ebizsols:
@desola it is really a pity when people who are not widely travelled sit in Lag or is it the UK and envisage a SW utopia, well let me remind you that all your states even lagos rely heavily on "chop money"in the name of allocation from Abuja.
So what happens when the ND decides to take their "destiny" as you rightly pointed out in their own hands?
Remember this, Lagos was not built on your peoples "percieved" ingenuity or enterpreneural dexterity, but rather it was built by first the Europeans, then the military juntas via nd resources, so dont let the current white elephant projects going on in your region deceive you into believing that your region is on course and should not bother itself with an impending revolution.
All that you need to start doing now is harnessing your human resources cos I bet you when oil stops to flow I wonder if your other village states will rely on Lag who cant even pay its workers when obj seized its monthly allocation or subvention a couple of years back, think about that,
YOu lot really need to take a break from your fixation with Lagos. Although Lagos is the Yorubas, it is not the be it all and end all of us as a people. Furthermore, no where in my post did I refer to Lagos so why the panic?

Lagos, is and would remain our administrative state but we as a people have more going for us than Lagos. There is oil in Ondo and this same Ondo is a leader in cocoa production. We would not mention the mineral resources in Ogun alone or the agricultural benefits lying untapped in Ekiti. Aside these resources I speak of, we have ingenuity on our side being our abilities to run an effective government is second to none as I earlier professed. If all these attributes are then coupled with co-operation among all the Yoruba states, why would we need to worry ourselves with Nigeria? Nigeria can continue to run on auto pilot which in good time, i'm sure it would crash, but we Yorubas should suffer minimal effects of its collapse if we continue in the manner in which we have embarked now.

Yes, you are not wrong that oil is a big player in our existence now but my contribution was based on the advise that we need to start harnessing ourselves now for the time the oil will no longer be there and it seems that we are already taking that initiative.

Lagos is what we have now but it is only minuet in what we can achieve as a region.

So you see, there is no need for us to revolt because doing so would mean that we believe in one Nigeria and that we are signatories to being continuously held in this sham marriage.
PoliticsRe: Would You Join A Nigerian Revolution? by Desola(f): 10:34am On Oct 24, 2011
A Nigerian revolution would be a waste of time and lives.

A regional revolution is much more ideal where we would be in control of our resources and our government. Right now, the Oodua nation seems to be leading the pack and if any of our appointed leaders should falter, we replace them sharpish.

Regional developments such as the rail link between the western states, agriculture etc is putting us at the fore front. Let those who believe in living side by side with Hausas and ibos go ahead and revolt but those of us who are systematically taking control of our destiny should stay right out of it.

Ugly? That is the best you can come up with? Your origin is a scar on the human race. You and your household, your village and the entire ibo race are a waste of useful space. Chimpanzees would have made better occupants of your slot in life.

Anyway, you lot should just hurry and donate your life freely to the foolish, uncalculated war of the ND against the Hausas. We know that your lives are not worth a dime a dozen, anyway. As it was in 1967, so shall it be in 2011 and beyond.

It would be myopic of me to neglect the IGR at Fash's disposal. Nevertheless, i'm not in anyway placing the other Western states on par with Fash or expecting the same goods as is being delivered by Fash. I just want to see a project which have been harped on about to see the light of day. I want them to quit being just 'sayers' but to become doers. Aregbe needs no more time to deliver, the time is now! He doesn't even have to bring in these new cargo rails he talked about just yet, but to do something tangible. I do commend him for meeting and surpassing the minimum wage requirement but so far, that is all I can allude to him but that didn't go without some protest (although we know that PDP machinery were/are at work).

If Fashola can do this much in less than 6 years, then I believe that the other states can deliver half of a quater of what he (Fash) has done so far. It's time to start requesting the dividend of our votes and the trust we have placed in their capabilities.

Come on! What would it take to deliver in states with much less population than Lagos? PDP or not, these people should sit up and give us something to sing about.

Eko Ile:
It's very hard to take them seriously. It's quite understandable that after so many decades of leadership neglect that's still going on, they need something to keep throwing out their to lift themselves up and boost their self esteem and that's why you see all the silly daily SW and SE comparisons. It's a sign of inferiority complex, SW is what they'd love to be, but can never be simply because of their orientation, make up and outlook.

About, the SW roads and rail systems, the fact that many of the state's in the SW are taking the bull by the horn with different transportation initiatives like Lagos and their metro rail which is def' going to pull a lot of cars off the road, the 10 lane Badagry express to handle ECOWAS commerce.

Ogun just Awarded a Six-lane Road Contract. The NRC is now hauling cement in Ogun State

Ekiti also awarded N899m road contracts for Ado-Ilawe Road and Ado-Afao Road

And we've all seen Arebge's determination with rail cargo and road transportation.

Obviously, more needs to be done, but these guys are not sleeping, development is their main currency with the electorates so I don't think they are about to let up.
Aside the 'acting' governor of Lagos state - His excellency Babatunde Raji Fashola, I still remain to be convinced by the others. So far, they have done a lot of talking with little evidence of their proposal. I want to see pictures of works being carried out just as I can easily reach into the archives to pull out photographic evidences of 'Fash's' work.

All others need to stop riding on Fash's glory and just deliver!

Even in the humour, 2much makes a lot of sense.

I am just glad to be Yoruba but sad to have been lumped with dullards such as the ibos and the Niger deltans who do not strategise but go about beating their chests, bragging about wars they can never ever win - very primitive people indeed.

The Hausas, as earlier said, have absolutely nothing to lose and would fight to their last drop. It's only a shame that one of the propagandists is Itsekiri but I guess even Yorubas can change once they find themselves in the land of the primitives. Whichever way, I give no two fingers if the ND and ibos live or die, so long they don't bring their 'ish' Westward, we should be dandy.

Hausas should show them a thing or two and whilst doing so, they should take them as slaves and take over their oil to teach them a lesson for their on coming generations.

Nigeria's greates mistake was to allow the enemy stay in the fold. You don't expect the ibos, after fighting and losing a war terribly to suddenly become one with you. That is why generations after the war, their hatred of Nigeria is growing in leaps and bounds. You should think and wonder why younger generations would be so full of hate and wickedness and you would find the answer in their parents; their parents have been feeding them the hatred so while Nigerians go about their daily activities, an ibo man is plotting on the day the would kill everyone because they believe that everyone but them is at fault. They are the saints and Nigeria is the sinner. What you see on this board is only a tip of the iceberg from these wicked people. My fear is that when they do strike, my people would bear the brunt of it because we have fallen into a deep slumber and allowed these wicked souls to infiltrate our land and eat with us. They would kill Yorubas and they would enjoy doing it. Until the Yorubas wake up and start being tribal and defend their land, the evil that has been growing within us will eventually erupt. You should look at the numbers in which they are trooping into our land and despite living comfortably, they are not relenting until they see our downfall.

The Hausas agains the ibos would be alright anyday. The Hausas are not afraid to lose their lives for what they believe in so any confrontation made by the ibos would always leave the wicked ibos at the losing ends. Yorubas however would have sustained too many casualties before regaining its consciousness.

Nigeria although should not have agreed for the other easterners to be greedily taken over by the ibos, it should have however let the ibos go. Nigeria should have carved off other easterners who did not wish to go with ibos to stay and cut of the cancer called ibo.

Hausas on the other hand are a different case. I still believe that they are good people who are acting out because they were obviously cheated out of an agreement. Jonathan did them wrong and that is the reason why they are acting out. It is not about religion but about the presumed Southern conspiracy to scheme them out.

Hausas are far less dangerous than the bastards we continue to allow to live within us.

The ealier we begin a SOVEREIGN N C the beta for all of us, to avoid a Rwanda in this country O
The earlier this happens, the better but we are all aware that the power that be would force the status quo as they benefit greatly from it.

A revolution is what we need to avert the looming bloodshed. If we don't stand up against the oligarchs now, we would pay dearly for it in the nearest future. Nigeria, truly has outlived its course and the only way forward is for everyone to either return to their tents or for us to reach a mutual agreement on how to live together.

However, if we find a solution to us living together now, the ugly head of separation would rise in future. It takes no crystal ball to know that Yorubas do not like ibos and that Hausas just can't stand anyone else who isn't like them or a muslim.

Wow! I am very glad that he touched on tourism also as I believe that Lagos has an untapped potential with its beautiful beaches (or should I say potentially beautiful). With the current air of displeasure and the silent murmur of breakup, Lagos as the administrative and commercial nerve of Oodualand, needs to look into diversification and start to wean itself off the government of Nigeria and the manpower that Nigeria produces.

Let's look inwardly people; stop slaving for Nigeria and start smelling the strong coffee coming from the Nigerian kitchen. All these "the government at the centre" has to stop! We are the government and if we stand together as the broom, we would do exploit.

Okay, so I have gone off tangent again but the message is undeniable. As for the statements made by Fashola, it makes me proud to be an Oodua and shows that the West is sprawling with enlightened individuals.

God bless Lagos, God bless Yorubaland.

Let them continue to hate jo, that is why they will never do well and attain the heights that we as a people have. They would continue to lag behind and even the Niger Deltans would become more relevant than them. It is happening and I wish the ND the very best. They deserve good things with the way the country have decimated them and abused their land. I do hope they use jonasatan's opportunity at the top judiciously and make a mark on their existence as a people.
