I am yet to see reputable Nigerian dog breeders who breed shih tzus, Bichons, Sealyham terriers, Scottish terriers, Dachshund, West Highland terriers, Welsh corgis, doberman pincher, Labrador retrievers, Miniature Schnauzers, American Cocker spaniels, etc. I doubt the average Nigerian dog breeder is familiar with any of these dog breeds.

How many Nigerian dog breeders breed for quality and make sure their dogs are tested for certain genetic diseases associated with each dog breed?

How many Nigerian dog breeders are knowledgeable about the dog breed they sell?

Nigeria does not even have a reputable organization that oversees the ethical breeding of dogs like we have the American Kennel Club (AKC) in the United States or the Kennel club in the UK.

Puppies sold in Nigeria don't come with registered papers like in the US, UK or South Africa. You don't know the bloodline of the dog or if the dog comes with any genetic defect or diseases.

How man puppies being sold in Nigeria have been vaccinated against DHPP (vaccines for distemper, adenovirus [hepatitis], parainfluenza, and parvovirus), rabies and Bordatella? How many puppies before going to their new homes have been dewormed? ANSWER: None! Nigerian dog breeders don't even know about these things. They are just all about making money and selling puppies like commodities.

When I am ready for a puppy, I am definitely getting mine from a reputable breeder in Europe, South America or South Africa. And my puppy will come with registration papers and vaccine shots all taken and dewormed. Finish!
