The Lagos State Police Command through the Detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti has recorded a great feat in the fight against criminality and armed robbery in the State.

In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP by the Command's Spokesperson, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu stated that, "Detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, have apprehended a domestic worker who conspired with one other to rob his employer, Yasushi Murata, a Japanese, and an expatriate employee of Honda Automobile West Africa Ltd but resident at Chris Ali Street, Abacha Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos."

According to Ajisebutu, "On 1st February, 2022 at about 2300hrs, the duo of Sossougueto Theodore, 50, a domestic worker to the victim, and Oluwasegun Olusoji, a neighbour, 35, conspired together and broke into the victim's residence and forced him to transfer the sum of one million naira into the Zenith Bank account of Oluwasegun Olusoji."

"After, torturing and violently assaulting the victim, the robbers who were masked, armed with a gun, and an axe, made away with his ATM card after coercing him to disclose his PIN."

"A few days after the robbery, the suspects using the ATM, unlawfully and fraudulently withdrew the sum of one million, seven hundred and twenty nine thousand, eight hundred and fifty naira, making a total of two million, seven hundred and twenty nine thousand, eight hundred and fifty naira (N2, 729, 850.00) stolen from the victim's bank account without authorization."

The suspects feared for their arrest and in order to cover up the criminal act, threatened to kill the victim if he failed to leave the country or ever disclosed what happened to anyone.

Unperturbed by the threat but pained by the injuries sustained, the victim after recovering from the trauma, reported the robbery through a petition to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti.

Consequent upon the receipt of the petition, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, DC Adegoke Fayoade, immediately assigned seasoned detectives to investigate the incident.

Painstaking investigation led to the arrest of the perpetrators. Upon interrogation, a member of the two-man armed robbery gang, Oluwasegun Olusoji, confessed to the crime and gave a vivid account of how the operation was jointly carried out.

Following the conclusion of investigation, the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has directed that the case should be charged to court.

The CP, however, admonishes employers to always carry out a thorough background check on their domestic staff before employing them, and be wary of criminal neighbours.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya has reiterated his resolve and commitment in addressing infrastructural development, as well as ensuring the welfare of Nigerian Army (NA) personnel. The COAS stated this during the commissioning ceremony of remodeled Army Headquarters (AHQ) Annex A Complex, situated at Asokoro, Abuja.

Gen Yahaya emphasized, that the successful completion of the project was propelled by deliberate efforts toward the realization of conducive working conditions for personnel, in order to enhance administrative and operational efficiency.
This, he noted, is in consonance with his vision to have “a Professional Nigerian Army, Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria”.

He added that the complex, which will accommodate three departments and an independent directorate, will decongest the main AHQ complex and provide a working environment favourable to officers and soldiers.

The COAS further disclosed that the edifice will provide office accommodation for the Departments of Army Transformation and Innovation, Civil Military Affairs, Special Services and Programmes, as well as Nigerian Army Finance Corporation. He stressed that the NA will continue to seek ways and means of improving the welfare of its personnel under his watch. The Army Chief expressed profound gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his untiring support to the NA in actualizing infrastructural development.

The COAS later commissioned the newly constructed AHQ Regimental Sergeant Major's (RSM) official residence in Shehu Musa Yar’adua Barracks, Abuja.
It will be recalled that since assumption of office, the COAS has embarked on the drive to improve the functionality and restore the lost glory of the office of the RSM across NA formations and units, by empowering them with brand new Hilux vehicles and newly constructed official residences. These serve as veritable incentives to motivate and enhance the productivity of the RSMs, as custodians of regimentation and discipline in the NA.

In attendance at the events were Principal Staff Officers from Defence and Services Headquarters, Commanders and Commandants from NA training institutions, Directors, and senior officers both serving and retired.

The General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba has frown and condemned the frequent assault and physical attacks on his officers by motorists who flaunt traffic rules.

The perpetrators of such misdemeanors would be made to face the full wrath of the law by the State Government."

According to Filade, "Oreagba said this in light of an attempted murder by a Zuzuki commercial mini bus driver (korope) with registration number KJA 953 YE, Ibrahim Yusuf on a dutiful LASTMA officer, Traffic Manager Awotola Victor, operating at the Ojodu-Berger-Ogba axis while he attempted along with the patrol team to apprehend Yusuf who was causing obstruction around 3.30pm on Saturday, February 12, 2022."

"According to reports received on the incident, Yusuf, the mini bus driver and offender, was noted to be causing willful obstruction at River Valley Estate and after refusing all entreaties to move away from the place, the vehicle was to be apprehended. The Legal Director of LASTMA, Counsel Kehinde Akerele, while commenting, noted that the criminal would be charged with attempted murder as the state government will diligently prosecute the case to a logical conclusion so as to serve as deterrent to other motoring public with similar intentions.

The General Manager concluded that government expects voluntary compliance to the state traffic laws in order to make Lagos a 21st century economy for the benefit of all and sundry.

• As IGP Orders Immediate Transfer of Case to NDLEA, Charges NDLEA to Investigate indicted officers of the Agency

The suspended Commander of the Police IRT, DCP Abba Kyari and four other officers have been arrested today in connection to their alleged involvement in case of criminal conspiracy, discreditable, unethical, and unprofessional conduct, official corruption and tampering with exhibits in a case of illicit drug trafficking involving a perpetual transnational drug cartel.

In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP by the Force Spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated that, "The Nigeria Police Force has arrested DCP Abba Kyari and four other police officers for their involvement in an alleged case of criminal conspiracy, discreditable, unethical, and unprofessional conduct, official corruption and tampering with exhibits in a case of illicit drug trafficking involving a perpetual transnational drug cartel. The arrest of the officers was sequel to pieces of information received from the leadership of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on 10th February, 2022."

According to Adejobi, "In line with standard administrative procedure of the Force, the Inspector General of Police ordered a high-level, discreet, and in-house investigation into the allegations. The interim investigations report revealed that two (2) international drug couriers identified as Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus, both males, were arrested at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu on the 19th of January, 2022 upon their arrival from Addis Ababa aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight ET917. The arrest led to the recovery of substantial quantity of powdery substance suspected to be cocaine from the two narcotic couriers. The operation which was intelligence-driven, was undertaken by a Unit of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT)."

"Although the case and the two suspects were subsequently transferred to the NDLEA on the 25th January, 2022, the findings of the in-house investigation ordered by the Inspector General of Police established reasonable grounds for strong suspicion that the IRT officers involved in the operation could have been involved in some underhand and unprofessional dealings as well as official corruption which compromised ethical standards in their dealings with the suspects and exhibits recovered."

Beyond this, the Police investigation also established that the international narcotics cartel involved in this case have strong ties with some officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu who are on their pay roll. The two arrested drug couriers confirmed that the modus is for the transnational drug barons to conspire with the NDLEA officers on duty and send them their pre-boarding photographs for identification, seamless clearance, and unhindered passage out of the airport with the narcotics being trafficked.

The two arrested drug couriers also confirmed that they have been enjoying this relationship with the NDLEA officers at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport since 2021 and had in this instant case of 19th January, 2022, been identified and cleared by the NDLEA officers as customary, having received their pre-departure photographs and other details prior to their arrival in Enugu, and were on their way out with the narcotics when they were apprehended by the Police.

The Police investigations report also indicted DCP Abba Kyari, who had been on suspension for his alleged involvement in a different fraud case being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), for complicity in the allegation of official corruption, tampering with narcotics exhibit and sundry unprofessional conducts that negate the standard administrative and investigative protocols of the Force as well as extant criminal laws. It is to be emphasised that DCP Abba Kyari’s involvement in these allegation occurred while his suspension from service was subsisting.

On the strength of the findings of the in-house Police Investigation Panel, the Inspector-General of Police has ordered the immediate arrest and transfer of all the indicted police officers to the NDLEA authorities for conclusive investigation, while appropriate disciplinary actions are also being initiated against them by the Force leadership. The concerned officers include DCP Abba Kyari, ACP Sunday Ubuah, ASP Bawa James, ASP John Umoru (at large), Inspr. Simon Agrigba and John Nuhu. They have all been, accordingly, handed over today 14th February, 2022 to the NDLEA authorities.

In so doing, the Inspector General of Police has also formally requested that the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency should ensure the identification, arrest and investigation of the Agency’s officers who have also been found to be colluding with the international drug cartel involved in this case towards advancing the anti-narcotics agenda of the federal Government.

The Inspector General of Police assures the public of his administration’s commitment to upholding the tenets and values of policing in line with the agenda of ethical regeneration, restoration of professional standard, enhancement of the anti-corruption drive, respect for the rule of law and inter-agency collaboration in the drive to stabilise the internal security order of the country.

www.trekafrica.net

Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has commenced fumigation exercise at various dumpsites in the state, starting with the Solous landfill at Igando, to make the sites safer for waste management operations, and reduce health risks to the communities where they are located.

This was made known on Monday by the Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, who said that dumpsites played critical roles in the waste management chain, paving way for the attainment of the Authority’s vision of establishing a consistent cleaner environment.

He said, “Dumpsites are crucial component for the delivery of Solid Waste Management (SWM), as they serve as final destination for all solid waste collected from residences, businesses and public spaces. They also support the protection of sanitation and public health.”

Odumboni stated that the fumigation exercise, which started yesterday (Sunday) at Solous dumpsite, Igando, would be extended to other dumpsites across the metropolis, to protect immediate and surrounding communities where the sites were situated.

“The goal of this exercise is to protect the public, and minimize the negative impacts of this sites to the neighbouring communities. Already, several mitigation measures have been put in place by LAWMA. These include, leachate and stormwater infrastructure, periodic capping of non-active sections, traffic management, monthly fumigation of the dumpsites and immediate environs”, he said.

The LAWMA helmsman pointed out that, due to their intended use, the initial locations of dumpsites in the state, were far removed from residential communities, before rapid population and urban expansion resulted to these dumpsites being surrounded by residential communities, commercial establishments and other sensitive land uses.

He expressed the Authority’s unalloyed commitment towards protecting public health, and minimising the discomfort which might be caused by the dumpsites to neighbouring communities, adding that the agency planned to close the dumpsites in the near future.

He appealed to residents to shun all practices capable of having a negative on the environment, such as indiscriminate disposal of waste and refuse burning, which was hazardous to public health.

For inquiries on recycling and waste management related issues in your area, please call LAWMA toll-free numbers: 07080601020 and 617 (for GLO users).

In his farewell remarks, Comptroller Joseph Attah who held the position for over six years appreciated the Comptroller General of Customs, Col Hameed Ali (Rtd) for the appointments and opportunity given to serve as the National Public Relations Officer for the Service.

Attah while highlighting some achievements during his tenure said the talk about the rice pyramid can’t be completed without mentioning the Nigeria Customs Service, who brought rice smugglers to their needs.

“I am happy to say that I am leaving the Unit better than I have met it; restructured and enthroned with achievements that have repositioned the Unit as a very important Unit in Customs operation and have undoubtedly become NCS Barometer.

According to him, his leadership of the PR Unit recorded unprecedented achievements which include; the introduction of PR for basic training for all recruits to help improve their civil relationships, realignment of Zonal and Command PROs under the National PRO, who now recommends their deployment based on professionalism and capabilities, the establishment of Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network; a radio and Tv station and Merit/Civil Awards” he explained.

He further revealed that the Unit got Golden awards in the profession of public relations and later of commendation which has impacted in revenue generation and anti-smuggling stride of the Nigeria Customs Service.

“More people are aware of the danger of smuggling, more people see these smugglers as enemies of the state and are willing to expose them to our operatives who now make arrest.” He reiterated.

It is my owner to hand over this noble job of the Customs National Public Relations Officer to my worthy successor DC Timi Bomodi today Friday, 11 February 2022. I have no doubt in my mind that he has the capacity to build on the modest achievements of the Unit and take it to a greater height, may God guide and provide him with the necessary wisdom to do so” he said

While appreciating journalists and his colleagues for their support and cooperation, he urged them to extend the same gestures to his successor.

In his remarks, Comptroller DC Bomodi noted that remarkable achievements were made by Attah and he promised to live up to the expectations required of him.

“We will begin to shape the perception of the public to see the Nigeria Customs Services as a leading government agency that is devoted not only to collecting maximum revenue for the government but protecting all Nigerians. He promised to put in his best. He promised to be open and transparent in relationship with the media and the public.” He said.

Meanwhile, the Supervising Officer of the Public Relations Unit, ACG Headquarters, Mohammed Abba-Kura urged Officers and colleagues to support Bomodi and Attah in their various jurisdictions.

He said with drug use prevalence in the country three times the global average, the Agency needs committed partners like the Guild to mobilise the citizentry against the menace. According to him, A number of artists dont only use, they also encourage others to abuse drugs through their work and activities on social media. We want the Guild to set good example by leading the war within its circle. Nigerian Army Debunks Allegation of Delayed Payment of Soldiers' January Salary, Says Online Report Misleading, Inciting

Oki Samson
www.trekafrica.net

The Nigerian Army has denied and debunked Online media report alleging that her personnel are lamenting over the delay in payment of their January, 2022 salary.

In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP by the Nigerian Army's Spokesperson, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu stated that, "The Nigerian Army (NA) has been notified of a publication by Sahara Reporters alleging that personnel of the Nigerian Army lamented delay in payment of their January salary, with many paid peanuts, while Generals feed fat. This report is not only misleading, but a grandiose attempt to incite personnel against established precept of discipline in the NA. For avoidance of doubt, since the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya assumed command, he has prioritized the welfare of officers, soldiers and their families, including ensuring prompt payment of salaries, allowances and all statutory entitlements to personnel. Therefore, the allegation suggesting delay and non implementation of new salary increase is a reckless falsehood in all its intent and purposes."

According to Nwachukwu, "It must be emphasised, that over the years, the NA has built a reputation and unbroken record of prompt payment of salaries and allowances. Officers and soldiers get their monthly salaries and allowances as at when due."

"Additionally, if there is any envisaged delay, troops are usually communicated through the internal communication mechanism."

It is therefore instructive to state that for the month of January, all salaries and allowances have been paid. The attempt to stir up discontent and whip up sentiment with regards to the unsubstantiated and baseless report that Generals feed fat is an outrageous frivolity. It is an attempt to incite personnel against the institution and cause disaffection in the ranks and should therefore be outrightly discountenanced.

The NA wishes to call on all credible media to distance themselves from the apparent unprofessional and disgraceful yellow journalism practiced by some media channels and purveyors of fake of news.

Our troops are in high spirit and would not be distracted by any mischievous submission by agent provocateurs.

A REWARD IS COMING

For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for Him and how you have shown your love to Him by caring for other believers, as you still do. Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.
Hebrews 6:10‭-‬11 NLT

God is not an unjust God. Just like you are expected to be paid when you work for others either weekly or monthly, God is also willing to reward anyone who works for Him. Some people assume that the only responsibility they have as children of God is to have a good relationship with Him through the Holy Spirit and worship Him in spirit and in truth. As important as this is, God also has responsibilities for you which includes caring for others through sound leadership and deep love.

As a child of God, you must learn to care for others through provision of leadership, prayers and counseling. There are people who desire to move forward in life and know God just like you do and it is the responsibility of you and I to make sure this happens. This is why you are not supposed to be a bench warmer in your church. As much as possible, get involved in the leadership of your church to help others become grounded and comfortable in life. Becoming a leader or a volunteer worker in your church is part of the big picture of helping other people.

Our Discovery Devotional tells us the most important aspect of loving and caring for others which is the reward that comes from God. We are told that He is not an unjust God who would forget to pay you for what you are doing for him. I can tell you that God has been paying me for many years and I cannot but appreciate him. There are some of us who would not even be alive if not for the mercy of God. Serving God and doing his assignment pays. You may not see it now but believe me, one day, you would be glad that you serve Him.

I encourage you today to get involved in the care system leadership of your church. Look for opportunities to care for other people and love them. God is watching all and His rewards would come when it is least expected. I pray that you would not lose and miss your rewards in Jesus name.
DISCOVERY CONFESSION

1. I am serving God with the whole of my heart and doing His work without looking back in Jesus name.

2. My rewards for loving and caring for others is coming speedily from God in Jesus name.

WAIT FOR YOUR TIME

Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.
Psalms 37:7 NLT

The world has become so evil that we barely find righteous people around. Everyone is in a hurry to become wealthy, influential and popular. People no longer care for themselves but are ready to do anything it takes to become rich including killing their fellow humans. This is a great height of wickedness. The painful part is that our nation or world now celebrates people who become wealthy regardless of how they made their money. Also, some Christians envy some of these wicked people not considering that God is angry with the wicked.

As a child of God, you must not live a life that is greedy or too concerned about earthly possessions. Our prosperity is to help others prosper and bless other people. Making money by bringing tears to the eyes of others will end in pains. Our Discovery Devotional this morning tells us to be patient for God to act. God has a timing alloted to our shinning and he knows how to bring it to come to pass. What you have been expecting may not be here yet but be patient for God to act. Stop envying wicked people and their prosperity. Your own prosperity will last forever but theirs will fade off suddenly.

I encourage you to keep praying and wait on God because He is on your case. It might look long but believe me, it will happen at the right time for you. Your responsibility is to be consistent with God and the right values of hard-work and constant development. I pray that very soon, you will enter great dimensions of wealth and prosperity in Jesus name.

DISCOVERY CONFESSION

1. I wait on God for my increase and prosperity in Jesus name.

2. 2022 marks the beginning of great levels of wealth and prosperity for me in Jesus name.

AN EXAMPLE

So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters. Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.
Hebrews 2:11‭, ‬18 NLT

Have you ever gone through certain situations you couldn't understand? Sometimes, we wonder why we have to go through some tough times or why our lives had to undergo a certain pattern. Well the answer is in the scriptures.

In our Discovery Devotional today, we see how that Jesus went through testing and suffering so that he could help others when they are being tested and they are suffering. There is no doubt that you are going through that situation because you would soon have to counsel someone on the same issue.

Several years ago, I wondered why I had to go through some things I didn't understand at that time Only to realize several years after I had become who I am now that it was deliberate by God. God wanted me to have those experiences so I would be able to appropriately help others who are going through thesame things.

Stop feeling bad about what you are going through. You cannot help others if you have not overcome the same things. Focus on coming out of it because it is going to validate your CV when it is time to help others. Praise God because you are more than a conqueror. The only way to make your story sweet when others would want to learn from you is to tell them "I went through the same thing and now I have conquered". I pray you come out victorious, strengthened and ready to help others in Jesus name.

DISCOVERY CONFESSION

1. I overcome every situation and circumstance that tries to weaken me in Jesus name.

2. I am a solution to many people's challenges and my life is a reflection of what God can do and has done in Jesus name.

CelebritiesWarning: Churches Should Not Accommodate First Timers by DejiPlug(op):
The man whose picture appears above came to worship for the first time in our church on Sunday 23rd January 2022. He fainted while service was going on and created a scene for worshippers to worry. The man was immediately taken out of the auditorium for resuscitation in the church clinic. God so good two medical doctors were in the service and prompt attentions were given. Of course, prayers were going pari-passu with the medical care. It was observed that the feet of the man were getting code and pulse was low. He was given drip and some tests conducted on him. To the glory God the man was resuscitated after some time.

When the man could speak, he was asked his name and he said he is John Samuel. He narrated that he was called on phone to come for a cooking job in Lagos in October 2021 because his job is cooking. On getting to Lagos, his invitee by name Wasiu came to pick him from the park. Somehow, he slept off in the car and by the time he woke up he found himself in a room with three other guys. The four of them were naked and their captors came for them one after the other at different days.

According to him the captors could not use him for their ritual, and he was dropped on a bridge that morning. It was in the process of wondering about that he located our church and decided to come and worship.

Some of the questions asked and responses were:
Are you married? No.
Where are you from? Usieluku, Delta State
Can you give us phone number of any of your family member? I can’t remember any phone number. Contacts I could call are in my phone which the captors took away with my bag.

We decided to assist him to relocate him back to his family in Delta State. According to him there is a transport service that goes to their village in Ojuelegba. After eating two plates of rice with coke and water he had strength to walk. We decided to report his case in the nearby police station. The Policemen on duty after asking various questions from the man advised that relocating him to his family is better because the man could not produce any contact to call. The policemen also advised that we take him to standard transporter in Jibowu.

We proceeded to Jibowu and bought a ticket of a bus going to his area. Contact number of a church member was used for the booking and the cashier was asked to call the number if there is any issue. The booking was done around 3:00pm and the bus was to leave around 7:00pm. We gave John N5,000.00 to eat on the way, pay for any other expenses and have something to still take home. We left him in the park.

At about 4:15pm we received a call from the transport company that John said he did not want to travel again because of his health and demanded for refund of transport fare. The company called to inform us, and we asked the company to hold on that we would come back. Before we got there the man has left after making trouble with the company for not refunding the money to him. Graciously, the company returned the fare to us.

Learning Points
1. Church should take extra caution in dealing with first timers with all sorts of issues and stories. Is our duty to help and God will help us to render help that will not backfire.
2. Churches should not offer accommodation to first timer in the church. Many churches have had their finger burnt in the process.
3. Take good look of the picture in case the man shows up in your church.
4. As we pray for new people to join our churches God will lead genuine ones to us. The Church of God will continue to match on, and the gate of hell will not prevail in Jesus’ name.
