I think the point the poster your are replying to made, which you either missed or ignored, was simple: just try any such similar or comparable statement with Muslims, that's all.

I encourage you to try it. Let's think of one against the next Muslim holiday, which you can post on your Twitter handle.

Yes I get it that the back and forth can be offensive to non-Yorubas and non-Igbos but they should call out those who instigate the exchange virtually every single time, i.e Igbos, whereas Yorubas usually jump in to defend their ethnic group being rubbished by a people who love attacking and denigrating us over their own insecurities and failings they blame Yorubas for.
In my experience on this forum - which is fifteen years strong - it swings both ways. And believe you me, its beyond nauseating. Most times on a topic that should not even arouse any tribal brick-bats, both sides throw such in from nowhere. And its not fair for you to claim "Yorubas only react." That can never be a true statement coming from either side of the battle. Do you know why? Because its not as though each side has a singular mind. Thus there are different kinds of people on each side. There are horrid small minded folk on both sides who are worse than the racist Ku Klux Klan, just as surely as there are mature, detribalized, big and open minds on both sides. So there is no way you can claim either side to be the antagonist and the other side simply to be reacting. Both are complicit.

And frankly, each time I see it, I mostly presume the combatants to be juvenile in real life, because of the sheer childishness of it. This is not to say old folk dont act the same.

That matters zero to you whereas, if truly objective, you should lay blame where such belongs rather than attempt to play to the Gallery.
I dont play to any gallery. This is my first interaction with you, so you cannot possibly know my antecedents. Suffice to say that those familiar with me know very well I do not play to any gallery. If anything I hold very unpopular opinions and express them bluntly.

But the truth is simply that this thing you guys do is sickening.

Its so terrible that each side automatically makes presumptions about where one comes from if one criticizes the government or praises the government for example. This is ridiculous.

Probably because your Igbo and biased while pretending to be objective by bashing both ethnic group whem it is crystal clear it is one alone that deserves condemnation here. Just stay out of many way bro. Simple.
You see the bold? That is what I just said above. Its sickening. And you are doing it too. I thought for some reason you wouldnt descend to that. I dont know why I thought that.

Do you fake peacemaker and ' uniting force' thingy with others here simple enough not to note you're working from an angle of prejudice and bias rather than genuine objectivity.
Look you dont have to be "kumbayah" like you said. But neither do you have to be repugnant childish.

Is something wrong with you? I should put up a 'one love' kumbaya list with someone who says only Igbo women are achievers and Yoruba women are worthless internationally and only relevant in Nigeria when we know Yoruba women are some of the most iconic global leaders out of the African continent?

When will your sort get it that Igbos have no love for Nigeria or respect for other Nigerians? It was decades ago Azikiwe, Okpara and co were coming out with very disrespectful, supremacist and divisive statement like "God has specially ordained the Igbos to lead black Africa" in multicultural Nigeria hosting over 400 ethnic groups!!!!!

What has changed about that megalomaniac zeal Igbos showed in rhe past given the antics of Igbo today?

Nigga, just stop talking. You clearly dont get the vibes you're throwing out to those who know what being a man is about. I.e standing up always for what/who is right regardless of whose Ox is gored.

It is even worse when there is a clear perpetrator yet you are insisting all sides are guilty and should sit by a fire and hold hands. You're not okay bro.
You need to calm down. How have I offended you?
And believe it or not, I am as man as man can be, with giant iron testicles and radical convictions the likes of which many can never dream of.

Perhaps, being in the trenches of the tribal battles, you dont have the bird's eye view, the detached lenses - to see clearly - and behold just how childish, small minded, silly and repugnant it appears to the normal detribalized observer.

Why dont you comment then to castigate him firmly? Instead you only speak up to lump Yoruba and Igbo together just to play to the gallery and gain likes.

Yorubas don't have time for Igbos. That is a fact. Even from how the number of Yorubas in Igboland is negliguble while they are more than 10 million in the entire SW tells a very revealibg story about who cannot stay away from the other.

@ proeast & WizardofNG,

I have read both your posts and I just wonder at what point both of you will realize that you are both being ethnic chauvinists. There is a lot of good to be said about each tribe but you somehow only find the negatives - which often exist only in your chauvinistic minds anyway.

@WizardofNG - when you claim that Ibos generally are just "petty traders" that in itself is a chauvinistic statement. In the moment of this particular discussion one wonders if the very Allen Onyeama being discussed is a petty trader. Not to speak of so many others I am sure you know. Nor is it either true or fair to claim that complex organized businesses are the forte of the Yoruba alone. I needn't cite examples, I am sure.

@ proeast - there was no need to even raise the question of tribe whatsoever in this. As WizardofNG said, business people seek competent hands.

Generally, this Ibo-Yoruba back and forth is distasteful and tiresome for heavens sake. Truth is we have stars from both tribes and other tribes all across the world. We are a richly blessed nation in terms of talent.

They will not come down, let me explain
We are facing a 2 headed hydra,
One is the rising of fuel prices due to the removal of fuel subsidy and the other is Naira depreciation or increase of dollar exchange rate.
The increase of fuel prices is responsible for the rising cost of food items , and dollar to naira exchange rate only affects imported goods.
So the cost of food items will not reduce unless the fuel prices reduces.
In addition, both factors will have a ripple effect and interplay with the effects of one another.

"For better for worse until death do us part" covers for future uncertainties. If the person was not a serial killer before the church wedding but he or she became a serial killer after the wedding, it is sinful to divorce the person.

If you want to follow Christ, be ready to carry your cross. If you are not sure you can carry the cross, don't deceive yourself by claiming you are following Jesus Christ.
Me? Sorry I am not a Christian, perhaps I should have mentioned.
But I have no doubt that Christ would never subscribe to anything so rigid, so abominable, so irresponsible and so disgusting as what you have just presented.

Maybe you will change your mind if you have a daughter who finds herself in that scenario, heaven forbid though.

If you deceive your prospective spouse on certain (serious) things before and during your church wedding, the marriage is invalid. If a serial killer hides it from his or her yet-to-be spouse and the act is revealed after the person's wedding with the spouse, the wedding is invalid.
I asked you if it is not possible that such conduct commenced after the marriage: thus there was no deceit.

Look, I am just trying to force you the see the obvious: namely that there are an infinity of different scenarios which are thrown up in reality. And thus you cannot limit things the way you are attempting to.

Simple question: your spouse becomes a serial killer post marriage. Must you remain there/ Second - Your spouse abuses you by physically attacking you regularly. Must you remain there?
Family › Re: How My First Marriage Crashed After Several Abuse- Pastor Emmanuel Olumide (vid) by DeepSight(m):

Serial killer means he has killed many people before wanting to marry her.

Did she know it before getting married to him? If yes, she should carry her cross. If no, the union is not marriage, meaning she is free to walk out of the marriage. Walking out of the marriage in this scenario is annulment, not divorce.
You can't be taken seriously. Just look at the cynical ease with which you shift gears, change the goal posts, redefine things to suit yourself.

1. Since when must it be the case that his serial killing occurred before wanting to marry her? Why can it not be something that either starts or persists post marriage? Kindly note that this remains an example. It stands representative for any number of similar scenarios.

2. Since when is it the case that any sin you are unaware of in your spouse's life is grounds for annulment? If that were the case every single marriage in history has grounds for annulment. Because there is no way anyone can know all the sins of anyone else.

Please stop making stuff up as you go along. That only reveals a lack of integrity and honesty. If you were sincere you will simple admit there are several reasonable grounds for divorce.

Please note, in the modern era, domestic violence is a big issue. You must be both insensitive and irresponsible if you advise anyone to remain in a marriage ridden with domestic violence, for example.
Family › Re: How My First Marriage Crashed After Several Abuse- Pastor Emmanuel Olumide (vid) by DeepSight(m): 8:34pm On Mar 31, 2024

The problem here is hypocrisy. People want to be here and there. People want to eat their cake and have it.

If you want to divorce your spouse when he or she offends you, avoid church wedding. Do your traditional marriage or any other form of marriage. The issue is that people want church wedding but don't want the cross that comes with church wedding. Church wedding vow says, "... until death do us part".

Choose a tradition you can maintain. Don't deceive yourself with church wedding when you are not willing to abide by its principles.
Just accept the teaching of the Roman Cult is unreasonable in this regard. It's not a question of "if you want divorce, avoid church wedding".... A couple may have no intention to divorce and yet life, ever unpredictable, presents circumstances necessitating same.

What should a Christian married woman do if it turns out, unbeknownst to her, that her husband is a serial killer for example?

According to you weirdos, no matter what happens, however inconceivable, they must remain together. Even in the case of domestic violence that tends towards murder.

You guys are nuts.

Now let me also ask you corresponding question similar to those I highlighted:
Is Nairaland registered in Nigeria?
Is Facebook registered in Nigeria
Is TicTok registered in Nigeria?
Is Alibaba and Aliexpress registered in Nigeria?
There are thousands if not millions of website thar offer one service or the other to Nigerians and collect payments from Nigerians, how many of them are registered in Nigeria?

Binance was not the only website offering P2P service to Nigerians in the crypto space. There are others like OKX and Kucoin that still allow naira to be traded on their platform till this very second. Why is Ribabu not issuing warrant of arrest for all their executives?

So you see the issue is not with binance itself but with our laws. Instead of you to attack your legislative for doing nothing but approving budgets, allowances and constituency projects, instead of passing laws to regulate and tax internet companies doing business in with Nigerians, you are attacking Binance just taking advantage of Nigeria's lax laws.
The tax laws of Nigeria already adequately provide that any company or person earning profit from Nigeria or through activities in Nigeria is liable to tax. As a result, Internet companies based wherever in the world earning profit from Nigeria are liable to tax in Nigeria. As is the case in most countries of the world.

The question would really be about the quantum to determine the relevance. What I mean by this is that the little profit made by one obscure website can be easily ignored, but the massive profits made by major internet companies should not be ignored. Regrettably our government and leaders are so inept that they dont even go there, and so focused on the theft of petrodollars that they think of little else.

I can list many multinationals that even operate physically on the ground in Nigeria and do not pay a penny of tax.
