Politics › Re: Breaking News: Fresh Bomb Blast Kill 12 In Kaduna by DisGuy: 2:26pm On Apr 23, 2011
Having said that, we need to look at the "situation of things on the ground" and be realistic and objective, as to "what" GEJ can do and "when" he can do it.

Take the following into consideration:

1.)  Nigeria is a tribally and religiously divided country: The implication of this is that a President (especially one from the opposing side), has to be very careful in taking "drastic actions" against the "other side", even when such actions seems necessary LESS he be accused of being "anti-North". People will always play on our divisions. They will say something like "He is trying to kill the Muslims/Northerners, because he is a Christian/Southerner! Thats a sure recipe for Civil War!

2.) We live in a democratic dispensation: The implication of this is that "there are rules and regulations governing what a President can do, How he can go about doing it, who (like the NASS) must give "approval" before he can do same, e.t.c. This means he cannot act unilaterally as he deems fit. He cannot be the accuser and the judge and that is why we have 3-Tiers of government. Currently, the NASS is a bunch of thugs that have no clue, how important their job is, to the nation. All they are interested in, is how to increase their own salary and entitlements, by fiat! But what do you expect, when Senatorial Seats pass from father to son, to daughter, to wife, to in-laws and concubines?. Its a shame Cry

3.) Looking at the "circumstances" surrounding his emergence as President, in the last one year, (miraculously from being a humble Deputy Governor!) and the "intrigues" that went on for months before God exposed the Charlatans  like Turai and Andoaaka, and that former Minister for Agriculture under Yar Ardua, looking at how Yar Adua's ADC tried to murder him "if" he sat on the C-in-C's seat during the FEC meetings before Yar Adua's death was announced publicly (though we knew he was dead long before then and all those silly visits by Imams and Pastors, telling us he was doing 300-Press-ups per minute! Grin ), points to one thing: GEJ needs to thread VERY CAREFULLY!
There is a cliche which goes like "When the Sea is rough, you dont also Paddle roughly".
GEJ cannot act like a Military President, in the last one year. He knows it but most citizens dont know this and they mis-interpret his cautiousness for weakness!
security is a tough issue that deserve tough decisions, all this pandering to religious and ethnic affiliations will only make the perpetrators bold and cunning, honest decisive actions will throw all that in the garbage

OBj declared a state of emergency within 3days or a week of the jos massacre, the issued died within days of military deployment, the lil skirmished in some village in Ibadan or thereabouts came to an abrupt end almost immediately it got the FG attention, the mend boys didnt get any sympathy either- any whispering of partiality whether religious or ethnic was killed before it got anywhere

I  wonder how someone can be in the corridors of power for over 12 years and cant seem to find strong allies except one fading ex-general and 40 thieves

Chief of Defence Staff        Air Marshal Oluseyi Petinrin
Chief of Army Staff        Major-General Azubuike Ihejirika
Chief of Air Staff        Air Marshal Oluseyi Petinrin
Chief of Naval Staff       Rear-Admiral Ola Sahad Ibrahim
Inspector-General of Police        Hafiz Ringim
Director-General, State Security Service        Ita Ekpenyong

so apart from the IGP he has worked with the bayelsa nobody made a fuss of him replacing all the security chiefs with southerners- the circumstances with which he replaced these people wasnt questioned, he is the commander in chief END OF

he should pull his fingers out or else we will get a president that is forever repaying favours

reminds me of that dude that went to sudan recently one of eyinmba top scorer i think and the other guy that plays for enyimba too, those guys were banging in goals weekly in the premier league in naija, they couldn't even get an invite for a friendly game

i mean theres something really going on taht some players are totally overlooked byt he NFF and even the local media dont say anything about it almost as if there's a known secret within the federation, they'll just spend extra money inviting foreign based players even those that cant get a game for their reserves
Sports › Re: Hurray! Samson Siasia To Call Up Chuks Aneke For Argentina! by DisGuy: 1:09am On Apr 23, 2011
By the way, since Chuks Aneke has agreed to play for Nigeria, the NFF should start processing his paperwork right now so he'll be eligibe to play on June 1st against Argentina.
dont be silly, it only takes a phone call from Abuja to sort it out, alhaji danbozo will make the call on the 31st of May  grin
i mean we are not the giant of Africa for nothing if we can call the shot a day to the game kin ji ko?

If these guys are really 20 years old so good why are they playing in Norway?

How comes nobody heard about them during the under 17, under 20 tourneys we had previously, and how comes Eguavon will rather call Ahmed Musa from his club all the way from holland* just for a game or two only to release him? hmm something dey smell, me thinks their papers aint straight and the people in the know sabi

BUT I STILL WONDER WHY ALL THE ESTACODE SIPHONING BUSINESS TOURING EUROPE, WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE GUYS IN PEPSI ACADEMY, KWARA ACADEMY AND MANY MORE? ARE THEY BEING GROOMED TO PLAY FOR QATAR OR WHAT?

What justification can one giv fo d numerous incidences of mass killings in d north. I hav listened 2d lame excuse of riggin in dis instance. In anycase excuses r not far fetched. sorry how does lil whole me and my family in onitsha make NATIONAL SECURITY my priority? the dude wearing hat up and down the country, i thought that was why he is there as commander in chief? I THOUGHT THE MAIN REASON HE CHANGED ALL THE SECURITY CHIEFS TO SOUTHERNERS WAS  for him to get a good gripe, isnt the usual excuse for things like these the northernisation of the  security chiefs?
Does he think his one and only responsibility is to share money every Wednesday and host different elders' committees?

What happened to Operation Yaki- this is apparently a well know area for immigrants, i guess mr VP dropped the ball too, dumb and dumber in Aso Rock

for years now there has been known islamist sect in northern nigeria and all the sss nsa couldnt do shyte about it, we're tossed esp under this presido

Politics › Re: What If Fashola Loses? by DisGuy: 8:46pm On Apr 22, 2011
Fashola’s failure to return would reveal a different side to the Lagos voters
more like, Fashola's failue to return would reveal a different side to the rig-o-meter deployed by the GEJ led PDP

infact it would give a new meaning to the phrase ' you have not stolen enough for the owner to notice, but you have stolen everything and its packages' grin

thought you were on about the passport, to be honest i don't know much about the visa, i still get my naija p- i thought they cancelled all the express service before; but they shouldn't take that long and probably under 80quid including the processing fee

Politics › Re: President Jonathan Predicts Stable Electricity By April 2011 by DisGuy: 3:48pm On Apr 22, 2011
same here, unfortunately the feds are constitutionally in charge of the 'whole' process, any state that invest in generation will have to surrender it to the FG for national distribution as it stands; though states are also investing in other local solutions till the feds rejigs the process

Lagos state is investing in a company that builds transformers locally, some states in the east are supposedly building their independent power plants unfortunately non of them has any effect or the little they generate is being distributed nationally instead of locally
Politics › Re: On The Matter Of The 2011 Presidential Elections-Professor Mobolaji E.Aluko by DisGuy: 3:17pm On Apr 22, 2011
saying African-americans will overwhelmingly vote for barack obama is not racial baiting, whether they generally vote democrats or not

its just a minor point that is actually valid you choose to dwell on
When SW decided to vote for chosen son of the soil in 1999, SE voted PDP and the candidate’s name or tribe was not Igbo. In 2003 when SW realized that the previously rejected son of soil could stay at Aso Rock for another term, the zone decided to vote based on tribal sentiments yet the deluded author kept mute. In 2007 the SW almost boycotted the election because no son of the soil was among the contending political party flag bearers. Yet the learned professor did not find it fit to engage in his childish insinuation of tribal binge.
what, are you saying you read all his article during that period to conclude he didn't say anything?
Politics › Re: President Jonathan Predicts Stable Electricity By April 2011 by DisGuy: 3:01pm On Apr 22, 2011
certainly, especially in the case of Kwara since 2009 where the state government actually invested in the 'step down stations' during obj term coupled with the fact they have low population

not too sure about Nassarawa though

@markos I assume you're a well educated middle aged male Nigerian, I'll also assume that you're a professional and while I agree that the standard of living is better in the UK I'll also let you know that if you were in Nigeria as a middle aged professional you'll definately be richer than you are in the uk, this might be due to the fact that Nigeria is the land of the ignorant/blind or it might be due to corruption, I dont really know why but its true (not advocating that you move but just saying).

I'm not an ignorant Nigerian, I went to a relatively posh boarding school in the uk, lived in Neasden (nice neighbourhood in london), and I've actually been to the british museum as well as a couple art galleries and virtually all the places viva mentioned, so I know upper middle class england and I also know they dont make as much cash as middle class Nigerians, this country's a freakin gold mine all you need is the knowledge of where to dig.
Do they have better standard of living and peace of mind than the average nigerian middle class ?

to some people cash is more important (probably to buy peace of mind and security); to others peace of mind and security is more important

i fear for the country  under Jonathan, everybody in the opposition is being threatened with court and sss, before it was Tinubu, then Dokpesi and IBB, then atiku for his treasonable utterance, then the ACN governorship candidate in IMO or thereabouts

This issue about people spending during Holidays, i don't get it,

is it natural to spend a bit more than usual when you go on holiday? irrespective of where you go you will spend more than you do on a regular basis
and going to Nigeria where a lot of people are around you it will be obvious, the money you will spend on souvenirs in other countries you will spend on people or entertainment in Nigeria

if you go to America, Canada ,Spain or Dubai for holiday you will spend more than usual in the few days you spend there and nobody accuse you of 'showing off'

holidays are not exactly cheap

Strangely, I don't get money requests from the little family and friends I have in Nigeria.

My money demands come from Nigerians I've known from Nairaland, who started chatting to me via YIM or Windows Live Messenger. Some start making demands within minutes of us chatting. One asked me to send him £100, as he wanted to start a business. He said he would pay me back with interest. When I politely declined, he verbally abused me, my late parents and grand parents. I was actually quite funny, I didn't get offended.

Some have asked me to send them cars, so they can sell on my behalf, and send me the profit. Yeah, right. It's all about how you deal with such demands. You gotta be firm, and quash such demands from the get go. Otherwise, your life will be made a misery.

ZnO:
On the topic:

1. Can Aluko please list the number of registered voters in all the contentious states and compare same with number of actual voters? Does it show more voters  voted than were registered?

2. How does Aluko determine which election is more important to specific individuals. I may not vote in the senatorial election (because I am simply not interested) but decide to do so in the presidential one (because I am interested).

3. Which election is more important to voters: senatorial (local) or presidential (national)?

4. Can Aluko project that more SWners (for e.g.) will not come out to vote in the upcoming gubernatorial election than did in the presidential election? If that happens to be the case, how will he explain the upsurge of voters, compared to his insinuations in the case of the SE and SS?
1. that system has already been figured out in the previous election, why do you think they lost states in the SW? it will be schoolboy error to repeat the pattern

2. weird

3. local elections are actually more important, why do you think there was a massive turnout all over the country and not just a specific part of the country are you saying those senators are not son of the soil in bayelsa, imo, , senators have direct relationship with the people pf their region than the man in far away abuja, no coincidence the sw didnt give 2 hoots about the presidency

4. No brainer, they have a direct impact on the people than the man in aso rock, why do you think lagosians are more interested in Fashola's dos and donts compared to whats happening in Abuja, whereas people in bayelsa are more interested in the the FG is doing in their region leaving sylvia to play with himself

the person tha t initiates the BRT buses is not in aso rock, the person that initiates the shonga farms is the governor, the person that revamps your local roads and schools is not far away in fancy abuja, more reasons to vote in the gubernatorial elections than the presidential
