Politics › Re: Why The Request For Bailout in Nigeria? by DisGuy: 12:53pm On Oct 21, 2008
I think the Nigerian journalists are the lazy one screaming bailouts! together with some illiterate law makers

you will notice the paper didn't mention any single CEO or so called bank chiefs, they keep writing abut 'experts' and reliable sources

how do you bail out banks they are announcing over 50% profit?

Career › Re: Back To Nigeria After Medical School? by DisGuy: 1:53am On Oct 19, 2008
chunky:
I am a Nigerian and trained in France. As I have a double Nigerian-French citizenship, i was offered an Fi position in the Uk, which I would be starting in August. But my first choice would be to come back to Nigeria to do my internship. It is not the issue of money that is important to me, but a principle. How can this useless oyinbos be brain-draining the African man to develop their NHS. I have contacted the Medical and dental council of Nigeria, and they are exempting me from any exam, because my school is listed on those accepted for provisional registration. So I understand this man. This is a matter of principle, and not money. The Oyinbo man is a cheat, always on the trying to take advantage on the black man.
it's a shame you didn't refuse the offer with this your principle

Was She a Virgin to begin with? I was talking to this girl for six months now. She had always stressed to me that she was a virgin. Well three days ago, after the Presidential Debate between Obama and McCain, we ended up been intimate. Surprisingly, she was just like any other woman I had been with.
There was no difficulty penetrating her at all although she was ok. What am asking myself is are virgins as regular as disvirgins? Please somebody help me here. I believed this girl so much that I thought if I should feel her hymen, I would not break it. But i inserted all the way and felt nothing. Hmmm!!!
Please, those of you who have had the opportunity to disvirgin, tell me what your experiences were and your candid opinions on this brouhaha.
that will be impossible, that's the point of no return!!
What do you mean? It happens in America more than anywhere. Governors in America take pictures with celebrities, beauty queens, soldiers, Joe the plumbers etc?. Is it the same America that has a governor that was a wrestler? even GW Bush can take pictures with Paris Hilton if she's safe enough to come close to him. It's no biggie and that is not our problem in Nigeria. If they like, they can take pictures with all the akwunakwuna for Allen Ave as long as they do their job, who cares?
difference is they usually do this when the concert means something or they are introducing a policy, not just some sing-song doing beer-belly hugs

Nairaland General › Re: Employers And Job Seekers: Any Problems With Our Job Forum? by DisGuy: 1:59pm On Oct 17, 2008
The job forum is not fit for purpose, what do people gain by posting their sites/blogs anyway
filled to the brim with google adverts.

I think you should ban any advert that is not directly linked with a genuine company's website or
address

Vacancies should have positions available, name of company and address of company or contact person

I don’t want to mention companies because I have about six on my list
why dont you want to mention the companies??

What is the minimum wage in lagos anyway, the companies might just get away with it

Since your guy runs night duty, he can record the appalling conditions at these factories then post it to media houses, labour unions, CNN, friends of the Earth etc (health and safety lapses, chemical waste and crude working conditions)

nuzo:
I'm impressed by the hot blood of these revolutionists here. But at the same time, its very clear that these guys have been living abroad for too long not to know that they can't reach 5% of the nigerian youths through internet not to talk of the entire populace. News flash - illiteracy, no electricity  and no access to computer.

Talking of exposing corruption via youtube and internet; it was these same guys who like shouting down on me and all other well meaning nigerians when we point out the messes in the nigerian society that are calling for an internet revolution. Now, that is what i call hypocrisy.

Of course, i'm all in for the revolution but just like quotasyste and his people; these internet revolutionists must prove beyond doubt that back stabbing and hypocrisy will not reappear at the end of the day.

Once beaten, twice shy. cool
you don't need a computer, electricity and you certainly don't need to be literate to watch on your mobile phones PROFESSORS/LECTURERS soliciting for sex, selling course papers, collecting bribes from jambites/parents.   .   .

if we have something like http://www.mugus.com/ (please don't click on Daniel uchendu) do you really think these people will still have the courage to go back to work after being exposed to the world?

at least if the local media wont publish it, people will distribute these images/videos via bluetooth (remember the hausa actress)and before you know it it's on CNN BBC- and the local media as usual will be blaming foreigners for showing only the bad side
Properties › Re: Are Nigerian Properties Over-priced. by DisGuy: 7:29pm On Oct 15, 2008
EKENEA:
Hmmmmmmmm, its not over priced, if you want to buy same type of property in okoko or Ikorodu, it will not be same price because some areas have standard ( they regulate the type of house, foundation, fence etc) and all will add to the cost of the property.

its all  your choice. please understand that cost of building a house to your taste, will cost you a lot.
who regulates these builders?
I think in most parts after paying some percentage to the govt and you can build whatever you want!!
Or are there actual town planners checking building contractors in Lagos/nigeria??

Business › Re: How Can We Combat Fraud In Nigeria? by DisGuy: 4:52pm On Oct 15, 2008
Seun:
One significant question is, who are we fighting fraud for?
Are we fighting fraud just so Nigerians abroad won't be embarrassed?
Unfortunately this has caused significant harm to Nigeria's international reputation and has created the strong, inaccurate, perception that all business emanating from the country or involving Nigerians is fundamentally dangerous.[71] This has the immediate effect of making it impossible for people in Nigeria to perform legitimate business transactions online as many vendors (such as eBay, Alibaba and Go Daddy) either automatically close accounts created by Nigerian or people residing in Nigeria or bar access to Nigerian IP addresses. Legitimate emails and letters sent by people residing in Nigeria or Nigerian are routinely ignored, irrespective of the content, for fear of being fraud related. More recently there have been calls within the web administrator community to ban or block all Nigerian IP addresses, which would effectively isolate Nigeria from interacting with the rest of the internet.[72][73][74][75][76][77] Understandably the economic impact of this type of crime makes victims of not only the defrauded victims but also the innocent majority of Nigerians and Nigerian residents, who are severely restricted from interacting with the rest of the world on a level playing field.[78]

Travel › Re: Decongesting Lagos: Any Suggestions? by DisGuy(mod): 4:23pm On Oct 15, 2008
I think the state governor should first berate his fellow governors especially those with the highest number of indigines in the state or those with little or no qualifications, for not providing conducive environment for their people!!!

There is too much focus on lekki and victoria island region; the government should invest in social housing in new towns
with good transport links whereby people can wont feel they have to struggle too much to get to their place of work or business

In terms of transportation, the government can introduce stringent and higher M.O.T requirements for vehicle owners and even more stringent and more expensive vehicle license with compulsory insurance for transporters within the states, this wa thousands of cabu cabu (rickety cabs) and molues will be forced to quit the road or move to ogun state  grin then introduce alternative- clean conducive buses, metrail, ferry etc

more areas should be assigned business, residential and industrial districts, that way people are not struglling with coca-cola trucks on their way to school or banks operating in residential areas who usually don't have (adequate)parking space for their staff and customers

Introduce city centre charges like N1000 to drive through a particular area where there are sufficient alternative or even different routes and if you are the only one in a car or minivan you should be charged N2000 - underutilisation of capacity  cheesy between 8am-11am and 4pm-7pm

commercial building should be forced to build parking blocks to accommodate 1/4 of their office or shopfloors

and they should stop allocating land like there's no tomorrow the houses should be built like those in London- shoesize!!! cool

and pavements/walkways/sidewalks seems many of the contruction companies don't know what this is, it's not exactly expensive to include this in their proposals!!

you will notice that some posters with dodgy business actually post their mobile numbers AND ACCOUNT NUMBERS WITH THEIR FULL NAMES and sometimes their address so brazenly you'd think to yourself if they actually dont know what they are doing is fraud or they are fully aware of their actions and nobody can stop them!!

I think its about time banks, mobile companies and the police start collaborating to get rid of these people since all the evidence is online!! their names, bank details and phone numbers!! its not really difficult if you think about it; hopefully the SIM registration initiative becomes compulsory and not just theory.
