As at last count - 7 properties in the UK and in New Zealand (4/3). In the process of buying a flat for my brother in Glasgow so he can get out of rented. We were both head hunted from the UK to NZ as well. In 16 months time, we also qualify for NZ citizenship then we'll return home (to the UK) so my children can attend secondary school. Their futures and ours is sorted financially and otherwise.

I am agree I am not wise. Thank Bleep for that if the wiseness means wasting money building in Nigeria when I don't live there and have zero plans of ever living there.

PS - 17th year out of Nigeria and I have to say I have done very very well for myself and my siblings. All sorted, educated at my expense (2 in the UK) and happily living our best lives.

I helped a friend to apply for his wife's spouse visa extension here last month, she went for biometric appointment on the 11th of August 2021 and visa came out 3wks ago

Yes but if you use standard you still get it within a month, i never bothered with their fast track though as i see it as waste of money.

Oyinbo man retiring at the age of 40 years in the western world is an exception, it is not typical at all. You may retire at such an age or even much more younger based mostly on health grounds like physical disabilities or mental issues. An able bodied 40year old with no mental issue or maybe too much domestic duties that doesnt want to work is a lazy fellow.

hi, does the number of days away on vacation or work affect the 2years 8months timeline?

If one has been away for 100days for example, does that mean by 2years 8months, one will still have to stay an extra 100 days to cover for days away?

I currently drive with my Nigerian License, i also have the international License but the Nigerian one was accepted by the insurance company and I have been using it since September 2020.

try and except is to catch possible error messages , for this why I used ValueError because if you put int("bob" you will get a ValueError error. If you don't put the type of error it catches all kinds of errors(eg ValueError,TypeError,OsError etc). So it will still work but the only problem is when you want to catch a particular type of error message.

I am a newbie on here. My husband initial spouse visa runs out on the 27th of September 2021. At the end of August, he would have been with me here in the UK for 2years and 8 months. We now have to apply for his next stage FLR. Has anyone submitted a week before the 28 days? Can this be around 28 days, i.e a little flexible or does it have to be within the 28 days, i.e. Can we submit on the 23rd of August, this is tomorrow or does it have to be on the 30th or 31st of August?

The other thing is the submission the online application or is it after the biometric appointment? This is a little confusing.

Nothing happened to gold. What you have online are derivatives/ETFs or paper gold contracts with serious manipulations by JPM and others on Comex (pump and dump) to exit their positions at some profit or reduced margin calls (losses). Leverage on comex is like 1:650 and above. That's crazy!

Basel III is being implemented and that means significantly reduced leverage which will see many paper contracts being closed. Try buying premiums (physical gold like Maple leaf or Kruger etc) and see if it sells for the paper price.

Look to central banks to understand gold. Today, Russia holds more gold reserve than US treasuries. China and India are massively increasing their purchase of gold (mind you, China doesn't export gold mined internally). Even Ghana is diversifying her reserves to include gold while Nigeria is still looking for cow route (I love my country).

I don't think people buy physical gold or silver to trade, they do so as a means of wealth preservation (part of a diversification strategy). There is only so much manipulation that can occur before the Fed (major culprit) loses the plot and we have to rein in the $$ (another Bretton Wood maybe).

If China launches her digital Yuan and backs it with gold, then we can be very sure that a major reorganisation is in the works.

Lastly, the BIS (Bank of International Settlement) more like the central Bank of the world's central banks has this to say about gold - "Physical gold is a first-tier asset that has no counterparty or political risk". So for now it's to keep diversifying with eyes firmly on the debt/bond market - that's the foundation of the world's economy.

Hello Everyone, I need help o. I got a new job at Exeter but I currently leave in Northampton and the distance is just massive and expensive by bus and train. I'm to go for induction for 4 days Monday to Thursday and then work from home afterwards and then I would settle down and get an apartment in that area.

So if there is anyone in that area exeter, Plymouth or anywhere around where I can manage for this days, I'll be extremely happy. I've checked hotels around those areas it's about £60-£90 per night.

Anyone have any suggestion or advice?

i thought we hammered on the bolded in the past.

sometimes its cheaper to just buy a new car rather than do some repairs. Plus you will be paying for the car repairs, i am sure the neighbour was given a replacement/rental vehicle while his car was in the shop, you will be paying for that too.

And all these shops know how to delay repairs so your car will be in the shop longer than required and inflate figures especially when insurance companies is involved.

He moved here with his family late 2019 and as a family of 5 up north, we thought having a car was necessary now (probably wished we waited now ).

He got his car shortly before the pandemic and got his insurance with go girl with his naija licence. As expected he couldn't renew or attend any exam for his practical exam due to cancellation and no date available and DVLA granted10months extension till October 2021 which he thought it will be sufficient to pass.

During this time, go girl renewed his insurance automatically but unknowingly to us a Provisional Licence supersedes your international licence. Na so he lost control during that yeye february snow to go hit his neighbours car and then insurance got involved and its been one mayhem to another. They cancelled his premium and then after a while demanded the balance of his insurance and now we got bills totalling £9800 that they incurred on fixing the other car.

The annoying thing it was just a minor dent to the fender and the car is a 2011 ford worth £2,900 (according to the insurance coy). So how they spent almost £10k fixing it is beyond me.
