In fact, Hillary was right, there is no question about it. But Nigerians should get themselves together quickly and shouldn't allow people like Hillary to come on Nigerian soil to criticize anything. Nigeria is not perfect just like United States. I wonder how Americans would feel if a leader from another country comes to their country to criticize the way these animals (mostly republicans) are treating Obama just because of the color of his skin or how their government indirectly allowed corruption to bring down their economy or how their leaders lied to the world to destroy many lives. Hillary could go ahead and continue to travel the world to point at what is wrong with the way women are treated or how badly African leaders are corrupt. The fact remains the same, America or Americans can't tell me shit till they discover the best method to solve their own problems. Nigerians, it's time to get it together. Instead of just returning home to make money, let us all come together to make things better in Nigeria. This country isn't that bad at all. |
Sanmi: If you have the money and the right connections, you can not do wrong by getting these stuffs from China. I also agree that one has to mix things up in Nigeria to be a successful business owner. Good luck. |
To be an effective president one must completely understand politics, one must obey the laws, one must respect human rights under all conditions, one must be able to view problems and solve problems broadly, one must not be selective, one must be able to check his or her emotion, one must not crave for power and one must not be power-drunk. I agree that Ribadu may become the next Obama or president (as anything is possible in Naija), but he isn't going to be an effective president. But he is still a great Nigerian. |
My only question is: Why is Ribadu hidding? Why is he making himself look like a criminal? Why is he painting himself as an incompetent "lawyer"? If his security in Nigeria is the issue, I still believe that there are many ways to over-come this issue. My advise is for him to return with condition, tackle all charges and make all his supporters proud. Hidding in UK or USA is not the answer, it's only making himself look like another dirty government official. |
The importance of this topic is to show how quick Mr.No-Name is sent to jail in Nigeria, while our big name leaders (politicians) who stole billions from us are still chilling freely all over the world. The dude was captured in July, it is only August 4th and he has already been sentenced. But on the other hand, Dr. Kalu, Dr. Ibori, Dr. Fani Kayode, Dr. Fayose and others have been captured for over a year and nothing has been done. We don't even know if their cases are still open. Nigeria is our country, no place like Nigeria. |
This is why I try not to take anything Nigerian too serious. It is a pity to even know that this woman still exist. In a normal (civilized) environment this woman would be busy looking into changing her last name. And if you think about it, her statement “If not that I have my stepson, Senator Kamorudeen Adedibu, in the Senate, I would have said that those who are afraid of me should meet me at the senatorial contest.”is not for anybody but a message to her stepson. |
I didn't say it, but do you guys think CIA has something to do with this matter? Just reposition the incident and take a good look at it. The root of a cancer must be killed immediately, there is no need to prolong the matter. |
@stagger: You are not paying attention. I wasn't trying to scare anybody, I was only flashing light on things new business owners tend to forget or ignore. 90% of new businesses fail within the first 2 years and you wonder why. Yes, the roads in Nigeria are very bad and I think it is extremely important for a new Haulage business owner to pay attention to these things. Many on this site indicated that the key to a successful Haulage business in Nigeria is the driver. And I totally disagree. There are 4 keys: 1. Great Driver 2. Great Mecho 3. Direct or easy access to parts (to repair the truck as needed). 4. A lion heart to deal with ups and downs If u think this statement is scary, then I'm afraid to say you're heading toward Failure Blvd. |
Just keep in mind that trucks mostly don't break down right next door to mecho shop. Think about the process you have to go through to fix a broken truck next to the highway. Let us also say that the truck is full of customer's goods, which can not be left on the truck overnight. This means the truck has to be repaired the same day. This also means your reliable mecho must be available and part to fix the truck must also be ready. How do you handle this type of scenario? Because this might happen once or twice a month. Be a smart business owner, just don't go into a new business by only looking at the pouring of the honey, it is also critical to pay attention to the inevitable rain fall. It sounds like a great business, but get to know the business first before diving into it. |
I'm not sure if this business is the right one to operate in Nigeria, because: 1. The roads are very bad. therefore, you might end up spending the little that you make on constant mecho visit 2. It is hard to come across a dedicated and honest driver in Nigeria. 90% of available drivers in Nigeria today will only give you heart attack because they can not be trusted. 3. Unreliable mecho. When your truck breaks down, it means no money, Nigerian mecho understand the importance of your truck to your business, therefore they will not hesitate to take advantage and capitalize on making a living out of you and your truck. Driver is not the only key to the business. Mecho and access to the parts (to repair your truck) and a very strong stamina (to be able to deal with the ups and downs) represent another important keys to a successful haulage business in Nigeria. As a starter or new business owner, I still do not think this is the right business for you. |
@DepilotSanmi: I will be honest with you, I do not know much about fish farm business in Nigeria, but I was told by many Nigerians that the business is very lucrative and it requires less to get started. Once you get yourself a nice location and with money in the pocket, I think the rest will come together gradually. Getting customers shouldn't be that difficult, Nigerians will patronize your business if the quality of what you're selling is high and the price is not too expensive. Getting a location depends on where you reside in Nigeria, I heard that Jos is not a bad area in the north and Ogun state (very close to Lagos) is another great area for this type of business. I can get you more info on Oil and Gas business through a third party (my brother) for free. Just post your email address or send me a good email address and you will hear from me. Good luck, my brother. |
@Sanmi: 2 key points for you: 1. Be very careful of 419. In Nigeria today many 419ers prefer to pick on fresh blood journey just come like yourself. I'm not saying everyone is 419 and out there to get you, I'm just advising you to be smart and watch out. 2. The best way to discover a lucrative business in Nigeria that is also compatible to your life-style is to come on down and taste the water. Give yourself up to 5 months to really understand the system. If you don't take time out to first understand the system, you will be a lost soul for a very long time. For someone who has been gone for 10 years and doesn't want to work for anybody, here are some business ideas: 1. Gas and Oil 2. Importing goods from China 3. Importing cars and trucks 4. Importing car and truck parts 5. Getting all kinds of Contract work (construction, information technology, commercial maintenance etc) 6. Bar and restaurant 7. Farming 8. Tent and chair rental I hope this helps. |
First of all, this is not America or UK, this is Nigeria; Bros Dangote may not be strong as ever, but he can not go broke. His foundation is damn too strong. He has enough for his great grand children. Secondly, Dangote made his first mistake by making too much noise and also making himself available to be listed by Forbes magazine as amongst the world’s richest men. Finally, Dangote has made it clear to all that he knows nothing about business and politics. He needs to brush up this area and get right back on the track or else he will become Nigerian Mike Tyson in just few years. A DJ must also dance to his own music sometimes. This is what is going on with Mr. Dangote and he knows it too. |
@People: The problem here is that 98% of the lastma or lostmen are thieves. They are known to mostly collect bribes; and I hope something is done about their lowlife behaviour on the streets of Lagos State. This is based on my personal experience with these bastards. They are worse than the Nigerian Police Force. They can all die and go straight to hell. |
“I was just coming out of operation theatre. The wound was fresh. That was the day the stitches were removed; I was still bleeding when I was kept in that conditionThis man is a lucky man, he should be thankful that they did not make the other side of his body to bleed while he was in jail. He needs to keep quiet and enjoy the rest of his looted money. Noone should feel bad for any leader that comes out of Nigeria. With all our oil money and the status of the BIMBO of Africa, Nigeria as a country still struggles to provide electric power supply for her citizens. Just 2 months ago, record shows that 80 Percent Nigerians Live Below Poverty Line. Did any of you see how Lagos state was flooded with rain water over the weekend? (http://www.ngex.com/cgi-bin/frame/frameit2.plx?link="http://www.tribune.com.ng") No drainage system, no power supply system, no water supply system; but people seem to be very happy driving around in their luxury cars. Aint that something? It is a total mess and nothing to write home about. 2011 is around the corner, the thieves are starting to emerge one by one with their sad stories. A common strategy to get back on track and on the side of the public. All for another political position; h ell NO!. Alams can go straight to h ell, nobody gives a damn about his experience in London jail. |
Obama's decision to bypass Nigeria was not made by mistake, it was intentionally designed and I totally understand why he has made this decision at this time. But instead of us prescribing for this gist to be killed, why not try and identify reasons why Nigeria is being neglected and what can be done to re-capture our old fame as a great country? People seem to be accepting our current status and I'm not sure if this is the right approach. This country must not be sold easily, because buying it back might be very tough to do. The fact that things are currently not right in Nigeria should have motivated Obama more to want to visit this country. In fact, it has been reported that Obama is currently in Russia finding better ways to forget the past and correct the presence and future; I do not think the political or economic structure in Russia is better than the one in Nigeria. If it's better, it's not much. Therefore, if Obama could manage to visit Russia, I think visiting Nigeria shouldn't be a big deal. We need Obama to come and show our leaders what a true leader is made of, and I hope he considers coming before the end of his term. |
So, you think your large fonts will change things? Wow, now I see why it's so easy for Northerners to continue to run things. |
I agree with you guys, but it isn't cool for Obama to now ignore our country after all the support we gave him during the election period. I honestly believe that the fact that things are not being done properly in Nigeria should motivate Obama more to want to come and show his support to at least the poor citizens, who have no voice. Don't you think? |
yep, I agree. I think we should stick to bringing R Kelly, P Diddy, Neyo and JZ to come and entertain our suffer heads from time to time. I doubt it if Obama will ever visit our "lovely land full of honey" during his current 4 yr term. I guess, this is a true sign for our greedy and foolish leaders to go somewhere cold and die. |
Personally, I hate the fact that Nigeria as the giant of Africa is gradually being pushed aside by the world. In fact, it hurts deep down for Obama, that got 1000% support of Nigerians world wide to now ignore our nation. But to be fair, I totally understand why Barack Obama has made this decision. Look at us and look at our country, Nigeria from North to South and from East to West, who on his or her right mind wants to be associated or involved with this country at this point in time? Our election process or system is a total mess. Constant electric power supply is impossible. Medical system is totally defective or may I say in shambles. 100% of our leaders of today and from the past stole heavily from the country. Our education system is structurally dysfunctional and fails to prepare learners. 419 emails all over the world are still labelled with Nigerian faces. All current leaders are picked and not elected. Nigeria as number 5th in the world as oil supplier, yet Nigerian citizens still line up to buy gas at the gas station on a regular. Just last month it was confirmed that 85% of Nigerian citizens in Nigeria live below poverty level. Infrastructure all around the country is less than poor. So, what exactly do you expect Obama to come and discuss with Yaradua? |
SANUSI IS an Islamic Scholar who dont know Jack about economics or banking, WHy he was chosen as CBN governor is a mystery. Or probably is the governments plan to gradually islamicize the Nigerian banking system@waffigbo You sound like an uninformed dude. Please take some time out and do your home work; get to know the man and I can assure you that you will change your mind. |
Sanusi was only answering a very simple question with a straight forward answer. I think the poster of this topic has problem with northerners running the show. I can also assure you that this poster is from the same town as Soludo. Instead of looking for ways to bring Sanusi down, why not give him a chance and get to know what the man is capable of doing. It is for sure that he's qualified for the position; And the record shows that he has only held the position for less than 2 months. So, what is this poster is already crying for? |
Well, one thing is certain, Yaradua is not a thief, unlike many before him. He still remains one of a kind; as we, Nigerians are not used to a leader that doesn't steal. That alone for me is enough to give him A+ |
Other members of the group include Muritala Aliyu, formerly of the Power and Steel Ministry; Umaru Dembo, minister under General Abdulsalami Abubakar, Mr. Buba Galadima, and Hon. Tanko Abari.Could someone please ask these thieves what they know about telecommunication and what they've done for this nation throughout their hopeless lives? Nigeria is 48 years old and the only single thing that fairly works in this country is telecommunication; this same telecommunication also happens to be handled by private sector. So what the hell are these idiots talking about? Reading the article, they surely sound like they love their country, but the truth is: once private sector takes over anything that is poorly controlled by the fed government, it means that is the end of stealing in the name of serving the fed govt or country. It also means the end of fake contracts to friends and family. I will buy what ever these junkies are selling if they are kind enough to list one single thing that is currently being controlled by the fed govt, that works. |
Kobokobo. I see that its not just me. U seem to feel an irepressible need to keep attacking any post with "oh, Nigerians blame others for their troubles". U ask baseless, incoherent questions, "what if, why this, why that" yet bring nothing to the discuss. Without a doubt, u lack sense. If you pay attention to kobo's posts, you will realize that he or she has nothing to contribute. He or she simply likes to talk and tends to mostly talk in circle; therefore, anything that will keep him or her busy talking is the greatest. When folks like this individual doesn't talk, they tend to get very sick. |
This is the reason why we will continue to see son of Abacha, son of IBB, son of Atiku, son of Shagari, son of Buhari and many other sons of politicians in politics. Mostly to be taken as a serious politician in Nigeria you must have at least 3 of the following: Money, Connections, Education, Confidence and from a powerful family. Now, how do you expect an ordinary Joe to successfully compete with these politician children, who happens to have it all? |
He might make a general statement regarding MJ's accomplishments on the day of the final burial, but do not expect any official statement until the result of the autopsy comes out. That is what a leader does when the cause of death of a world wide super star is unclear. |
Micheal Jackson: No Official Statement From Obama; Why? @topic: Because Obama is not a fool. He likes to fully understand what is going on before making any comment. |
I'm not saying Ribadu is guilty of anything, but it's only fair for Nigerians, especially the kids, the future of this nation to hear his side. We all deserve to know the truth. Nuhu Ribadu must return home ASAP to face these charges or else he will forever be labelled as another corrupt hypocrite that took advantage of his position of authority to exploit our unmanaged government structure. |
*MUST READ* http://www.ngex.com/news/public/article.php?ArticleID=666 Why Yar’adua Is After Ribadu And El-Rufai June 24, 2009 When the Holy Bible said “the wicked shall be trapped by their own conceit,” it never had Nuhu Ribadu, Nasir El-Rufai and Umaru Yar’adua in mind. Though the three men are Moslems, this verse of the scripture is being fulfilled in their lives. By my political distaste of everything that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, now President Umaru Yar’adua represent, it would have been a welcomed development that Nuhu Ribadu, the former EFCC chairman and Nasir El-Rufai the former FCT minister, opted for a thorough smear against Yar’adua but for the fact that the ranting of the two estranged former top government officials were half truths and its becoming very irritating.Almost all the daily national newspapers of Sunday 21 June, 2009 had on their cover Ribadu’s claims that President Yar’Adua not only forced him into exile but is now after his life. The first question is: how come an exclusive interview by the BBC Hausa service in London managed to find its way into the cover pages of almost all the major national newspapers? From experience in the media it is almost impossible to have such coincidence except someone paid and planted the story to gain undeserved sympathy and cheap popularity. When Ribadu in his BBC-Nigerian newspapers’ story claimed that Yar’Adua was after his life because “the way we worked in the past, this government does not like,” he was very correct. How can this government like the way they worked in the past when in broad daylight the duo had almost toppled Yar’Adua’s ambition of taking over from Obasanjo. Ribadu almost single handedly jailed Yar’Adua when it was clear to him and El -Rufai that Obasanjo had made up his mind on handing over power to him. As far back as 2005, EL-Rufai, Ribadu, amongst other members of the Obasanjo economic team held a meeting in London where they agreed and finalized plans that one of them would succeed Obasanjo as President in 2007.Meanwhile, whatever was perceived as irreconcilable differences between Atiku and Obasanjo was created and fueled by El-Rufai and Ribadu, who because of their hidden political agenda saw the disagreement between the President and his vice over the third term agenda as an opportunity to smear and remove Atiku whom they know, as at then, was the only strong force that can withstand and challenge their evil plot. Despite the fact that Atiku single handedly brought the duo into government and marketed them to limelight, they completely destroyed the man that made them and forced him out of PDP. I know God will add this when judging the matter as implored by Ribadu. It was when Atiku finally left the villa and the PDP that El-Rufai, Ribadu and other members of the economic team held the second session of the London power shift meeting at Kaduna in 2006. At the meeting, they agreed that since Obasanjo failed to consider Buhari as his successor that a member of the economic team must take over from him and they chose El-Rufai for the Presidency. Some members of the team including Fani Kayode, the former Aviation Minister, Akin OsunTokun, former Presidential Adviser, Media, Mallam Uba Sani former special assistant on public affairs, all now estranged, were sent to inform Obasanjo who was on a short vacation at Ota on their “patriotic decision” to ensure his economic reform agenda continues even when he leaves office.Nigerians should know that this bitter quarrel between Yar’adua, Ribadu and El-Rufai actually started in 2006 when Obasanjo finally tipped Umaru Yar’Adua even before publicly announcing him as his successor. When it was clear that Obasanjo won’t go back on his decision against El-Rufai’s candidacy, Ribadu, the then EFCC boss came up with another agenda to rubbish Yar’adua’s purported corruption-free credentials as governor of Katsina state to create way for duo to make case for El-Rufai as the only credible northerner with corruption-free credentials.
and charges of fraud and corruption against the Katsina state government were cooked up in 2006 and EFCC agents swoop-in on Katsina state government officials and arrested so many of the governor’s aides. The governor himself knew that he was the actual target so he cried out to Obasanjo who was abroad then “soliciting for foreign investors.” |
I think we Nigerians tend to mostly compare the worst with the worst when it comes to analysing the progress or actions of our leaders. Tunde got below 35%, therefore it is also acceptable for Emeka to get only 36%. Nigerians will say "Emaka really tried" And this why Nigerian leaders do not feel that they need to do much once they get the position. But what about twisting things for a change. Segun Got 99%, therefore it is a must for Dele to get 100%. My point is: it is useless and hopeless to continue to compare ribadu with Ibori or Kalu; why not compare him with Obama or Idiagbon? |
the evils that men do live live with them.I agree. |
