FakoMaybach1: I have made up my mind, come 2019 i will vote against Buhari....if he rigs the election, or if the Yorubas decide to join the Hausas to ruin this country for 4 more years, i will leave Nigeria. What other options did the Nigerian people have at the ballot? It was between two poor candidates and they took the lesser of two evils so what are you whining about? If there is something you should be complaining about its he electoral system that entrenched two very corrupt parties in power and until there are electoral reforms Nigerians would be forced to pick between bad, worse, worst instead of good, better, best. This is what you should be concerned about instead pointing fingers at different tribes as if all individuals from the same tribe think alike and make the same choices. |

ArikeBooks: "Abiola was appalled by the insanely long queues that she saw at petrol stations as the masses struggled to obtain gasoline for their vehicles and to power their generators.
She stopped to watch the commotion.
She was puzzled by the irony of a fuel shortage in a country that produced and supplied fuel to other countries. She wondered how Nigeria could be a top-producing member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), and yet was unable to make fuel available for its own citizens.
Abiola shook her head at the incongruity."

metronaijaNG: Queues seems to have returned to many filling stations in Lagos. As at yesterday January 20th, while some of the fuel stations in Lagos were closed because they did not have fuel, others that were opened and had fuel, had so many cars queued up to buy from them. How is fuel supply is your area?
http://www.metronaija.ng/queues-back-lagos-fuel-stations/ Please, please, please PMB sell those refineries and get them off govt hands and while you're at it, please kindly persuade, Exxon Mobil and their ilk to build refineries in the country. This concept of importing oil for a country like Nigeria doesn't make sense. |

Wow! See mentality. Women have suffered in naija. I am sorry bro, but since I left my family and clung to my wife I have become one flesh with her, not my brother. So if anyone (including my parents) attacks my wife, they are attacking me and believe you me, I will rise up and defend my wife's honor and if you don't like it you are free to leave our house and never come back again. Our problem is that we dont have working refineries in the country. Until the govt sells those refineries and allows the likes of Exxon Mobil, shell and BP to build there own refineries then this will probably continue. We shouldn't have to pay for landing cost of oil in the first if we didn't have to import oil in the first place. Our problems in this country are indeed man made.

Business › Re: PAN, NSE Plan $700m Youth Empowerment Scheme by davidif: 8:18pm On Jan 18, 2018 |
BrandSpurNG: Hundreds of Nigerian youths are expected to benefit from a $700m empowerment initiative being put together by local vehicle assembler, PAN Nigeria Limited, with the support of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
The scheme, Shade Tree Youth Empowerment Initiative, is designed to provide entrepreneurial skills to interested young people within the value chain of the automotive industry, according to a statement by the auto company.
It said, “The project will provide employment generation, wealth creation, modernization and standardization of practices and skills within the service arena of the automotive industry.”
Already, the scheme would be launched at the company’s factory in Kaduna on Wednesday (tomorrow) as part of its corporate social responsibility programme.
It quoted PAN Nigeria’s Managing Director, Mr. Ibrahim Boyi, as describing the project as an industry-specific initiative for the empowerment of Nigerian youth willing to become entrepreneurs in the automotive sector.
It named the President, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Mr. Otis Anyaeji, as the Chairman of the scheme’s Board of Trustees.
The statement also said that the prototype of the STYEI garage would be inaugurated by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment, Mr. Okechukwu Enelamah.
The initiative, it added, would be supported by the United Nations Development Programme through the country director as well as other development partners.
PAN Nigeria recently promised to support the President Muhammadu Buhari administration through the creation of jobs and other measures that could speed up the development of the nation’s economy.
The PAN Nigeria’s team led by Boyi gave the pledge during a visit to the Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.
Osinbajo assured the team that the administration would always take a responsible decision that would promote and protect the local industries, including the automobile industry, indicating renewed government’s patronage of local products.
Source : https://brandspurng.com/pan-nse-plan-700m-youth-empowerment-scheme/ All this things will not be needed in the first place if the govt will simply liberalize all sectors in the economy and make Nigeria a highly conducive place for running a business. |

safarigirl: You have standards, that is why you are still single when your mates have kids in secondary school already.
Having 'standards' is one of the reasons a lot of people are single, especially when the standards have to do with superficial things like who dey wear wig and who no dey wear wig.
See some people here praising the guy, if things were turned around and Genevieve said she cannot date men that have beards, some people would have jumped on her and taunted her about her single status Wait? You know people in their 20's with kids in secondary school already? Who is raising the men of this generation? |

maximunimpact: Members of the Red Card Citizens Movement led by Oby Ezekwesili @obyezeks paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Chairman INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu and Members of the Commission to discuss issues relating the Electoral Process. The red card movement is a political movement founded by Former minister Oby Ezekwesili which her main objective is to stop the country's ruling party, the All Progressive Congress, APC as well as the main opposition party, the PDP.
While heralding the #RedCardMovement, she said; “Enough is enough,” through her Twitter handle @obyezeks.
“My political agenda is simple. I shall actively campaign against APC and PDP in the 2019 elections except in rare cases where they field new minds with a strong record of public interest.
“I shall actively campaign for the best candidates of all other parties in the elections.
“My individual effort to campaign against APC and PDP in the 2019 elections may not amount to much, but it is at least a definite expression of my personal conviction.
“My conviction is that it is time to end the tyranny of rulership of a wicked minority political elite class,” she wrote.

While i am impresed that an African leader can come up with this, i am bothered by how realistic this project is because at best, this will be a long term project for an impoverished state that barely generates revenue. Left to me, education funding should be a partnership between the local govt and the state govt not solely by the state govt. This top down approach we have had towards everything in this country is why implementation is so poor. Decision making and execution should be localized and should involve input from the people they intend to serve. Also, as well respected as the Finnish educational system is, why should we adopt an educational system that doesn't believe in giving kids homework or giving standardized test for students (e.g WAEC) until they are 16? How else will we know he schools that are failing or suceeding? Is that good for a poor and underdeveloped state with such a high illiteracy rate and poor educational apparatus? They truly need to think this through and do a lot of reseearch and consultations before embarking on this? On a positive note, at least there is a governor who finally understands that things are untenable and something has to be dine about it. I didnt know there were African leaders this visionary. |
