Overreaction and childishness from both parties in my opinion. Not that much of a big deal occasionally sharing your toothbrush or towel with a serious GF. Done this sometimes with my serious GF in Uni. If you are not into the girl(or guy) then of course what would pose an issue but again be polite about it and just get rid of the items.
