I have an investment property in the UK and I have zero regrets. The secret is to do proper research, not go for overly priced properties and make sure the property is located in a good location.

In fact, I am looking at expanding my property portfolio. I'm not into it to make huge yields/returns. The goal is to pay off the mortgage as quickly as possible using rental income and own the property outright. I am sure some people here won't believe me if I tell them my tenant pays around £850 for a 2 bedroom flat in Scotland but that's the truth.

How do you do with tax?

Good day house. Its being quiet in house for weeks. Please I need clarity on my 5 years indefinite leave to remain (ilr) calculation.
I am on the 5 years route. My BRP first issue was 11th December 2017 (11/12/2017). Arrived UK 30/12/2017. I have been given extension and it expires 21/7/2023. With this calculation, (date of first issue to expiry) its 5 years 7 months.
In order to qualify for 5years ilr application, should I wait till my BRP expires 21/7/2023 (which will be 5 years 7 months)? Or can I calculate exactly 5 years from date of issue 11/12/2017, which will be 11/12/2022 and apply?
To summarise my date of first issue to expiry is 5years 7months but I want to apply exactly 5years from first issue (due to school admissions timing). Please I need the house opinions, must I wait till brp expires (28 day rule considered) or simply calculate 5 years from first brp issue. Thanks.

Anytime from 28 days before 30/12/22 that is between 2nd Dec 2022 and 21/7/2023. Usually 28 days before the 5th year of entry

The UK is lot Nigeria where everything is about a degree. What skills does she have that she can sell in the UK. What is she interested in? A lot of people come here and change career. They do not necessarily practise what they studied in school. The UK is about what you have to offer.

Some handymen I know make more than se of us that went to school and put on shirt and tie to go the office. I recently got some job done and I was telling my wife that It would have coste less than half of what I paid if I brought awbosy from Nigeria, paid visa and airline ticket, hotel bill and pay the person handsomely for a two week job.

Can she teach math, network look for people who need tutoring, charge them. The student makes good grades in their faces, word spreads, you get more clients, you make your money. If it is hair making; do home service, etc.

First of all minder change. At my age (I no old po) I have started learning something new to help improve my skills.

try and except is to catch possible error messages , for this why I used ValueError because if you put int("bob" you will get a ValueError error. If you don't put the type of error it catches all kinds of errors(eg ValueError,TypeError,OsError etc). So it will still work but the only problem is when you want to catch a particular type of error message.

i see what you did using a list. I am just starting on python and this was an exercise on loops and iteration, haven't really explored lists. This exercise took a long time for me to solve but learnt a lot on what not to do. eventually got it right:

could you help look at the code; this is what i'm trying to achieve but not quite getting the output desired

Write a program that repeatedly prompts a user for integer numbers until the user enters 'done'. Once 'done' is entered, print out the largest and smallest of the numbers. If the user enters anything other than a valid number catch it with a try/except and put out an appropriate message and ignore the number. Enter 7, 2, bob, 10, and 4 and match the output below.

What type of visa are you applying for? Depends on the visa type, could be 15 working days for visitor's visa to 6 months for settlement

if you overpay your tax at the end of the tax year, HMRC will refund you. Also, if you underpay, they will send you a letter telling you that you owe and you will be required to pay back.

Usually, your tax free allowance is removed from your basic salary and the remaining is spread out for the year. It might seem your friend is taking a lot home right now but when the day of reckoning comes, she will pay. Hopefully cost of her lifestyle is not equal to what she takes home right now before tax

All way na way. There are people who have done these courses and gotten something and some that have gotten nothing. Not everybody will get the same results. If you want to become a pm/ba and the courses will help your cause then do them.

In courts when trying to win a case if something has never been done before it's makes your case s bit difficult to defend/prove etc. But once something similar or remotely similar has been done in the past, a lawyer can keep sighing it and try to find similarities or links with the previous case and it will be less difficult for the lawyer. Since the case in history has shown that it can be done and the courts have proven it to be right.

Future cases might not be allowed to move to appeal or supreme based on this lady's case as precedence.

A lawyer will argue no need to waste time, tax payers money by going to appeals etc.

NB: I have watched suites complete series multiple times. And my brother is a lawyer
