PS. I lost a child two years ago. As a parent, it's the worst nightmare. I've moved on with my faith, injured then, but totally healed now- even stronger and giving me results. One of the results is a wonderful child this year. The joy of that makes the issue of the past but a memory (that sometimes attract a smile when you remember how person wan craze)...

It might not be personal but rather superstitious quality of your said neighbor. Could be a mindset that anyone that nice to her must be an evil person.

While the big time players will serve discounts to encourage more patronage, the small time businesses think that by sky rocketing their prices, they will make the millions in December.
