A senior official from Nigeria's oil-producing Niger Delta pleaded not guilty on Thursday to embezzling $40 million in public funds, in a corruption case being closely watched by militants in the restive region. The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), the main militant group in Nigeria's oil heartland, threatened on Wednesday to create a "state of anarchy" unless those accused in the case were properly dealt with.Reuters I think its just the 'too much money syndrome' |
its just a ploy to buy a smaller Belgian team, they are already threatening to to buy another club if they are not taken seriously NEWCASTLE, England (AFP) — The Nigerian consortium bidding to buy Newcastle has warned the Premier League crisis-club that they are ready to look elsewhere if a deal isn't completed soon. The African businessmen are believed to have tabled a 200 million pounds offer after Newcastle owner Mike Ashley signalled his intention to sell up. But the group are unhappy with the response from Newcastle so far and Chris Nathaniel, of NVA Management, who is the consortium's front man, insisted they were ready to pull out if negotiations don't go smoothly. "We're talking to possible manager and key personnel for the club," Nathaniel told The Sun. "Once that is sorted, we'll fine-tune our offer. "We're prepared to look at other options if our bid for Newcastle is not successful. I've been approached by several top Premier League club offering us opportunities to buy their clubs. "People are having a go because the businessmen have not made themselves known. But I can assure everyone they are astute, respectable and wealthy men." |

what I don't get with the Nigerian 'bail-out' is what/who exactly do they want to bail out? hope they are not doing it for the sake of doing it I had the misfortune of watching the senate/house of assembly yesterday and all the could do was refer to the American bail-out with no real explanations or understanding of what is happening exactly! The companies are declaring profit, there is liquidity in the market Apart from their foreign credit line I don't know what more they need help with at the moment, tehse companies dont have bad loans tied to mortgages their loans are tied to stock trading and i'm sure they can restructure without a bail-out! |
