honour7:Most of the very few infrastructural projects he has embarked on since 2017 are very substandard. The about 12 km road total he did in my home town in his first term are full of failed portions right now. Same with many other towns. I can upload pictures to prove my claim. He has totally abandoned the state's primary and secondary schools renovation project which Oshiomhole initiated and vigorously pursued to the extent that at least two primary schools and two secondary schools are completely renovated with state of the art materials in every village in all of the 18 LGAs in the state. What he only does is to repaint the ones done by Oshiomhole and attach a signboard of his picture at the entrance gate. |
zoedew:Even though I am not actively interested in Delta State politics and issues of the quality of governance there like I do about some other states, I was amused when I saw some Deltans accusing Oshiomhole of godfatherism and desire to continue living on Edo State resources while looking away from the more vicious, older and more pernicious Ibori's permanent godfatherism and continued looting in Delta State. |
Vickyvice:Care explaining how Oshiomhole messed up and yet you want him to rule Delta State and "mess" it up too? With Delta being traditionally PDP, an Oshiomhole can't win any election there. |
sotall:Well, unlike you, I am not making any claim with certainty. So I should be the one asking you to remain around with your pen till then for claiming with 100% certainty that Tinubu will lose. |
sotall:Obasanjo won in 1999 without the votes of the entire South, so your threat of SS and SE rejection of Tinubu is not efficacious as long as Tinubu has his SW and wins the North where he is rightly currently doing the underground work even more than Atiku. SS and SE also voted against Buhari in both 2015 and 2019 but with the SW and North in his bag, he won. I therefore think you should be more concerned about how Tinubu will fare in the North than in the SS and SE which usually record the lowest voter turnout. |
sotall:Did you notice that Tinubu isn't even seeking endorsements in the SE and SS? He is rather focused on the North where he knows the votes really come from. I lived in the North for 10 years and studied their political culture closely and deeply both as individuals and as a tribe. They believe in political gratitude and would stay all day in the sun and rain to vote for someone whom they believe fought for their interest when it was being endangered. I experienced it from them myself. Most Southerners who assume that Northerners just blindly vote for their own actually have never lived long enough in the North to know how their minds work. In both 2011 and 2015, it wasn't actually the turn of the South according to the PDP zoning arrangement. Jonathan killed zoning and ate deeply into the North's turn. Tinubu rescued them and they are not likely to pay him back with denial. Let's though wait for time the ultimate judge. |
sotall:You said and I quote "No one ever did that before 2015" Had it been you wrote "No one even did that since 1999", this shift in position by you would have cut it. But even at that, nothing makes this political dispensation special because the instances I sighted were equally had under democratic eras. Then most importantly, as far as no Southerners sat on a roundtable in 1999 to agree on an all-South political solidarity henceforth, your theory of separation of situations and circumstances is watered down completely. No time frame or change in circumstances is too long or much to pay people back for their earlier wrong else you too wouldn't have been talking about paying back a wrong Tinubu "did" to you in 2015 which is a whooping seven years ago now under a totally different circumstance. Tinubu never signed any eternal agreement with any Southerner on political solidarity. The likes of Amaechi even came out openly to fight Jonathan dirty yet he is currently being promoted for president by some youths of the SS and you are okay with it. |
sotall:Per the bolded, I want to believe you are just trying to be politically correct. So the Edwin Clark who, by his own confession, started the game of forging political alliances with the North against the South is not a Southerner? The Azikiwe and Okotie-Eboh who pioneered, in a post colonial Nigeria, the act of a rejecting the proposed all-South alliance aimed at crushing the North's born to rule philosophy in the bud wasn't a Southerner? The same Azikiwe who repeated it in 1979 through his last minute pull out of the proposed UPN-NPP alliance for the NPN-NPP alliance which saw Alex Ekueme becoming Shagari's running mate wasn't a Southerner? Then Arthur Nzeribe who helped Gowon import arms which the Federal side used to fight Biafran soldiers and kill millions of innocent civilians during the war was not a Southerner? Then the likes of Daniel Kanu, Artthur Nzeribe and Uche Chukwumerijie who worked with Abacha to kill June 12 actualization were all Northerners, right? Why are you wasting your comedy talents online when the likes of I go Die and Teju Babyface are smiling to the banks with millions everyday with their dry and inferior jokes to yours? |
sotall:The analogy you are trying to draw here doesn't exist because in the national level politics, there is nothing like South. What we have always had since even before independence were; 1. The Present SE and SS colluding with the North to hound and spite the SW 2. The SW too colluding with the North to do exactly same to the present SE and SS. It was only in 2011 that for the first time there was a semblance of an all-South alliance and it was the SW that sacrificed for it by ditching their own party's candidate, Ribadu, to vote for Jonathan who ended up alienating the SW on getting to power hence the SW paid him back by going with the North in 2015. |
hotseat:But Oshiomhole himself messed up very terribly for anointing and railroading Obaseki into Osadebe House in 2016 in defiance to advise from all well meaning Edo State stakeholders and Bini sons which knew Obaseki better than he himself. Both Oba Erediawa and Edaiken of Uselu (Now the incumbent Oba) warned him too but he had become too self-opiniobated and overbloated in his ego to even give a deep thought about their words of caution. Shortly after Oshiomhole made known his unilateral and actually undemocratic choice of Obaseki, he had the cause to attend the APC caucus meeting of my LGA in which one of the party members raised the issue of his poor and uninformed choice of Obaseki again. You need to have been in that meeting to see how Oshiomhole insulted the hell out of him for expressing his skepticism about the party's future with an Obaseki governorship. You would be surprised to hear that till now Oshiomhole has never reached out to that man to apologize in the wake of his vindication since 2020. As if his choice of Obaseki by personal fiat wasn't bad enough, Oshiomhole proceeded to pull Philip Shuaibu, a native of Etsako West LGA like himself, from the Federal House of Representatives, and imposed him on the party as running mate to Obaseki again in defiance to complaints of better hopefuls from Akoko-Edo and Owan assuming Edo-North must produce the deputy governor. INEC had to waste funds to conduct a fresh election for Philip Shuaibu's replacement at the green chambers on account of Oshiomhole's recklessness of choice. Then the worst of all: in an attempt justify his unpopular choice of Obaseki against every common sense reasoning, Oshiomhole came out in public to lie with a straight face that when his mandate was stolen for Osariemen Osunbor by Obasanjo in 2007, Obaseki was the one who footed the bill of all the litigation and forensic experts service in the battle to retrieve the mandate despite the fact that every politically active person in Edo State knew that the same Ize-Iyamu whose image he was busy dismantling at that moment was the one who made it possible for him to clinch AC ticket in the first instance that year and also did the job of soliciting for the resources to prosecute the court cases while Obaseki was a relatively unknown stockbroker far away in Lagos who was yet to be involved in Edo State politics let alone make donations towards it. Apart from Ize-Iyamu who did most for Oshiomhole's rise to power, others like Pius Odubu, Ogiemwonyi, etc who equally sacrificed for Oshiomhole's becoming Edo governor were all available, qualified and very capable to succeed him, but none of them appealed to his senses except a potential traitor whom he never knew from Adam. So with all the foregoing, Oshiomhole's own ingratitude and hubris contributed substantially to his political tragedy. Therefore, much as Obaseki is a mistake and disaster to Edo State, Oshiomhole himself carries the blame for bringing him up against all odds and tenets of gratitude to those who really deserved to have succeeded him in the quest for a genuine continuation of his developmental administration. |
oneunited:Ogbane oooooo! Towargba! 4+4. No to godfatherism. Edo no be Lagos. All of them are receiving the brush of the Ogbane show they voted for. AAU lecturers received theirs and they went on strike even before the national ASUU strike. Edo PDP received theirs as he took all political appointments to himself and started fighting for their structure. Wike recently received his and retorted with video bombardment. Now it is the turn of the civil servants who queued behind him. The cane is going round one after the other. |
Terrence99:Don't generalize that way. As a native of Edo State, I am not daft even though I agree with you that voting for Obaseki's second term was a very myopic and emotion-driven decision by those who did. I don't agree with you that there was any pro-Ipob sympathy underlying that decision courtesy of the fact that the average Edo person detests Ipob and Biafra more than even the average Yoruba or Northerner. The choice was rather due to the typical Nigerian syndrome which makes voters highly susceptible to fake populist posturing by politicians as Obaseki did with his rather fake anti-godfatherism campaign slogan. Recall that nearly all Southerners fell for Jonathan's I-had-no-shoes populist gimmick in 2011 and even Buhari's Mr-Integrity gimmick in 2015. Does that mean that Nigerians are generalized daft? Didn't Oyo people too mistakenly vote for Makinde thinking they were proving a point against late Ajimobi? Does that translate to Oyo people generally being idiots? But most importantly, I am happy that Obaseki's policies and actions in this second term of his has vindicated those of us who campaigned against his second term in Edo 2020. I am just short of saying that I am happy about this sack because most of the 513 victims were all over the place shouting 'Edo no be Lagos, Ogbane, Torwagba, 4+4,...." just two years ago. Let them enjoy the government they voted for. Next time when a product of godfatherism tells them he is fighting godfatherism, they will think well before believing. |
Frigga13:Of course truth hurts. |
Frigga13:Aren't you yourself trying against reality to create the impression that the SS loves you Igbos? What some of you fail to realize is that there are even a lot more Yorubas sympathetic to both Biafra movement and Igbo presidency agitation than the SS people. The enlightened SS person has no sympathy for any socially redemptive course which Ndigbo might purse in the face of the social injustice ravaging and dragging Nigeria backwards because it is never lost on him that the seeds of all the social injustices presently eating up Nigeria and for which his SS region has been hardest hit were all sowed by Igbos..... ranging from resistance to Secession clause, subversion of the truly federal independence constitution which guaranteed 75% resource control and replacing it with this very retrogressive unitary and military constitution which has placed Nigeria on the reversed gear for over 55 years and still counting, introduction of military rule to a perfectly working democratic society anchored on a world class model system of government, use of either the British Colonial overlords' influence or federal military might to kill and crush the secession bid of different South South tribes at different times, etc. So exactly which of these vices and oppressive gestures have either Yorubas or Northerners ever been guilty of against the SS people? I thought that assertions should be based on existing facts and evidences? Else how can the SE, which has never freely produced an APC governor through the ballot, have a greater possibility of joining and working for APC than the SS which has through the ballot produced APC governors in their region four times, not to even talk of the numerous APC senators and Federal House of Reps members which emerged through very free and fair elections there? It seems you love fictional thinking a lot. |
planetE:The political disunity in the South is what makes you Northerners look like gurus of politicking. When there was a partial political unity in the South in 2011 behind Jonathan, the Northern political prowess was demystified easily. Even at independence, the South clearly defeated the North both in popular votes and MP seats but Azikiwe's shortsighted greed pushed him into selling out power to the North through that election. While it is not lost on any honest Southerner that the eternal Igbo vs Yoruba rivalry is unresolvable hence the North will always harvest it to dominate power, it is as well a fact that with a united South, a Northerner may never make it into Aso Rock. |
JOemmy:In your dreams. Any Edo State person you see willing to join Biafra is afflicted with either or both of the following: 1. Indomie generation syndrome hence an acute ignorance of how Biafra invaded Edo lands in 1967 with the intent to annex it and make it a vassal state to Biafra. 2. Poor education on the history of Edo as a people and as a land. |
Esama:Thank you my fellow Edo person. These Ipobians are so deluded. Edo State in Biafrauud? What a sacrilegious proposal! |
MadamVanessa:So you inconsistent and emotional clowns have suddenly started including Edo State in Biafrauud just because your darling PDP has returned to power in the state? So Edo State is all of a sudden no longer a Yoruba or semi-Yoruba state? Edo State people are no longer Arewanistan and Oodua arse lickers in your eyes? Edo State people are suddenly no longer betrayers of your beloved Jonathan? Edo State people are no longer a Yoruboid people? They no longer reason like Yorubas? They didn't betray or kill you in the war in 1967 anymore? So the fact that they just voted for PDP by a margin as slight as 16% in the 2020 guber election has erased all these "sins" of theirs against your Biafra? So all the insults and mountain of hate speech you have heaped on Edo State since 2015 for the "crime' of rejecting PDP is mere political blackmail all aimed at getting them to accept PDP back? Isn't it now clear that the Biafra agitation is premised on a resentment of PDP's ouster from power at the center as most pundits have always posited? Well, for your information, Edo State people are independent minded and we have always told you this but just that you always refuse to get it. Edo State will never be part of Biafra even if everyone in Edo State becomes a PDP member or supporter. Edo was a well internationally recognized sovereignty far before colonization and can therefore never allow itself to fall under a far younger post colonial sovereignty founded on emotions built on the self inflicted damage of some people's political misadventures in Nigeria. So as we have always advised you, kindly remove Edo State from all forms of Biafra classifications. Edo is likely to ditch PDP again anytime soon and it will once again become part of OduaArewanistan Republic in your unstable emotions driven perception. Edo State will never join Biafra even if all the other 16 Southern states decide to. |
Whiteangel1234:But you just said they are cowards hence not needed? So which one again is "It is what majority of Edo people say that matters"? You these Biafrauud advocates are confused and very deluded. Edo is not interested in Biafra. We have always told you this from time, only that for some delusional reasons you refuse to get it. You hate Edo and call them all sorts of name but at the same time want them in Biafrauud? It is like hating a girl with passion but still want to sleep with her all the same. Isn't that pure madness? Edo just can't be part of Biafra and I honestly don't know why you Ipobians can't understand this simple fact. Edo was an internationally recognized sovereignty even in the pre-colonial era when Biafra was yet unknown. Why you now assume that Edo will slide under an Biafra founded on Nigerian political emotions in an event of split of Nigeria remains a puzzle to common sense. Stop attaching Edo State to Biafra. It is simply annoying and irritating. |
Whiteangel1234:So you inconsistent and emotional clowns have suddenly started including Edo State in Biafrauud just because your darling PDP has returned to power in the state? These hypocrites and inconsistent clowns have started including Edo State in Biafra since PDP returned to power in the state? The same Edo State they had for 6 years continually insulted and labelled all kinds of names here on NL just because the people chose to reason independently as against the narrative that SS is PDP and PDP is SS. So Edo State is suddenly now no longer an Odua or Arewa state? It is no longer a semi-Yoruba state or part of the SW and NC as you idiots have always claimed since 2015 when Jonathan's self inflicted downfall happened? Please kindly remove Edo State from the list because you will all soon be disappointed again as events that have unfolded since your beloved PDP returned to power in Edo State have shown that the party's current reign in the state is likely to be very shortlived hence Edo State will become your enemy state and part of the SW in your eyes and emotions once again. We have always told you that Edo State will never join Biafra even if all the other 16 southern states decide to join it. Edo was a very strong and visible political entity on an international scale before colonization, so a relatively younger and unknown Biafra can never appeal to the senses of any genuine Edo State native. |
As unprincipled as FFK is, he is far ahead of this Betta Edu in terms of integrity because FFK at the point of defection at least ate his previous words and declared that he had begun to see things differently from a clearer perspective, though tongue in cheek. But without having retracted herself as regards her claims on Endsars against the APC which this Edu Betta implicitly accused of being a killer party, she just changed tune because her principal, Ayade, has crossed over and she doesn't want to lose her office as commissioner but even clinch a national position in the same party she still supposedly believe to be a killer party. And, unscrupulous and opportunistic as she has shown herself to be, she is one of the youths we are being told daily can and will bring about the new Nigeria hence should have leadership thrown on their laps. Even the so-called old cargoes aren't as openly inconsistent and shameless like some youths. |
generalwo:Don't mind them. When Tinubu was of their age he was already involved in fighting for an end to military rule, contesting for senatorial seat, etc. But right now they want him to leave political space for them just because they are youths. Idiots! |
alfsalami:This is the most sensible comment on this thread. I have always said that this sudden perception that youths taking over leadership will lead Nigeria to eldorado is very delusional and not based on any concrete reason or evidence. The unfortunate truth remains that Nigeria has since independence been ruled mostly by youths and see where we are today yet people are still wishing for youthful leadership. |
johnriley:Our forefathers genuinely worshipped at shrines and it was not because they wanted quick money. |
izubext007:Wrong. A lot of Edo State men don't believe in diabolism. Those you see doing it are few but it appears they are in the majority because they are very loud and wild. |
Kennyfancy:We know those who, out of resentment towards Edo for having been voting for APC and against PDP since 2007, are quick to manifest their hate by way of attacking Edo with accusations of treachery. So you don't need to tell me who you are. All I do here is to go through the history of a monickers posts for me to know his state of origin and ethnicity. |
wealthtrak: |
ProDigitals:Why not mention those construction companies? Or don't they have names? Does Obaseki do projects to warrant construction companies seeking attention from him? Haven't you observed that each time Wike responds to him, Wike takes an opportunity of commissioning a project done by him in Rivers State to do so while Obaseki would only go and waste taxpayers money to reply through a publication because he has no project to commission and use the opportunity to reply Wike? |
Kennyfancy:I didn't say you are from the SE. I said you are an Igbo man. Please recall that there are Igbos outside SE. |
jaxxy:This thread is between Wike and Obaseki. The person Amaechi originally had issues with was Jonathan and not Wike who only came into the fight to support Jonathan. |
PureNigerian:Then whom did Wike say tax was being collected from? Are you a native of Edo State to be speaking so authoritatively? What was the content of the brown envelopes which Obaseki distributed to the attendees of the town hall meeting in which he rationalized his refusal to sign the Anti-open Grazing bill? Was the $5,000 he himself agreed to have given out to certain PDP members each not money? So there are still people living in this lie of Obaseki being hated because he doesn't share money? Come to Edo State on a visit to see for yourself the level of stagnation, decay, filth, etc and you will be the one asking what then he is doing with the money he purportedly doesn't share. Where is is the Gelegele Seaport he promised in his 2016 campaign? No single block has been laid there and he has just two years to go. Where is Edo industrial hub? Where is the harvest from the Usugbenu and Sobe Settlement Farms into which he sank over N3bn in 2017? Why is Benin Abraka Road he started in 2017 still less than 20% completed till today? What has he done with the over N160m by which he reduced the state's monthly subvention to AAU? Why had AAU lecturers been on strike before the national ASUU strike came? Should a man who actually doesn't share money be having failed and abandoned projects all over the state? These were the issues raised by his former party but he termed it godfatherism and demand for state's resources. Is the PDP too asking him for state's resources now to warrant all that he is doing among them now? Wike attacks him in the course of commissioning projects in Portharcourt but he can't reply in the course of commissioning projects too because he really has no such projects in Edo State. He would rather waste tax payers money to reply Wike through newspaper publication. And may I ask who and who ever really asked Obaseki to share money in Edo State? If Oshiomhole wanted to survive on Edo State resources after office, then why did he refuse to sponsor a bill to Edo State House of Assembly to grant salaries and pensions to ex-governors and ex-speakers of the state as was already done in many other states like Akwa Ibom, etc? Even when those who shouted Torgba in Edo State and voted for Obaseki in 2020 are now castigating him for deceiving them with the I-don't -want-to-share-money campaign gimmick, you are still here echoing the stale and expired narrative? I ask you again; who exactly in Edo State ever asked Obaseki to share the state's resources? Even Obaseki himself couldn't ever mention one name all through the time he made that allegation. You are obviously not abreast with issues at all. |

.. not knowing that south south dislike Yoruba people much more than Yoruba hates the entire igbo blood
