Politics › Re: CNN: Doing Business In Nigeria (Review Of Dan Foster's Book) by DisGuy: 4:57am On Sep 01, 2010
According to Foster, as long as you understand the cultural etiquette, doing business in Nigeria can offer vast opportunities. But, he says, success comes down two key factors: contacts and commitment.
Foster is adamant business in Nigeria can be a rewarding experience -- and not just financially.
"The people are fantastic -- you realize that the social networks and relationships you put so some much energy and time into, are in fact is part of the great reward. You'll build friendships and relationships that will last a life," he told CNN.

Politics › Re: Hedonism: The "typical" Nigerian Mindset? by DisGuy: 4:29am On Sep 01, 2010
Staying put in Nigeria or returning to Nigeria is not necessarily being patriotic

Not saying you live off your parents but when you grow older your needs will change and your priorities will be different
many people living outside Nigeria are actually able to do more for nigeria  than when they were actually inside

And there are many reason why people 'abadon' nigeria- to get quality education, to get qualitative work experience, to basically better yourself! if you cant better yourself then you can better your society, you have nothing to give you follow the same path you know you think along the same line etc etc

the most successful countries borrowed ideas from different countries then patch them together to form a better one

timmy2409:
grin grin grin grin at your assumptions. What makes the both of you think I'm living off my parents' pockets? And I still don't see what my age has to do with the question I'm asking, because even if I were 50 years old, the same effing thing is still prevalent -- people are bailing out of Nigeria every second without a second look backwards.

Also, in a way, you're still bringing up the same question. You're speculating that as a Nigerian, I cannot be patriotic and successful at the same time (I won't be able to feed my kids and I would have to bail to another country too in search of the "good life"wink,  which was the same thing I was ranting about. Is abandoning Nigeria for the "good life" the ultimate end? last time I checked, the most successful/developed countries were the ones whose people stuck together to strive towards perfection. so are we, Nigerians, basically hedonistic by default?
Politics › Re: The Man Who Might Be King - Bukola Saraki by DisGuy: 3:48am On Sep 01, 2010

NYSC › Re: Help: Can I Get A Job Without NYSC Certificate? by DisGuy: 3:30am On Sep 01, 2010
your lack of a certificate could be a stumbling block in future ( even nigerians abroad come back toservie).
I believe they just say this to everyone for some reason; the excuse is you can get a government job in teh future bla blah blah

Cant you get exemption certificate based on health or something, or keep deferring it till you are almost 30 then when you apply they'll give you an exemption certificate

I can tell you are really 17 years old. When you are my age and there is no more bank of daddy and mummy and you've got to provide for your own kids, come back and tell me this your patriotic story. Basically come back in about 20 years and tell me the same story. Good luck.

PapaBrowne:
One of the best posts I have seen on Nairaland in a while!!!

Before I returned to Nigeria, I had this kind of sampling with many Nigerians. The same response you've gotten is the same response I got.
I returned , notwithstanding. Today, I can say categorically that, there are much better prospects in Nigeria for Nigerians abroad than there are prospects in the best countries abroad.

What many people don't realize is that Inefficiencies= Opportunities. Everything in Nigeria is inefficient, hence Nigeria is awash with too many opportunities.
opportunities for who or what exactly? certainly opportunities to make money is abound, yes you employ people, pay more tax but majority that return are not doing it because they want to improve the 'country' same way the people that migrated to other countries are not doing it to help those people or improve their healthcare, education,
or space programmes

if people return to Nigeria they wont really go start up an NGO to fight for these developmental rights

Heed to my words; SEE AN EYE DOCTOR. Ask anyone here if the link is there last night or not. I'm sure NL is not full of people suffering from myopia like you. Better still, check my other posts (if you can find a link to every story or not).

If you have brain (I think otherwise) you can ponder on this; Why on earth will a person claimed to be someone who is awaiting deportation from the UK (not the Nigerian girl who recently had 15 A's in her GCSE exam)?
duhh there must be a reason everyone initially directed their abused at you the OP!" think about it nobody made reference to the link or original author but yourself! Not saying you're claiming to be someone else

i mean there must be a reason you had to come out to say this.  .   .

@all
This is just a story I came across on Sahara Reporters, so referring to OP as the guy in question somehow amuses me when reading through the posts. The name of the person who sent this story to saharareporters is Oyinlade Itunu. From now henceforth, note that OP is not Oyinlade Itunu.
you cant pull funny stunt here, you omitted the link before that's all i'm saying!

all this paypal account thing is long story.

open local accounts in any of our local banks.
those in Diaspora dat wnts to help can transfer money there or thru Money gram

meanwhile to save this child.ASAP open local accounts lets have the account number and let those who wish to donate do so

i for one am really interested, will keep following this thread till i get the account number.

thanks and God bless u really good!!!
Paypal is obviously faster and more convenient than any other methods for those residing outside nigeria!
Why do you think almost every other charity organisation uses electronic money transfer?
You can do everything within 30seconds, NGOs in nigeria should learn a thing or two about their operations in 2010
convenience is a big part, who wants to be queuing up, talking to someone over the counter, collecting reference number and secret questions, then you make a phone call

Paypal will be 30secs open 24/7

What i meant when i suggested Paypal was you Aisha2 to get a family member, partner charities or trusted friend who lives in a Paypal compliant country to set one up on her behalf- then that person or organisation can send the money through the banks or agencies

This is the part I hate about EU policies on deportation order process and Asylum process. And this is why many legal immigrant continue to be prejudiced because most countries in Europe now believe we are all the same.
This guy has committed a which is obvious and which he personally confessed, then why will it take a long time to process his deportation order. The same goes with failed asylum seekers. It takes along time to finish their process and thereyby getting a bad name for the "good guys."
Erm thats called human right

I think people are either given the option of appealing or voluntary deportation, another thing is you can not deport someone to a country if he claims he is not from that country or just because he is with a nigerian passport you cant just deport him to nigeria if he says otherwise

His failures will probably be blamed on Maigari or the NFF
you will hear things like they are not giving him free hand to choose players like they gave teh oyinbos
or they are not paying the bonus blah blah blah

Hope he succeeds though
