Dating And Meet-up ZoneRe: Can Nairaland Produce A Couple? by DeepSoul(f): 7:25pm On Sep 06, 2006
I met the only person I've ever really loved in a Nigerian chat room. It ended up being a million times better than anything I've had with any1 I met "eyeball-to-eyeball"
Christianity EtcRe: Being Born Again: How, What Next, And Of What Value? by DeepSoul(f): 2:20pm On Sep 04, 2006
The value of being born again is that you'll share a place with The Father (when the time comes) in a place where there is no more suffering, no more pain. When the time comes. But till then, be steadfast o! because, e no easy.

It was most definitely politically motivated.

PoliticsRe: What Tribes Have No Chance Of Ever Having One Of Their Own Become President? by DeepSoul(f): 7:06pm On Aug 29, 2006
People, South south, North east et al are not tribes. They are geo-political zones.

@Original Question
I'd have to be psychic to know that. 9ja has over 500 tribes, some of which we may never even hear about.
PoliticsRe: Which Zone Should Produce The Next President? by DeepSoul(f): 4:48pm On Aug 29, 2006
For the sake of equity, we can say the South-south is the best candidate.

But realistically, how will the average Nigerian's life from the south south change positively with the emergence of "one of their own" as President?

This zoning thing is even done at state levels. Practical example. Find out where exactly ur state governor comes from and see if the lives of those from his community are any better than those who arent.
PoliticsRe: Which Zone Should Produce The Next President? by DeepSoul(f): 1:18pm On Aug 23, 2006
This zoning issue, in my opinion, is trivial. Where the next President comes from will not determine how good a leader he or she will be.

Unfortuantely, everybody now wants his or her "town man" to be the next President. Pity.

PoliticsRe: Has Anyone Considered Ibori For President? by DeepSoul(f): 2:38pm On Aug 18, 2006
@Radiant
A country can also be seen as a state, get ur facts right before u call sm1 dumb.

I don't think this should be seen as a personal attack against the man Ibori. It applies to most of our "leaders" in Nigeria. Pls if you havent looked at the revenue allocated to the states, do so! And I totally agree with buluti, it's enough to make any1 who really loves this country weep. He built a bridge with 6billion Naira. That's just ONE month's allocation out of EIGHTY_SEVEN months (May 99 -Aug 2006). Even if it's just HALF of the money received being used, you'd see a huge difference. Recently, a survey showed that NOT. ONE. NIGERIAN. UNIVERSITY is among the first 100 in AFRICA. Isnt that sad?? Not in the world o! IN AFRICA!

It's only in 9ja that you'd see a Minister of Health go "abroad" to receive medical treatments. Isnt that an irony!

Just because someone has built a bridge, a stadium and some minor things (when compared to how much more he cld have done), doesnt mean he shd be praised!

On the road to Delta State (Ughelli, I think) I saw a huge clony of lepers lined up on the road. The sight cannot be described. All I could do was wonder how the governor travels through the same road and doesn't think anything can be done about that. It was not only an eye sore but a heart sore.

Where does all the money go to?? It's not just Ibori but all the other governors who need to answer this question.
We were told be the then minister of State for Finance that in the black market, the price of foreign currencies go up each time it's time for the monthly revenue allocation. What does that say to us?

Some say they need evidence. There's plenty of evidence. It's all around us, enveloping us like thick smoke which it really is. I just hope we dont someday choke to death!
CareerRe: Why You Should Never Get A Job by DeepSoul(f): 6:55pm On Aug 16, 2006
No I do not agree with some of his reasons!

#6 When you run into an idiot in the corporate world, you have to turn around and say, “Sorry, boss.”

It means you're automatically signing up to become an idiot once you decide to be an employer! That's dumb

Becoming an entrepreneur is the farthest thing from the minds of most 9ja youths. If u want to find out, go 2 a Nigerian Uni and ask students why exactly it is they are in school. Like ozobemem said, it's not exactly easy 2 be self-employed in 9ja. But I strongly believe that even in the face of the harshest conditions, any1 can be sucessful with hard work, determination and God on their side! You can create a river in the desert sef.

So young pple, better not wait for the Nigerian govt to provide jobs for u. We should create jobs for ourselves cos 9ja has got a lot of opportunities. Sadly, most of us dont see dem!
PoliticsRe: Police Install Surveillance Cameras In Abuja by DeepSoul(f): 2:03pm On Aug 15, 2006
Odeku:
Who want to see some stinking cleavages? this is security issue not women.
Dude! That was a joke. U shd get a sense of humour. I hear you can now buy one on ebay.

Talking about women not being a part of the security issue, about 36 hrs ago or so, a branch of Diamond Bank was raided for 4hrs! Some of the gang members were female. These days, when it comes to crime in 9ja, gender is no longer a big issue.

To Original Question : I think it's both an invasion of privacy and a good thing. Disadvantage and Advantage.

FashionRe: Can You Wear A Bikini? by DeepSoul(f): 1:20pm On Aug 15, 2006
gigitte:
yeah true but due to the surrounding culture and moral upbringing, naija girls are less likely to feel comfortable wearing bikinis and stuff. afterall environment does affect personality
A good number of pple here have said it's a Nigerian thing. It so isn't. Being able to wear a bikini, in my opinion, doesn't have to do with whether or not u'r Nigerian. I'm 100% Nigerian living in Nigeria and I'm as comfortable in a bikini as I am in clothes!
PoliticsRe: Governor Ibori, Wife, In $360M Oil Deal in London by DeepSoul(f): 11:50am On Aug 14, 2006
Except this is another one, I think I heard about the Iboris story some months ago.

Over the weekend there were some unconfirmed reports from "Bayelsan Insiders" that the Goodluck Jonathan's (the deputy who took over Alams) wife was arrested in London. I'm yet to see the story on any newspaper. I just hope she hasnt decided to follow in the footsteps Alams n his wife

@Odeku
What other evidence do u need 2 prove Obj is the father of corruption? Look around. Nigeria is almost a failed state. Isn't that enough evidence?
PoliticsRe: Have You Felt The Impact Of 6.5% Economic Growth In Nigeria? by DeepSoul(f): 11:32am On Aug 14, 2006
The only impact I remember feeling was when they bombed a politician's house in my neighbourhood.

Nepa is get inefficient by the second. Even when there's light, it's so low it can compete with a candle!

Who says food is cheaper? Atleast not from my end! One orange is N10! Lol. Imagine! I rememba when it was 3 oranges for N5 not too long ago

Petroleum products are more expensive.

The school fees of my siblings are alarmingly more expensive.

House rents, crazy! Everything I know keeps going up.

Unemployment rate is higher! More pple have turned to armed robbery.

The police collect more money and harrass pple incessantly. What else? Too numerous to mention!

So now, I havent felt like there's been growth but I believe we'r already in the process and in the next couple of years, the results will become visible. So, there's still hope.
PoliticsRe: What Do You Think Of Malam Nuhu Ribadu? by DeepSoul(f): 11:13am On Aug 14, 2006
@Buchio
I no talk say na him cause am. He might have been one of the contributing factors being that he was an IBB man. But then, Im not very sure of that.

@Jackal
There are corrupt pple in Obj's camp. Even Obj himself is the grand master of corruption. 4get abt all this anti-corruption talk.
Un4tunately, Obj and the likes are not being brought to book because they are in power. Everyone knows that. There's nothing we can do about it but just watch the tragedy play out before our eyes. What we'r failing to remember is, even if Ribadu is being used to witch-hunt certain enemies, those enemies are not exactly innocent. If we take our eyes off the motive, we'll see the positive side of it.
CelebritiesRe: Is Paddy Adenuga Rude And Pompous? by DeepSoul(f): 10:46am On Aug 14, 2006
When someone like that is rude to you, it should only motivate you to make more exploits than his father already has! That way, no1 will look down on you! Till that happens, pls do not cry over spilled milk! Just work harder so you too can have the opportunity of being pompous grin
PoliticsRe: President Obasanjo Visits Akwa Ibom State ! by DeepSoul(f): 6:07pm On Aug 12, 2006
Danoe, how luck you are. All my replies to this post keep "disappearing"! To say this post is annoying is a huge understatement. What are you congratulating the President for? Is his visit to Akwa Ibom an achievement?

If the pple want to welcome him, fine.

The part that makes me boil is why hundreds of thousands of naira was spent just to "congratulate" him as I saw in yesterday's Thisday. Abi you pple dont know that buying space in national dailies costs money?

How does that put food on the plates of thousnads of the hungry pple that live in Akwa Ibom??

I'm still getting over my annoyance from yesterday's Thisday and now, this!! Arrrgh!!!!
PoliticsRe: What Do You Think Of Malam Nuhu Ribadu? by DeepSoul(f): 5:39pm On Aug 12, 2006
Jackal:
Chukwumerije was more effective than Ribadu in IBB's regime.
Chukwumerije ke? I'm amazed that Nuhu Ribadu is being compared with him and worst of all, seen as "ineffective" in comparison. Jeez!

Xcept I'm mistaken, was Chukwumerijie not one of those who caused the annulment of June 12 elections?

Nuhu Ribadu is being used as a weapon, yes. But that's just the down-side. There are other positive sides to him.

Watch out for him.
PoliticsRe: Babangida's Son Arrested By Efcc by DeepSoul(f): 5:25pm On Aug 12, 2006
These EFCC arrests of seemingly sacred cows is beginning to develop a certain pattern. They make arrests. The media makes plenty noise and before you know it, it disappears like smoke.

Shebi Adenuga was arrested recently. Why was he let off the hook eventually? I hear "Presidential Intervention" saved his neck. Mohammed Babangida has been arrested now and I can bet the two arrests are not unconnected. Very soon now, we'll hear he too has received the infamous "Presidential Intervention".

Same thing happened with Tafa Balogun. Na only God go save Nigeria from Nigerians.

But very soon, in the not too distant future, the IBBs of this country will be made to face justice! By then Obj won't be there to save them!
BusinessRe: Does Digital Photography Sell In Nigeria? by DeepSoul(f): 1:25pm On Aug 12, 2006
Just because some others are already in photography business doesn't mean you can't get into it and add jara to your own. All you have to do is be distinctive from the others!

RomanceRe: Why Does Love Hurt So Bad? by DeepSoul(f): 12:27pm On Aug 12, 2006
Seun:
Two people that repeatedly hurt each other cannot claim to be in love. They are just relationship addicts.
Sometimes we unknowingly hurt someone we love but when it is done repeatedly, it so isn't love! U can't do to someone you truly love what you wouldn't do to yourself.
PoliticsRe: Either Duke Or Utomi Will Succeed OBJ: Prophecy By Perez Oluyemi. by DeepSoul(f): 2:30pm On Aug 11, 2006
because some Pastor in Ibadan had a dream doesn't mean his interpretation of it is correct.

because Chris Okotie didnt become President in 2003 doesn't mean he's a false prophet. I don't know what that makes him but it isn't my duty (nor any1 else's for that matter) to be the judge of that.

Plenty plenty Pastors and Reverends had prophesied plenty plenty things in the past.

Me sef might decide to interprete the dream I had last night into who the President will be in 2007. No be news.
PoliticsRe: PDP: A Party Of Godfathers by DeepSoul(f): 4:59pm On Aug 09, 2006
EFCC is semi-functional grin

The master deceiver is The President because he controls all other subordinate deceivers - EFCC, the godfathers and PDP. They are all under his "loving care".
BusinessRe: Business Idea: Amputating Machines by DeepSoul(f): 12:20pm On Aug 08, 2006
mrmayor:
I can't import guns for armed robbers because its illegal but amputation is perfectly legal.
It's legal?? Under sharia law?? Pple are looking for a way to stop sharia before it spreads to other parts of 9ja and becomes a big issue, others are looking for ways to support and make money out of it! What happened to ur conscience??

Pls this shd be moved to the Jokes Forum sad
ComputersRe: Cheap Flatscreen Monitor Wanted by DeepSoul(f): 12:01pm On Aug 08, 2006
Recently, I needed a cheap flatscreen monitor as well. The only cheap option is buying online eg amazon. U'll get em as cheap as u want. Problem stems from the added costs that come with shipping.
BusinessRe: Would Shelters In Nigeria Make a Difference to the Community? by DeepSoul(f): 10:14am On Aug 07, 2006
@Seun,
The fact that someone begs at all is a sure sign that he or she isnt living well. Begging is degrading and I refuse to believe any1 enjoys it. Any1 who begs isnt living well.

Shelters in Nigeria will go a long way to help but in my opinion, it'll only make pple lazier. They'll now have an excuse not to find some form of work 2 do. But then, that's just the down-side.
PoliticsRe: Past Rulers Coming To Rule Us Again In 2007? by DeepSoul(f): 5:58pm On Jul 29, 2006
No. There's nothing good to show for all the years they led us. They should all build farms (eg Otta Farm) and go and retire and watch their gr8-grandkids play!
PoliticsRe: Don Etiebet's Guber Interest- A Shame Or Glory by DeepSoul(f): 5:41pm On Jul 29, 2006
If elections were free and fair in Nigeria. If. But we all know since it isn't so, anything can happen.

Etiebet might not be Attah's "chosen one" but he might be Obj's.

Remember, he left the PDP for ANPP (after being deafeated at the primaries) where he became National Chairman and now, he's back to PDP. This trend suggests he's either confused and lacks character or that he might have been an "insider" on behalf of the PDP during his stay in ANPP. Afterall, it was under his "chairmanship" that the ANPP suffered so much internal wahala.

Methinks it's shameful that he wants to become governor. He only fuels the suspicion that he was sent by the PDP to distabilize the ANPP and his reward is becoming governor.
