Kennyfancy:I didn't say you are from the SE. I said you are an Igbo man. Please recall that there are Igbos outside SE. |
jaxxy:This thread is between Wike and Obaseki. The person Amaechi originally had issues with was Jonathan and not Wike who only came into the fight to support Jonathan. |
PureNigerian:Then whom did Wike say tax was being collected from? Are you a native of Edo State to be speaking so authoritatively? What was the content of the brown envelopes which Obaseki distributed to the attendees of the town hall meeting in which he rationalized his refusal to sign the Anti-open Grazing bill? Was the $5,000 he himself agreed to have given out to certain PDP members each not money? So there are still people living in this lie of Obaseki being hated because he doesn't share money? Come to Edo State on a visit to see for yourself the level of stagnation, decay, filth, etc and you will be the one asking what then he is doing with the money he purportedly doesn't share. Where is is the Gelegele Seaport he promised in his 2016 campaign? No single block has been laid there and he has just two years to go. Where is Edo industrial hub? Where is the harvest from the Usugbenu and Sobe Settlement Farms into which he sank over N3bn in 2017? Why is Benin Abraka Road he started in 2017 still less than 20% completed till today? What has he done with the over N160m by which he reduced the state's monthly subvention to AAU? Why had AAU lecturers been on strike before the national ASUU strike came? Should a man who actually doesn't share money be having failed and abandoned projects all over the state? These were the issues raised by his former party but he termed it godfatherism and demand for state's resources. Is the PDP too asking him for state's resources now to warrant all that he is doing among them now? Wike attacks him in the course of commissioning projects in Portharcourt but he can't reply in the course of commissioning projects too because he really has no such projects in Edo State. He would rather waste tax payers money to reply Wike through newspaper publication. And may I ask who and who ever really asked Obaseki to share money in Edo State? If Oshiomhole wanted to survive on Edo State resources after office, then why did he refuse to sponsor a bill to Edo State House of Assembly to grant salaries and pensions to ex-governors and ex-speakers of the state as was already done in many other states like Akwa Ibom, etc? Even when those who shouted Torgba in Edo State and voted for Obaseki in 2020 are now castigating him for deceiving them with the I-don't -want-to-share-money campaign gimmick, you are still here echoing the stale and expired narrative? I ask you again; who exactly in Edo State ever asked Obaseki to share the state's resources? Even Obaseki himself couldn't ever mention one name all through the time he made that allegation. You are obviously not abreast with issues at all. |
TheOgaBoss:So 58% - 42% = 16% and not 20%. Now by what kind of Arithmetic is 16% same as the 40% you earlier claimed? |
ProDigitals:That monicker didn't even capture it very well. Visit Obaseki's official Facebook page and you will see those who voted for him regretting openly on his wall. What his social media handlers now do is to keep deleting comments because most of those commentators express regrets voting him for a second term. |
jaxxy:Why feign ignorance of the details of the issue? Wike's help was open and more intense than those of all these others you mentioned. In addition, Wike is not playing any godfather over Obaseki. This godfatherism narrative of Obaseki is already stale as the world can now see that he only uses it to excuse his non-performance, greed and desire to dominate. Now that there is supposedly no godfather figure over him in Edo State, go take a tour around the state and see for yourself the stagnation, spate of abandoned projects, spate of deterioration of the few roads he did in his first term, insecurity on account of his refusal to, despite receiving security vote regularly, pay salaries to members of the Edo Vigilantee Force which he himself set up, and numerous other failures. Even Wike's current remarks that he is an MOU governor is an attestation to his non performance. It took him six years to complete a motor park. Gelegele Seaport promise is a closed chapter, no single harvest so far from the Usugbenu and Sobe Settlement Farms he sank over N3bn into since 2017. These were the things he was questioned about by his former party and he capitalized on the gullibility and simple mindedness of some ignorants to allege an attempt at controlling him. But God so kind, most of those who fell for that cheap lie are now in regret as kidnapping, bad roads, armed robbery, have become their lots in addition to them being levied by their home communities towards recruitment of teachers and security guards for the primary and secondary schools in their localities. Then what Wike is particularly miffed at is the fact that despite conceding both governor and vice to the new PDP at the point of their entry, after election, Obaseki gave all political appointments to his new PDP caucus in defiance of the earlier agreement which Wike was witness to. As if that is not enough, he proceeded to start asking to have party executive positions shared between the new and old PDP after he himself refused to share appointments with old PDP. Where on earth does that happen? Put yourself in Wike's shoes and see if you would tolerate half of that. It was exactly the same thing he did in APC and got sent out. |
TheOgaBoss:Get your facts straight before you argue. Here is the result on INEC website: https://inecnigeria.org/edo-state-governorship-election-2020-result/ He scored 58% and his opponent got 42% which was a difference of just 74,000+ votes. So how does that amount to him beating his opponent by 40%? |
chinchum:Oshiomhole is actually suffering the consequences of betraying the Oba in 2016. The Oba supported Oshiomhole throughout his reign as governor and made sure he wasn't distracted by his Bini people. But when it was time to leave office, Oshiomhole chose to annoint someone from a family which has been antagonistic to the palace. He was told clearly that his choice of Obaseki could bring his political career to an abrupt end going by historical precedent but he dismissed it as something which happened over 100 years ago hence couldn't repeat itself. |
juman:But the old PDP had held her party convention and set their structure before Obaseki and Philip Shuaibu entered yet they still shifted grounds to accommodate them. Are they now supposed to hold another convention to change the structure all over afresh? |
Euegene100001:Words like repositioning, MOU, human capital investment, etc which are all empty noise. For the man to address fundamental issues or embark fully on a capital intensive project is a problem for him. |
juman:So you expect Edo PDP to go totally naked because they should cover Obaseki and Philip Shuaibu? After conceding both governorship and deputy to them at bargain point, Obaseki and Philip Shuaibu took all the political appointments to themselves by giving them to new PDP 100%. Old PDP got nothing and you still want the same old PDP to surrender party structure to them? Put yourself in the shoes of old PDP and see if you will be able to tolerate what you seem to advocate here. |
IPIGSRDOTARDS:They have no shame. Though I don't blame them. I rather blame the idomie generation youths of Edo State and Oshiomhole himself in particular for going ahead with his choice of Obaseki in 2016 in defiance to the fatherly and wise counsel of the Oba against that choice of his. No politician in Edo State goes against the Oba of Benin either actively or passively and ends his political career well. |
Ikillbrokehoes:Exactly. Some of us were accused of resisting the paradigm shift towards the new Nigeria which Obaseki was spearheading when I, as someone who was in Obaseki's first term cabinet and saw through his duplicity, was telling them in my LGA in Edo North that we would owe Lucky Igbinedion an apology if Obaseki ever got a second term. The biggest irony was that they themselves saw how Obaseki had abandoned the primary and secondary schools renovation Oshiomhole started with a lot of speed and impact down to the most rural enclaves in each of the 18 LGAs, they saw how most of such schools were left with just two or three teachers aminst EDOBEST only for Old Boys and old Girls associations or host communities levying themselves to employ teachers into those schools but they were all blinded by the allegation of that Oshiomhole wanted them to share money. I remember asking one of them why Oshiomhole never sponsored a bill to Edo State House of Assembly for payment of pension and post-office allowances for ex governors, ex deputies and ex speakers as had been done in a lot of other states if Oshiomhole really wanted to continue living on the state's resources after office but all that didn't make sense to them at that moment. Emotions had overwhelmingly subdued reason. But here we are today. |
Christistruth00:An error is a wrong you did out of genuine ignorance and innocence of intention. What Wike and his cohorts did in Edo State wasn't an error but a wrong done on purpose with full awareness that it was a wrong but just to spite someone they felt was a threat to their political existence. Before Obaseki ever crossed over to the PDP, the likes of Wike, Dan Orbih, etc had with their own mouths correctly described Obaseki as a failure in his first term on account of his very poor performance compared with his predecessor's. But once he switched over to PDP they reversed themselves and began to shower praises of performance on him adding that he would have done more had Oshiomhole not been mounting pressure on him to share the state's resources. Let them all have a taste of the pudding from Obaseki. |
Kennyfancy:When Jonathan came up with his unpopular policy of sudden 100% subsidy removal in 2012, the only state in the entire SE and SS whose governor boldly came out to identify with Jonathan in demonstration of the SS brotherhood was Edo State. Oshiomhole, despite being of the opposition party to Jonathan's party, risked being accused of antiparty activities and stood publicly to defend Jonathan while none of the other ten SS and SE governors who were of Jonathan's party was bold enough to publicly identify with Jonathan whom they were calling their son. Obaseki family is known for betrayal and that is not representative of the generality of Edo people who have always stood for truth and principles save for certain circumstances where some of them naively fall for emotional blackmail like in 2020. But on the other hand, when Obaseki was betraying his benefactor, Oshiomhole, and showing gross ingratitude to him in the build up to the last Edo election, an overwhelming majority of those who supported him and were chanting "Edo no be Lagos" were Igbos. They supported Obaseki's treachery here on NL to high heavens while the Yorubas who did same were very few in number. So how does your assertion above find a ground in reality? People are judged not by their verbal claims but by the action they take when it really matters We all know those who betrayed all other tribes in Nigeria by executing a coup in which they killed people from all other regions except theirs despite the planning stage agreement that the killings should be indiscriminate. We remember which tribe betrayed Isaac Adaka Boro over secession which they themselves began to seek just 15 months afterwards and expecting Isaac Adaka Boro's Ijaw people to partner with them towards it. If you want to see raw and undiluted betrayal DNA, please look in the mirror. |
TheOgaBoss:He wasn't even massively voted for. Check the results. He won narrowly through the votes of the few who fell for his emotional message. |
ProDigitals:Please what is your source of this information? Oshiomhole asking Obaseki to grant countracts? So there are people who still believe Oshiomhole was trying to lord it over Obaseki even with all that Obaseki is doing now in PDP in vindication of Oshiomhole? |
SocialJustice:The quality of professionalism in an individual is seen in the results and impact of his occupancy of office. So far, Obaseki has failed Edo State woefully. In Edo State, Lucky Igbinedion has relatively become a star on account of Obaseki's woeful failure and secretive style of governance. No project. Only aidio projects like phantom Gelegele Seaport, phantom Edo North Airport, fathom 200,000 jobs, no harvest ever seen from Sobe and Usugbenu farms, etc |
Way4orward:Only MOUs everywhere. It has taken him two years to build a motor park. The Abraka Road he embarked on since 2018 is still uncompleted till this moment. By the time his tenure expires in 2024 we will owe Lucky Igbinedion a heartfelt apology. |
SocialJustice:I thought this issue of Obaseki being a technocrat has been seen through in Edo State? Please would you mind explaining why a supposed technocrat is taking six years to complete Abraka, Ekenhuan Roads while the others he completed are already riddled with failed portions? |
Indispensable85:Trust Wike. Even as at yesterday he fired a follow up salvo in which he said, in a video, that he doesn't do MOU governance in Rivers State but real governance of projects which people can feel and see. |
An ingrate must always act true to type. Wike will soon receive his own fair share of being accused of godfatherism within the PDP and "Edo no be Rivers" will soon replace "Edo no be Lagos". |
NoFucksToGive:Confused marabout. Evu Obani. Oyi a na razi yo onoto tu. |
NoFucksToGive:Mr. Lamidi Cownu slave, you are not Edo and can never be. You can continue with your cognitive dissonance and keep finding an excuse for it when boxed. I don't care. But just make sure you spew no further revisionist thrash else I will disgrace you further with hard facts. |
PDPdestroyer:Don't mind the indomie generation troll who knows nothing about the political history of Nigeria but basing his opinions on Nnamdi Kanu's propaganda mill. He claims Edo and adds that he hates Yorubas as if Edo people take sides in the Yoruba vs Igbo dichotomy. From his reckless emotions even an invalid can easily deduce he is an Ipobian masquerading as Edo. There are over 100 anti-Edo threads here on NL and I have never seen him in just one of them replying. So much for an Edo person. |
NoFucksToGive:You are a con artist. You are not Edo and you can never be. A lot of threads litter NL in which Edo is insulted and derided by Ipobian monickers and I have never seen you in any of them to respond. Thief! Go and mind your erosion ravaged statelets in the sad East. |
NoFucksToGive:See who claims he ignored a post but still came back to comment on it. Did I say that you have cognitive dissonance? Lamidi Cownu slave, please go and mind your Biafools Republic and stop faking Edo. No Edo person is that stupid to keep wailing over GEJ's loss seven years after GEJ's own Ijaw people have put the blame on his very doorstep. Even Orubebe who almost disrupted INEC declaration of results in 2015 is now in APC while GEJ himself has been an APC member unofficially. Channel this your energy in faking Edonness to calling out your beloved PDP over the 2023 ticket it morally owes you for having slaved stupidly and blindly for it for the past 23 years. Self deluded idiot! |
NoFucksToGive:My posts are not meant for your readership as already explained. So get back into your AfghanEASTern Region of baseless and illogical hate. When you have any new revisionist tale to present, you can call on me for demolition of it as usual. |
NoFucksToGive:Yes, you are of the Ipob extraction and I stand by it with the proofs I have offered. Again, I don't care if you read my posts as they aren't meant for your consumption with your closed, prejudiced and impervious mind to truths. It is rather targeted at the readership of the uninformed hence unsuspecting youths who would have otherwise taken your revisionist tales for a gospel truth if left to have a field day without anyone setting the records straight. |
NoFucksToGive:See who's talking of abusive language? So your very use of the expression 'you goofed' against me in your very first response to me on this thread was a compliment in your eyes? Aren't I vindicated for deducing that you are an Ipobian who is an offshoot of Nnamdi Kanu's penchant for abusive language but would hypocritically not be able to see how abusive his own choice of words ever are? Well, I actually don't care if you read my responses as they aren't actually targeted at you and your closed and uninformed mind of bias and baseless hate. It is rather meant for the gullible and uninformed youths who would have taken your lies and revisionist tales for a gospel truth if left unresponded to with the actual facts. |
NoFucksToGive:The mere fact that you have no use for examining evidences but are quick to resort to abusive language is a trait of Ipob. I have come across a lot of you idiots on NL. If the likes of Joe Igbokwe, Okorocha, etc whom you know in real life as Igbo but still term them as Joe Yorubakwe, Okorohausa, etc because they choose to be objective against the mainstream Igbo propaganda, is it me in a faceless forum you would not accuse of being Yoruba? It actually takes someone from a tribe suffering from inferiority complex to start saying things like "you think you are liked by us blah blah blah...". Who gives a Bleep about being liked or hated in Nigeria other than you Igbos? We know which tribe expects love in return for hate. We know which tribe concerns itself over the issues of other tribes more than those other tribes themselves. We know which tribe continued to mourn Jonathan's self inflicted defeat till today even when the Ijaw tribe and SS people which owned him had gotten over it and moved on since just a year afterwards. Even Jonathan himself has ever since leaving Aso Rock been working for the APC as both his Senatorial District and Federal Constituency in Bayelsa are currently represented by APC members courtesy of Jonathan's support which also saw APC demolish the PDP in the last Bayelsa guber election. We know the only tribe which has ignored all these manifestations of pro-APC tendencies of Jonathan but still illogically loving Jonathan and hating on APC because of the same Jonathan. No genuine SS native suffers such level of cognitive dissonance. Even Asari Dokubo who got his share of the national cake from Jonathan's presidency has severally come out to denounce his style of governance and honestly admitted that Jonathan's fall was his own making as he surrounded himself with praise singers who hid the truth from him. Even Edwin Clark the national PANDEF leader has severally severally put the blame of Jonathan's loss right on Jonathan's own doorstep. But only IPOBs have, as you have been doing here, continued to wail and mourn Jonathan's defeat even in the face of these unsympathetic utterances from most of his ardent supporters from his home SS. Jonathan had the lest votes from Edo State yet an Ipobian who suddenly grew fond of Edo State just because of the sure ephemeral return of his beloved PDP to power in the state is now masquerading as an Edo son and using his sentiments as a generalization of the views of Edo State people and the entire SS. You should be ashamed of yourself. No Edo State person hates or loves people just because of their ethnicity. Only Igbos do so. Your likes would claim to hate Yorubas but would at the same time regard the likes of OBJ, FFK ( prior to his defection, Bode George, etc as heroes. See who could not respond to posers built on hard facts dismissing them as fiction? So it is fiction that votes from the SW made the difference for Jonathan in 2011? It is fiction that Jonathan was first to cast ethnic slur on the SW? It is fiction that APC trounced your beloved PDP in the last Bayelsa guber election? It is fiction that Jonathan your hero visited Tinubu twice in Lagos to solicit for support of the SW in the build up to 2011 election? It is fiction that the SW created the SNG which threatened to shut down Nigeria is Jonathan was not allowed to succeed? It takes a crass opportunist and shameless hypocrite to hate a people who once stuck out their heads against the an impending injustice against his acclaimed brother just because they later parted ways with that his brother when he began to derail from ideals. We all know the tribe notorious for such irrational thought pattern. The same tribe is known to have also later developed hatred for Wole Soyinka just because he exercised his right of freedom of speech to criticize Jonathan who happens to be a member of the tribe which the same people accuse of treachery against them during their Biafra war even though Wole Soyinka actually stuck out his head for them during the said war to call on the international community not to supply weapons to the Nigerian side and got imprisoned by Gowon for three years on account of that. Ironically, as typical of them, the very Arthur Nzeribe, one of their own, who accepted from Gowon the contract to import arms to the Nigerian Government ended up a hero among them till today and even got voted twice to the federal legislature to represent them in two different post-war elections. So who in his right senses would take such people seriously on their pontification on the propriety of the channeling of love and hate? How can a people who hate those that fight for them but love and make heroes of those who supported their massacres be lecturing people and even accuse others of hating on them? Your illogical pattern of reasoning shows that you are an Ipobian in and out. |
NoFucksToGive:Ipobian, you can't pretend any longer to be an Edo person. I will continue to challenge you with facts even though I know that the typical Ipobian is allergic to it hence resort to innuendos and Yoruba accusation to save face when you lose a debate running on facts and logic. It is your disgusting trademark and age-long antecedent on NL so you fool no one. But be proud of your AfghanEASTern region for once and at least be bold enough to call out your beloved PDP which morally owes you her 2023 ticket as a reward for choosing to slave for it and even making enemies of every other region in defense of it. |
