The simple solution to the 419 problem is to prosecute the victims. In about 90% of cases, 419 letters are an invitation to commit a crime:

recieve prizes for lottery you did not play.
Pose as next of kin for someone you do not know.

Transfer money you did not earn to your account.

Benefit from contracts you did not win.

Generally, criminologist have found out that the desperation of the perpetuator is strong enough to risk punishment. But the victim is not desperate enough to risk conviction. They just want to earn easy risk free money.

By the time one or two of those maga that come crying on the shoulder of the EFCC are convicted and thrown into Kirikiri for conspiracy to launder money, abetting fraud and impersonating an inexistent next of kin, the rest will run away.

Jobs are being created in Nigeria gradually, but any attempt to generally agitate the business of 419 will lead those boys back to armed robbery. The 419 market itself is gradually thinning out. Its no more paying that much.

This proposal should be taken seriously and victims of 419 should be invited to Nigeria to aid in investigation, but if they are found to be involved in any complicity like our friend rolandwhy. He is a victim but that doesn't mean he didn't commit a crime. He was soliciting a criminal service and should be sent to a maximum security prison.

rolandwhy, I'm not wishing you evil, but the truth is that you "victims" are also involved in the crime and you are the ones that can be easily apprehended by law enforcement agents because you come out to confess your crime thinking you haven't done anything wrong.

Please I am sending this message to the EFCC. Those of you who feel this is a line of action that could work should join me in sending your views to the EFCC.

With the rate at which these scams are being pulled, none of you will believe what I just discovered recently. Knowing that a lot of people have been scammed by them, these scammers are now re-scamming the already scammed by posing as the EFCC and telling them that they are helping to investigate their case. They have a fertile field of victims to harvest from by simply going to internet groups formed by those that have already been scammed. Can you beat that?!

privatization of the refineries would be painful if in its current government ownership, it is a joy to Nigerians.

Left to me, I believe that those refineries should be given away to any Nigerian company that can run it efficiently. It is just in trying to avoid bias that a price quotation should then be in place.

You can imagine a Nigerian Senator complaining that the Crude Oil currently in stock at the Port Harcourt Refinery is worth more than $800 million. Did any of the bidding companies ask them for crude oil? Why can't the NNPC siphon off their $800 million crude oil, sell it off and return the money to the Federation account?

What is this rubbish all about. I am happy that BlueStar pulled out. They came in to rescue the refineries and make them profitable companies, but Nigerians just do not want to see another Nigerian profit even if he's serving you well.

When the Chinese came to bid $102 million for Kaduna Refinery, no Nigerian complained. When BlueStar bid $160 million for same refinery, nobody hailed them just because they are Nigerians we must believe they are robbing us.

Shebi they are pulling out now? Let Kupolokun and his Zombies go and run down the remaining life in those refineries and vandalize them further so that when the Chinese come back to Kaduna Refinery, they will be pricing it for $30 million!

This is crazy. Bail is not granted to somebody who has a history of jumping bail. What kind of crazy Judge granted that?

Our judiciary, they are trying and they are doing their best, but they seriously need re-training. One is ordering flogging, the other is granting bail to a known bail jumper.

Well, I've taken two so far. I was very confident when I went in for both. However, the first time, I went to the Hospital late and they lab scientist had to close so they told me to come back the next day. I wasn't happy with that but I still did.

My second experience was much better. I wasn't even planning to take a test. Nigerians do not like coins traditionally. Whoever brought the idea for the CBN to print these new coins should be fired.

You need to study the history of currencies and cultures so that you can understand that some things just don't work with some people. Imagine selling satchet pure water on the streets of New York.

The problem with change is that Nigerians like to carry big, big notes. They don't like carrying change except when they have an immediate need for it. You can imagine somebody who wants to withdraw N5,000 will demand five notes of N1,000.

The only time Nigerians wish they had low denominations is when they need it for change. They don't just carry change as money. If someone buys something with a N500 note and is given change of N460 all in N20 denominations, the person will start cursing.

The Central bank should not print any more currency. If they withdraw the amount of higher denomination notes and replace them with "change" there will be serious competition between those who really need to carry large volumes of cash and those who just like carrying high denomination notes around for fun. If the government does not withdraw the higher denomination notes and just increases the amount of lower denomination notes, they'll be excess liquidity in the system and that is bad in more ways than one.

The CBN or Almighty Government has nothing to do directly on this matter. Indirectly though, they are encouraging the use of e-money: credit cards, wise transfers, debit cards and ATMs. That is going to cut down on the demand for change when all these new forms of e-money become very popular among Nigerians and we are getting there soon.

That is your solution to the change problem.

you don't understand my worry about the NNPC, NLC, some Senators and some Nigerians that are revaluing the Refineries upwards and claiming that the Refineries can easily be put back on track.

If this is the case, then why can't they invite corporations that will buy these facilities at the billions of dollars.

If they can't bring in those organizations, then, they should coop shares together via their Unions and buy these facilities over so they can manage it themselves.

If they can't, then let them just shut the hell up!

I initially doubted thabo's true identity and primary goal because he came in with sly and pretence. But when he kept on condemning Nigerians under the guise that he was a South African, after he saw I wouldn't budge, he started trying to sell me a story that South Africa has a secret imperialist plan to dominate the whole of Africa. When he saw I was in support of that too, he just generally started hating.
