Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Will This Unexpected Bank Job Help My IT Career? by DisGuy: 7:31pm On Apr 26, 2007
jumiek:
Congratulations to you on your appointment. Then to answer your question, I believe there are prospects for you in the banking industry with regards to your course of study. Your appointment will expose you to different banking operations out of which IT is a major one. With the advent of electronic banking amongst other IT operations, you are bound for the top. To me, you have gotten a place to explore your potentials to the utmost level unless, you have some other reservations.
I doubt that! even with the advent of electronic banking data entry is not exactly the pinnacle of an IT career

Investment › Re: Govt Raises Minimum Fund Portfolios For Capital Market by DisGuy: 11:14pm On Apr 25, 2007
Does this mean stocbrokers have to raise their capital or merge with others like the banking sector?

By the approvals, average equities transaction cost in the primary market, which currently stands at 6.92 per cent, has been reduced to 4.32 per cent, while transaction cost on bonds has been reduced from 7.03 per cent to 4.79 per cent.
In the secondary market, total transaction costs on equities have also been slashed.

For instance, equities transaction cost on the buy side has been reduced from 4.07 per cent to 2.36 per cent, while the commission on the sales is now 2.65 per cent from the earlier cost of 4.12 per cent. This took effect from yesterday.

Politics › Re: Musa Yar'adua Is The New President Of Nigeria! by DisGuy: 8:15pm On Apr 25, 2007
Do you need a soothsayer to tell you that Yar'dua is going to be like his master OBJ. Have you checked his state on JAMB to see that only 3442 people out of  5,792,578 applied to sit for JAMB in 2006. Does he have any reason to give as to why he has not done anything in last 8 years with regard to  mass illiteracy in his state?
what were the figures before 1999? the number of female applying for jamb/college and polytechnic increased by about 40% from that jamb site  wink he certainly isnt a miracle worker, think about their culture, poverty up north

People say that he is less corrupt, when you have over 90 % of your population as illiterates, who can raise an eyebrow when it comes managing of state's resources?
the poeple that say he is less corrupt are not those in his state alone, CBN, EFCC and icpc* didnt really have anything to say about him moving money abroad

EU commission assessed all the governors in Nigeria. I know for sure that Yar'dua did not make it in the top five. Embattled Chris Ngige of Anambra out performed him.  We know  Donald Duke as the brain behind Obudu Cattle Ranch and Tinapa.  What does Yar'dua really have to show us? He has an ailment and yet has not built any hospital to cater for his medical need. I am tired of Nigerians always praising mediocre.
dont you think that will be a bit selfish; he actually built hospitals and one* with  dialysis facility why he didnt get treatment there is another matter.

what are the evidence utomi, buhari, atiku can perfom better?
Politics › Re: Musa Yar'adua Is The New President Of Nigeria! by DisGuy: 7:38pm On Apr 25, 2007
the courts will not nullify the elections, (at least the presidential one), evidence of malpractice shall be seen, but in the end it will be declared that the offenses do not materially change the result of the polls.

the desperation of the PDP to hold power is however sad, very unbecoming of the 'largest political party in Africa'

the electoral process is 'supposed' to grant the elected officer power to act, but once he is legally sworn in and the elections upheld, he has all the legal rights to carry out whatever actions he does. It is unfortunate that Yar'Adua will have to deal with these additional issues along with the major problems he has to face, but in order to assuage that, one or two populist moves early in his administration, plus the coming onstream of the power projects started by Obj leading to improved power supply will likely garner popular support for him.
We do need to get things right, and I believe Yar'Adua's emergence is a step in the right direction.
well put man
1st year battling election tribunal
2nd year trying to get rid of OBJ/lessen his control

the productivity of the upcoming power plants might just save him a bit
Christianity Etc › Re: Gombe Muslim Students Have Put Me In Sorrow By Killing My Friend by DisGuy: 3:55am On Apr 25, 2007
Mr DisGuy, the deciet is entirely at your end. When i read posts like this al-taqqiya immediately springs to mind. Are you comparing Nigeria to the UK/USA? How many states in the USA can unilaterally choose to reinstate Sharia law as a state religion?
I'm sorry mate i don't know what you mean by al taqqiya
The states apparently implemented sharia law because they can according to the federal constitution right? To me the MP didn't bother about it because they court agreed with the states; and since it didn't really affect their state and fun spots they we 'okay' with it.

Does it take MPs to enforce the law when it comes to murder? After the murder in Gombe, the govt immediately came out with a statement claiming the Gombe incident had NO religious connotation despite the fact that the quran instigated the incident with the teenage murderers chanting allahu akbar. Did you then expect that the police would do an unbiased job?
Religion or no religion, A crime was committed and the law of the state/country should be enforced!
Christianity Etc › Re: Gombe Muslim Students Have Put Me In Sorrow By Killing My Friend by DisGuy: 3:21am On Apr 25, 2007
2. When others kill, the culprits when caught are brought to book. When muslims kill, we are told to just live with it, the govt gives the victims families some blood money and the whole incident is swept under the carpet while allah's henchmen are free to go looking for other innocent people to kill.
stop deceiving your self  wink
you are told by who to just live with it? And what will happen if you dont live with it? what will happen if you actually took some actions, Ask what are the MPs doing about it are they too busy calculating their bonuses or they are all muslims? What are the police doing about it, are they all muslims too

When a (muslim) person commits murder for whatever reason in the UK/USA they are arrested and punished according to the law, i dont think the laws in nigeria are favouring any particular group!

uptil now you have not discussed a solution mr david, you are going round in circles with the cause in your opinion

people kill people in nigeria, seems you only notice the muslim/northerner killers
should there be different punishment for people that kill in the name of religion to people that kill for the political godfathers?
Christianity Etc › Re: Gombe Muslim Students Have Put Me In Sorrow By Killing My Friend by DisGuy: 2:56am On Apr 25, 2007
don't agree, , don't agree with pointing at Hausa's too, really lets look back where did all these problems start? I have not witnesed riot in the north, I have witnessed riots in Lagos, was not pretty.
i have been there and know that they observe strict rules in many ways based on religion and culture, and i always thought we all knew this and respected it(while i was in Kano many years ago i had to wear a long skirt to see my sister in BUK, but then this can not be the basis for an attack on anyone, we must not act like cave men just because we don't see eye to eye, or pick up arms when an offence is caused.
You know what? i still don't know the full details of the matter, however a crime was comitted and i want to see people brought to book , i think many Nigerians would love that, not for cheap point scoring based on  ''i got one over on your religion'' but just to say behaviour like that has no place in any society. period. I don't like the way many people are jumping on the bandwaggon to attack evryone in the north  for selfish reasons. Even sometimes we who call ourselves christians the arsenal in our tongues sef pass the one wey kamikazee fit inflict
hmm Fresh air at long last

register for online banking if you already have an account with them, you will have to call them afterwards because they;like the majority of businesses in nigeria will not see the email till a month later

Politics › Re: Is BEN TV An Extention Of NTA? by DisGuy: 12:10am On Apr 25, 2007
BEN TV are trying to provide a service to the black community especially 'Nigerians/Africans in diaspora', they partnered with AIT and now NTA to show nigeria/african programmes. Ait is obviously private and NTA is owned by the govt.

They are not that big to cover the elections or have their own reporters file reports straight from nigeria, as they say half bread.  .   .   .
Education › Re: Is It Better To Stay On-Campus Or Off-Campus In UK Universities? by DisGuy: 11:46pm On Apr 24, 2007
I'll say stay on campus for a year

you'll be around people more or less your age

you'll experience and interact with your coursemates and others more often

you'll be able to actually get the chance to tell/show (young) people your culture
and learn theirs first hand not what CNN/ABC news told them

you'll get your room cleaned twice a week cheesy

you'll have crazyyyy fun together
you'll be broke together
you'll learn how to eat toast and baked beans
other student will ask you to rap for them  undecided

if you stay with a relative that is not a student;

you'll be alone when he/she is at work

you'll be tempted to overwork to get rid of boredom

you wont learn spanish/italian/french curse words

everyday you will talk about OBJ, Nepa, efcc, phonecards, moneygrams >Nigeria, nigeria nigeria  wink

If you're mature and focused you will survive off campus easily

Politics › Re: Should Inec Announce An Elections Re-run ? by DisGuy: 10:26am On Apr 23, 2007
But then if he does that he'll be accused of not wanting to leave office

it's been a long time i heard an election have been cancelled in any country, the elections that got obj into power were said to be rigged but they still recognised his govt in their country. If theres a punishment for riggging in the international community then maybe we might just cancel the elections.

another $1billion contract waiting for some politician somewhere wink
