PoliticsRe: Ex-petroleum Minister, Etete, Returns From Exile To Contest For Governorship by DeepSoul(f): 5:14pm On Jul 29, 2006
I read this post with anger welling up inside me with each word that followed. Dan Etete??!!

It's amazing that a thief can just enter our dear country and claim to want to "restore peace to the Niger Delta"!

Was he not one of the factors that caused the unrest in the first place?!

He claims he's under pressure! Who are those pressurizing him?! He calls himself an "elder statesman". I see him as an "elder thief"!

There's even no space for him in the race to become governor in Bayelsa State. He probably knows that and just wants to be politically relevant but I hope EFCC clips his wings before he even gets close to it! Bloody criminal!!
PoliticsRe: The Nigerian Future by DeepSoul(f): 1:09pm On Jul 26, 2006
I once read somewhere "If this generation is a wasted one, the next is waste in the waiting!" It's very hard to disagaree with whoeva it was that wrote that but I believe it can be changed, Hopefully!

We all sit here and complain about how corrupt our leaders are and how we, the future, can't wait to "take over".

But are we really any better? As it is, the "Nigerian Future" is worse than the present.

Look at the rate of exam malpractice,it's alarming! It may seem like a normal thing but it really isn't. It just makes me wonder what these exam "malpractitioners" will do if they one day become leaders. I seriously doubt these old men who still govern us today were ever as morally bankrupt as the average Nigerian youth is.

I feel sad as well when I talk to my friends and young people generally and they already have plans of beating the theft records of the present leaders. It's a really sad story.

What we need is re-orientation and most importantly, the Grace of God because if we continue at the present rate, I fear for Nigeria!

Ego isn't what's killing Nigeria. Greed is.
PoliticsRe: Odili's Futile Quest For The Presidency by DeepSoul(f): 12:23pm On Jul 26, 2006
Those fares are what the other transporters charge. I've used these cabs as well and they can be chatered. Esp from the airport to inside town or vice versa. They charge as much as N5000 for that!
BusinessRe: More Bookshops Or More Boutiques? by DeepSoul(f): 3:28pm On Jul 25, 2006
I love to shop for clothes. It's a very pleasurable act.

I love to shop for books. It's an even more pleasurable act. It's almost orgasmic.

When u buy clothes, they stay with u for just a while (whether u like it or not!)

Whe u buy books, they stay with u forever.

Knowledge is invaluable. Fashion is just, well, I' d say one of those things!

More bookshops pleasssssssssssssssse!
RomanceRe: Why do beautiful ladies end up with ugly men(and vice versa)? by DeepSoul(f): 3:48pm On Jul 24, 2006
Beautiful women end up with ugly men and vice versa because they see something deeper than beauty,

Something more valuable,
PoliticsRe: Did Nigeria Evacuate Her Citizens From Lebanon? by DeepSoul(f): 3:39pm On Jul 24, 2006
According to the new Minister for Foreign Affairs,Mrs Okonjo Iweala, Nigeria was one of the first countries to evacuate her citizens from Lebanon.
PoliticsRe: ACD In The 2007 Election by DeepSoul(f): 3:23pm On Jul 24, 2006
That would result in a band of thieves crushing a band of thieves.

@Oshkosh,
I couldn't have said it better!
PoliticsRe: Odili's Futile Quest For The Presidency by DeepSoul(f): 3:01pm On Jul 24, 2006
@Mekusoil and Otokx,
You only confirm that we as humans can never be satisfied. If the fares were actually 200 box as suggested, I'm sure the govt would be termed as "wicked" and unsympathetic to the plight of the "poor masses". Now, it's 10 box (can be afforded by every1), u still complain abt it being too cheap!

You probably have cars and do not have to pay transport fares through ur noses. Think about how this benefits the ordinary man eg carpenters, civil servants, students etc.

Yes, there are plenty arguments against the purchase of these vehicles. The fares shouldn't be one of them.

@Mekusoil
And by the way, I can safely assume u do not drive one of these cabs so I wonder where the issue of it being "unsustainable" comes from
PoliticsRe: Mass Sack Looms In The Civil Service by DeepSoul(f): 6:22pm On Jul 21, 2006
I wonder why any1 would applaude actions that generate unemployment instead of creating more jobs for the already too many unemployed Nigerians.

It's not like there's an alternative plan for these sacked pple.

Or is there?
PoliticsRe: ACD In The 2007 Election by DeepSoul(f): 6:10pm On Jul 21, 2006
It's too early to know what chance they stand. Besides we all know the monster called PDP wld have to die b4 any other party gets even close to having a chance
PoliticsRe: The Most Corrupt Public Institution In Nigeria by DeepSoul(f): 5:57pm On Jul 21, 2006
The Police Force (Methinks they shd do a name change sha. Police Farce sounds much beta!). They are the most corrupt set of individuals in the history of corruption. But I guess I can safely say they are victims of corruption, It was injected forcefully into their systems.

The Police Farce can only come second if The Presidency can be seen as an institution.
PoliticsRe: Presidential Debate In Nigeria (2007)? by DeepSoul(f): 5:43pm On Jul 21, 2006
Whether or not a candidate shows up for a debate doesn't guarantee good leadership. The debate thing is just entertainment for Nigerians who are interested in being entertained.

I see u do not yet understand that Nigerian leaders, once elected, cannot and will not be held accountable for whateva it is they had said in the past. Even if that were possible, we don't need them to b involved in debates.

All the lies they tell and all the empty promises they make during their campaign periods are more than sufficient!
PoliticsRe: Brand New Third Term Agenda! by DeepSoul(f): 5:29pm On Jul 21, 2006
If INEC can be used, why wasnt that option considered b4 they gave themselves headache in form of 3rd term?

All d same, I'd like to know how u think they intend to use INEC
PoliticsRe: Odili's Futile Quest For The Presidency by DeepSoul(f): 5:15pm On Jul 21, 2006
@Buchio7
So now, corruption don turn to zonal thing?? What shall we not hear in 9ja! Kai!

Every single Nigerian governor is corrupt. They are all on the same level and for sum1 to say certain pple from a particular area are more corrupt is a sad story.

@Ono,
Lol, I no get any link whatsoeva to Odili (none that I'm aware of sha). I wasnt aware I was defending him per se. I'm not even an Odili supporter on a good day, I have as much or even more negative things to say about him.

But wheneva I hear tales of him being worse,"corruptically" and in terms of performance, whn compared to other governors, I tend to disagree,

Wonderful works ke? Well, except plenty traffic lights and plenty street lights on the airport road qualify as "wonderful", I rlly cannot help u out on that one o!

PoliticsRe: Odili's Futile Quest For The Presidency by DeepSoul(f): 11:22am On Jul 21, 2006
@Afeni,
U're forgetting that OBJ does not have as much power as we're wont to believe.

If he did, the third term bid would have been actualized.

He has a say in who becomes the next president, yes. But he cannot single-handedly choose who that person will be.

It's high time he stopped being viwed as some sort of mini god!
PoliticsRe: Prof. Dora Nkem Akunyili: Good For Politics? by DeepSoul(f): 11:10am On Jul 21, 2006
@Otokx
Which kain talk be thathuh? What's d connection btwn Miss World and Dora Akunyili??
Muslims sparked because of the thought of women exposing their bodies.

Afterall, there are muslim women as leaders in Nigeria today. The Minister for Women Affairs is a muslim woman. The new Finance Minister is a mulim, I think.

Anyway, if Nigeria has to have a female president, Dora Akunyili is the best candidate.

Reasons for that are enough to fill a thousand pages!
PoliticsRe: Odili's Futile Quest For The Presidency by DeepSoul(f): 10:39am On Jul 21, 2006
@Ono,
There are no Ibo "portions" in Rivers.

Odili. Is. Not. An. Iboman! Yes, there's a mixture of Ibo in places like Delta State but there's none in Rivers. Once again, I'd say it's just the similarities (esp in the language spoken) confusing pple, Or perhaps some are willingly confused?

Some base their claims on the fact that "he does so much" for the Mbaise (rite spellin?) pple in Imo State but that's just because his wife is from that community!

Some say it's cos he does so much for the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Well, that just because it's his alma mata!

@Buchio7,
Yes I know how Bayelsa was in 99-2001. It isnt any much different than it is now! I heard someone complain abt electricity in PH, In Bayelsa, electricity is NONE EXISTENT.

Odili has reaped Rivers State off, Odili siphons money, yada yada yada, Dont they allhuh
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Our Children Are Hungry by DeepSoul(f): 1:23pm On Jul 20, 2006
The saddest thing about is the govt's blind eye to it.

They act like it's non-existent.

All those that form NGOs supposedly to help are only doing so for selfish gains.

Nigerian children are malnourished, not just literally but in every way.

About 800,000 Nigerian children of school age are not in school. Rather, they are seen selling pure water on the streets.

That to me is the height of malnourishment.

How sad!
PoliticsRe: Odili's Futile Quest For The Presidency by DeepSoul(f): 12:52pm On Jul 20, 2006
Odili sure has plenty enemies here o! I'm not exactly a fan of his but u guys shd give him a break abeg! There are worse governors in other states! Generally, leadership in Nigeria at all levels is a disaster but he's better than so many others,

Some argue that even if he's better than others in terms of perfomance, he can do a whole lot better. I agree.

But.

Go to Bayelsa State and see what's happening there. It's a state that gets as much money as Rivers does (or atleast smthn close to that) but not even half of what Gov Odili has done in Rivers can be seen in Bayelsa State. That's just one example out of plenty.

And who says Odili is not a Niger Deltan?? He just happens to be from a part of Rivers thats bears similarities to the Ibo culture.

And for those who think his time is up, think again! As it is now,he's seriously involved in the king making process. If his plans eventually work out, it'll be an "Odili Man" leading Rivers come 2007 and bliv me, it isn't gonna be any different!
PoliticsRe: Death to the Men In Uniforms by DeepSoul(f): 11:12am On Jul 19, 2006
And we all know it's almost impossible for the army to go there without being oppressive!

If these militants need to be pleaded with, it's not the job of the army to do so.

And besides, we all know sensibility is something these militants lack. They'll probably become sensible when hell freezes over!
PoliticsRe: Prof. Charles Soludo For President by DeepSoul(f): 11:04am On Jul 19, 2006
The difference btwn Soludo and the others just mentioned is that he's an intellectual and they are not.

That's our problem in 9ja - The requirement(s) for leadership is usually "experience" and not intellect.

The sooner we begin to realise we'll fare better as a nation with intellectuals as our leaders, the better for us all!

We shouldnt biv everythion we hear. They say they are in ADC. Who sabi dem? ING cannot be forced on the Nigerian People, The worst they can do is 3rd term and we knw that has been buried long ago. The ACD pple claim there was massive rigging in the 2003 elections. Were they not a part of it? Where were they in 2003? Is it not the same PDP??

These are just aggrieved ex PDP members who fell out with the party and now they've come together 2 confuse Nigerians.

Are they any betterhuh

PoliticsRe: Dr Mike Adenuga In Trouble With EFCC by DeepSoul(f): 4:15pm On Jul 11, 2006
He's guilty quite alright but so are a lot of others including the ones who authorized the arrest!

If Nigerians empathise, it's because of that and because he would never have been found out if he has stayed in their good books. The motive(s) for the arrest are very questionable.
PoliticsRe: Dr Mike Adenuga In Trouble With EFCC by DeepSoul(f): 3:59pm On Jul 11, 2006
He didnt provide money to fund the third term bid like he did the Presidential project. Eh yah. Not like I'm exactly sorry for him
BusinessRe: Opening A Boutique In Nigeria by DeepSoul(f): 10:11am On Jul 11, 2006
I think you should consider other business options. Wheneva I see a new boutique opened, I'm aggravated. There are wayyyyyyy too many boutiques in extistence already (atleast in the city where I stay and definitely other major cities). That's not even the issue. Problem is, at the end of the day, you end up making little or no profits (if u'r lucky!) In other cases, you end up running at a loss! I've seen it happen to lots of pple and I wonder why others keep wanting to join the train. Look around and u see loads of boutiques with "sales" posters stuck all over their windows. The selling price ends up being less than the cost price which shdnt be so! There are very few boutiques in Nigeria that can boast of making enough profits. To me, it isnt a lucrative business. Just my opinion.

1914 amalgamation?? shocked

IBB aka Evil Genuis (the annulment of June 12 is part n parcel of him)

He's closely followed by Gen. Sani Abacha and his dark goggles that took away light from the Nigerian people.

Thoze who want him 2 be president should state their basis for supporting him!
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Can Be Better, If: by DeepSoul(f): 12:53pm On Jul 10, 2006
I see such a person in Pat Utomi, Chris Okotie,thousands of faceless Nigerians who are seemingly irrelevant, home and abroad.

I see that person in Dora Akunyili, There's no other person in Nigeria (that readily comes to my mind) who has occupied such a public office and whose integrity can be vouched for. She's one dedicated lady. She has an essential ingredient which our "leaders" lack - empathy. Unfortunately, Nigerians (or is it male politicians?) are not yet ready for the emergence of a female leader.

I see a bit of that person in Mallam El-Rufai and Nuhu Ribadu (Yes, I know they're from the north), unfortuantely, they have both been greatly influenced so far but they have good leadership traits,

PHCH = Pls Hold Candle Near

But at the end of the day, the change of name hasn't helped in anyway. If anything, it's worse!
I hear they're planning to do another name change, whichever sha, power supply remains epileptic!
Like the Minister for Power and Steel say, we'll have stable electricity in 2058 (or smwhere close to that, cant rememba d exact yr), Our gr8 grand kids will b d ones 2 enjoy it!
