according to Peter's analogy, the old “heavens” and the old “earth” in Noah's day were destroyed but our planet did not go anywhere. 2Peter 3:5-7 Revelation 7:1-8, 14:1-5 states that a 144,000 are bought from amongst mankind and they stand with the Lamb(Jesus Christ) on the heavenly Mount Zion so they will rule from heaven OVER the earth. Read Revelation 5:9-10 The link below can help you understand what the “new heavens” and the “new earth” truly stand for https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2006361 |
Nuttella:NOTE: Spirits were not created immortal so they can be destroyed. God gives blessings to his children and Satan as the ruler of the darkness of this world steals it, Satan cannot give blessings and glory. He is a theif, Satan cannot raise the dead too. All he does is perversion.Read Matthew 13:22 & Luke 4:6 The blessings that God gives his people has nothing to do with material possessions or worldly success/pursuits. Proverbs 10:22, 1Timothy 6:6 So where in that Bible passage did the angel say Daniel's prayer was withheld by a demon? ![]() |
Nuttella:According to Peter, David is still in the dust of the earth awaiting a resurrection here on earth. Acts 2:29-34 see also Isaiah 26:19 Since heaven wasn't promised to anybody, I will like to know where their spirit went to after their death?Their spirit[breath/spark of life] returned back to God. Ecclesiastes 12:7b see also Psalm 146:4 But they themselves that were molded from the dust returned back to the dust of the earth. Genesis 3:19, Ecclesiastes 12:7a Jesus said only those born of spirit meaning those who are chosen by God's holy spirit on basis of his blood will go to heaven and become heirs alongside him. John 3:3-6 see also Luke 12:32 Those going to heaven are a small group of “chosen” ones numbering into a 144,000 DOT and they are going there for a reason and this is what you people do not understand. 2Timothy 2:12 Revelation 14:1-5, 20:6 The rest of mankind which will be an uncountable number will inherit the earth as Jesus also affirmed. Matthew 5:5 see also Psalm 37:29 |
Nuttella:Angels weren't created immortal that's why Satan and his horde of demons can be exterminated. Genesis 3:15, Romans 16:20, Hebrews 2:14, Revelation 20:10 Get the right perspective. An angel[spirit son of God] was the one speaking to Daniel at Daniel 10:12-14 The “glory” of this world belongs to Satan that's why he can give it out as he wishes. Luke 4:6 So what do you classify under “blessings” and “glory”? Riches? Power? Influence in the society? |
Nuttella:I'm sorry but to make heaven after God placed him in the garden of Eden on EARTH? Genesis 2:8 ![]() After Adam sinned and rebelled against God's direct order(Genesis 2:17), he returned to the dust of the ground he was taken out of. Genesis 3:19 Case closed. Heaven wasn't promised to anybody in the Old Testament because God created the earth as man's permanent home. Genesis 1:28, Isaiah 45:18 So the hundreds of millions of angels God created before he made the earth are not enough to occupy the heavens? Job 38:7, Daniel 7:10 ![]() |
Nuttella:Job 1:6 ASV “Now it came to pass on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah, that Satan also came among them.” According to Bible chronology, this happened some 700 years after a number of angels rebelled in Noah’s day and more than 2,000 after a once faithful angel became Satan. Genesis 3:1, John 8:44 Of course, God didn’t accept those rebellious angels back into his heavenly family but since they were once his faithful servants, they still bear the title “spirit son of God” for now. God also subjected them to an abased condition called Tartarus so they no longer had God’s favour. 2Peter 2:4, Jude 6 Satan and his demons are cursed, even when they told Enoch to beg God to allow them go back to heaven, God refused their request, don't you call them his sons, they are his enemies and our enemies tooI understand that this was extracted from the book of Enoch but is the boE part of the inspired words of God? 2Timothy 3:16 I have right to cast demons out (matthew 10:1) and call down fire on them. Spirits cannot die but they can lose their hold in your life and release your blessings because the devil has come to steal to kill and to destroy.Of course spirits can be destroyed. Matthew 25:41, Romans 16:20 But please can I get your understanding of what “blessings” are? |
livingchrist:Remember he gave his perfect life while in flesh so if he was raised back in flesh, it would cancel out the sacrifice. Matthew 26:26-28 |
livingchrist:Jesus existed in flesh(John 1:14, 1Timothy 3:16) before he was completely offered up as a ransom sacrifice once and for all for the forgiveness of sin. Hebrews 10:5,10-12 In the book of Leviticus, when the priests offered up the burnt and sin offerings at the altar, would the said animal be retrieved or would it have served its purpose for atonement of sins? Leviticus 5:5-13 That’s the same in Jesus’ case. By reason of being the Lamb who would take away sins of obedient humans(John 1:29), his death and resurrection had to take place so that the scriptures would be fulfilled. Isaiah 53:8-12, Daniel 9:26, Psalm 16:10 Jesus’ death served as a propitiatiory sacrifice for sins(1John 4:10)so at his resurrection, he was restored back to the same spirit state he was before coming to the earth—only this time—he was gifted immortality. John 17:5, Romans 6:9,10 |
livingchrist:That’s why I asked, what is the make up of a ‘spiritual’ body? Flesh and bones but no blood? Can you back up your claim with any scripture? And no, don’t quote Luke 24:39 because it doesn’t solve the riddle for you because Jesus was no longer human after his resurrection and according to John 21:1, he manifested himself to his disciples. The Greek word here is ἐφανέρωσεν[ephanerōsen] which means to make something visible so 1Peter 3:18 is correct that Jesus indeed was raised as a spirit(invisible) but on these occasions he made himself visible in flesh to his disciples. The Strong’s Greek even made it clear that his appearance wasn’t as a real human but apparent. Compare Genesis 18:1-8&Hebrews 13:2 |
livingchrist:But life is in the blood of an earthly creature according to Genesis 9:4 & Leviticus 17:14 so if Jesus is still human in heaven, he has blood. Do the maths. |
livingchrist:Exactly, the human has flesh, bones and blood that enables the human to live. So according to the scriptures, what is the makeup of a ‘spiritual’ body? Oh so it has flesh and bones but cannot operate with blood is that it? ![]() |
livingchrist:So what makes up the human being? The tissue called blood which represents the life says Leviticus 17:14 The bones help keep the body framework(flesh),that is we ourselves, in place? Should somebody give you an anatomy lesson? |
MaxInDHouse:I'm trying to send you an email, brother. Wanted to clarify some things. |
MaxInDHouse:I don't think he should be given attention any more because even someone whose eyes has been torn out can see the way he's contradicting himself. livingchrist: livingchrist: livingchrist: |
livingchrist:1Corinthians 2:15 “The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one.” ESV “But the spiritual man judgeth all things;and he himself is judged of no man.” Douay Rheims “The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgment.” Berean I don't think I'm the one who inputted “spiritual person” into these Bible translations. Even Amplified Bible put “mature Christian” in box brackets in that scripture. Again, that passage has nothing to do with your false claim. “Man” whether physical(carnal) or spiritual(religious) is flesh and blood according to Genesis 5:2. Or are you saying Paul wasn't flesh and blood when he wrote that letter to the Corinthians? |
livingchrist:Of course it can. In connection with 1Corinthians 2:14-15. |
MaxInDHouse:Let's deal with him gently because for now he has no knowledge about the “deep things” of Jehovah God. Job 11:7, 1Corinthians 2:10 The man has decided not to update his thinking because he's been repeating the same questions he asked over three months ago. |
livingchrist:1Corinthians 2:14-15 has nothing to do with what you just typed up there. From that verse, a person can switch between this ‘physical’ meaning ‘carnal’ man and ‘spiritual’ meaning ‘godly/religious’ man at any time. |
